Anne Hathaway Sings, James Franco Makes Charlie Sheen Joke During Oscars

Hathaway belts out comical tune ribbing Hugh Jackman before Franco takes jab at Sheen. By Jocelyn Vena Anne Hathaway performs during the 2011 Oscars Photo: AMPAS/ ABC The Oscars broadcast went nearly one hour before anyone cracked a Charlie Sheen joke. It was James Franco who did the honors, but not before his fellow co-host, Anne Hathaway got the chance to poke fun at another well-known actor. Hathaway took to the stage solo clad in a tuxedo and belted out a tune to the melody of “On My Own” from “Les Miserables,” a little jab at Hugh Jackman who she apparently wanted to do a duet with during the broadcast. “There’s a tradition of singing at the Oscars,” she mused to the crowd. “One that I was lucky enough to take part in two years ago. And this year I wanted to do a duet again with a special guest, but he bailed on me at the last minute and I couldn’t do it. But I’m not a quitter, so this is the best I could do under the circumstances.” She then got up and dazzled the crowd with her killer vocal abilities, singing these biting lines to one particular former Oscars host: “On my own/ ‘Cause someone’s a huge jackass/ I won’t say who/ Thought Australians were our allies/ It turns out Down Under’s kinda shady/ Not you, Nicole, or not any other Aussie but just one/ Who shall not be named,” as the cameras panned to Hugh Jackman, who had performed with Hathaway at the 2009 Academy Awards during a celeb-filled musical number. “He stuck his fake retractable claws/ Into my heart,” she continued. “When he left me on my own.” But the bit didn’t end there, as Franco walked onstage dressed in drag as Marilyn Monroe. “You got to wear a tuxedo,” he joked to Hathaway. “So I wore this. Weird part is I just got a text message from Charlie Sheen.” The two then played the joke off, welcoming to the stage Russell Brand and Helen Mirren, who presented the Best Foreign Language Film prize to “In a Better World” (Denmark). ‘Glee’ Covers Jamie Foxx’s ‘Blame It’: The Story Behind The Song

Show addresses underage drinking in latest episode. By Aly Semigran The cast of “Glee” in the “Blame It On The Alcohol” episode Tuesday Photo: FOX The cast of “Glee” has not only covered a wide array of songs in their two seasons on the air, but some pretty varied topics about teenage life. From gay rights to coping with death, the show has typically addressed these issues in song. But there’s one subject that almost every high-schooler has experienced in one way or another that “Glee” has all but ignored until now: underage drinking. In Tuesday’s (February 22) aptly titled “Blame It on the Alcohol” episode, some of the kids of McKinley High partook of libations, causing them to get tipsy and, in turn, make bad decisions. Cue the very song that inspired the name of the episode, Jamie Foxx’s smash hit “Blame It (on the Alcohol).” While the whole ensemble has a hand in the cover of the tune, Kevin McHale (Artie), Amber Riley (Mercedes) and Lea Michele (Rachel) are highlighted in the song that had everyone blaming it on the a-a-a-a-a-alcohol in 2009. The second single off of Foxx’s 2008 platinum album Intuition , the track featured two of today’s current hip-hop staples: T-Pain and Auto-Tune. That winning combination (plus those deliriously catchy lyrics laying blame on culprits Grey Goose and Patr

Britney Spears’ Second ‘Hold It Against Me’ Teaser Surfaces

‘If I said you have to wait 12 more days, would you hold it against me?’ pop star tweets about new clip. By Mawuse Ziegbe Britney Spears on the set “Hold it Against Me” Photo: Britney Spears The countdown to Britney Spears’ “Hold It Against Me” video continues. On Saturday (February 5), just a day after the pop megastar released a five-second clip of the forthcoming visual to her synthy dance hit, Spears tweeted another seconds-long teaser marking 12 days until fans can check out the entire video. The latest clip is packed with more color than her first teaser, with the title “Hold It Against Me” lit up in neon yellow, green and pink hues. The wreath of microphones fans caught of glimpse of a few weeks ago when Spears tweeted a picture from the set is back, and this time instead of seductively gazing over her shoulder through the mics, the pop diva looks straight ahead as a crew member slams a clapperboard in front of her face. The superstar stares directly into the camera as she sports a sparkly red top, bling-laden choker and dark eyeliner with platinum blonde curls framing her face. “If I said you have to wait 12 more days, would you hold it against me?” Spears wrote when she tweeted the video. The pop starlet has promised a daily sneak peak at the highly anticipated clip until the entire visual drops in two weeks. Britney may be rationing out brief looks of the lead video from her Femme Fatale album, but the project’s director Jonas

‘Super 8’ Super Bowl Clip Presents Even More Mystery

J.J. Abrams/Spielberg collabo teaser depicts train wreck, a Super 8 camera and a foreboding voice-over. By Katie Calautti A scene from “Super 8” Photo: Paramount Super Bowl XLV ushered a double dose of “super” — namely, the premiere of the 30-second trailer for the highly-anticipated J.J. Abrams-directed, Stephen Spielberg-produced vehicle “Super 8.” The creative force behind “Lost,” “Star Trek” and “Cloverfield” has kept his upcoming project ensconced in secrecy, refusing to divulge details about the science-fiction blockbuster — letting slip only that it’ll be set in 1979 as something of a throwback to Spielberg’s most beloved tales. What we had to sate our curiosity until tonight was the film’s release date , cast list and a painfully cryptic teaser screened before “Iron Man 2.” The “Super 8” Super Bowl XLV spot aired toward the last portion of the second quarter, and features a more elaborate view of the teaser’s train wreck, soundtracked to whimsical, John Williams-esque music. The only dialogue comes in the form of a foreboding voice-over: “Do not speak of this. If you do, they will find you.” It opens on a view of what could be any Main Street in small-town America, as our young protagonist rides his bike into what turns out to be an epic train wreck. A quick shot shows him dropping a Super 8 camera. Presumably, he’s captured footage of something that’s meant to be kept under wraps (our money’s on whatever’s attempting to forcibly pound its way out of the train car in the next shot). We’re given quick glimpses of Kyle Chandler (playing, perhaps, a concerned parent?) and Elle Fanning (standing with a group of kids, the Super 8 camera propped between them), masses of people being herded off army trucks and into shelters, perplexed-looking government officials and explosions — all with a somewhat otherworldly bent to it (think: “E.T.” meets “War of the Worlds” meets “The Goonies” meets “Cloverfield”). It appears that the film will largely be seen through the perspective of the young boy, and it certainly looks like an homage to Spielbergian style, with some J.J. Abrams action and mystery thrown in for good measure. Can we perhaps get 30 more seconds, J.J.? What did you think of the “Super 8” trailer? Let us know in the comments! Nicki Minaj, Mark Zuckerberg Shake Up ‘Saturday Night Live’

Facebook founder meets onscreen alter egos Jesse Eisenberg and Andy Samberg, while Minaj rocks the stage and hilarious sketches. By Mawuse Ziegbe Nicki Minaj Performs “Moment 4 Life” on “SNL” Photo: NBC Jesse Eisenberg just scored an Oscar nomination for his portrayal of Facebook wunderkind Mark Zuckerberg, and on “Saturday Night Live” he got the chance to share the screen with his real-life inspiration. After Eisenberg prattled on about how confident he is in comparison to the characters he often plays, Andy Samberg crashed “The Social Network” star’s opening monologue as a bratty version of Zuckerberg. The two compared their Zuckerberg styles — Eisenberg speaks in short sentences, while Samberg just wears a sweatshirt and says “I’m Mark Zuckerberg” — while the real social media whiz chopped it up backstage with “SNL” executive producer Lorne Michaels. Eventually, the 26-year-old billionaire took the stage, and when it was revealed that Eisenberg and Zuckerberg have never met, Samberg quipped, “Awkward!” and ran off. Zuckerberg then called the Oscar-nominated tale of the origins of Facebook “interesting,” and Eisenberg graciously let the Internet entrepreneur introduce the show. Eisenberg assumed a number of alter egos on Saturday’s broadcast, like the horny adolescent who rubbed balloons on his partner’s private parts during a demonstration of static electricity on “Mr. Wizard’s World.” The “Network” actor also turned up as a hapless contestant on VH1’s “Don’t Forget the Lyrics” who blurts out whatever’s on his mind, like belting “one extra testicle” instead singing Robert Palmer’s “A Bad Case of Lovin’ You.” The star also turned up in a sketch reminiscent of his “Network” performance, as a college student who gets roped into a television interview with a surly, geriatric reporter who easily loses his train of thought and continuously slams his mic into Eisenberg’s face. Eisenberg also appeared as a castmember of MTV’s “Skins” who is reduced to hawking fried chicken and used cars by reciting clumsy product-placement lines, and paired with Samberg once again for an ad for “El Shrinko,” a product that reduces man bits to a size the ladies like — or so they say. Eisenberg also joined forces with musical guest Nicki Minaj for the “Bride of Blackenstein” sketch. Minaj played a bootylicious but mouthy creation of a groovy evil genius while Eisenberg hobbled along as the hunchbacked flunky. Minaj also rocked a digital short as a geeky voyeur with an affinity for eyeing folks during inappropriate times like, say, a funeral, and even showed viewers how to do the Peeping Tom-approved dance “The Creep.” In addition to showing off her funny side, the Trinidadian-born MC also treated viewers to two theatrical stage performances. Minaj first played “Right Thru Me,” taking the stage in a voluminous mauve ball gown made of frilly tiers as pink-tinted fog enveloped the set. The star topped off the dress with a two-toned version of the Gumby-shaped wig that captivated fans when she recently hit London. Perhaps it was the gigantic gown, but Minaj stayed put for most of the song. However, she did keep the energy up by dipping in and out of her animated voices. Minaj ditched the princess look for a funky colorful bodysuit for “Moment 4 Life.” She also swapped out her Gumby wig for the towering, streaky hairpiece from her “Bride of Blackenstein” sketch, and added thigh-high magenta boots. This time, Minaj took advantage of the stage, energetically strutting around. The MC crouched and gyrated throughout the set as she showed off her singing skills, and wrapped up the performance with a dramatic pose and sneer — the type of out-of-nowhere zaniness her fans have come to crave. “I mean, to be raised in New York, and to always hear about ‘SNL,’ ” Minaj told MTV News last week. “I never had the honor of getting a pinkie toe in the building, now [I’m] here and it feels incredible.” What did you think of “SNL” this week? Let us know in the comments! Related Artists Nicki Minaj
