Miley Cyrus: I Want to Be a Role Model

For Miley Cyrus, it’s the end of an era. No, we aren’t referring to the time in her life when she wore pants and didn’t look ridiculous each time she took the stage. Instead, we’re paraphrasing the singer herself in a recent interview with The Montreal Gazette . Cyrus spoke to the newspaper and explained her decision to end Hannah Montana after this season: “You don’t want it to grow up too much, where the younger audience feel they can’t watch the show anymore. But also, [don’t] go backwards and make it so young that you lose the older fans that you have. It’s just kind of come to a point where there’s not much more we could do with [the show].” Miley is focusing on her career as an adult actress , a transformation she understands isn’t easy to take for many fans. “I want to be a role model and have people look up to me, but this also doesn’t mean that I am not going to live the way that I want to live,” she said. “I’m going to grow up at some point, and I’ve been always honest about that.” Just so you know, Miles, wearing skimpy clothing on stage and pretending to make out with female dancers is NOT the sign of a grown-up. These are the actions of an immature child desperate for attention.

Eminem Shouts Out Lil Wayne During Scotland Gig

‘Free Lil Wayne!’ Em shouted before launching into ‘No Love’ at T in the Park festival. By James Montgomery Eminem (file) Photo: Kevin Mazur/ Getty Images He took the stage nearly 45 minutes late — allegedly due to “laser pen fears” — but Eminem more than made up for the delay with a fiery headlining performance on Saturday at the T in the Park festival in Scotland . Em’s made just a handful of live appearances over the past year (his last U.S. gig was a headlining slot at the Voodoo Fest in New Orleans back in October), yet he didn’t show any signs of rust at T, ripping through a 29-song set that spanned his entire career. Backed by a live band, he opened with “Won’t Back Down,” his collaboration with Pink off his comeback Recovery album , then worked through tracks including “3 a.m.” (from last year’s Relapse ), “Kill You” (off The Marshall Mathers LP ) and his breakout “My Name Is” (from 1999’s Slim Shady LP ). Em shouted “Free Lil Wayne!” before launching into “No Love,” the Haddaway-sampling song that features both rappers (obviously, Weezy couldn’t make it to the show). He dedicated “Love the Way You Lie” to “everyone who’s been in a f—ed up relationship” and paid tribute to his late friend (and former D12 member) Proof , telling the Scottish crowd about the time the two had devoured “weed brownies” in Amsterdam and “started speaking in tongues.” The remaining members of D12 joined Em for a run of their hits, including “Purple Pills,” “Fight Music” and “My Band.” He also acknowledged the rainy weather that had dogged the fest throughout the weekend (“I know it’s muddy and sloppy and sh–, but this is fun,” he laughed), and then, just before wrapping his set with an anthemic take on “Lose Yourself,” he thanked the crowd — and his fans worldwide — for sticking with him through the years. “Everybody who’s an Eminem fan, I just wanna say thank you so much for the support you’ve shown over the years, for not giving up on me,” he said. “I hope you enjoyed the show as much as we did tonight. Peace.” Related Artists Eminem Lil Wayne

Source: Chris Brown Faked BET Awards Tears

Chris Brown defenders are not gonna like this one bit. The singer received a lot of attention, both good and bad, for his tearful tribute to MJ at the BET Awards Sunday. As he sang “Man in the Mirror,” Chris broke down. The display of Brown channeling Michael Jackson and the lyrics hitting close to home united fans in support. Queen Latifah openly said Brown deserves forgiveness . Yet an insider tells Us Weekly today that it was fake. CROCODILE TEARS? The sincerity of Chris Brown’s display is debatable. Before he took the stage, a backstage source says one of Brown’s bodyguards gave the singer tear-inducing eye drops: “He rubbed it in and he started crying.” Brown’s rep denies it, telling Us that Brown simply “was moved by the opportunity to pay tribute to his idol.” But the witness says Brown definitely used drops . We may never know for sure, but it’s not the biggest stretch in the world. Was Brown’s tribute a blatant ploy for positive PR or a sincerely moving homage? You tell us: Chris Brown’s BET Awards performance was …

Eminem Honors Dr. Dre At ASCAP Awards Ceremony

‘He changed the face of music and he changed my life,’ Eminem says. By Kelly Marino Dr. Dre Photo: MTV News It’s been over a decade since his last solo album, but when Dr. Dre was honored with ASCAP’s Founders Award Friday night, it was a reminder to everyone that the doctor is still one of hip-hop’s biggest pioneers in the game today. The American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers held it’s 23rd annual Rhythm and Soul Music Awards last night at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Los Angeles, where some of music’s biggest names were recognized for their contributions to music. The biggest award of the night was handed to Dr. Dre for his achievements in the music industry and for inspiring and influencing his fellow music makers. The ASCAP association put together a presentation package that played across the big screens, highlighting some of Dre’s greatest quotes. One moment that had the audience cheering was Dre’s stab at critics, saying, “You can’t critique my sh– unless you have done half of the stuff I have accomplished.” Shortly after the piece ended, DJ Kid Capri took the stage to perform a set of songs chronicling Dr. Dre’s career that included early hits such as “Keep Their Heads Ringin’,” “Let Me Ride,” and “Gin and Juice” as well as more recent Dre productions such as “In Da Club,” “Family Affair,” and “Rich Girl.” Eminem made a rare, surprise appearance to present the award to Dr. Dre, whom he thanked for believing in him. “It would have been a lot easier for Dre to dismiss me like most people did,” Eminem stated. “But he didn’t. He stepped up to the challenge because he saw something in me. … He changed the face of music and he changed my life.” Dre then took the stage to accept the award, pausing during his speech as he fought back tears. “I’m living an incredible life,” he said. “Making a living doing what I love and having people love it. I can’t even explain what that feels like.” Dre went on to pay respects to his mother, who became pregnant with him at the age of 15. “She was always told by family, friends and neighbors or whatever, she was going to ruin her life and mine,” he said. He also thanked his wife, whom he described as his in-house A&R and playfully promised her he was going to give her “something real special for this tonight.” Closing out his speech, he thanked Jimmy Iovine, chairman of Interscope-Geffen-A&M Records, for being with him through his ups and downs, and last but certainly not least, his fans. Some of the other top awards handed out Friday were Songwriter of the Year, which Jimmy Jam presented to Ne-Yo and the hit-making duo C. “Tricky” Stewart and The-Dream, who tied with six chart-topping singles each. T.I. graced the stage to present fellow Atlantans Jermaine Dupri, Johnta Austin and Manuel Seal with Song of the Decade for “We Belong Together.” Matthew “Boi-1da” Samuels was honored for last year’s smash hit “Best I Ever Had,” which he wrote for Drake. “Blame It” by Jamie Foxx and featuring T-Pain earned writers Christopher Henderson, Brandon “Note” Melancon, The-Dream, C. “Tricky” Stewart, and Nate Walka the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Song of the Year. And Big Boi presented the ASCAP’s Vanguard Award to his friend and “high funktress” Janelle Monae, who accepted the award on behalf of her team the Wondaland Arts Society. Matt Giraud And Scott MacIntyre Lighten Up A Shocking ‘American Idol’

Season-eight finalists perform a dueling-pianos version of Billy Joel’s ‘Tell Her About It.’ By James Montgomery, with additional reporting by Gil Kaufman Matt Giraud on “American Idol” on Thursday Photo: Fox Amid the carnage and genuinely confusing results on Thursday night’s (March 11) “American Idol” (Aaron Kelly? Katie Stevens? Paige Miles?!?), two of last year’s hopefuls took the stage to lighten the mood with a sunny, dueling-pianos duet. Matt Giraud and Scott MacIntyre — who just released a brand-new album called Heartstrings — joined forces on an upbeat version of Billy Joel’s “Tell Her About It,” trading verses and runs up and down the keys. Backed by the “Idol” house band, the duo muscled their way through the song, with Giraud hitting a few falsetto spots, each ripping off rocking , fleet-fingered solos. The performance earned a standing ovation from the “Idol” crowd, and as Ryan Seacrest approached the two grand pianos, the host gave MacIntyre a chance to plug Heartstrings and asked Giraud about the status of his new EP, which he said is well under way. When MTV News spoke to Giraud last month, he told us about the EP, which he’s working on in Nashville with songwriters like Marcus Hummon (Rascal Flatts, the Dixie Chicks) and Monty Powell (Keith Urban). But he made sure to let us know that — unlike fellow season-eight hopeful Danny Gokey — he wasn’t about to get fitted for his 10-gallon hat. “I’m not really going country,” he said. “But they appreciate soul down there, and I’ve been playing with them and making great music. … Really, I’m just learning the craft of songwriting.” And while Giraud and MacIntyre’s version of “Tell Her About It” may have seemed slightly out of place on such a grim night, perhaps the newly departed contestants can take some solace in where each man is today. Giraud especially knows a thing or two about the heart-stopping “Idol” moments. After all, last season, he was voted off the show, only to be rescued by the judges when they used their controversial “save” to keep him around . Were you happy to see Matt and Scott back on the “Idol” stage? Will you check out their new music? Let us know below! Ludacris Says He And Tiger Woods Should Talk

‘Let’s go play some golf and talk about it,’ Atlanta MC says. By Jayson Rodriguez, with reporting by Sway Calloway Ludacris and Sway Photo: MTV News NEW YORK — Ludacris poked fun at Tiger Woods’ sex scandal on the intro to his new track “Sexting” from his forthcoming Battle of the Sexes album (due March 9), intimidating the embattled golf star’s frantic voice mail to one of his alleged mistresses. But the Atlanta rapper said there are no hard feelings behind the jab. “If I’m making fun of Tiger Woods, I’m also making fun of myself,” Luda told MTV News from Madison Square Garden before he took the stage Wednesday (February 24). On the Neptunes-produced song, “Sexting,” Luda raps about his own tale of sex addiction. “My girl went through my cell phone,” he spits, explaining how he got caught. Throughout the track, the Luda-as-Tiger voice mail plays. Luda said the track is only a reflection of reality. “This is what happens,” he explained of the inspiration behind the song. “So I’m just bringing to light what’s really going on in the world .” So, does Luda have a take on Tiger’s message to his mistress? “It’s very entertaining,” he laughed. “And I do feel as though he may have handled it wrong.” Ludacris, however, said he’d offer Tiger some advice — especially if the golf legend feels slighted by song. “I would say, ‘Let’s go play some golf and talk about it,’ ” he offered. “I take that back — I’d say, ‘Let’s go to the sex-rehab place together and let’s discuss it. Let me know where your sex-rehab place is and I’ll let you know where mine is. We got some things to get off our chest.’ Related Artists Ludacris
