‘I remember having a Kid Capri tape from ’88; I still have the cassette tape,’ Atlanta DJ tells Mixtape Daily. By Alvin Blanco, with reporting by Rahman Dukes DJ Trauma Photo: MTV News DJ Trauma is taking his skills to a bigger stage. After spinning at Atlanta’s Hot 107.9 for 10 years, Trauma recently left the station to focus on being the tour DJ for Ciara and Sean “The Pen” Garrett, as well as his own Carte Blanche team. Trauma has long been a key member of the ATL DJ/mixtape scene thanks to his role as a co-founder of the Superfriends DJ clique, his work on radio and as a staple on the club scene, holding down parties for Diddy, Jamie Foxx and Jay-Z, among others. Although Trauma has plenty of hip-hop ties, he believes his breakthrough mixtape was last year’s #ialmostmadeamixtape, which had him teaming up with British R&B crooner Estelle. “I really wanted to start focusing on the music that I love to hear and I want to help the world hear,” Trauma told Mixtape Daily. “I want to create mixtapes that are not disposable. That’s part of what’s wrong with the mixtape game now, ’cause I remember having a Kid Capri tape from ’88, I still have the cassette tape. People still download the links. I want to create tapes like that, that no matter what, it’s classic. A Trap or Die [mixtape] is classic. That’s the type of mixtape I want to create. Even if it’s an Estelle, which is kind of like pop music or soul, a lot of her records are real soulful and real good music. I want to do stuff like that.” While Trauma’s output also includes a tape with neo-soul singer (and Barack Obama playlist entry) Anthony David, his latest is an EP with former “American Idol” contestant Anoop Desai. Titled Zero.0, Trauma eventually assembled all of the producers and songwriters for the project, earning himself a co-executive producer credit. “What ended up happening is it turned into a real album,” Trauma said of Zero.0, the first of planned trilogy. “It’s called Zero because everything starts and ends from zero. … [Anoop] used to sing in an acapella group. You get his soul and R&B influences on the tape but then you also end off with his single, ‘OoWee,’ which is like a straight dance/pop song.” Billboard hosted the free mixtape upon its initial release and on April 20 a high-quality version will be available for purchase on iTunes. Next, Trauma plan to drop another mixtape, The Sex Tape Chronicles 2, with Verse Simmonds, as well as his own I Am the Party project, inspired by music that gets people jamming no matter what part of the world they’re in. DJ Aero and Porter Robinson tell MTV News how Project Blue Book became one of dance music’s hottest tickets. By Adam Stewart Porter Robinson, DJ Aero and Tommy Lee When we talk about Project Blue Book , we’re not talking about the alleged top-secret government program said to be covering up things like Area 51 and little green men in Roswell, New Mexico. We’re talking about the hot music collective that’s been turning heads and making waves since their tour first launched back in February. But for Skrillex, Tommy Lee, DJ Aero, and up-and-coming beat-whiz Porter Robinson, the extraterrestrial connotation is apt too. The show these guys put on is totally out of this world. “It came together because we really needed a tour name to make this all work,” DJ Aero explained to MTV News. “We were going back and forth with [Skrillex] coming up with crazy names, and then he sent us an email with the history behind [the government’s Project Blue Book], and we were like, ‘Yeah, that sounds like us!’ ” “We were going to call it Meowington’s Tour!” Aero joked, referring to their pal deadmau5’s (a.k.a Joel Zimmerman) cat. “But we couldn’t put it together legally. [Joel] just wouldn’t give up the name.” “That would also be kind of tragic in light of recent events,” Porter added, making a jab about the injury deadmau5’s now-famous cat recently sustained. All kidding aside, though, as anyone who’s heard their music or been to their shows can attest, the group’s name fits their game. The Project Blue Book Tour has become nothing short of an invasion. After a successful U.S. trek during the winter months, the guys hit this year’s Miami Music Week with some spanking-new material. “We have five different tracks we’ve been playing out, especially for this Ultra Music Week,” Aero told us last month in Miami. “There’s a track named ‘Static’ and a track named ‘LFO Tool’ that we’ve been playing out every night.” Yes, you read that correctly, Tommy Lee and DJ Aero named a track after the audio plug-in tool developed by music mastermind (and longtime deadmau5 and Tommy Lee producer) Steve Duda. “I’ve been playing out two dubstep songs, one is called ‘The State,’ which is some libertarian bitchiness from me, and the other is called ‘Spit Fire.’ They’re just very high-energy, super aggressive dubstep songs,” Porter explained. “I’m also working this weird 100-beats-per-minute banger, which is very unusual. I don’t know many songs that are 100 beats per minute,” he continued. “It’s like slightly faster drumstep, and like slightly slower Justice music. It’s unique.” The trio of Tommy Lee, Porter and Aero, joined by Skrillex (with his infectious sound and obsessive following), have morphed into the one of the “it” acts to catch in 2011. But to paraphrase the old saying, behind all great men, is a great woman. In this case it’s Sofi Toufa , who tours and performs with the gang and has been making waves with her new Moguai collaboration on “Beat of the Drum.” So what’s it like for a girl in possession of one of the hottest voices in dance music to be on tour with all the boys? “Oh, ya know, it’s a little sweaty and smelly and stuff! No, it’s awesome. It’s fun, they’re awesome dudes!” Sofi gushed to MTV News about her Project Blue Book crew. “All these guys shower, which is awesome, so I’m really really happy about that!” “I’ve gotten told on more than one occasion that I smell good from Sofi,” Aero chimed in. “So I feel pretty good about it!” “I’ve gotten that too!” Porter added with a laugh. “It’s very practical; we hired her to get us cocky before our sets!” Unfortunately for Porter, he’ll have to find another morale booster as he says goodbye to Sofi, Tommy and Aero and hits the road with Skrillex and Zedd for the month long, 25-city OWSLA Tour, kicking off June 17 in Las Vegas. Charlie Sheen kicked off his tour in Detroit tonight, and, the actor got violently torpedoed with boos from a crowd that left before the deranged act was finished. The show started approximately 20 minutes late, as a random comedian came out and told jokes that made Two and a Half Men seem funny. A sample: “Shouldn’t they call the defibrillator a difibra-now?” Movie clips then played around 9 p.m., two goddesses made out on stage and Sheen finally appeared. He stood behind a podium and said to the crowd: “I am finally here to identify and train the Vatican assassin locked inside each and every one of you.” That was pretty much the highlight of the evening. Witnesses at the event said Sheen rambled on incoherently, at one point saying: “They took my awesome children… They took my sometimes bitchin job… And when they thought there was nothing left, they tried to take my titanium heart and brain and spine. But they could not.” The audience grew restless, boos began to reign down and that’s when the actor took to mocking those in attendance. “I figured Detroit was a good place to tell some crack stories,” he said. “I don’t do crack anymore, but this is a good f-cking night to do some crack.” Many more boos ensued. Reports confirm people began to walk out around this time, to which Sheen taunted: “You paid your hard-earned money without knowing what this show was about.” Around 10:20, the track Sheen recorded with Snoop Dogg was played. But Sheen had already left the stage and the rapper was nowhere in sight. Said one fan to Entertainment Weekly , after traveling from Toronto for the show: “He’s making a fool of himself. Is there a bigger loser in the world? He’ll be [begging] Chuck Lorre for his job back by the end of the week.”

Spears tells ‘Good Morning America’ the tour will start in June. In between songs at her pretaped San Francisco show on “Good Morning America,” the singer made the huge announcement. Hanging out backstage with her dancers, wearing a billowing white shirt and jeans, she told the show’s host, Robin Roberts, “I’m going on tour with Enrique Iglesias in June.” Fans gathered at the Bill Graham Civic Auditorium to watch Spears shimmy her way through Femme Fatale tracks “Hold It Against Me,” “Big Fat Bass” and her latest single, “Till the World Ends,” in varying body-hugging sexy costumes. “Thank you so much for all your love and support. You guys are beautiful,” she told the audience. “I love it. I love music. It’s my world. It’s my everything.” Before Britney even hit the stage in San Francisco, the room was kept entertained by five local drag queens , who explained to MTV News after Spears left the building that the performer really proved that she is still the pop star everyone knows and loves. “As a huge Britney fan, it was amazing,” Pollo Del Mar told us. “I was excited just to have Britney Spears here in San Francisco, but to participate and be a part of it was amazing. “It shows why she’s a superstar and certainly, I think that the crowd response showed that she’s beloved. … The reason I love Britney Spears is, throughout her career, she’s shown she’s human, she’s fallible … I think that makes her someone people can rally behind and love.” Spears’ Femme Fatale album drops today. It wasn’t quite the shinding we expected to hear about , but Aretha Franklin definitely rang in the last year of her 60′s in style in NYC this weekend. First, on Friday she threw the livest party ever thrown for a soon-to-be-septuagenarian at the Hemsley Park Lane. Aretha did it up with Star Jones, Permed Up Al, Smokey Robinson, Tony Bennett, Gayle King, Bette Midler and others. Then, yesterday she had a cozy dinner with her longtime homie Clive Davis at Le Bernardin. The 18-time Grammy winner had to cancel her tour when she was hospitalized in December and underwent surgery, but spies said she was in great form over dinner with Davis Thursday night. Our spy said: “They were toasting her health and her birthday. Word spread, and a crowd gathered outside. When the two emerged, there were flashbulbs and loud cheers.” Good for Auntie! Well well well… it turns out that Tiger wasn’t doing anything different than the other good ol’ boys in golf. John Daly’s ex-wife Sherrie Daly is dropping all kinds of bombs in her new book, and it looks like cheap tricks abound on the PGA tour. Sherrie Daly, the fourth wife of former pro golfer John Daly, claims her unfaithful husband’s antics would make Tiger Woods look like a saint. In her memoir, “Teed Off: My Life as a Player’s Wife on the PGA Tour,” Sherrie exposes the tour’s temptations including the “Secret of the Sixteenth Hole” — a woman she claims offered sexual favors at Southwind golf course in Memphis, Tenn. The Dalys were married for nine years until 2010. But the golfer had a history of alcohol abuse, gambling problems and infidelity. “Little did I know that being a golf wife would mean fighting off strippers who think it’s OK to be out on the golf course without any clothes on,” Sherrie writes. In the book, she says of Southwind: “I’d been told by many men in Memphis, including my banker, that there was a girl who’d give golfers [oral sex] when they got to the sixteenth hole . . . Apparently, all they had to do was pay $300 when they got there, and she’d take them into the bushes.” But she got fed up when Hooters sponsored her husband’s tour, showed up at a Tampa course and set up a tent on the seventeenth hole. She writes, “There were all these Hooters girls with their t – – – – – s flopping around everywhere, holding up these signs and screaming for John. It was just nasty.” After finding John in bed with another woman and finding X-rated pictures of her, “I went through every phone number [the woman] had in it, whether it was her boss . . . or her parents. And I sent them the picture of her coochie with a note that went something like this: ‘This is the vagina of the woman I just found in bed with my husband.’ “ Sherrie herself had her share of troubles –John accused her of attacking him with a steak knife in 2007, and she was locked up for five months on a money-laundering charge. This Sherrie chick is real gangster… money laundering, stabbings and email blasting naked pics of the skanky hoes her husband cheated with. We like her!
