Bill Gothard: Duggar Church Founder Sued For Sexual Abuse

In March of 2014, Institute for Basic Life Principles founder Bill Gothard resigned in disgrace amidst allegations that he had sexually abused dozens of female employees.  Last month, after more than a year away from the public eye, Gothard – who might be best known for his close relationship to the Duggar family – relaunched his website and social media accounts, and was immediately bombarded with accusations of sexual assault . His alleged victims said it was their way of sending Gothard the message that his crimes have not been forgotten, and that they intend to see him in court. Yesterday, five of those women – Gretchen Wilkinson, Charis Barker, Rachel Frost, Rachel Lees and a Jane Doe – made good on that promise by filing a lawsuit against Gothard in which they each seek $50,000 in damages. Obviously, the suit could prove profoundly damaging for Gothard and his ministry, particularly since it may inspire more of his alleged victims (over 30 in total) to take legal action.  It may also have a negative impact on the reputation of Gothard’s most famous followers – the Duggar family. The 80-year-old pastor has been linked to the Duggars for decades and may be responsible for some of their most controversial beliefs and actions. Gothard was involved in “counseling” Josh Duggar  after the Michelle and Jim Bob’s eldest admitted to molesting his sisters. In addition, his IBLP provided the Duggars with homeschooling curricula that teaches children that victims of sexual assault are partially to blame for their attackers’ actions.  While the family is in no way directly linked to the allegations against Gothard, if a court finds that the minister used his power to “cover up sexual abuse and harassment” (as the suit alleges), the Duggars’ already-shrinking fan base may be reminded of the ways in which the 19 Kids and Counting clan did the same. 10 Cool Pics of Stars Hanging With Younger Versions of Themselves!

Oscar season is almost upon us, and as the Hollywood's most talented (or at least most desperate) stars prepare to launch campaigns that they hope will result in career defining gold guys and overlong acceptance speeches, we thought it would be a good time to look back at where they came from.  These pics of present-day A-listers hanging with younger versions of themselves have been making the rounds online, and they serve as a pretty cool reminder that some stars never age – and some made horrendous fashion statements in the not-so-distant past. So enjoy this weird trip down red carpet memory lane. Just don't tell Little Leo he still doesn't have an Oscar !   1. Leonardo DiCaprio in 2013 and 1989 Leo works the red carpet with young Leo. Fun fact: these two guys have won the exact same number of Oscars! 2. Amy Adams in 2014 and 1999 Amy Adams is feeling herself. Literally. We envy her right now, and it’s very confusing. 3. Christian Bale in 2013 and 1987 Christian Bale at ages 13 and 39. The way this guy transforms, he could probably still play a 6th-grader. 4. Julia Roberts in 2013 and 1989 Julia Roberts in her prime and…in her other prime. Seriously, what deal with the Devil did this woman make? 5. Matthew McConaughey in 2014 and 1996 Alright, alright, alright. Let’s all be happy Matt lost his interest in giant vampire-slayer wooden cross jewelry. 6. Meryl Streep in 1980 and 2013 Meryl Streep has aged remarkably well. We guess dominating awards season every year helps keep you young! View Slideshow

Chet Haze: Tom Hanks’ Rapper Son Threatens Howard Stern on Twitter

You may already be familiar with the name Chet Haze. If not, prepare to be annoyed: Chet Haze: White and Purple That, friends, is the hardest rapper in the game, Chester Hanks, aka Tom Hanks’ son, aka Chet straight outta muthaf–kin’ Malibu Haze! We already knew that Chet is an embarrassment to Hanks  and his wife (as he should be) but now it seems that the rest of the world is catching on to what a human facepalm this kid is. It seems Chet’s been taking a lot of flak this week, as a result of an interview on Eminem’s Sirius station in which the DJ and callers positively tore him a new one. (“You’re not Tom Hanks. You just came out of Tom Hanks’ d-ck,” is our favorite quote.) Like the rest of the world, Howard Stern found this hilarious and decided to crack a few jokes at Chet’s expense: Howard Stern on Chet Haze Actually pretty tame by Stern standards, but Chet wasn’t havin’ it, G! The former Mr. Chester Marlon Hanks went off on Stern in a lengthy Twitter rant, in which he promised the radio icon, “I am going to see you in person, and I am going to hurt you.” He went on to blast Stern’s show as “LAME FUCKING YUPPIE HUMOR!”  Yes, the son of Tom Hanks’ son (whose name, again, is Chester) is calling other people yuppies. The worst part of this whole thing is that Chet Haze is fresh from rehab so he can’t even blame his idiocy on drugs.  Stern has yet to publicly respond to the fact that he now has beef with the realest thug in Beverly Hills, but we imagine he’ll address Chester’s complaints on his show tomorrow. 17 Most Intelligent Rappers in the Game 1. Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson: Separated Over the Summer?!

Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson have long been considered one of Hollywood’s most stable couples. Hanks is one of the world’s most popular actors, and yet the tabloids rarely report on his marriage because, well…there’s nothing to report. At least that as the case until today, when In Touch revealed that Hanks and Wilson hit a serious rough patch and separated briefly earlier this summer. After 26 years of marriage there was reportedly a period in which it looked as though Tom and Rita were ready to call it quits for good. A divorce would’ve been more shocking than the sight of Hanks dancing to Montell Jordan with Justin Bieber , so we’re happy to report the couple is back together! Sources say that while they continued to attend social functions together, Hanks and Wilson lived in separate residences for several weeks. Little is known about the cause of the split, and the source claims that Hanks and Wilson simply weren’t “seeing eye-to-eye.” Hanks turned 57 recently, and in addition to being one of most acclaimed actors in the history of cinema, he and his wife are said to be one of Hollywood’s kindest couples.  So it’s hard to imagine what could’ve caused such a rift between them. We’re guessing it had something to do with the fact that their son is a douchey gangsta rapper . 12 Most Shocking Hollywood Divorces 1. Tom Hanks Reveals Diabetes Diagnosis to David Letterman

Tom Hanks will soon make headlines again for his sterling talent, as the actor is receiving Oscar buzz for his portrayal of the title character in Captain Phillips . But the beloved star has been in the news recently for a couple off-screen reasons: First, he was selected for jury duty . And last night, during an appearance on The Late Show with David Letterman, he revealed that he’s been diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes. Tom Hanks Reveals Diabetes Diagnosis Responding to the host’s comment about how much weight he’s lost, Hanks shared what went down during a recent physician appointment. “My doctor said, ‘Look, if you can weigh as much as you weighed in high school, you will essentially be completely healthy and not have type 2 diabetes,'” Hanks said. “And I said to her, ‘Well, I’m gonna have type 2 diabetes.’” The star added that he has shed many pounds, but there’s no way he can get back down to his teenage figure. Type 2 Diabetes is the most common form of this disease. Other stars afflicted with it include Patti LaBelle, Drew Carey, Sherri Shepherd and Paula Deen. We wish Hanks the best of luck in his fight against it and we encourage readers to watch the Captain Phillips trailer . This movie looks great.

Tom Hanks Is Everywhere! Promotes ‘Cloud Atlas’ And Pal Spielberg’s ‘Lincoln’ In Single Night

If human cloning has begun, I’d like to wager some money that Tom Hanks is an early adopter. The actor has been everywhere over the last week,  making the media rounds to promote his latest picture,  the ambitious Cloud Atlas ,   and his friend Steven Spielberg’s film Lincoln as well.  On Comedy Central’s  The Colbert Report on Thursday night, the actor worked in a clever nod to the six roles he plays in Cloud Atlas (well, four of them, anyway) in a Halloween-themed skit that featured kids costumed as some of the more memorable characters that Hanks has portrayed over the years, including Woody from Toy Story , Chuck Noland from Cast Away , replete with a “Wilson” volley ball cut open to function as a candy bag, astronaut Jim Lovell from Apollo 13 — an “Oscar-denied hero” as Hanks pointed out — and Captain Miller from Saving Private Ryan . His co-star in that film, Matt Damon ,  even made a cameo dressed as a soldier to grouse about being in the skit and say that that he’d rather be drunk at a movie theater “heckling Argo,”   his bud Ben Affleck’s picture. I particularly love Hanks having fun with his nice guy image — at one point, he grouses about “that punk Joseph Gordon Levitt nipping at my heels” — and the self-promotion chores of Hollywood. After telling Colbert: “Six characters in one movie, isn’t it great!”, one of the kids in  Cloud Atlas  costumes  declares: “I smell Oscar buzz!” The segment ran almost 10 minutes, but the there was more of Hanks to be had on TV that night.  If you had your DVR recording The Late Show with David Letterman , Hanks also appeared in what the talk-show host claimed was a clip from Spielberg’s Lincoln . Funny, I never knew that they served popcorn and trash-can sized cups of soda at the Ford Theater back in Lincoln’s day. Two more reasons why Hanks isn’t just aces as an actor, he’s one of the most entertaining talk-show guests out there. Follow Frank DiGiacomo on Twitter. Follow Movieline on Twitter.

It’s a good fall for ambitious movies. In the wake of the September release of Paul Thomas Anderson ‘s The Master , Warner Bros will open Tom Tykwer and the Wachowski siblings’  Cloud Atlas to theaters on Oct. 26, and a trio of TV spots has begun building awareness of the film adaptation of David Mitchell’s 2004 novel.  Check out the clips after the jump and stay tuned for Jen Yamato’s upcoming report on the film’s debut at Fantastic Fest in Austin, TX on Wednesday night.  Mitchell’s story featured six interconnected stories that spanned from the 19th century to a post-apocalyptic future. Judging from the TV spots, which feature Tom Hanks, Halle Berry and Hugo Weaving, among other cast members, Tykwer ( Run, Lola, Run ) and the Wachowskis have remained true to the book’s central themes about the cyclical nature of life and the universality of human nature. Now Playing: President Obama and Tom Hanks in The Road We’ve Traveled

A week ago brought the first teaser for The Road We’ve Traveled , a Davis Guggenheim-directed, Tom Hanks-narrated, campaign-driven lighting round through the Obama presidency to date. Last night brought the full 17-minute video, and while it squeezes a lot — from the economy to healthcare to the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan — into 17 minutes, it’s probably most interesting around the 10:35 mark as Joe Biden takes us behind the scenes on the night Osama bin Laden was killed. Just saying! It’s a step up from Larry Crowne , in any case. Follow S.T. VanAirsdale on Twitter . Follow Movieline on Twitter .
