Move over, Missy Franklin . You aren’t the only Olympian receiving best wishes from the stars. With Justin Bieber having recorded a video message for that swimming sensation, the cast of The CW’s Vampire Diaries has now gone ahead and done the same for Gabby Douglas. While the gymnast finished last in yesterday’s uneven bars, she remains one of this year’s U.S. darlings, capturing team Gold and individual Gold in the all-around competition. She gets back to it this evening and Ian Somerhalder and company are here to wish her and teammate Aly Raisman the very best of luck. Watch now:

Michael Phelps stepped out with Megan Rossee on his arm last night in London. The newly-retired Olympic swimming legend, whose work in these games (and all future games) is done, made his red carpet debut with his very pretty, newly-revealed girlfriend at an event for Speedo, one of Phelps’ primary sponsors. Here’s Michael with Megan Rossee at the event … They didn’t do much press, but Michael Phelps’ girlfriend did say she’s doing well so far handling the torrent of publicity after being identified. The 27-year-old has been linked to seemingly endless women in recent years, but has probably dated none of them seriously. Training and all. Now that he’s won a record 22 Olympic medals and called it a career, perhaps that will change. Last night’s public debut certainly suggests it. “Megan and Michael have been taking things slow leading up to the Olympics, but they are excited to spend more time together,” says a source. “Megan is a beautiful person, inside and out.” They’ve supposedly been together five months, so it sounds like Phelps and Rossee are going strong! Here’s hoping they enjoy their planned post-Olympic vacation.

This past October, we looked long and hard briefly at the most pirated films of all time — a fairly predictable list that included blockbuster titles like Avatar , The Dark Knight and Transformers . Today, TorrentFreak has released a more current snapshot of the movie-stealing industry: A list of the top ten pirated films this year. Surprisingly, there are a few films on this list that you probably paid to see. Courtesy of TorrentFreak, the top five stolen titles of the year are… Fast Five (9,260,000 downloads) The Hangover II (8,840,000 downloads) Thor (8,330,000 downloads) Source Code (7,910,000 downloads) I Am Number Four (7,670,000 downloads) The first five films grossed over $100 million worldwide each and nearly $2 billion worldwide together. Head on over to TorrentFreak to see the complete list, which surprisingly includes one Oscar winner and one Oscar nominee. [via TorrentFreak ]

NBC’s Heroes and ABC’s Lost , two sci-fi dramas that ended their runs in 2010, are the TV shows with the most illegal downloads in 2010, according to TorrentFreak.com. Lost went off the air after wrapping up its sprawling, enigmatic storyline while Heroes was cancelled due to poor ratings. Ironically, Heroes, like the third most-pirated show, Showtime’s skin-filled crime drama Dexter , was downloaded by more people who watched it according to the Nielsen ratings . If NBC had been counting illegal downloads instead of legitimate TV viewers, Heroes may still be on the air. But the question of why so many people downloaded episodes of Heroes and Lost is easy to answer with one look at MrSkin.com. Heroes boasted some of the hottest babes of the 2000’s, like twice-nude Ali Larter and sexy but sadly skinless Kristen Bell and Hayden Panettiere . Lost had more island-stranded beauties than plot twists, including Evangeline Lilly , Maggie Grace , Yoon-jin Kim , Elizabeth Mitchell , Sonya Walger , and Bai Ling . But why bother with an illegal download when you can see every one of these actresses nude or sexy at MrSkin.com without risking prosecution by the FBI?

Now that the US government appears to be endorsing the idea of simply seizing domain names without notice( http://www.techdirt.com/articles/20101128/15302012021/who-needs-coica-when-homel… ) to the proprietors of those domains, it appears that others are doing the same as well. TorrentFreak reports that the Dutch anti-piracy group, BREIN, with help from the MPAA, has been able to get 29 different domain names — all hosted in the US — to point to BREIN's homepage instead( http://torrentfreak.com/mpaa-shuts-down-29-bittorrent-and-nzb-sites-101215/ ). The owners of those domains were apparently given no notice and no recourse. It sounds like most of the sites did not host any content but linked to potentially infringing content. Whether or not you believe that simply linking to potentially infringing content should be against the law, we're seeing yet another example of the simple lack of due process and how this may impact other areas. If BREIN can get US domains shut down, what's to stop other countries from doing the same thing? China doesn't like reporting by an American site about China? What's to stop it from trying to “seize” that domain? Even if we grant the idea that many of these domains were engaged in or encouraging unauthorized copying of works covered by copyright, why should BREIN and the MPAA simply get to shut them down without any sort of trial? http://torrentfreak.com/mpaa-shuts-down-29-bittorrent-and-nzb-sites-101215/ Update: TorrentFreak requested a list of the affected domains from BREIN and received this response from Tim Kuik. “No that would amount to free PR for the sites that intend to continue their unlawful activities at another hosting provider. These are not large sites and we want to keep it that way.” In response to a question about how the sites were taken offline: “The sites were taken down by the hosting provider,” said Kuik. http://www.techdirt.com/articles/20101215/11300412292/dutch-anti-piracy-group-wi… added by: toyotabedzrock
