For Discussion: Nas Suggests That Mixed Women Might Be Crazy…Is He On To Something?

Are Mixed Women Crazy? If you copped that Nas Life Is Good today (as you should!) you may have noticed a bonus cut “Roses” that REALLY goes in on Kelis. While the track is good, one lyric caught everyone’s attention: If she mixed a possible psycho alert goes off.” We found this pretty interesting and it’s led to interesting debate. Are mixed or light-skinned girls inherently more difficult to deal with? Are they cray cray even? Definitely sound off! And take a look at these mixed and light-skinned ladies for inspiration.

Jessie J Sued For Copyright Infringement Over ‘Domino’

Loomis & the Lust think her track sounds a lot like their ‘Bright Red Chords.’ By Jocelyn Vena Jessie J Photo: Jessie J is being sued by California’s Loomis & the Lust , who claim that her track “Domino” sounds a lot like their song “Bright Red Chords.” The band’s lead singer, Will Loomis, alleges that Jessie J’s biggest Stateside hit has a few striking similarities to portions of the band’s own 2008 track. He is suing not only Jessie, but also Universal Music Group, Lava Records and Universal Republic Records. “Mr. Loomis never consented to the use of his song,” lawyer Chris Arledge wrote in a statement to Billboard. “And we look forward to obtaining an appropriate remedy from the court for this clear infringement.” In April, Loomis uploaded a video of the band’s song with Jessie’s vocals laid on it, but the clip has since been removed on “copyright grounds.” However, a music video for “Bright Red Chords” remains online, allowing fans to determine if Loomis has a case against the British songstress. Reps for Jessie J and producer Dr. Luke had not responded to MTV News’ request for comment by press time. “Domino” is featured on Jessie’s debut studio album, Who You Are, which dropped last year. It features songwriting and production credits from A-listers like Dr. Luke, Claude Kelly, Max Martin and Cirkut. “Domino” reached #6 on the Billboard Hot 100 and spent 24 weeks on the chart. “People have heard ‘Domino’ and said, ‘It’s nothing like you.’ But I’m like, ‘Well, the album’s really eclectic anyway, and I never go into the studio and say, ‘I wanna do another song that’s like “Price Tag” or another song like “Do It Like a Dude,” ‘ ” Jessie told MTV’s Buzzworthy blog last year. “I listened to a lot of Whitney [Houston] and Prince … and we kinda just wanted to write a song that’s timeless, that’s fun and uplifting.” Do you think “Domino” and “Bright Red Chords” sound alike? Justin Bieber’s Believe: Five Key Tracks

MTV News got the chance to listen to the June 19 release in advance and breaks down the standout tracks on the album. By Jocelyn Vena Justin Bieber on his “Believe” album cover Photo: Justin Bieber/ Twitter Justin Bieber is leaving the sweet, puppy-love days of his My World albums behind for the glitzier and more mature Believe , which depicts him in the club, falling in love with girls and the hard beats. When he dropped the album’s first single, “Boyfriend,” back in March, it was clear he was making a statement, declaring, “I am man, hear me roar!” That transition is explored even further on the rest of Believe. In addition to the more mature sound, the tracks are really strong and sequenced well — they play into one another. Bieber and Usher , the album’s executive producer, have managed to craft an album that almost never misses a beat. And on an album with a lot of beats, that’s saying something. Fans are treated to the singles “All Around the World,” which features his “Baby” pal Ludacris, and “Boyfriend” first. They are strong setups for what’s to come as the album mostly bounces between swaggerfied pop ‘n’ b and epic dance music. There’s a ballad or two thrown in for good measure, just to keep Beliebers swooning. Having enlisted the likes of Max Martin, Rodney Jerkins, Babyface, Diplo and the Messengers to help shape the funky sound of the album, a quick glance through the album’s credits proves that Bieber was incredibly hands-on as well. His name appears on nearly every song’s credits. Wondering how that all shakes out? Well, before the album drops on June 19, MTV News has rounded up five standout tracks from the release. “As Long as You Love Me” The song grooves thanks to vocal effects that mesh well with the staccato beat. The track is filled with synths and a pulsing undercurrent that highlights Big Sean’s verse, where he spits lines like “I don’t know if this makes sense/ But you’re my hallelujah.” That gospel is mirrored on Bieber’s chorus, where he sings, “As long as you love me/ We could be starving/ We could be broke.” He’s expected to tease the track next week, making it a perfect candidate to be the song of the summer. “Beauty and the Beat” Speaking of summer songs, this track features the one and only Nicki Minaj and a Martin-produced beat. It is a certifiable grinding and fist-pumping club banger. And Bieber isn’t shy about his intentions on it, singing, “Body rock/ I can feel your body rock.” Minaj is sassy, as always, flirting back, but noting, “Gotta keep my eye out for Selena.” “Right Here” Drake and Bieber enter each other’s musical spaces for this sexy mid-tempo track. Drake doesn’t rap on it, opting instead to use his R&B flair and singing. The two guys, who certainly have shown their soft sides in the past, put them on full display when they let their special ladies know “I’m right here” on the chorus, later sharing emotions like “[I] promise to be all that you need.” “Thought of You” Diplo softened his love for crunchy beats for this track. It swirls and crescendos around Bieber as he repeats “I’m in love with the thought of you” on the chorus. As the song continues, it breaks down as he sings, “Gonna take some time/ But I’ll figure it out.” Diplo is clearly felt on the track courtesy of its hand claps layered with the song’s beat and Bieber vocals, where he wonders, “Why should we fight these feelings?” “Catching Feelings” Sure, much of the album is beat-heavy, but Bieber does slow it down. There’s the inspirational “Believe,” but it’s the ballad “Catching Feelings” that shows the singer’s softer side thanks to an assist from ballad king Babyface. Bieber ponders feelings like “I want to know if she feels the same” over guitar music. The song definitely has a ’90s R&B vibe to it and gives fans a second to breathe between dance tracks. And it will have girls swooning when he sings, “In my head/ We’re already together … With you I’m better.” Go on girls, faint. Which tracks are you most looking forward to hearing? Justin Bieber Parties With Ludacris On ‘All Around The World’

Bieber gets his dance on with new Believe track, which dropped Tuesday. By Jocelyn Vena Ludacris and Justin Bieber Photo: Getty Images Justin Bieber has re-teamed with his pal Ludacris on “All Around the World,” off his forthcoming album Believe , and this party track is a far cry from the sugary sweet puppy-love track “Baby.” Grinding, fist-pumping and produced by the Messengers, the song sounds a bit like it could have been recorded by Bieber’s mentor Usher. A likely contender for the song of the summer, he’ll no doubt have fans dancing along with the track. It’s a definite party anthem, full of bleeps, dubstep breakdowns and swirling production. “All around the world/ People want to be loved, yeah/ ‘Cause all around the world/ They’re no different than us,” Bieber proclaims on the club-banging chorus. When Luda pops in to drop his verse, he’s no longer rapping about first love as he did on “Baby.” He’s definitely upped the swagger for this track, mirroring Bieber’s more mature stance on the track. He spits, “Once again, dynamic duos are back!/ JB, Luda!/ I love everything about you/ You’re imperfectly perfect!/ Everyone’s itching for beauty/ But they’re just scratching the surface.” For the single’s artwork, Bieber is holding an acoustic guitar over his shoulder, standing on the surface of the world, the moon glowing behind him. The acoustic guitar is an interesting choice given how much of a dance song “All Around the World” is. This is the third song dropped ahead of the album’s release on June 19. He already has girls swooning with “Boyfriend” and “Die in Your Arms.” According to Aceshowbiz.com , Bieber will release another new track, “As Long as You Love Me,” on June 12. “All Around the World” isn’t just the name of a new Bieber song. It also happens to be the title of his prime-time special airing June 21 on NBC . The hour-long show will give fans a behind-the-scenes look at his global promotional tour in support of the album. And given the chaos he’s caused everywhere he’s been, including stops in Norway and Paris , it should make for some interesting viewing.
