Fourth Drake/Chris Brown Brawl Victim Comes Forward

Fourth victim claims she suffered spinal injury during fight and plans to sue Drake. By Gil Kaufman Drake and Chris Brown Photo: We haven’t heard very much from Chris Brown or Drake about what happened at a New York nightclub last week. But we have gotten a string of comments from at least three women
who claim to have been injured by flying bottles
in the melee. The latest alleged victim spoke up on Tuesday, telling TMZ that she thinks Drake is the one to blame for the fight and that she plans to sue him over her injuries. The woman, Vladimira Brace, has hired a lawyer, who is claiming that his client suffered a spinal injury when she was trampled in the chaos that erupted at the SoHo nightclub W.i.P. in the early morning hours of June 14. Attorney Allan Friedman has reportedly sent a letter to Drake’s reps that alleges, “Your client instigated a brawl with Mr. Chris Brown … [Drake’s] actions were reckless and negligent in inflaming a violent mob … My client personally observed several members of [Drake’s] entourage throwing bottles of champagne with reckless and criminal disregard of the well-being of the innocent bystanders.” Drake’s spokespeople have denied his involvement in the fight, saying he exited the club before it began. Quoting unnamed sources close to Drake, TMZ said the rapper’s reps called Friedman’s allegations “laughable,” referring to the attorney’s claims that the Toronto MC has a “well-documented history” of making “vulgar, abusive and profane remarks concerning women.” Drake’s people noted that he was at the club with just a few security guards, unlike Brown and fellow rapper Meek Mill
, who they claim had large entourages with them. And, in light of Brown’s past, which includes a felony assault plea
in connection with his 2009 attack on former girlfriend Rihanna, Drake’s reps said the suggestion that their guy has an abuse history with women is hard to justify. Brace is the fourth woman to come forward with claims that she was injured in the fight. In addition to Brown, who posted a photo of his split chin, as well as the singer’s bodyguard, who sustained a head injury, NBA star Tony Parker and Australian tourist Hollie C., have claimed injuries from the fight. Also, a 21-year-old model, Ingrid Gutierrez, claims to have suffered a blow to the head from a bottle and her lawyer said she may require plastic surgery. Another victim, Lucy Pavlovsky, said she suffered a gash to the arm that required 12 stitches and she too is said to be considering legal action against the responsible parties. Police have not made any arrests over the incident, but they have subpoenaed the security tapes from the club and are reviewing them. Related Artists Drake Chris Brown

Radiohead Pay Tribute To Drum Tech Killed In Stage Collapse

Band’s drummer, Philip Selway, says group is ‘shattered’ by death of friend Scott Johnson. By Gil Kaufman The collapsed section of stage at Toronto’s Downsview Park Photo: A day after a stage collapse
killed one person an injured three more, Radiohead issued a statement about the accident that caused the cancellation of their show at Toronto’s Downsview Park. The victim has been identified as the band’s drum tech, Scott Johnson, 33, a native of Doncaster, England. According to the Toronto Star , Johnson sustained a “crushing injury’ when the stage collapse while he and other members of the band’s crew were setting up the stage for the show. The other three crew members were taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Radiohead drummer Philip Selway issued a statement on Sunday paying tribute to Johnson. ” We have all been shattered by the loss of Scott Johnson, our friend and colleague,” he wrote. “He was a lovely man, always positive, supportive and funny; a highly skilled and valued member of our great road crew. We will miss him very much. Our thoughts and love are with Scott’s family and all those close to him.” The Star reported that three inspectors and two engineers from the Ministry of Labour scoured the accident scene on Sunday in search of the cause of the collapse. A spokesperson said the investigation is “fairly complex” and some industry professionals wondering what could have caused the incident, which occurred on an otherwise nice, sunny day with light winds. The incident is the latest in a string of stage collapses over the past year, which include a death at the Bluesfest in Ottawa last July, six deaths at a Sugarland concert
in Indianapolis in August and five deaths in Belgium
after a storm swept in and toppled a stage at the Pukkelpop Festival. Related Artists Radiohead

Yes, But What Does the First Photo from Iron Man 3 MEAN?

You may look at this first photo from the set of Iron Man 3 and think, “Gee, Tony Stark has a lot of toys.” I look at it — a shot of Robert Downey Jr. as Stark, gazing at his wall of Iron Man suits in a lab/Hall of Ego scattered with gadgets and gizmos aplenty — and remember I need to do laundry. Also, I need a bigger closet. Why does Tony Stark have so many wardrobe options? On the flip side, you could go way into depth surmising what all this hardware means, as EW’s Anthony Breznican does: It’s a big responsibility for whomever — we presume Stark’s automated butler JARVIS — to guard this stuff. Although Marvel Studios hasn’t released details of the plot, if you couple this official image with paparazzi shots last week revealing the Iron Patriot, a character using stolen Stark tech who literally wraps his armor in the flag to justify his actions, we may be seeing the issue of proliferation rising again for ol’ Tony. Sure, sure. But wait… what could this one face-obscured behind-the-scenes shot mean for the meaning of Iron Man 3 ? What comes next could be too powerful even for Stark to control. If rumors are true that Iron Man 3 filmmaker Shane Black ( Kiss Kiss Bang Bang ) is taking his cues from the Iron Man comic series Extremis , which deals with nanotechnology injected directly into human beings to make them more powerful, then it’s no longer a matter of who is inside the weapon than what kind of weapon is inside the person. And that next case on the wall, which looks eerily like a row of coffins now, would have to contain Tony Stark himself . WHOA. Way existential, man. Who agrees? Who’s excited? Who’s wondering if we’re really butt-gazing at RDJ’s stand-in while the real RDJ is over snacking at craft services? [ EW ]

A Not So Hippie Premiere of Peace, Love & Misunderstanding in New York

A swarm of celebs including cast members turned out Monday night for the New York premiere of Jane Fonda and Catherine Keener starrer, Peace, Love & Misunderstanding at the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA). The event, which benefited The Women’s Media Center, held its post-screening bash at the Royalton Hotel in Midtown. The party didn’t take a cue from the film’s hippie-vibe, but who needs bohemian when there’s champagne and sliders to guzzle! Along with Fonda and Keener, fellow cast members Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Chace Crawford, NatWolff, Marissa O’Donnell and Maddie Corman joined in for the party hosted by Forevermark and The Wall Street Journal. Directed by Driving Miss Daisy director Bruce Beresford, the film, which had its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival last fall (followed by a U.S. debut at the Woodstock Film Festival – natch!) follows Manhattan lawyer Diane (Keener) who drives her teenage son Jake (Nat Wolff) and adult daughter Zoe (Elizabeth Olsen) to visit their Woodstock-bound hippie grandmother Grace (Fonda), who the kids have never met. Grace stages protests, smokes and sells dope, but their weekend getaway morphs into a summer adventure of romance, music and more. “It was amazing to have such veteran actors like Jane Fonda and Catherine Keener working alongside newcomers [at the time] Nat Wolff and Elizabeth Olsen,” Peace producer Claude Dal Farra told ML. “This was actually the first movie-set for Elizabeth and Nat.” Others at the party Monday included Robin Morgan, GloriaSteinem, Carol Alt, Ashleigh Banfield, Joshua Bell, Jewelle Bickford, Sandy Brant, Julie Burton, Ron Claiborne, Jamie Colby, Alan Cox ( The Dictator ), Rebecca Dayan ( Celeste & Jesse Forever ), Aleksa Palladino ( Boardwalk Empire ), Savanna Wise ( Smash ) and Casper Zafer ( The Vampire Diaries ). IFC Films will open Peace, Love & Misunderstanding beginning this Friday. [Photo credit: Amanda Schwab/Starpix]

Gotye To Release ‘Somebody That I Used To Know’ Remix Album

Australian singer also prepping U.S. tour and re-release of his 2006 album. By Gil Kaufman Gotye Photo: Eleven Gotye has scored the longest-running #1 hit on the Billboard Hot 100 chart with “Somebody That I Used To Know.” So if one hit is good, 10 must be better, right? That seems to be the logic behind the upcoming release of a “Somebody” remix album, which, according to The Hollywood Reporter , is scheduled to drop on iTunes June 8 and feature reworkings of the song by Adrock, Tiesto, Gang of Colours, Bibio, M-Phazes, Faux Pas, 4Frnt, Sneaker For, Dan Aux and Miami Nights 1984. “Somebody” just marked its seventh week at #1, passing the year’s other inescapable single, fun.’s “We Are Young,” which held the top spot for six weeks. And if you’re psyched about that Gotye bounty, you’ll be even more excited to hear that the singer’s Australia-only 2006 sophomore album, Like Drawing Blood , will get re-released in the U.S. in July. But wait, there’s more! Gotye will kick off a 33-date North American tour on August 22 in Denver, Colorado at the legendary Red Rocks Amphitheatre with support from Chairlift, Missy Higgins and Zammuto, but, alas, not Kimbra, the other voice heard on “Somebody.” Along the way, the tour will take Gotye to a number of landmark events and venues, including the Bumbershoot Music and Arts Festival, Los Angeles’ Greek Theatre, New York’s Radio City Music Hall, Nashville’s Ryman Auditorium and Austin, Texas, where he’ll wrap things up on October 13 with a slot at the Austin City Limits festival. Nicki Minaj Asks Fans To Vote For Next Roman Reloaded Singles

Young Money honey posted three different singles polls on her website on Thursday. By James Dinh Nicki Minaj’s Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded Photo: Universal It’s only been a little more than a week since Nicki Minaj dropped the clip for her Chris Brown collabo “Right by My Side,” but everyone’s favorite Harajuku Barbie is continuing her Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded takeover and needs a little help in selecting her new singles. On Thursday night, Minaj’s website revealed three polls with various options from the sophomore effort. With Roman Reloaded crossing hip-hop and pop genres, Barbz and Kenz have quite a few Minaj stylings to select as their ideal singles. While the first race is between the more mellow pop cuts on the LP (“Marilyn Monroe,” “Fire Burns,” “Young Forever” and “Gun Shot”), the second battle includes tracks that bring out the rapper’s harder alter ego Roman (“Champion,” “HOV Lane” and “I Am Your Leader”). In the last poll, head Barbie has pitted three of her dance anthems against each other (“Pound the Alarm,” “Whip It” and “Va Va Voom”). Shortly after the website posting, Minaj also took to Twitter to urge Team Minaj to sound off in the fun, writing, “Take the poll!!! And leave your comments. Gonna read them now.” At press time, “Marilyn Monroe,” “Champion” and “Va Va Voom” appeared to have the majority of votes. Barbz and Kenz have plenty of reason to be excited, as they’ve been flooded with a string of new singles all year long. Even before the LP hit stores, they were treated to the frenetic “Stupid Hoe,” which saw the Young Money honey taking a cluster of jabs at Lil’ Kim. Strategically releasing cuts to appease her growing fanbase, Minaj went on to the album’s lead single, “Starships,” a RedOne-produced number that was clearly catered to the Top 40 dance craze. And as predicted, the magic worked when the song peaked at #5 on Billboard ‘s Hot 100. Soon after, the femcee balanced out the pop tune with the release of her ode to strippers, “Beez in the Trap.” Most recently, Minaj released the visual for her Chris Brown-assisted R&B jam “Right by My Side,” which also features a cameo love interest by none other than Nas. Regardless of the poll winners, Minaj is already performing many of the cuts on her worldwide Pink Friday Tour, which will hit the States in July. Laurieann Gibson, who serves as the raptress’ choreographer, spoke to MTV News recently about the trek, revealing that it’s something she’s “really, really proud of.” “I love [when] I heard Roman Reloaded. I loved her delivery. I love the way she flows,” Gibson told MTV News . “So the Pink Friday Tour is really good and it’s kind of like a glimpse back to what a real rap show is. It’s intimate but big at the same time.” What do you want Nicki’s next singles to be? Tell us your suggestions below. Related Artists Nicki Minaj

Drake’s Says His Critics ‘Let Me Know That I’m Relevant’

‘It’s important for me to let my fans know I really don’t care. I’m confident,’ Drake tells MTV News of how he deals with constant criticism. By Rob Markman, with reporting by Sway Calloway Drake Photo: MTV News Drake understands that no artist is above criticism. So it’s not that Drizzy doesn’t hear his detractors, he just chooses to ignore them. At least that’s what he told MTV News’ Sway Calloway during a May 17 Club Paradise tour stop in Houston, Texas. “There will be days when I walk in an arena and people will cheer and then there might be days when I walk in an arena and people might boo, but it all sounds the same to me because it’s all just noise that lets me know that I’m relevant,” Drake said, sharing some words of wisdom that was given to him by boxing champ Floyd Mayweather. “I don’t get booed,” Drizzy continued. “I don’t face that. I mean he faces that challenge but my challenge is more with social media and open opinions and people just feeling like they need to talk.” Drake’s music, and just about his every move, is dissected through the media as well as on Twitter and blogs. The fact that he sings as well as raps has made him a target for those looking to take away his hip-hop cred. Still, the “Headlines” MC remains one of rap’s most successful draws today. Common called him out the OVO general on “Sweet,” a single from his 2011 album The Dreamer/The Believer . Many also believe that G.O.O.D Music’s Pusha T has also been throwing subliminal jabs at Drake, first on last year’s “Don’t F–k With Me” freestyle, then on his “Sweet” freestyle. Pusha has gone on record saying that he wasn’t dissing Drake and he actually likes the Toronto MC’s music, but after Push dropped his new single “Exodus 23:1,” speculation began to swirl that he was again taking aim and Drake and his mentor Lil Wayne . Weezy responded with a poignant tweet: “F— pusha t and anybody that love em.” It is important to note that when he sat with Sway, Drake did not address Pusha T or any other rappers directly, but he did speak about his detractors in a very general sense. “It’s important for me to let my fans know I really don’t care. I’m confident,” he said sternly. “I love the music I make and the videos I make and the people I associate with and every decision I’ve ever made.” For Drake, taking the stage on each stop of his Club Paradise Tour is all the assurance that he needs. “Just to let [fans] know that I don’t care about anything else outside of this right here,” he said from backstage at Houston’s Toyota Center, referencing the army of fans waiting for him to perform. “That other stuff, hiding behind computers and yip-yapping all day on radio stations, it’s like that’s cool, man, for points and popularity, but at the end of the day, there is still 15,000 people here.” Have you seen Drake’s Club Paradise show yet?
