The former late-night funnyman will go on a 30-city, two-month-long tour along with a few friendly faces. Titled the “Legally Prohibited from Being Funny on Television” tour, a jab at the fact that he can’t appear on television until September in accordance with his exit contract with NBC, he will be joined by Andy Richter and his former late-night band. According to the Hollywood Reporter , O’Brien said of the decision to tour, “It was either a massive 30-city tour or start helping out around the house.” News of the tour first spread after a report popped up on TMZ last week. The tour kicks off April 12 in Eugene, Oregon, and O’Brien will play theaters in at least 20 states and two Canadian provinces. American Express is sponsoring the trek, and organizers say, “It promises to be a night of music, comedy, hugging and the occasional awkward silence.” O’Brien also took to Twitter to talk about the tour. “Hey Internet: I’m headed to your town on a half-assed comedy & music tour. Go to http://TeamCoco.com for tix. I repeat: It’s half-assed. Alert! Teamcoco.com is jammed with too much traffic. If you can’t get on, go to http://ticketmaster.com to buy your tickets. Beastie Boys’ Adam Yauch Wants To Drop Hot Sauce This Fall

MCA is on the mend after cancer treatment, but the group may ‘reevaluate’ new album. By Gil Kaufman Beastie Boys’ Adam Yauch Photo: Mark Von Holden/ Getty Images After being diagnosed with cancer of the salivary gland last summer, the Beastie Boys’ Adam Yauch is on the mend and thinking about music again. The MC, who underwent surgery and treatment in the fall, told Entertainment Weekly that he’s ready to get back to work. “I feel better,” Yauch said on Friday at the Independent Spirit Awards in Los Angeles. “It was touch and go there for a while, but I am finally getting my energy back.” Yauch announced on July 20 that the discovery of the cancer would necessitate the canceling of all of the Beasties’ planned summer-festival appearances and push back their new album, Hot Sauce Committee, Part One, while he underwent treatment. According to a band spokesperson, because the cancer was discovered early and localized in an area that does not affect Yauch’s vocal cords, it is believed the surgery was successful. While a the album, originally due out last September, is not yet officially rescheduled, Yauch said he expects it to drop this September. “It was really disappointing to have to hold the record and postpone the tour, but doctor’s orders,” he told EW. “We may or may not [release the album], depending on how my health is come September. We want to but we have to play it by ear.” Either way, the B-Boys are planning on taking another listen to the tracks they had prepped to see if some tweaking is in order. “I was just talking to Adam [Horovitz] and Mike [D] today on the phone and we were talking about working on it a bit,” Yauch said. “We finished the record over a year ago, so we want to take a look at it and reevaluate and make sure it is what we want to put out there and that we are still happy with it. I don’t think we will change it up too much.” A spokesperson for the group could not be reached at press time to confirm a new release date. Related Artists Beastie Boys

A World Without Toilets: Vanguard Update from India

I’m currently working on a story about toilets, or the lack thereof, in much of the world. Our journey starts here in India, which has the largest toiletless population on the planet. It was another eye-opening day here. We spent the day inside one of Delhi’s 1,500 or so “clusters,” or slums. While the toiletless population expands far beyond slum dwellers, it’s in here where the problem is at its worst. In this particular slum, there’s one toilet block for 5000 people — many of whom cannot afford the 1 rupee-per-use cost. One of the slum’s organizers introduced us to many of the residents here, who spoke to us about the many problems afflicting the population here — lack of toilets — lack of any sort of sanitation. People here are living within feet of open sewers — literally a shit-filled toilet within feet of where they eat and sleep each night. As we continued on, the picture just got worse and worse. More to come in our doc. (See more photos from my tour of the toilet museum here and from the Holi celebration here.) Follow me on Twitter, or the full Vanguard team, to get updates from the field as we shoot. added by: Adam_Yamaguchi

Paramore’s Hayley Williams Talks Josh Farro’s Wedding Plans

‘It’ll be kind of surreal and awesome to see one of my friends take that step,’ she says. By James Montgomery, with additional reporting by Anya Zadrozny Paramore Photo: Lester Cohen/ Getty Images Back in early February, Paramore guitarist Josh Farro surprised fans — and broke more than a few hearts — when he announced he was engaged and that he would be sitting out the band’s tour of the Pacific Rim to concentrate on all the things recently betrothed men tend to do in situations like this (read: meet with wedding planners, pretend to be interested in chair covers and table linens, etc.). In Farro’s absence, the band recruited guitarist Taylor York’s brother, Justin, and have pressed on with the tour. But they’re still missing their musical mate — and they sort of wish they could be back at home with him while he plans for his big day. “He’s the first person to get married out of the band, obviously, and out of a lot of our friends, so not only is it a big deal, I don’t think he wanted to leave and be trying to deal with it when he’s never had an experience with that sort of thing,” Paramore frontwoman Hayley Williams told MTV Radio earlier this week. “He’s doing all the planning and all the work [involved] with it. … We’re all really psyched for him.” Paramore will return to the U.S. next week, and they’ll kick off a spring tour April 26. One would assume Farro would be back in the fold at that point (an e-mail sent to the band’s label — Atlantic/ Fueled By Ramen — for clarification was not responded to by press time), because it sounds very much like he’s going to be getting married in the time between tours. “We’re going to go home and, I think, five days after we get home from a little promo run in Europe, we’re all going to go to the wedding,” Williams said. “I’ve only had one best friend ever get married, and I was actually a bridesmaid, which is sort of bittersweet, I guess. But this should be really, really fun, because Josh has been one of my best friends since I was 12 or 13, and it’ll be kind of surreal and awesome to see one of my friends take that step. We can’t wait.” Related Artists Paramore

Kelly Clarkson Added To Lilith Fair Lineup

‘American Idol’ alum will join Ke$ha, Tegan and Sara, festival founder Sarah McLachlan and more. By Jocelyn Vena Kelly Clarkson Photo: RCA Kelly Clarkson will soon take her pop anthems on the road as the latest artist to join the Lilith Fair. It was announced on Thursday (March 4) that Clarkson, The Bangles, The Go-Go’s, Dixie Chicks’ Emily Robison and Martie Maguire’s side project the Courtyard Hounds, Martina McBride and Suzanne Vega will be the latest ladies hitting the road for the female-focused festival. They join previously announced acts like festival founder Sarah McLachlan as well as Ke$ha, Colbie Caillat, Tegan and Sara, Corinne Bailey Rae, Erykah Badu, Emmylou Harris, Metric, Jill Scott, La Roux and Loretta Lynn, to name a few. Although the name Lilith Fair conjures up visions of folk singers, pop star Ke$ha said that she’s bringing her own glittery vibe to the mix with raucous pop anthems like “Tik Tok” and “Blah Blah Blah.” “I think it’s cool,” Ke$ha told MTV News about being included on the tour. “I definitely will bring the glitter and I think I can also bring a youthful fun, like a strong woman but in just a kind of a fun way, to Lilith.” So what does she think made her the perfect candidate for the tour? Her girl power, obviously. “I think I’m on Lilith because it’s famous for standing for women and strong women and I’m really excited and honored to be in that group and classified as a strong female woman,” she explained. “I’m really excited to be included in that its kind of a big deal. It’s scary now that we’re talking about it.” No dates have been announced yet, but the following cities have been announced as stops on the tour: Atlanta, Austin, Birmingham, Boston, Calgary, Charlotte, Chicago, Dallas, Denver, Detroit, Edmonton, Hartford, Houston, Indianapolis, London, Los Angeles, Minneapolis, Montreal, Nashville, New York, Philadelphia, Phoenix, Portland, Raleigh, Salt Lake City, San Diego, San Francisco, Seattle, St. Louis, Tampa, Toronto, Vancouver, Washington, D.C. and West Palm Beach, Florida. Lil Wayne To Be Sentenced, Begin Jail Term Today

After a postponement for dental surgery, the Cash Money MC is expected to turn himself in. By Jayson Rodriguez Lil Wayne Photo: Frank Micelotta/ Getty Images This is it. Barring any colossally unforeseen circumstances (or eight more root canals ), Lil Wayne will be formally sentenced and finally turn himself in to begin his one-year prison sentence in New York on Tuesday (March 2). The sentencing was scheduled for last month , but Wayne’s attorney requested a delay due to dental surgery the rapper required. Judge Charles H. Solomon agreed to the last-minute request and rescheduled the proceedings for March 2. The New Orleans MC has had more time than he requested to recover from a reported eight root canals in one day. “I don’t want this to get pushed back anymore,” Judge Solomon told the rapper’s lawyer during his last appearance. “This is the last adjournment.” Wayne is set to appear before Solomon on Tuesday afternoon and plead guilty to attempted gun possession. He’s then expected to turn himself in immediately to begin his prison term. The rapper reached a deal with prosecutors in November to plead out to a lesser deal and in return he is expected to be released from prison as early as October of this year. In 2007, Lil Wayne was arrested for gun possession following his first headlining performance in Manhattan at the Beacon Theater. A gun-possession charge in New York could have landed the Cash Money superstar behind bars for up to 15 years if he was convicted. New York is among the toughest states in the country when it comes to gun-possession laws. In other states, Lil Wayne could have reasonably gotten off with a misdemeanor rap and probation. However, in New York, mostly law-enforcement officials and those affiliated with authorities are permitted to carry firearms. The Empire State’s stringent gun laws were originally enacted during former governor George Pataki’s administration. Ultimately, what Lil Wayne pleaded guilty to amounts to him being able to have access to a gun. Police did not find a weapon on the rapper when his tour bus was searched. Rather, the gun — registered to his manager — was in a bag located near the rapper, hence the attempted charge. Lil Wayne has been working feverishly in recent weeks to complete a number of videos and songs to stay relevant during his physical absence. That pace he’s gotten accustomed to, however, will come to a screeching halt , according to a New York corrections officer who spoke to MTV News. Once the rapper lands behind bars, his days will be as regimented as his recording schedule — but will be maintained by the prison warden, not Lil Wayne. “He’ll be housed with inmates who are classified in his category, and he’ll be able to be a regular inmate,” the guard said. “He’ll be able to watch television, go into the day room and congregate with people of his classification. “He’ll have no preferable treatment at all. He’ll be treated like a regular inmate,” the guard, who declined to be identified due to the classified information he discussed, added. Lil Wayne is also still facing charges in Arizona , and his trial is set to begin there March 30. Related Videos Lil Wayne’s ‘Road To Rikers’ Lil Wayne Goes To Jail

By Shaheem Reid Lil Wayne Photo: MTV News Nino Brown: The Road to Rikers, Part 3 In the latest video he’s sent to MTV News, Lil Wayne (a.k.a. @liltunechi) gave fans a little bit more insight to his work schedule over last weekend. With the clock ticking before he’s expected to begin his jail sentence on weapons charges Tuesday, Weezy filmed seven videos in one night — on the heels of shooting between nine and 10 videos in two days last month. In his latest video clip, Wayne says he shot footage for videos by Young Money artist Shanell (whom he recently denied rumors that having a child with , Diddy, Travis McCoy from Gym Class Heroes, Rick Ross — and of course we already know about the videos he shot for Drake and for himself. “Show these artists how to do it,” Wayne says on his tour bus in a clip shot by DJ Scoob Doo and sent to MTV News on Monday afternoon (March 1). “Seven videos in one night. Follow me, artists!” In the Drake video, “Afrika Boombata,” Weezy wears a Marilyn Monroe T-shirt. He had vaccilated between wearing that or one of his @liltunechi tees. We also know that the McCoy video is called “Tattoo Girl,” and the video for Diddy-Dirty Money is titled “Strobe Lights.” A early version of the Dirty Money song leaked weeks ago and features everyone performing over a techno-type beat. “When the ceiling hits the floor, I’m gonna find my way to the door,” Diddy sings on the leaked version of the record. Later, Weezy raps, “The strobe lights are dancing/ We’ve taken all the chances.” “I’mma show y’all the [work] ethic of a true artist,” Wayne said in one of the clips he sent to MTV News over the weekend. “You know what I’m talkin’ about? Seven videos. I shot 10 in two days before. Now we about to do seven in one night!” MTV News will have more videos from Wayne — check back for the latest!
