Diddy To Guest-Star On ‘Hawaii Five-0’

Music from Diddy-Dirty Money’s Last Train to Paris will also be featured on the CBS show. By Jayson Rodriguez Diddy Photo: Victor Boyko/ Getty Images Book ’em, Diddy ? The hip-hop mogul is scheduled to appear on CBS’ “Hawaii Five-0” this spring in an episode where he’ll play a detective looking to avenge a crime committed against his family. Music from Diddy-Dirty Money’s Last Train to Paris will also be featured in the episode, according to The Associated Press. Diddy’s latest effort debuted in the top 10 on the Billboard albums chart. “Anybody that knows me, it’s rare when I’m extra happy, but today … this last two weeks, I’ve just been blown away by all the support that I’ve gotten from you guys,” the rapper said in a YouTube clip at the time of Paris ‘ release. “You already know I deal with a lot of hate, and I talk about that. But it’s also important to talk about when I’m dealing with a lot of love, and the love that y’all have shown me and the girls on this project … y’all made this project a success, and I want to say thank you.” Recently, Diddy has been making the awards-season rounds, appearing at the Golden Globes despite not earning a nomination for his role in Judd Apatow’s “Get Him to the Greek.” He told MTV News at the Globes that he hopes to land more comedic roles in the future. “I’ve done a lot of drama mostly my whole career, with Broadway and ‘Monster’s Ball’ and stuff like that — my short little career,” he said. “But when I did ‘Get Him to the Greek,’ I really fell in love with making people laugh. I have a knack for improvisation, and hopefully I’ll be able to make people laugh more.” Are you looking forward to Diddy’s “Hawaii Five-0” cameo? Let us know in the comments! Related Artists Diddy

‘Yogi Bear’: The Reviews Are In!

Is the 3-D cartoon just for kids and woodland creatures? The critics have differing opinions. By Eric Ditzian Boo Boo (voiced by Justin Timberlake) in “Yogi Bear” In 2010, we have seen standout animated fare like “Toy Story 3” and “How to Train Your Dragon” dominate the box office. Now the year greets its final CGI-assisted children’s tale in “Yogi Bear.” The adaptation of Hanna-Barbera’s classic cartoon about picnic-basket-obsessed talking bears won’t come close to the opening grosses of those earlier Pixar and DreamWorks films. Nor has “Yogi Bear” garnered its predecessors’ rave reviews. Yet Warner Bros.’ “Yogi,” coming weeks after “Tangled” and at the same time as the rather intense PG-rated “Tron: Legacy,” could end up faring better than its rather tepid B.O. tracking predicts. Is “Yogi Bear” the right pick for you this weekend? Find out what the critics are saying and then plan accordingly. The Story “The film’s plot has Yogi [Dan Aykroyd] and Boo Boo [ Justin Timberlake ] helping Ranger Smith (Tom Cavanagh) defend Jellystone from a rapacious mayor (the funny Andrew Daly), who wants to sell off the park’s logging rights to bail out the city budget. The ranger doesn’t want to hear about Yogi’s schemes, of course. He just wants Yogi to act like a bear — rather than water-ski, steal vending machines and build a contrabulous fabtraption of a flying machine for high-tech picnic-grabbing. (The Baskit Nabber 2000, as it’s called, has no seat belts, and its safety information card is just a hand-drawn picture of passengers screaming.)” — Dan Kois, The Washington Post The Comparison to the Cartoon “Those of us who grew up on Yogi Bear cartoons can breathe easy: In his new movie — featuring a 3-D computer-animated Yogi (voiced by Dan Aykroyd) and Boo Boo (voiced by Justin Timberlake) alongside live action actors — our beloved pic-a-nic thief isn’t asked to whore himself by rapping, farting, or dropping pop culture references the way some of his animated brethren have in recent years. … There’s nothing particularly inventive in the plot or grade-school humor, but the movie skates by on the timeless, undemanding charm of watching a tie-wearing bear try to steal people’s lunches.” — Adam Markovitz, Entertainment Weekly The Dissenters “Neither smarter nor dumber than the average family-friendly comedy, ‘Yogi Bear’ is a bland and innocuous small-fry outing that retains a measure of the original Hanna-Barbera cartoon’s charm, though scarcely enough to justify the time, expense and visual-effects trickery it must have taken to inflate an endearing 2D cartoon into a dopey 3D extravaganza. Still, as Fox’s ‘Alvin and the Chipmunks’ pics made abundantly clear, there’s a sizable audience for incongruous pairings of live-action humans and patently computer-generated critters, suggesting a steady stream of guests at Warners’ picnic table through the holidays, and heavy minivan DVD-player rotation.” — Justin Chang, Variety The Dissenters, Part II “The director, Eric Brevig (‘Journey to the Center of the Earth’), probably did everything he could with the simple-minded screenplay, the dumb jokes, and the general tedium. Studio heads probably instructed him to overdo the 3D gimmicks, too. Who knows, maybe they even told him to prevent Anna Faris from being funny, which I wouldn’t have thought was possible. In a way, though, the film is faithful to the old cartoons, in that it’s grating and tiresome and not suitable for anyone over the age of 4. The animation is better, though.” — Eric D. Snider, Cinematical The Bottom Line “This is a cute movie, a kid’s movie, and a rather good one. The computer-generated bears are adorable — it’s come to this: Computer creations can be adorable — and the movie packs a lot of amusing incidents into a nice, trim 79-minute package. … For single adults, there’s no reason to see it, unless you’re a Yogi Bear completist. But adults with children, who are used to getting bored out of their skulls with children’s fare, may find in this a refreshing and politically charged change of pace.” — Mick LaSalle, San Francisco Chronicle Check out everything we’ve got on “Tron: Legacy.” For breaking news, celebrity columns, humor and more — updated around the clock — visit MTVMoviesBlog.com .

Planned West Coast Port Expansions Would Enable Asia To Import More US Coal

Coal train. Image credit: Wikipedia US coal production is at a tipping point, leaning toward more exports to Asia. It’s just as easy to load the train with the kind of coal used to make steel or activated carbon as with the sort used to generate electricity – and Chinese demand is on the increase for both. Counting on US coal port facility development, the USA is poised to satisfy that growing demand in parallel with an ant… Read the full story on TreeHugger

Justin Bieber Co-Signs Diddy’s Album While Recording New Track

‘Everybody, if you’re anybody, you’ll go get the album,’ Bieber says of Last Train to Paris. By Jocelyn Vena Diddy and Justin Bieber Photo: MTV News On Tuesday evening, MTV News was on hand when Justin Bieber was discovered laying down tracks at Diddy’s recording studio in New York City. “In the studio getting creative,” he wrote . “Just got to show luv to my big bro @iamdiddy and his new album ‘Last Train to Paris.’ ” Bieber’s manager, Scooter Braun, explained to us that the pop star had an idea for a song that he needed to “get off of his chest,” and that Diddy’s studio is like a second home for the teen superstar. MTV News was spending the day with Diddy , who just released his Last Train to Paris album. Though the rap mogul hardly ever stops working himself, he jokingly complained about Bieber being too busy for him these days. “Well, I mean, you try to get in contact with me through all my partners and whatnot, but you never really got my number, so you want my number?” the 16-year-old responded. After an exchange of phone numbers, Diddy made Bieber an official member of Diddy-Dirty Money and gave him and Braun

Diddy And Justin Bieber Team Up In The Studio

MTV News’ Sway joins rap mogul, teen idol and manager Scooter Braun as Bieber records song he wrote himself. By Kelley L. Carter Diddy, Justin Bieber and MTV’s Sway Calloway Photo: Bad Boy On Tuesday (December 14), RapFix and MTV News’ Sway tagged along with Diddy as the rap mogul went on a whirlwind promotional tour through New York in support of Diddy-Dirty Money’s just-released Last Train to Paris. There were many stops along the way — New York radio station Hot 97, a scorching-hot performance of “Coming Home” on “The View” — but the part of the day that’s sure to make the girls scream is when Diddy linked up with Justin Bieber. A little before 7:30 p.m., Diddy hung out with Justin at a recording studio. They were there because the Grammy-nominated teen idol had an idea for a song and needed to “get it off of his chest,” according to Bieber’s manager, Scooter Braun . Apparently, this studio is like a second home for the 16-year-old pop star. But it wasn’t all laying down tracks. Braun recalled the first time Bieber met the rap impresario (on the 2009 VMA red carpet), and Diddy gifted Bieber with a Diddy-Dirty Money jacket, declaring him an honorary group member! But that gift probably can’t top the 16th-birthday present the Diddy-Dirty frontman gave the Biebs this year. His big-deal birthday present? A $200,000 Lamborghini Gallardo Spyder. Before we parted ways, Scooter also dished about Bieber’s upcoming 3-D movie, “Never Say Never,” calling the MTV Films release “incredible.” Diddy and his Dirty Money ladies, Dawn Richard and Kaleena, are celebrating the release of their Last Train to Paris on Tuesday night with a Ustream party. Yay! Bike & Pedestrian Cal Park Tunnel Opens in Marin County (Video)

A Second Life for an Old Train Tunnel Ever since the late 1970s, people have been trying to turn a 124-year-old abandoned railroad tunnel into something that pedestrians and cyclists could use (and eventually, bringing back light-rail to it). Active development started 12 years ago, and after a looooong wait, the 1.2 mile tunnel (not the best place to be if you are claustrophobic) has now been officially opened in front of a very enthusiastic crowd. Cyclists and pedestrians will be able to commute between the Larkspur Ferry landing and San Rafael in a … Read the full story on TreeHugger

Diddy-Dirty Money ‘Sorry’ For Delaying The Last Train

‘To be honest, we weren’t ready,’ Diddy tells MTV News of December 14 LP. By Jayson Rodriguez, with reporting by Ricky Louis Diddy-Dirty Money Photo: Kevin Winter/Getty Images The train is almost here! After a series of delays, Diddy-Dirty Money are finally set to release their album Last Train to Paris on December 14. The Bad Boy Records CEO apologized for the number of setbacks, but said the project is finally ready. The album’s various release dates go as far back as September 2009, but the mogul says there was a reason for the changes. “The wait is over,” Diddy told MTV News. “We pushed our album back a bunch of times because we felt, to be honest, we weren’t ready. I think a lot of times artists make that mistake. They get locked into a date and they’re like, ‘Well, I told everybody my date was this.’ “And it’s not fair to change your date four times like we did,” he continued. “We’re sorry. But at the same time, we had to get to know each other better. We had more work to do to jell. We had to do different things on the album to make it more balanced and really finish the story the right way, not the selfish way. We feel comfortable now that we’re telling the story in the way it’s supposed to be told.” Currently, Diddy and company are enjoying success with two tracks, the Drake-assisted “Loving You No More” and “Coming Home,” which the group performed over the weekend on “Saturday Night Live.” Formerly of Danity Kane, Dirty Money singer Dawn Richard talked about the long-delayed project that includes a range of stars from Justin Timberlake and Lil Wayne to Chris Brown.

Diddy And Robert DeNiro Flirt On ‘Saturday Night Live’

Bad Boy mogul hits on the screen legend dressed in drag for a skit, and takes over stage with Swizz Beatz and Diddy-Dirty Money. By Mawuse Ziegbe Robert De Niro and Sean “Diddy” Combs perform on “SNL” Dec. 4 Photo: NBC Hip-hop and Hollywood went head-to-head on this week’s episode of “Saturday Night Live.” Screen great Robert DeNiro served as host and Diddy-Dirty Money supplied the musical entertainment, but one of the highlights of the episode went down the music mogul and movie legend teamed up for some laughs. The two appeared together in a skit in where Diddy — playing an over-amped music executive – touts the talents of the “Hottest Hook Guy” in the business: Blizzard Man. Andy Samberg enters a recording studio in full early ’90s regalia – colored shades, silky shirt, sprayed-stiff hair – and drops a few wiggity wack rhymes to the horror of the other producers. Then Blizzard’s mom, played by DeNiro, sashays in, suited up in a gaudy sweater and leggings outfit that catches the eye of a (presumably) delusional Diddy. “You know a bitch gotta stay dipped,” the Hollywood great says. After sizing her up later on, the Last Train to Paris rapper tells DeNiro’s alter ego that, “If you wasn’t my man’s mom, I’d tear that ass up.” For the most part, DeNiro side-stepped the loopy costumes, and played himself when stopped by fictional BET talk show “What’s Up with That?” alongside Robin Williams and Kenan Thompson as Deandre Cole for a special Hollywood-themed episode. But the screen legend messes with Cole’s habit of interrupting guests and simply stops speaking. DeNiro stares grumpily at Cole until the groove kicks in, the host bops his head and he croons “uncomfortable silence.” DeNiro also turns up as a grizzled barfly who Samberg and Jason Sudeikis have to bed in a nearby closet in order to get a drink. All three complain that the experience is horrible because they each find each other butt-ugly. It’s later revealed that real mood-killer is the presence of DeNiro’s pal, another white-haired old timer in a bathrobe played by Ben Stiller. The show inserts a hefty amount of promotion for DeNiro’s new flick “Little Fockers,” including staging a set visit from a super-excited kid who freaks out about everything — from checking out a schedule to meeting the craft-services guy — except DeNiro. When Stiller arrives, the kid praises him for his turn in “Permanent Midnight,” and glares at DeNiro, “That’s how you do drama.” The Italian-American icon also hits up an Italian talk show that pushes him to skip down memory lane. The show trots out the deer from the 1978 flick “Deerhunter” and even forces him to do an unenthused DeNiro impression. The host also gets DeNiro to unwittingly utter his singular “Taxi Driver” line, “Are you talking to me?” by speaking in the opposite direction. For most of the show, Diddy stuck to what he’s known for, performing twice with the Dirty Money ladies, Dawn Richard and Kalenna. The trio hits the stage first with “Coming Home” shrouded in dark shadows that reflect the song’s plaintive vibe. While both ladies rock stylized pompadours and chunky statement jewelry, Richard shows off her abs in a slick bra-top and Kalenna wears a snug jumpsuit. Backed by a full band and a string section, Diddy helmed the performance, spitting the lyrics in a dark jacket and declaring passionately “It feels so good” to be coming home. The crew switched up the vibe from soulful to sexy for the second performance. Swizz Beatz kicked off the trio’s rendition of “Ass on the Floor,” imploring to the audience to “Get your hands in the air!” Richard and Kalenna took center stage and vamped it up under bright red lights, working feathered capes which Dawn affixed to her bustier and Kalenna to the small of her waist. Diddy hung back stealthily by the side of the stage surrounded by a few dancers in blonde bobs and slinky outfits. The mogul later hops up to lend a hand with hypeman duties, and the bobbed women join him as unleashes his verse, posing aggressively as he spit. ‘Glee’-Cap: ‘Special Education’ Sticks Us With An Earworm

Train’s ‘Hey Soul Sister’ rears its unavoidable head as the glee clubs competed at Sectionals. By Jim Cantiello New Directions perform at Sectionals in the “Special Education” episode of “Glee” Photo: FOX Finally, the “Glee” kids (and some seniors) competed at Sectionals in this week’s “Special Education” episode. And as great as New Directions’ take on “(I’ve Had) The Time of My Life” and “Dog Days Are Over” were, there was one track that won’t get out of our heads. Sing along, if you dare! Hey-ey. Ey-ey-ey-ey-ey-ey, I really hate that f—ing Train song, it’s so annoying! Hey ey. Ey-ey-ey-ey-ey-ey, Even charming Darren Criss can’t get me to enjoy it. Wish it would die in a fiery death, But it’s like crystal meth, I’m all out of breath, Hatred in my veins Every time it finally clears From in between my ears, “Hey Soul Sister” rears It’s ugly head remains. The Warblers did a two-step dance that made me wanna cry. Hey Train, it’s time you said, “Bye bye!” [ Jim speaks ] Haven’t you guys made enough money? (I’m just sayin’ …) [ Singing ] Mr. Schue switches up some things: Blondies get a leading spot in the competition, Rachel’s lack of solo stings. She doesn’t like playing second fiddle (lots of bitching). New Directions lost a man. They need 12 to compete. This is really quite the crisis. Puck formulates a plan, But it backfires, until he finds one Lauren Zises. They sing while walking down the aisle, But listen, honey child, This isn’t worth our while. They did the same last year. Dirty dancing brings the crowd to their feet, But how did they compete Next to these antiques Singing “The Living Years”? New Directions and Warblers move on ’cause it ended in a tie. (Cop out!) I hope those old folks never die. Now Kurt’s in a blue uniform He got hazed by the Warblers They make him bird-sit. His reception is lukewarm. They shut down his ideas, Which is totally bullsh–. Oh, it’s so full of irony That he can finally be Who he wants to be As long as he blends in. He leans on Rachel’s musicality. Oh yeah, they’re now besties! You just know how “Glee” switches who are friends. Santana told Rachel that she and Finn had a good time, Which led to even more Rachel whine. Will invited Emma to the show. She told him, “Sorry, no.” Got hitched in Vegas, though. Stamos scored a bride. Will is bummed when he hears the news, But listen to me, dude, Don’t act all confused ’cause … If you liked it then you should have put a ring on it! Don’t be sad, the “Glee” kids will just sing on it! The dog days are over, so put some swing on it! If you liked it then you should have put a ring on it! [ To the melody of “Single Ladies” ] Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh [ Transitions into the melody of “Hey Soul Sister” ] TRAIN!!!!! Which was your favorite song on this week’s “Glee”? Talk about it in the comments. Related Videos Musical ‘Glee-Caps’ Of Season Two
