Would Michael Jackson Approve? Celebrity Moonwalks Ranked From Best To Worst

Source: Bob King / Getty If you’re a Michael Jackson fan, nine times out of ten you’ve tried the moonwalk in the comfort of your solitude. Though the concept of the dance seems simple, it’s definitely no easy task. Michael Jackson first performed the dance on TV for the special Motown 25: Yesterday, Today, Forever,  which aired on NBC on May 16, 1983, according to Billboard . However, it’s pretty well known that M.J. didn’t invent the moonwalk and up until his performance, it wasn’t really known by that name. Dancer Jeffrey Daniel notably performed the move on the U.K. show Top of the Pops  in 1982 and back then, it was known as the “backslide.” Peep the moves around the 1:58 mark below!   Even before Jeffrey’s performance, poppers and b-boy dancers were known to do the dance in city streets and clubs. Mr. Freeze of the influential Rock Steady b-boy crew even did the moves in a scene from Flashdance , which was released on April 15, 1983. Check out his variation of the backslide around the 0:25 mark below!   A recorded variation of the backslide can also be found from the 1950s thanks to dancer Bill Bailey … (2:04 mark)   Despite who “created” the “backslide” or the “moonwalk,” there’s no question that M.J. popularized the move and turned it into a global phenomenon. According to Yahoo , Michael wasn’t specific on who taught him the dance (and there’s still much debate about this), but he still gave credit to the streets in his 1988 memoir Moonwalker. “I would finally do the Moonwalk in public on  Motown 25. Now the Moonwalk was already out on the street by this time, but I enhanced it a little when I did it. It was born as a breakdance step, a ‘popping’ type of thing that black kids had created dancing on the street corners in the ghetto…So I said, ‘This is my chance to do it,’ and I did it. These three kids taught it to me.”   Since Michael showed off his skills to the world, countless folks have tried the iconic footwork — from eager fans to talented celebrities. Unfortunately, on the celebrity side, it hasn’t been all success. In honor of Michael Jackson’s 60th birthday, check out some stars who nailed the dance as well as others who were not so smooth.

Araya Diaz/Getty Images Ty Dolla Sign And Jeremih Unite With Lil Wayne For “New Level” Jeremih  and  Ty Dolla Sign  have officially joined forces, and they’re teaming up with Lil Wayne on a new song called “New Level.” This new track is expected to appear on Jeremih and Ty’s highly anticipated joint album  MihTy,  which is set to drop later this year. Ty Dolla previously announced on his Twitter page the project would be released today (Aug. 24); however, that message has since been deleted–so we probably shouldn’t hold our breath. MihTy  will also include the previously released single “The Light,” and feature some of the biggest and hottest names in the game today. This includes people like French Montana, Wiz Khalifa, and Kehlani. Just ask HitMaka, who is probably producing a good portion of the joints on the project. It’s R&B and hip-hop vibe.” Hopefully we’ll get some more info about MihTy’s release date soon, but until then, we’ve got “New Level” to vibe to.

Audrey Roloff’s Dangerous Driving History: REVEALED!

Audrey Roloff may be the most loving mother in Hollywood. This is an impossible judgment to make, of course, but the point we want to make before delving into one troubling issue in regard to the ex-Little People, Big World star is this: She clearly cares a whole lot about her daughter. Just take one look at Audrey’s Instagram account and read a few words from her about Ember Jean and you’ll agree. Despite this indisputable point, a handful of Internet users are suddenly concerned about Ember’s safety. And this is why: It turns out that Roloff is a really bad driver! Just this past week, Audrey was pulled over and cited for “distracted driving” near her home in Oregon. According to the Washington County Police Department, officers busted Audrey on Wednesday, August 22, around 9:30 a.m. for using her cell phone while behind the wheel. She was issued a citation,” Detective Robert Rookhuÿzen told Radar Online, adding: “It’s illegal to operate a motor vehicle while using your mobile electronic device.” This has become the case in many states around the country. It makes sense from a safety standpoint, doesn’t it? Ember was not in the vehicle at the time of this incident, which Audrey spoke openly about on Instagram. She sounded a little bit defensive while doing so, too, we must admit, writing to fans: “If you are holding your phone while you’re driving, even if you’re talking on speaker phone, even if you’re dialing somebody’s [number]… “it doesn’t matter if you’re at a stoplight or if you’re just looking at your Google Maps to see where you’re going, you cannot pick up your phone while driving.” Audrey then explained that she now knows this from experience. “I’m telling you this because I have been in the car with lots of people who pick up their phone to type in an address for Google Maps, or change the song on Spotify, or answer a phone call, or dial the phone, even if they’re talking on speaker or Bluetooth,” she added. “I just thought I’d pop on here and remind you all, because I was reminded today how dangerous it is to pick up your phone even for a split second.” Meanwhile, in 2014, Audrey was also pulled over for violating the “basic speed rule,” accordingto Marion County Circuit Court documents obtained by Radar . She pled no contest at the time and the case was dismissed after she was ordered to pay $260 in fines. ALSO, however, Roloff was found guilty in 2010 “failure to obey traffic control device.” It is not totally clear what transpired in this case, but a judge ordered her the former reality star to undergo a medical assessment and she was forced to pay $120 in fines. Finally, in April of 2010, Roloff was issued a ticket for speeding. Taken on their own, each of these incidents is not a big deal. Even taken as a whole, they don’t exactly represent a menace to society. But Audrey does have at least some history of driving at least a bit recklessly and she is now a mother, so she does need to be extra careful and aware. That is all we’re saying. But they do have a book coming out in 2019 and you’ll be hearing plenty from them moving forward. For whatever it’s worth, Matt Roloff was arrested for drunk driving in 2007, but later found not guilty. It was his second DUI citation in four years at the time. Paola Mayfield Claps Back at Mom-Shamers Over Exercising While Pregnant!

90 Day Fiance  stars  Paola Mayfield and Russ Mayfield are expecting their first child ! This is exciting news, and Pao has been showing off her baby bump left and right. But as much as fans may enjoy seeing her  flaunt her baby bump in a barely-there bikini , others have been mom-shaming her for continuing to work out while pregnant. Now, Paola is clapping back at her trolls. Concern-trolling is when people use alleged “concerns” that they have about someone else as an excuse to harass them. One of the most common forms of this is mom-shaming, when, under the guise of worrying about a child’s health (or, in this case, a baby who won’t be born for months), people attack a woman’s way of life. So, what is Paola doing? Is she skydiving? Is she drinking? Joining a group of people who think that the Zika virus is a Deep State Illuminati conspiracy and offering her skin to every mosquito she sees? No. Of course not. Paola’s “crime,” in the eyes of these body-shamers, is exercising while pregnant. After Paola shared a glimpse of her pregnant body, looking as fit as ever even with the baby bump, she also let fans see her workout out a little. While working out, she had weights attached to her waist. She is, after all, a fitness model. So-called “fans” piled on the outrage, claiming that her activities were dangerous. Instead of firing back directly, Pao shared a screenshot of someone else speaking up in her defense. Take a look: “I have never read such ignorance in a paragraph,” the fan writes. “And I am so sorry for your heart.” “I am a public health professional with a background in holistic health,” the person says. That’s a little vague, but it’s something. “Exercising during pregnancy is totally recommended if the person was doing it before,” the comment says. We have heard this time and time again from medical professionals and from pregnant moms who are getting mom-shamed for no good reason. “The baby actually received more oxygen and nutrients because the mother is more physically active,” the commenter explains. That did not stop hordes of mom-shamers from commenting, both before and after she shared that. “Be careful on working out when you’re pregnant,” wrote one person whom literally nobody had asked. “I just saw a video of you pick up weights around your waist,” another wrote even though it’s not their business. “Please,” that comment continued. “Tell me that that was before you were p.g. I’m old school Hispanic and you should take it easy. Just my opinion.” Just your opinion … that no one ever asked to hear. Others had even more hateful things to say. “You’re a hoe then who baby Is it Jorge baby?” one hater wrote, referring to  90 Day Fiance  star Jorge Nava. “lol but I thought it was Russ baby i guess Russ ain’t the dad lol your married and pregnant but teasing men? That’s wrong.” “Youre hot and all,” commented another. “But your need for attention is kinda sad. Oh well, nice ass!” These people are … scum. “She not a good role model,” declares another comment. “She’s teaching you to tease men when she’s pregnant and married that’s not good role model lol.” She literally just made a video of herself. If that is “teasing,” that sounds like a problem with the viewer. Someone else chimed in with an even wilder criticism. “In touch agrees with Paola! Of course they do they also support with abortions!” one truly bonkers person wrote. “Let’s protect anything but the baby. That’s what’s really sad.” That same awful person continued: “Your life Paola. Paola gets angry because people are worried about the baby . Her motto is I do what I want regardless of who I hurt as long as I get that$$$$.” Pao did have plenty of fans who wrote pleasant things in her defense. Here’s a great example: “Pao can do whatever she chooses it’s her body and it’s her baby,” a decent commenter wrote. “She’s a very beautiful lady and she’s loving the experience that her body is going thru. So let her enjoy it..” Well said. View Slideshow: Paola Mayfield: 90 Day Fiance Star’s Hottest Photos That Russ Doesn’t Want You to See!

Michelle Obama Shares Emotional Video Of Father Voting While Suffering From Multiple Sclerosis

V oting has long been a passionate subject for Michelle Obama . A new video sheds light on exactly why the former first lady is a strong crusader for voting rights—and why she is encouraging people to exercise their power at the polls. Obama shared a powerful story about watching her father vote as a child in the clip, which is part of her “When We All Vote” campaign, an initiative that she co-chairs in an effort to spur voter registration ahead of the midterm elections. Before “When We All Vote” hits the road for a week of action from Sept. 22-29, the ex-FLOTUS had another Black excellence moment that she hopes will inspire people to head to the ballot box in November. We’re hosting #WhenWeAllVote Week of Action events across the country in September. Find an event near you or host your own in your community: https://t.co/92nuLHTsuZ https://t.co/ryswooZhVs — When We All Vote (@WhenWeAllVote) August 21, 2018 Her story underscored her father’s passion and dedication for voting despite being diagnosed with multiple sclerosis. “I grew up in a household where voting was something you did all the time,” Obama said in the video. “And my father, who had multiple sclerosis, I remember going to the polling place with him and how much effort it took for him to park his car, to get his crutches, to walk into the church basement in our local neighborhood where he voted. And to stand there, holding himself up, making sure he cast his ballot. I remember my father doing this exercise every single election.” Seeing her dad vote made Obama think about what a “special responsibility” it was — a right that African-American groups fought for during the civil rights era. The clip makes clear that voting was not only a right for Obama, but a rite of passage. She encourages voting in the presidential election and at the local level. Watch her video below.
