Considering he turns 4 next month, don’t you think it’s about TIME ? The young mom who sparked a media storm breastfeeding her 3-year-old son on the cover of Time magazine is opening up about the controversial photo. Jamie Lynne Grumet, 26, appeared on NBC’s “Today” show on Friday to discuss the cover, which shows her casually nursing her toddler Aram, who stares straight into the camera while he stands on a wooden chair. “I do understand why Time chose this picture, because it did create such a media craze … to get the dialogue talking,” Grumet said. The ensuing controversy focused on attachment parenting – the topic of Time’s cover story – particularly extended breastfeeding. Grumet explains that she was breastfed until she was 6-years-old and cites it as the reason she and her mother have a close bond. Dr. Bill Sears, who developed the attachment parenting theory, also appeared on “Today” with Grumet. While both are advocates of the controversial parenting technique – which also includes co-sleeping, or letting children sleep in their parent’s beds – Grumet admits it’s not for everyone. “You need to do what’s best for your own baby and your family,” she says. And not all of the criticism is coming from people against attachment parenting, Grumet notes. “I understand some of the breast-feeding advocates are actually upset about this,” she said on “Today.” Mommyish.com blogger Shawna Cohen, who says she practices some attachment parenting principles, wrote that she was disappointed in the Time cover. “It angers me because it portrays AP moms as being totally extreme,” she wrote in a blog post. “And in most cases, that couldn’t be further from the truth.” Even celebrities chimed in – including new mom Alyssa Milano. “Time, no! You missed the mark!” the actress wrote on Twitter. “You’re supposed to be making it easier for breastfeeding moms. Your cover is exploitative and extreme.” Grumet explains that the cover didn’t adequately demonstrate the nurturing side of attachment parenting. “This isn’t how we breastfeed at home,” she says. “It’s more of a cradling, nurturing situation.” Grumet, who has one other 5-year-old son, says she hopes to stop breastfeeding Aram, who turns 4 next month, sometime in the next year. Clearly TIME knew what they were doing with the controversial cover. And can you really blame them when subscriptions are probably in the dumps (believe us, they’ve been stalking us for a renewal). But we are happy to hear that three-year-old Aram isn’t really standing on a stool while he gnaws on his Mommy’s milk carriers. In his first interview since being fired by Current TV , Keith Olbermann told David Letterman on The Late Show Tuesday that “I screwed up really big.” Explaining his ouster using a drawn-out metaphor, he said, “It’s my fault it didn’t succeed in the sense that I didn’t think the whole thing through.” “I didn’t say, ‘you know, if you buy a $10 million chandelier, you should have a house to put it in. Just walking around with a $10 million chandelier isn’t going to do anybody a lot of good, and it’s not going to do any good to the chandelier.'” Keith Olbermann on The Late Show With David Letterman “And it turned out we didn’t have a lot to put the house on to put the chandelier in, or a building permit, and I should have known that. And it is my fault at heart.” “Now, I’ve been in situations in my lifetime where the second I agreed to something, I got that sinking feeling in my stomach and I’ve said to myself on those occasions, ‘Holy goodness, I’ve just made a huge mistake.’” “So … you’re the chandelier?” Letterman asked, genuinely wondering. We assume that’s what he meant. Olbermann, who was fired by MSNBC before signing on with Current about a year ago, went on to explain: “In that situation, what you’re thinking is, ‘Oh, Lord, this is probably going to hit the water at some point,’ but what do you do? You have – you could bail out and say I’m getting out of this immediately,’ and trust me, I was thinking about that as early as like last July.” “We’d been on the air about 10 days and they fired the guy who knew what he was doing who I worked for and I went, ‘Uh-oh.’” “But I went home and just sort of had a conversation with myself and said, ‘Look, these – the two important groups that are more important than what I do about myself – the audience who, you know, went to struggle to find where the network was and join me, and, most importantly, the staff.’” “And I had 25 people who, most of them came with me from other jobs, one guy was with me four different places, and they put their careers at risk for me, and I didn’t even get a chance to say goodbye to them let alone thank them.” “I’m, you know, I’m so proud of them because the show editorially was never better, but I let them down because the thing didn’t continue.”

Will Ryan Seacrest be taking over for Matt Lauer on The Today Show ? The American Idol host addressed that rumor this morning… to Matt Lauer on The Today Show . After joking about taking both Lauer’s job and that of weatherman Al Roker, Seacrest revealed that, yes, he has signed a new deal with NBC Universal. But Lauer can rest easy. “The plan is for me to join the NBC family and continue to have a role at the E! network,” Ryan said. “The first assignment will be to join the prime time team for the Olympics on NBC.” From there, who knows. But one thing is certain: this appearance by Seacrest will garner far less criticism for The Today Show than yesterday’s ratings stunt of having Sarah Palin co-host .

A look at Lindsay Lohan’s face reveals some pretty drastic changes in recent years. But did the actress get plastic surgery, or is it just a result of age? The 25-year-old’s new look has sparked speculation from experts that she’s substituted an alcohol and drug addiction for a plastic surgery addiction. “Unfortunately it looks like it,” plastic surgeon Dr. Anthony Youn, who hasn’t treated her, said, adding that when he looks at Lindsay Lohan photos : “She appears to have a classic, over-plumped pillow face. Her cheeks look like she’s storing nuts. I suspect she’s undergone multiple injections of filler.” Ouch. If you look at Lindsay on the Today show this week (above right) and back in her Mean Girls heyday (left), though, the difference is quite strong. No one’s as fresh-faced as they were 5-6 years earlier, but aging doesn’t just change the general contours of one’s face, does it? You tell us below: What do you think? Did Lindsay get work done?

I only hate Lindsay Lohan cuz she ignores me after celebrating a beautiful night in a hotel together…with other people cuz you have to understand for months she was texting me all the time….back in her crazy days….before she decided to get herself on track….even though by the looks of her she looks far crazier now…. So I sent her this message…. Because her face is hilarious….she didn’t answer me…. I can’t understand why she’s doing this shit to herself…cuz she’s hotter when not jacked up with injection of putty. But even more hilarious is her interview on the Today show….I am amazed she’s only 25…..I still find her hot…I am ready for her Oscar….I just preferred her when she was addicted to drugs and made bad choices like hanging with me.

After rumors surfaced that Aretha Franklin got uninvited to Whitney Houston’s homegoing service because of an interview with the Today show she is ready to set the record straight with a new statement: Extra TV, the New York Post and Newsday (New York) should stop the BS. Cissy Houston and I have been longtime friends for almost 50 years. I have four invitations and parking passes that were sent to me for the funeral. Extra TV, the New York Post and Newsday (New York) are more interested in sensationalism and negative speculations than the truth. People are getting their information from the wrong source. The intelligent and the thoughtful thing to do would be to respect and have some sensitivity to the moment. If you don’t know how, at least try. Cissy does not need ridiculous speculation and neither do I—particularly at this time. Also, with respect to the Today Show, my entire statement was pre-taped. However, the Today Show did not air the part of my statement, which said, “This is no reflection on Cissy or Nippy’s upbringing.” Knowing Cissy as well as I do, I know Whitney left home right and properly. I was generalizing and it was a well intended statement for any young adult coming into the music industry. I was not speaking of anyone specifically.
