Women In New York Protest For The Right To Drop Their Tops If Rick Ross can flaunt his triple Ds, women should be able to also. Well, at least that’s what this group of New Yorkers think… Some two dozen topless women protested in a New York City park on a hot, sweaty Sunday as part of what they called “National Go-Shirtless Day” to draw attention to inequality in shirtless rights between men and women. There were shirtless men in the park, too, but nobody paid them much attention, a disparity, organizers said, that demonstrated the need for the event. “We say there is nothing wrong with the female nip,” Karen Heaven, an organizer of the event, told the crowd that quickly formed around her in Manhattan’s Bryant Park. She was wearing white pants and not much else besides a purse over her shoulder. “My dog has six, I have two, but I can be put in jail for showing my nips. It’s 2012 — what are we thinking?” It is legal for women to go shirtless in public in New York City but laws vary widely across the United States. Heaven and her colleagues say discrimination is unconstitutional and they want full equality. Similar protests were scheduled in about 30 U.S. cities and 10 around the world, organizers said. Several women waved signs saying: “Equal Shirtless Rights For All.” We bet this was a sight to see on a Sunday afternoon. Do you think women should have the right to bare their bossoms? As a dig at Kris Humphries, Kim Kardashian appears in a new Kanye West music video just as her current boyfriend is slamming her estranged husband. Following events today in court, however, the reality star may need to come up with more overt ways to bash the heck out of this professional baller. Attorneys for both sides of this failed marriage – Laura Wasser for Kim and Marshall Waller for Kris – appeared before Judge Stephen Moloney in L.A. Superior Court. The goal? To essentially figure out why the heck a 72-day marriage with a prenuptial agreement is taking so long to legally destroy. The answer, according to Waller, is that he simply needs time to collect the evidence that will supposedly prove Kardashian defrauded his client into marriage. And Kardashian’s lawyer isn’t really helping him gather what he needs to. “I don’t want to use the word uncooperative, but they are not making the process easier,” Waller told the judge, adding that he plans to depose 33 witnesses and has so far been unsuccessful in obtaining Kris Jenner’s business records. He said it could take four more months to collect all the discovery he desires. Wasser, meanwhile, has no clue what to make of all this. She says Humphries actually sent a process server with a Nordstrom box to Kardashian’s home. Inside was a deposition request for West. “To say I am frustrated is an understatement,” said Wasser, who has claimed in the past that Humphries is simply dragging out this battle for PR purposes and plans on making him pay the $250,000-plus in legal fees that Kim has accrues so far. She had a simple question for the judge today: “To what end does he want this annulment?” It’s unclear, and it may remain that way for a very long time: Judge Moloney set the next court date at November 28 for a status conference..

Megadeth frontman Dave Mustaine says President Barack Obama somehow “staged” the recent Colorado shooting as part of a conspiracy to ban guns. Seriously. In comments that may put even Ted Nugent to shame, Dave suggested that Obama was behind the massacre perpetrated by James Holmes … and a lot more. At a Tuesday, August 7 performance in Singapore, Mustaine told the crowd, “Back in my country, my president … he’s trying to pass a gun ban.” “So he’s staging all of these murders, like the ‘Fast And Furious’ thing down at the border … Aurora, Colorado, all the people that were killed there … and the beautiful people at the [Wisconsin Sikh temple].” The rocker continued, “I don’t know where I’m gonna live if America keeps going the way it’s going because it looks like it’s turning into Nazi America.” One major hole in Mustaine’s “theory” (besides basic facts): Obama has not made any push for gun control in the wake of these tragedies. In any case, Mustaine is not a big Obama fan. He endorsed Rick Santorum for the GOP nomination this spring, and has been part of the “birther” crusade. In an interview with Alex Jones (below), Dave wondered why no one has tried to impeach Obama, “With all of the proof about his birth certificate being fake.” “And you see the signs in Kenya that say ‘the birthplace of Barack Obama.’ Hello?! C’mon, guys. How stupid are we right now?” A very good question, Dave. One that’s left us speechless.

With some cryptic remarks at his concert Saturday night, Drake broke his silence about his alleged involvement in a violent bar brawl with Chris Brown last week. Days after the brawl left several people injured, caused massive property damage and got W.i.P. nightclub shut down , many unanswered questions remain. Drake cleared up none of them at Jones Beach in Long Island, N.Y., but he did appear to allude to the bottle-bashing melee between his crew and Brown’s. According to the N.Y. Daily News , Drake told the crowd : “When I woke up this morning, I had to think about a lot of things. But the only thing I gave a f–k about was that I was in New York City tonight.” Later during the show, he said, “It’s last call and you’re really too drunk to give a f–k … A n—a in the corner is standing there looking at you funny.” “You bump elbows with him on the way to the bathroom, but really there’s only one n—a that you got to think about.” So, yeah. There you go. Read into that however you like! Until this, the rapper has remained largely silent, issuing a statement through his rep last week that denied any involvement in the fracas. The club was shut down by law enforcement officials, who cited a litany of previous violations that culminated in Thursday’s notorious brawl. By Nadeska Alexis Rick Ross Photo: Roger Kisby/ Getty Images Considering the star power that had already passed through Austin, Texas beginning with Jay-Z’s Monday night performance , it was only fitting that Rick Ross would make a surprise appearance at SXSW to wrap up the week’s festivities. The FADER FORT was packed to the brim all week, hosting acts like Kendrick Lamar, The-Dream and 2 Chainz, but the “TBD” spot for their closing set on Saturday night was the subject of much speculation. Jay-Z, Kanye West , Lil Wayne , 50 Cent and Eminem had all shown up earlier in the week, so it was reasonable to assume that hip-hop’s reigning titan would also get in on the action. Memphis Tennessee rapper, Gangsta Boo, opened up Fader’s last set of the festival performing old hits, new singles and her verse on the Eminem-featured Yelawolf single “Throw It Up” before passing the mic off to Maybach Music Group rapper Stalley. The Ohio native dipped into his mixtape Lincoln Way Nights (Intelligent Trunk Music then performed the Chad Hugo-produced single “Everything New,” from his upcoming project Savage Journey to the American Dream before exiting. Stalley had only left the stage for a few minutes when Ross showed up, launching right into bangers like “I’m Not A Star,” after being introduced to the crowd as ” the Hottest MC in the Game. ” At this point, the Miami rapper has no shortage of hits and the crowd received every new track, including “Hustlin'” and his verse on “I’m On One,” with enthusiasm. Solange Knowles hung in the VIP area dancing and singing-a-long to songs like “Aston Martin Music,” which Ross so kindly dedicated to all of the women in the house. Ross summoned Stalley back to the stage to perform his Rich Forever cut “Party Heart,” but perhaps the most triumphant moment of the set came during the introduction to the mixtape’s title track. “My success was not overnight,” he told the crowd. “MMG started as a dream, MMG started in a basement. Now 31, Jaycee Dugard, who had been kidnapped at age 11 and held prison for 18 years, appeared at her first public event since her ordeal this weekend. Receiving the Inspiration Award at famed fashion designer-philanthropist Diane von Furstenberg’s DVF Awards held at the United Nations, her words resonated. “My name is Jaycee Dugard , and I want to say that because for a long time I wasn’t able to say my name and so it feels good,” she told the crowd. “I am truly honored to be here tonight with all of these amazing women who have done and been through so much more than me.” Dugard, who had two children fathered by her kidnapper, got very emotional when she thanked her mother’s unwavering support and faith. “I have to say I felt her hope for many years and it gave me the strength to go on and live,” the soft-spoken Dugard said. “And I did live.” “I have two beautiful daughters who I love with all my heart.” Oprah Winfrey herself presented the honor to Jaycee at the DVF Awards, dedicated to honoring women for continued leadership, strength and courage. Winfrey, who received the Lifetime Leadership award, said she had been eager to meet Dugard “to tell her how much her story and her life meant to me.” “I am so proud of you,” said Winfrey . “You are using your courage and your strength and your power to show the world that you care.” Speaking about her JAYC Foundation that helps families recovering from abduction, Dugard urged people to empower themselves by helping others. “My hope is to be remembered for what I do, not to what happened to me,” she said with a smile. Based on this appearance, she’s well on her way.

Mariah Carey’s weight loss is the topic of the new cover story of Us Weekly. The slimmed-down singer had plenty to say about the prior week’s too. She appeared to make a comment about Kim Kardashian’s divorce at a press conference for Carey’s introduction as the new face of Jenny (formerly Jenny Craig). “I’m a real person, I’m not putting on a fake face for Hollywood,” Carey told the crowd, then spoke about her marriage to Nick Cannon, with whom she has twins. “Sometimes we really make each other mad, and that’s why we aren’t divorced after four months,” she cracked, as the crowd audibly gasped after that remark. The poster child for quickie divorces/defecating on the institution of marriage these days, of course, is Kardashian, who lasted all of 72 days with Kris Humphries . That’s not even three months, but whatever. Carey was sheepish after her joke, prompting the “Butterfly” singer to sort of take it back: “I’m sorry, just saying.” And we’re just saying … that she’s kalling like it is. Sorry Kim.
