Bret Michaels To Appear On ‘American Idol’ Tonight: Report

TMZ cites ‘spies’ as saying rocker will appear on ‘Idol’ finale. By MTV News staff Bret Michaels Photo: Tim Mosenfelder/ Getty Images Bret Michaels will appear on the “American Idol” finale tonight, TMZ reported on Wednesday evening (May 26). The site cited its ” ‘Idol’ spies” as saying the singer will make a “cameo” during the show, although at press time it was unclear whether he might perform. Last month, Michaels was hospitalized for a serious brain hemorrhage and was rushed to the hospital again last week due to a “warning stroke.” Despite his serious medical condition, Michaels has bounced back with vigor, making many television appearances in recent weeks — including a victory on the “Celebrity Apprentice” — and insisting that he’ll resume his tour with an appearance in Mississippi on Friday night. “I am not at 100 percent yet, but I have every intention of trying to continue the tour starting Friday in Biloxi,” he wrote in a message posted on his official website earlier this week. “I hope to see your rockin rollin, smiling faces on the road — that is the best medicine I can think of right now. You rock my world.” Michaels is set to perform at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Biloxi, Mississippi, followed by another 39 shows from New Jersey to Washington. The tour is not expected to finish up until early October in San Antonio. But hitting the road so soon after his multiple health problems seems to carry its fair share of dangers. Michaels admitted that his doctor warned him about the risks of even appearing on the “Apprentice” finale, saying, “Yes it’s been a risk, but I wanted to be here. I came to win and I’m glad to be on the show.” Following the subarachnoid brain hemorrhage he suffered last month, Michaels landed back in the hospital last week with a so-called warning stroke. Doctors also discovered the singer has a hole in his heart and have scheduled him for surgery to correct the issue in the fall. Yet Michaels clearly remains upbeat and committed to returning to his strenuous touring life. “With all of my heart, soul and the remaining organs I have left (lol) I would like to thank each and every one of you for all of your support and awesomeness,” Michaels wrote in his message. “All the good vibes and well wishes gave me the strength to go back to New York and win ‘Celebrity Apprentice.’ ” Related Photos Bret Michaels’ Career In Photos Related Artists Bret Michaels

Lindsay Lohan’s SCRAM Bracelet: How Does It Work?

Lohan’s alcohol-monitoring bracelet collects data regarding the wearer’s alcohol consumption by measuring perspiration. By Josh Wigler SCRAM Bracelet Photo: Alcohol Monitoring Systems Lindsay Lohan appeared in court Monday (May 24) seeking to ease restrictions on the terms of her probation stemming from two drug- and alcohol-related arrests in 2007. To Lohan’s disappointment, Judge Marsha Revel ordered the 24-year-old actress to wear an alcohol-monitoring bracelet that will require her to undergo mandatory drug testing in Los Angeles on a weekly basis. Lohan must attach the bracelet to her ankle within the next 24 hours. The device is called a SCRAM bracelet, and it’s hardly an unfamiliar fashion accessory for Lohan, who volunteered to wear the bracelet as part of an outpatient care program following her DUI arrest in 2007. The SCRAM bracelet, short for Secure Continuous Remote Alcohol Monitor, is a lightweight ankle bracelet designed to keep track of the wearer’s alcohol consumption through measuring his or her perspiration. After data regarding the wearer’s blood alcohol content is collected, the bracelet sends the information to the manufacturer, Alcohol Monitoring Systems. The SCRAM bracelet is virtually tamper-proof, thanks to “an internal mechanism that if you do tamper with it, it’ll notify the remote location immediately,” attorney Mark Geragos told MTV News. As a result, SCRAM wearers are cautioned not to submerge the device in water, as the bracelet would no longer be able to record perspiration, which would be flagged by remote monitors as “an attempt to defeat” the bracelet. Said Geragos: “You’ve got to take some precautions when you shower.” Another inconvenience presented by the SCRAM bracelet involves air travel, as the official website for Alcohol Monitoring Systems notes that the device’s presence would likely require special attention and swab testing from airport security officials. Given Lohan’s weekly Los Angeles testing, however, air travel isn’t likely to propose too much of an inconvenience if she wishes to remain free on bail. Additionally, SCRAM wearers are instructed against ingesting alcohol of any kind — that means not just beverages, but also mouthwash, colognes and perfumes, certain types of lotion and other similar products containing alcohol. Of course, there’s the visually distracting nature of the device to consider as well. “Depending on whether or not you think it’s a fashion statement, you’ll generally wear pants while wearing [the bracelet],” Geragos told MTV News. With summer rapidly approaching, Lohan, a California resident, faces a physically uncomfortable time to wear pants on a daily basis. Lohan has 24 hours to start using the SCRAM bracelet. She’ll have to actually wear the device for significantly longer than that, however, as her next probation hearing is scheduled for July 6. Drake Reps H-Town ‘Till The Day I Die’ On Away From Home Tour

The Toronto MC brings out Houston rap luminaries Bun B, Lil Keke, Trae Tha Truth and others. By Cynithia Allen Drake (file) Photo: Kevin Winter/ Getty Images Drake did the Texas two-step this week, bringing his Away From Home Tour to Dallas on Wednesday, and the next day, to Houston, where he closed out his initial run of U.S. dates. The 23-year-old Toronto MC’s show was highly anticipated in H-Town, a city Drake gave props to on “November 18th,” off the Chopped N Screwed version of his So Far Gone mixtape. He opened Thursday night’s show at Houston’s Verizon Wireless Theater with his club banger “Over,” whipping the crowd into a frenzy. Drizzy told his fans that “only three things matter at this time: Number one, I’m Drizzy Drake. Two, I’m part of the hottest team in the game right now — Young Money/ Cash Money. Finally, I rep H-Town till the day I die.” The Grammy-nominated artist showed his respect for the City of Syrup with a performance of the aforementioned “November 18th,” which true Houstonians know was inspired by the Screwed Up Clique’s late-90s posse cut “June 18.” One of the Clique’s original members, Lil Keke, was on hand to deliver his verse from the ensemble track. And the Houston rap scene was amply represented at the concert: In addition to Keke, Drake brought out Houston luminaries Z-Ro, Trae Tha Truth and the Underground King himself, the timeless Bun B. Cash Money’s Birdman, who has made appearances on several dates of the tour, came through for “Money to Blow,” and then performed the Big Tymers hit “Still Fly.” The theater seemed to shake to the rafters as the excited crowd began reciting lyrics — “Gator boots with the pimped-out Gucci shoes.” The stage was then turned over to Young Money members Gudda Gudda and Lil Twist, who came out to assist on “Bed Rock.” The show continued with the lovemaking theme on “A Night Off,” which saw Drake bring out a microphone whose stand was covered in female undergarments. The ladies went berserk, throwing bras and panties at the dynamic MC, a practice that has become a ritual at every Away From Home show. In an interview Drake gave to CNN , he said he was attempting to make it into the Guinness Book of World Records for the most bras thrown at a performer during a single show. When Drake chose a 27-year-old Houston fan to join him onstage, he warned her that anything could happen, including licking, sucking or kissing. No one seemed to be left disappointed at this show. And while he may not have been given the key to the City of Syrup, Drake proved he already has the town on lock. Are you planning to see Drake in Concert now that he’s added more dates to his tour?
