I know that I complain a lot about supermodels who push the latest bras or underwear without actually putting the sexy stuff on, but this time I’m not all that upset because I absolutely love Alessandra Ambrosio and she can do pretty much whatever she wants. Except for bathroom stuff, I’m not into that kind of thing. Anyhow, here she is in Miami’s South Beach as part of Victoria’s Secret Bombshell Summer Tour . Where can I get tickets to this tour and do they allow alcohol?
‘I hope people leave the concert feeling like they know you better,’ she tells MTV News. By Jocelyn Vena, with reporting by Sway Calloway Taylor Swift Photo: MTV News It’s a big week for Taylor Swift . Not only did she premiere her “Story of Us” video Tuesday on MTV, but she also kicks off her Speak Now Tour on Friday in Omaha, Nebraska. When MTV News’ Sway sat down with the country/pop superstar following her video premiere, she let fans in on what to expect from the stadium show. “We get to have such groovy, cool stuff happening,” she said. “I’ve never had pyro before. I’ve never had aerialists before. It’s got this grand staircase. The stage in itself looks like an old-world theater. I can’t believe we get to play stadiums. I’m so excited about this tour. I want to live on that stage. I hope people leave the concert feeling like they know you better.” Swift looks at this tour as the ultimate “thank you” letter to her fans for the success Speak Now has had. “That’s why I’m so blown away. That’s why I can’t wait to go out on tour and thank them personally,” she said. Before the official tour kickoff, Swift gave some lucky fans a taste of the show during a charity event last Saturday in Nashville. She opened up her final Speak Now dress rehearsal to fans and gave the proceeds to tornado victims. “It was one of the coolest things. Honestly, we thought our first show was going to be a week later, [but] watching the news and seeing the damage, it was just really emotional for me and a lot of the dancers and crew,” she recalled. “So I felt like, if there was any way I could help out, why not sell tickets to that? And so it turned out it was something we could do. Putting on, pretty much, our first show and having it go so well [and making] over $750,000, it was so exciting.” Will you check out Taylor’s upcoming tour? Let us know in the comments! The New West frontrunner tells MTV News, ‘A lot of people they just know me based off of verses, features.’ By Alvin Blanco, with reporting by Sway Calloway and Rob Markman Tyga Photo: Rich Sancho/ MTV News As MTV News’ New West Week comes to a close, the question is which of the myriad of MC talents coming out of the L.A. hip-hop scene is most likely to enjoy mainstream success. While the acts we’ve covered — Kendrick Lamar, Pac Div and Nipsey Hussle, to name a few — all have solid chances, the artist with the track record and best tools in place to succeed is Young Money’s Tyga. The Compton rapper already has certified hits under his belt. Even before making his YMCMB affiliation official, Tyga scored a hit with “Coconut Juice” in 2008. Then he made sure he wasn’t forgotten among the Young Money pack by dropping guest verses on hits like “BedRock” and “Roger That.” But it was last year’s collaboration with his buddy Chris Brown on their joint Fan of a Fan mixtape that spawned Tyga’s biggest hit to date, the Grammy nominated “Deuces.” Now Tyga is prepping his forthcoming album, Careless World, which he told MTV News is about 75 percent done. “You’re going to see more of a story and more into Tyga’s world and what I represent, the story that I’m trying to tell,” Tyga explained about the album. “I feel like a lot of people they just know me based off of verses, features, heavy rap songs, mixtape stuff. Which is cool because I love to do that — this is rap music — but at the same time, I make a lot of real good music also. “I don’t think a lot of people are on to that yet,” Tyga added. “I just dropped a mixtape, Black Thoughts 2, that was I say, maybe 25, 35 percent of what my album is going to sound like.” In the meantime, before Careless World gets its release later this year, Tyga is taking his music to the people. Although he isn’t a part of the Weezy-headlined I Am Still Music Tour, he’s currently on Diddy-Dirty Money’s Coming Home Tour . Diddy thought enough of Tyga to bring him on his tour, and on Thursday MTV News spoke to Young Money president Mack Maine, who told us he’s excited about pushing the Cali MC’s project forward. “I’m definitely looking forward, his buzz is up, it’s ridiculous,” Mack said. “We’re about to drop this single soon, it’s called ‘Far Away,’ featuring Chris Richardson and from there it’s basically, we need to capitalize. He also has another song that I’m waiting for Nicki to do her verse on. We’ll try to drop that single. From there, let’s just see when the people are ready for his album. But he got a lot of songs done so we’re definitely trying to put him out before the end of the year.” When Careless World does drop it will surely have plenty of YMCMB participation but Tyga assures it won’t be a scattershot compilation. “I just like to make the music organic,” Tyga said. “If I feel like, ‘This person on this will be real dope,’ then I’mma reach out and get the feature. But it’s all about making great music. If there’s features on every track but it’s great music, I mean hey … either you love it or you don’t.” Stick with us all week as MTV News turns the spotlight on the New West, the next wave of hip-hop acts helping restore faith in the L.A. rap scene. From groups like Odd Future to rising MCs like Dom Kennedy, we’ll bring you up close and personal to these artists as they carve their own lanes in the post-gangsta rap era. Keep it locked here for the next week for more on the West Coast up-and-comers! Related Videos The New West: An In-Depth Look At L.A. Hip-Hop ‘RapFix Live’ With Tyga Related Artists Tyga
As we told you yesterday, some Canadian promoter set Game up to fail , by having him fly to Canada only to be detained for violating immigration laws. According to TMZ , the promoter may not have been as janky as we thought. Canadian immigrations on the other hand… A rep for Substance Entertainment Group — the promotion company behind Game’s tour in Canada — tells TMZ, the tour promoter got a call from Canadian Customs while Game was on the plane on his way to Canada. We’re told customs informed the promoter that Game would be denied entry “due to new information received that Game is affiliated with organized crime and is an active member of the Bloods street gang.” The rep claims Game was blindsided by the last-minute red flag — telling us, concert organizers had secured all permits and approval weeks ago to get Game into the country. “New information?” GTFOHWTBS. TMZ’s sources say Game’s been deported back to the States. But since he hasn’t gone back to Twitter yet, we’re gonna guess he’s still behind bars, on day two of that 14 day hold , eh?
Harlem MC ditches his street ways for a hip-hop hustle, in Mixtape Daily. By Rob Markman Smoke DZA Photo: Courtesy of Smoke DZA Fire Starter: Smoke DZA Harlem rapper Smoke DZA is experiencing an all-time high, thanks to the change in his hustle-heavy lifestyle. He’s currently on the road with Big K.R.I.T. on the Cinematic/ Def Jam rapper’s Return of 4eva Tour and has also recently released his third solo Internet album THC (The Hustler’s Catalog), but his future didn’t always look so bright. “I’m really talking about the game — the other side and past stuff that I’ve been through in the street,” DZA said of the subject matter on THC. “Just being able to talk about that right now and not talk about that [from jail] is a blessing, because it could have went a different way.” Smoke may have started out on the street hustling, but rap proved to be his true calling. He started his career as one-half of the local New York rap duo Smoke & Numbers in 2004, but split from the group, went solo and dropped Substance Abuse in 2009. DZA followed the next year with his follow-up project George Kush Da Button. It was George Kush that made Smoke a fan favorite and got him the exposure needed to take his show on the road. In 2010, DZA embarked on Curren$y’s Smoker’s Club Tour, a 40-city trek that also included artists such as Big K.R.I.T. and Dom Kennedy. ” George Kush was the beginning of what you are seeing now,” DZA said. Now, with THC, Smokey seems to have really hit his stride. The album, which is available as a free download on his website , features lyrical contributions from other notable rap rooks like Kendrick Lamar (“Uptown 81”) and Kid Daytona (“Cool Sh–“), as well as beats from Hit-Boy and the highly demanded Lex Luger (“Loaded”). Building a foundation was key, and now Smoke said he’s booked for shows throughout the year, including K.R.I.T.’s current Return of 4eva run and another tour with Curren$y next month. Still, DZA, who is independently signed to Cinematic Music Group, isn’t about to let his life on the road interfere with his recording process. The marijuana-influenced MC is looking to drop Substance Abuse 2 as a retail release in September and another untitled project at the end of the year. Things have been going so well for Smoke, he intends to remain independent for as long as he can. “I like the independent route right now because I get to keep all of my bread and don’t have to cut nobody in,” he said. “I would love to get under that [major label] machine someday when the situation is right, but right now, I feel like being independent is the best way for me.” For other artists featured in Mixtape Daily, check out Mixtape Daily Headlines . ‘For the past 10 years, I’ve had a really unhealthy relationship with food,’ Disney star confides in new ABC News interview. By Jocelyn Vena Demi Lovato Photo: John Shearer/WireImage Demi Lovato surprised everyone when she quit her tour with the Jonas Brothers last fall to seek treatment for ” emotional and physical issues .” She recently opened up about those personal issues, which back then caused much speculation about exactly what ailed her, in a new interview with ABC News . Lovato also confirmed that she will no longer be starring in her TV show, “Sonny With a Chance.” “I’ve spoken openly about being bullied throughout the past few years, but one thing that I’ve never been able to feel comfortable talking about was the effects that it had on my life afterwards,” she said. “I literally didn’t know why they were being so mean to me. And when I would ask them why, they would just say, ‘Well, you’re fat.’ “I developed an eating disorder, and that’s kind of what I’ve been dealing with ever since. I was compulsively overeating when I was 8 years old,” she continued. “So, I guess, for the past 10 years, I’ve had a really unhealthy relationship with food.” Her eating disorder also gave way to self-mutilation. In the interview, which airs on ” Good Morning America ” and “20/20” on Friday, the Disney star says she began cutting herself at age 11. “It was a way of expressing my own shame, of myself, on my own body,” she told Robin Roberts. “I was matching the inside to the outside. And there were some times where my emotions were just so built up, I didn’t know what to do. The only way that I could get instant gratification was through an immediate release on myself.” The emotional ups and downs came to a head last summer while on tour with the Jonas Brothers. “I was performing concerts on an empty stomach,” she said. “I was losing my voice from purging. I was self-medicating. I was not taking medication for depression, and I literally was so emotionally whacked out that I took it out on someone that meant a lot to me.” She is referring to an incident in which Lovato reportedly got into a physical altercation with one of the dancers on the tour. An intervention was staged following that incident, and she entered treatment. “I take 100 percent, full responsibility. I feel horrible. [She] was my friend,” she said. “They sat me down and said, ‘You can’t live like this.’ ” She recalled that once she entered the facility, “For the first time in my life, I started to feel.” Her sister and her fans acted as her strength as she dealt with the issues she had kept quiet for a decade. “A picture of my little sister [Madison], on my little bulletin board, was one of the main things that kept me going,” she said. “I just kept thinking, ‘OK, set this example for your little sister,’ ” she explained. “The real reason why I’m sitting down with you is to open up the eyes of so many young girls, that it doesn’t have to be this way.” The same day the preview for the ABC News interview hit the Web, it was announced that Lovato would be leaving her Disney show, “Sonny With a Chance.” “It made sense for me to go ahead and leave the show to focus on my music,” Lovato told People.com . “It’s kind of sad for me that a chapter of my life has ended, but there couldn’t be a better time for me to move on.” “I don’t think going back to ‘Sonny’ would be healthy for my recovery,” she added. “Being in front of a camera would make me nervous.” A rep for the show confirms her decision and the network is supporting Lovato’s future endeavors, which include recording for Disney’s record label. “We respect Demi’s decision to focus full-time on her music and not immediately return to her acting career,” a rep explained. “She is a talented young woman and our hearts are with her as she continues to take action to improve her health and bounce back from adversity.” Related Photos The Evolution Of: Demi Lovato Related Artists Demi Lovato
Paul Teutul Jr. tells MTV News he’s puzzled by Gaga’s motorcycle makeover. By James Montgomery Lady Gaga Photo: Noel Vasquez/ Getty Images When Lady Gaga unveiled the cover art for her much-anticipated Born This Way album over the weekend, even the most manic of Little Monsters seemed perplexed by her brand-new motorcycle makeover … with some even going so far as to speculate that the cover was fake . And if you think Gaga’s fans are confused by the BTW cover, well, then you should hear Paul Teutul Jr.’s take on it. After all, he designs motorcycles for a living, first under his dad’s tutelage at Orange County Choppers — made famous on Discovery Channel’s “American Choppers” — and now with his own shop, Paul Jr. Designs . Turns out Junior’s sort of at a loss when it comes to Gaga’s new look. “This chopper is very, kind of, uh, interesting. They kind of melted the motor around and stuff so it’s hard to even see what they have … they almost did a ribcage, kinda see-through in the tank. But none of it feels really smooth,” he told MTV News. “The bike that it emulates the most is that ‘Easy Rider’ bike … it has that king and queen seat, it’s got the old-school exhaust, but I can’t really tell what kind of bike it is.” Of course, aside from the assumed technical issues, Teutul Jr. said that he’s most puzzled that the Born This Way album cover didn’t go even further. Because, as he put it, what could be cooler than a full-fledged Gaga-cycle? “Looking at it, I would’ve made it more of an integration of her into the bike. It would be more seamless. In other words, it would be her and the bike morphed,” he said. “If you’re Born This Way, then it almost has to look kind of mermaid-ish, in the sense that there’s this fusion between the actual mechanical aspect and the human perspective. … It’s a little cut-and-paste looking. I would’ve done something even integrated throughout the bike that would’ve been more ‘Lady Gaga.’ “How awesome would it have been if her entire body, like, her feet actually became the axle rod for the rear tire, and her body actually formed the entire bike? I mean, it could’ve been a more flowing, freakier look,” he continued. “And that’s what we do at Paul Jr. Designs. Our full integration isn’t ‘put a sticker on it.’ Our full integration is we make that bike what the theme is intended to be. It’s about pulling off the theme front-to-back.” And to that end, Teutul Jr. said that he’d love to work with Gaga on an actual motorcycle — it’d probably make for an interesting episode of his show, “American Chopper: Senior vs. Junior,” which returns April 25 — because it would give him and his team a chance to do what they do best. “I would get inside her head on the whole project, and really be able to pull off what it is, creatively, that she would want integrated into the bike,” he said. “And for this tour, she could come out onstage and it could be a whole theatrical thing that ties around the actual album cover. I think it would be a great fit and we’re both young and creative. It would be a great collaboration for sure.” What do you think of the Born This Way cover art? Tell us in the comments! He’s angered CBS employees, sitcom fans and women’s rights group. But Charlie Sheen is now facing the wrath of an unexpected enemy: The 9/11 Truth Movement. A representative of that group – which alleges the World Trade Center attacks were initiated by the The United States – says he and his fellow conspiracy theorists are peeved that the actor is using his tour to prattle on about drug use, Denise Richards and other items that aren’t related to Sheen’s former claims about the buildings’ collapse appearing to be a “controlled demolition.” Mark Dice says Sheen should be “asking hard questions about what happened on 9/11 and the resulting wars… not bragging about smoking crack and sleeping with hookers.” Dice has failed in his attempts to contact the star and adds that he and his group will protest Sheen’s upcoming shows if the topic is not addressed. So congratulations Mark Dice and The 9/11 Truth Movement. You’ve managed to make Charlie Sheen look sane.
