Danish photographer and disrespectful curd clump Andreas Hvid has caused international outrage after posting a video of himself and an unidentified pixelated model climbing the Great Pyramid of Giza, as well as a photo of the two of them smashing at the top at sunrise. The photographer claims a Danish tabloid (via Newsweek ) that the photo of the sexual act itself was staged — he says he never slept with the model atop the pyramid, or during any other time. But honestly, if you he had no problem climbing all over and possibly compromising the integrity of the ancient pyramid stones, no issue getting buck naked on top of these sacred tombs for ancient Egyptian royals…then who’s to say he’d draw a hard line at getting some nookie and taking pics while he was up there? Either way, Egypt’s antiquities minister Khaled al-Anani has declared this little stunt a “violation of public morality,” and Egyptian citizens are calling for a ban on tourism to these national monuments altogether. Obama took a ton of important steps toward change, including being the first president to (very publicly) visit a prison and spend time with convicts, banning juvenile solitary confinement, and commuting a total of 1,175 sentences (330 in a single day). Jay-Z brought to light the devastating story of Kalief Browder , a young man from the Bronx who spent three terrible years in jail even though he was never convicted of a crime. After all he’d been through, Browder tragically committed suicide. And of course we can’t forget about Meek Mill getting politically active, as he calls out the injustices he, himself, has faced at the hands of the justice system. Meek’s stories give those who can’t relate to being locked up an insider’s look at how young black men are targeted and kept behind bars for extended periods of time. The movement is beginning to mobilize and more and more people are beginning to do their part to create the change we’d all like to see. Cue a young man from Harlem who’s sharing an incredible story of resistance this week. His name is Isiah , he’d been locked up on Rikers Island in 2016 when the warden broke a promise she’d made regarding game 7 in the NBA Finals and all hell broke loose. How he handled the escalating dispute and what he has to say about it today will give you chills. Isiah told Humans Of NY , “Every month in prison they had something called Inmate Council, where you get to meet with the prison administration and make suggestions. I volunteered to be the representative for my housing unit. And toward the end of the meeting, the warden asked if anyone had questions or concerns.” At the time, the Cleveland Cavaliers were going against the Golden State Warriors and the fellas just wanted to be able to tune in. “The NBA finals were going on at the time. So I raised my hand and asked: ‘If the Cavs force a game seven, can we keep the TV on past lock up time?’ And she agreed. She agreed in front of everyone,” Isiah explained. But things didn’t go as planned. “So when game seven came around, all of us were excited. We gathered around the TV in the dayroom to watch the game. But right as the second quarter was starting, the television clicked off. The CO came down and tried to kick everybody out. I told her the warden gave us permission, but she said it didn’t matter. And that’s when things began to go downhill. We refused to leave. The CO went behind a protected gate and pulled the silent alarm. We grabbed all the tables and chairs and stacked them up against the door. We covered the floor in shampoo and water. The security team came back with riot gear and huge cans of pepper spray, but we kept the door closed for over two hours. When they finally got inside, they were slipping all over the place. We just laid down on the floor and put our hands behind our back. I was given thirty days in solitary confinement. But I had to do the right thing,” he told Humans Of NY. Reflecting on his decision at the time, he added “Women are allowed to vote because some woman wanted to vote. The Civil Rights Movement started because Rosa Parks didn’t want to get out of her seat. And next time there’s a game seven of the NBA Finals, I bet they’re going to leave the TV on in Building Six at Rikers Island.” When Global Grind reached out for more details about that scary day, Isiah said since he was removed from the housing area he isn’t sure what the warden had to say for herself after the fact. However, he told us that at his Disciplinary Action meeting it’d been pretty obvious the guards turned off all the cameras at the time of the inmates’ sit-in. “When I asked them to show the cameras, they said they were ‘off’ and not working because they are new. But I know they weren’t telling the truth because they’d recently installed a camera they could control remotely. One night the camera was facing the front, the next morning the camera was facing the back of the housing area—and Rikers cameras are recording constantly to precent inmate on inmate violence.” Isiah mentioned, “This is what they do when they want to get away with assaulting you.” Today, the Game Design major has one semester left at Hostos Community College before he graduates. Well, we didn’t see this one coming. Then again, that’s been true of pretty much every news story involving Charlie Sheen for at least the past decade. Everyone’s favorite dragon-blooded warlock from Mars took to Twitter today to reveal that he’s been sober for a full year. Sheen tweeted a photo of his newly-acquired anniversary chip from Alcoholics Anonymous along with a characteristically enthusiastic caption. “So, THIS happened yesterday! a fabulous moment, in my renewed journey,” wrote Sheen. He added the hashtag: “#TotallyFocused.” We’ve joked around over the years about Sheen being more cocaine than man , but we’d like to take this opportunity to congratulate on adopting a healthier lifestyle. We probably don’t need to tell you that Sheen’s substance abuse caused some problems for the actor over the years. Of course, what’s less talked-about is the fact that the Sheenius apparently had more than a decade of sobriety under his belt at one point. In a 2016 interview with Dr. Oz, Sheen joked that he’d attempted to quit drinking “about 2,000″ times. And it seems that at one point, he was victorious in his battle against the bottle. “There was a stretch where I didn’t drink for 11 years. No cocaine, no booze for 11 years. So I know that I have that in me,” he said. Sheen is HIV positive , and in the same interview, he revealed that it was his diagnosis that caused him to fall off the wagon. “It was to suffocate the anxiety and what my life was going to become with this condition and getting so numb I didn’t think about it,” Sheen told Oz. “It was the only tool I had at the time, so I believed that would quell a lot of that angst. A lot of that fear. And it only made it worse.” To his credit, even in his darkest and most scandalous times, Sheen tends to be more forthcoming about his flaws than most celebs. In the interview with Oz, Sheen was asked to provide three words to describe his old self and three to describe his current self. The actor said he used to be “hammered, fractured, crazy” and is now “focused, sober, hopeful.” Of course, that was in January of 2016, and Sheen celebrated one year of sobriety today, so we can safely conclude that his path to recovery has had its share of roadblocks. But as any addict or recovery expert will tell you, the important thing is to remain focused on sobriety in spite of past failures — and it seems that’s just what Charlie is doing. T he overwhelming narrative surrounding immigration in the U.S. has long centered on Latinos, Hispanics and Central Americans. But in addition to those groups, immigrants from majority Black countries will also be left vulnerable to tougher immigration regulations that could be approved soon. A proposed rule from the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), called “Inadmissibility on Public Charge Grounds,” was the Trump administration’s latest attempt to rig immigration policy in favor of English speakers whose earning power was near or on a par with that of American citizens. Monday was the end of a three-month period accepting “public comments” which DHS was expected to use to help reach its final decision on the rule. The Public Charge rule would restrict immigrant families from using essential public services including non-emergency Medicaid, SNAP, Medicare Part D, and housing assistance. As of Monday, “refugees, asylees, and amnestied illegal aliens are exempt from the public charge requirement,” according to the Federation for American Immigration Reform . However, “[u]ndocumented immigrants may be eligible for a handful of benefits that are deemed necessary to protect life or guarantee safety in dire situations, such as emergency Medicaid, access to treatment in hospital emergency rooms, or access to healthcare and nutrition programs under the Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC).” And that’s what has Trump’s white nationalist administration so worried. “The regulation also favors immigrants who speak the English language and who have earnings at or above 250 percent of the federal poverty level, which is a whopping $63,000 for a family of four,” UndocuBlack Network wrote on its website. That was a near impossible standard to meet for immigrants, let alone many American citizens, according to a list of states’ median income for four-person families that was compiled by the U.S. Census Bureau. And that includes undocumented immigrants,” HuffPost wrote. “Not only do they simply not qualify for many benefits, but undocumented immigrants also tend to keep a low profile and may not seek benefits they possibly could legitimately receive as a result. Remember last week how people aka Yandy, Kimbella, and Jonathan felt that Juju was secretive? This is that again. Basically, Yandy feels some type of way because Juju never really actually told her anything about her breakup with Cam’ron. Like, how dare Juju be so heartbroken that she doesn’t want to talk about a painful thing! Anyway, Juju expresses that she doesn’t like being called secretive, and she won’t be talking about the break up any time soon because it still hurts and frankly, she doesn’t have to…just like Yandy didn’t tell them about the fact that she and Mendeecees planned to not sign their marriage certificate. Jaquae and Rich Dollaz meet up to talk artist biz. Basically, Jaquae is working with Nya Lee and wants Richie D to check her out. He doesn’t know that Rich Dollaz and Nya Lee hate each other. You may remember Nya Lee from a few seasons back. She was another stripper/rapper trying to make it big but she came on the show full of herself. She and Rich had a major falling out minutes after they met because Nya Lee felt it was the perfect time to express that she thought Rich Dollaz was corny. Obviously, that relationship died before it began. Jaquae says that Nya Lee has turned down a lot and gotten more focused since she became a mom, so he wants Rich to give her a chance. Rich agrees to think about it and then reveals that “he got this chick he has been working with” that’s a rapper, and he wants Jaquae to check her out. We’re all thinking the same thing because we all know Rich makes Creep Squad moves. Jaquae asks what we all want to know, but according to Rich, it’s strictly business. Later on, we find out that Rich’s new artist is Sydney Star. Jaquae is obviously surprised, but he does admit that she’s talented after she raps for him and it does actually seem like Rich might really be about his business. For real, for real this time. Meanwhile, Jonathan gets together with Cyn, Kimbella, and Anais for a kiki. It starts off like a friends pow wow but then goes all the way left. First, Cyn dishes about her trip to Cabo with Joe. It was not as “sextacular” she wanted because Joe really just wanted to sleep. He’s still not understanding what she needs from him. Then we get to the hook of this meetup. Jonathan then tells Anais that she shouldn’t have ambushed Juju at his party. Then he tells Kimbella that he felt attacked by her because she brought Juju to the party in the first place, knowing dang well he didn’t invite her. You know Jonathan is extra so his delivery is intense and comes off as confrontational. Anais gets set off and starts yapping about how she was defending him (even though she really didn’t need to do that). Kimbella is over it too because Jonathan is still going on about how she called Juju secretive and none of this is productive. Anais and Kimbella both end up storming out. Overit dot com. Remy Ma attempts to bring Juju and Yandy together to hash their drama out. They talk. Juju says it’s hypocritical for Yandy to call her secretive given her marriage papers situation. Yandy thinks this is two different things but Remy Ma chimes in as the objective voice and says they’ve both been secretive about things and need to get over it already. They ramble on about stuff until Remy cuts them short, declaring that “it’s cheeseburger o’clock” so they have to go. That’s pregnant woman speak for, “I’m hungry and I ain’t got time to be doing this all day.” They laugh about it but we still don’t really know whether Juju and yandy move forward on good terms or not. Probably not. You know they’re petty af. Jaque actually got Rich Dollaz to show up for a Nya Lee performance. Nya still thinks Rich is messy but they attempt to hash out their differences maturely, and that’s when Sydney Star interrupts and all hell almost breaks loose. Nya Lee feels some type of way about Sydney Star existing, being a big personality, and generally posing a threat to her shine. Nya Lee doesn’t bite her tongue so she says that Syndey better not think she’s going to steal her shine. They start going back and forth until Rich removes Syndey from the situation because he doesn’t want her arguing with Nya Lee, or anyone, really. The episode wraps with Juelz Santana taking the plea deal. He’s probably going to do 18 months in jail, but he doesn’t have full closure on that situation yet because the judge ultimately has the final say. That’s pending. He and Kimbella end up arguing because Juelz said he was headed in the right direction before this but Kimbella feels like he still hasn’t taken full accountability of the fact that drugs led him here. Then he brings up how she’s not perfect because she cheated (you know, the ole apple plus banana equals orange trick). They start arguing about who did and didn’t do what or support who, and even pretend like they’re actually going to break up after all these years of lowered expectations. Kimbella even delivers a dramatic, “Let’s end this now” for good measure. But we all know good and dang well that they’re getting married. They’ll probably get a wedding special out of the deal but we need more details about Juelz’s case first. With The Real Housewives of Orange County Season 13 in the can, there’s one thing that’s become abundantly clear about the most recent season: Shannon Beador does not like any of the new additions to the cast. If you watch The Real Housewives of Orange County online , you already know the long-term cast member blatantly ignores Emily Simpson and Gina Kirschenheiter whenever they try to talk to her. Gina claimed on Sunday’s reunion show that Shannon is “an open book of bulls–t.” Gina was tired of the back and forth with Shannon and felt like the recently single housewife was lying about everything, all while putting on a show for the cameras. According to Gina, Shannon called her up and said the following: “I have a history of not remembering things, and I’m in a custody case, and I’m afraid that I’m gonna lose my children. I wanna know what was said.” As you may recall, Gina was the one who told Shannon what was said about her after her meltdown in Jamaica. That thinly veiled attempt at finding a friend while throwing another under the bus did not go unnoticed, and Shannon assumed Tamra Judge was the person talking about her. Gina said during the reunion that she even offered to bring up the comments in front of the other woman to prove she was telling the truth but added that Shannon told her to leave it. Andy Cohen interjected and asked whether that was the truth, but Shannon essentially called Gina a liar. “Yes, you did! You’re lying!” Gina screamed, adding: “Maybe it’s your selective memory? Source: LUIS CHARRIS / Getty Sharika Could Be Facing Some Charges For Tax Fraud After a year-long investigation, the Spanish government is now claiming that Shakira will be facing criminal tax fraud charges, according to reports from Spanish newspaper El Pais . The singer was the subject of a probe that looked into whether she lived in Spain between the years of 2011 and 2014 or not; Spanish law stipulates that if you spent a minimum of 183 days in Spain, you are to be considered a fiscal resident of the country and must pay taxes on your global income–which is the case made against Shakira. According to the same report, this year-long investigation came to the conclusion that Shakira owes upwards of 14.5 million euros to the government. The 41-year-old filed her taxes for those years as if she spent most of her time in the Bahamas, as opposed to living with her partner Gerard Pique in Barcelona. The couple lived together from 2011 onwards, and Shakira even gave birth to her first son in a Barcelona hospital in 2013. Shakira’s defense team said that she wasn’t in the country for most of the time during those years, with the majority of her income coming from her work abroad. She is saying now that she never attempted to hide any of her income, allegedly calling it a matter of “a difference in criteria.” “Shakira has at all times fulfilled her tax obligations and owes no money to the Spanish Treasury,” a statement from Shakira’s team reads. It continues, “As soon as she was made aware of the amount that according to the Tax Agency she owed, as a gesture of good faith, she made the payment in full, and, therefore, there are currently no monies owed.” The Colombian singer’s name appeared in the “Paradise Papers” back in 2017, which detailed which celebrities and politicians had offshore financial dealings to avoid tax. Earlier in 2018, Shakira paid 20 million euros to the Spanish government in back taxes.
