Diddy Describes His Prison Visit With Lil Wayne

‘It wouldn’t have been right if I didn’t go see him and check on his health and well-being,’ he tells MTV News. By Shaheem Reid, with additional reporting by Josh Horowitz Photo: Universal There was no big spectacle when Diddy visited his friend Lil Wayne earlier this month at New York’s Rikers Island. There are no pictures or video footage. Diddy told MTV News he just wanted to check in on a friend who always came through in the clutch for him. “Wayne is a trooper,” Diddy said Tuesday (May 18) while promoting his June 4 film, “Get Him to the Greek.” ” Wayne is doing great. It was a personal visit, so I don’t want to get into the details of that. We’re just counting down the days of him getting out. He’s somebody that has been there for me over the years numerous times. I live in New York. It wouldn’t have been right if I didn’t go see him and check on his health and well-being. But the status of where that’s at, that’s his personal business.” One of the ways Wayne came through for Puffy was shooting a video for Diddy-Dirty Money’s Last Train to Paris album, due June 28. “On Last Train to Paris, Wayne is on the album, Drake is on the album, we’re trying to get Hov on the album, trying to get Janelle Mon&#225e on the album,” Diddy told MTV News in March. “Everybody that’s on the album, it’s not done in a regular appearance way. It’s done in a unique way that’s authentic. It’s not about a single or [album sales]. It doesn’t have that behind it. Wayne is on a record that’s called ‘Strobe Lights.’ It’s one of the first records where I hear him talking about love and how love has affected him. That’s the type of things I wanted to get out of people if they were on the album. I wanted people to get out of their comfort zone and do something that was special. He did the video for me over the weekend. ‘Strobe Lights,’ it’s gonna be tough.” Diddy also said Wayne’s absence from the scene is a big loss. “I think we gonna miss a certain energy that Wayne has,” Diddy said. “The beauty about it is, he’ll be back, and hopefully he’ll come back a better person. Whenever we get in trouble, we’re in the public spotlight. So hopefully there’s a lot of kids out there who could learn from any mistakes that we may have put ourselves in, even if we’re not guilty of the crime sometimes. We are human. People have to learn: ‘Make sure you know where you’re going, who you riding with, what the situation is.’ We’re targets. I’m just happy he doesn’t have to do a lot of time and that he’ll be out, and hopefully he’ll use the time wisely and use it in a positive way.” What do you think about Diddy visiting Lil Wayne in prison? ‘Iron Man 2’ Soars Past ‘Robin Hood’ At The Box Office

Superhero sequel holds first place despite competition from Ridley Scott and Russell Crowe. By Josh Wigler Robert Downey Jr. in “Iron Man 2” Photo: Paramount Pictures The Box-Office Top Five #1 “Iron Man 2” ($53 million) #2 “Robin Hood” ($37.1 million) #3 “Letters to Juliet” ($13.8 million) #4 “Just Wright” ($8.5 million) #5 “How to Train Your Dragon” ($5.1 million) “Iron Man 2” held on to the top of the box-office charts for the second weekend in a row despite elevated competition from a slew of new releases, including Ridley Scott’s “Robin Hood.” Although the Marvel Studios superhero sequel earned a victorious $53 million from Friday through Sunday, it still suffered a steep 59 percent plunge from its $128.1 million opening weekend. Even with such a sharp decline, “Iron Man 2” already ranks as the second-highest-grossing release of 2010, behind Tim Burton’s “Alice in Wonderland.” Additionally, the movie has grossed an impressive $428.2 million worldwide total after only three weeks in theaters. Director Ridley Scott and actor Russell Crowe returned to their “Gladiator” roots with “Robin Hood” this weekend. The medieval epic came in second place with $37.1 million at the domestic box office and an additional $74 million from foreign showings, resulting in a $111.1 million global total. But with a hefty $200 million production budget and surefire hits such as “Sex and the City 2” and “Shrek Forever After” arriving over the next few weeks, “Robin Hood” faces a challenging road in its quest to cross the profit line. The weekend’s other major new releases, “Letters to Juliet” and “Just Wright,” landed in third and fourth place with $13.8 million and $8.5 million respectively. “Letters” failed to match the success of leading lady Amanda Seyfried’s previous romantic hit, “Dear John.” Fifth place belonged to the continually successful “How to Train Your Dragon” with $5.1 million. Horror remake “A Nightmare on Elm Street” fell to sixth place with $4.7 million. Upcoming Releases Moviegoers can return to the kingdom of Far Far Away next weekend as “Shrek Forever After” enters the box-office arena. The DreamWorks family film goes up against Universal’s “MacGruber,” based on the Will Forte-starring “Saturday Night Live” sketch. We Just Feel Bad for Tila Tequila

At this point, we just feel sorry for Tila Tequila. Sure, we could refer to her as a pathological liar for inventing a pregnancy. We could mock her for claiming that God is her BFF . We could, once again, call her out for exploiting the death of her ex-girlfriend, Casey Johnson. We could say many disparaging things about this poor woman… but to what end? We simply pity Tila by now, as she put on a concert to celebrate the launch of her new EP, Welcome To The Darkside , last night – and the most famous person to show up for it was former American Idol contestant Trenyce. Plus, she wore the following outfits at the event. They speak, tragically, for themselves…

Delusional Dina Lohan Defends Drunk Daughter

Queen of Denial and Worst Mom Ever candidate Dina Lohan is going on the record about her troubled daughter Lindsay’s reported financial troubles. Shocker – she says it’s all overblown and everything’s fine. Dina denies Lindsay owes $600,000 in credit card debt, though she does concede there were shakeups among those keeping tabs on her accounts. “She is not going into credit card debt. Absolutely not. And her business managers… I actually am in contact with them every day,” Dina proclaims . Everyone feel better about the situation yet? We sure do. This is an old school photo of insane Dina and troubled Lindsay Lohan kickin’ it with her bad ass former boy toy Calum Best. Why? Why not is the real question . “Yes, Lindsay will spend money but she has people that run what she does,” Dina says, meaning her new manager. “We kind of cleaned house. Lindsay doesn’t really pay her bills. Someone else does, so they wouldn’t let her do that.” “And in the interim, you know, a bill may be a little late or not, you know, but that’s pretty normal. That happens to me, that happens to everyone,” she adds. Yeah, being $23,000 behind on rent totally happens to everyone. When it comes to reports of Lindsay’s all-night partying , Dina also says the stories are fabricated and overblown: “People don’t understand how the press manipulates,” she said. “What you read in the press is completely fabricated.” No it’s not . Photos showing the train wreck drunkenly falling into a cactus aren’t “manipulations.” Dina also insists her career is great. Man, she needs a shrink. “She has her 6126 clothing line which is doing amazing,” she says. “We’re in Neiman Marcus, Bloomingdales… she designs everything from soup to nuts.” We think what she means is she is nuts.

B.o.B Tops iTunes Singles Chart, MGMT Rule Album List

Ke$ha, Coheed and Cambria and more knock last week’s champ Jack Johnson out of the top 10. By Gil Kaufman B.o.B Photo: Frank Mullen The critical response to MGMT ‘s sophomore album Congratulations has been mixed so far , but their fans had no qualms downloading the psychedelic warriors’ album from iTunes. According to figures provided by iTunes, the trippy disc shot right to #1 on the iTunes albums chart this week, bumping mellow strummer Jack Johnson out of the #1 position . (In fact, after one week at the top, Johnson was out of the top 10 entirely for the sales week that ended Monday). MGMT were followed by Ke$ha’s Animal, which likely stormed back up thanks to her appearance on “Saturday Night Live,” and Coheed And Cambria’s Year of the Black Rainbow, which we like to think was goosed by their win in the MTV Musical March Madness competition. Holding steady at #4 were multiple Academy of Country Music Award-winners Lady Antebellum with Need You Now, followed by Usher’s Raymond v. Raymond, Justin Bieber’s My World 2.0, the self-titled debut from former “American Idol” finalist Jason Castro, the latest “Glee” cast recording, Glee — The Music, the Power of Madonna, former 10,000 Maniacs singer Natalie Merchant’s Leave Your Sleep and Lady Gaga’s The Fame. (Precise sales figures are not available because iTunes does not provide sales data for the iTunes store.) Spiked from the top 10 was former Guns N’ Roses guitarist Slash’s self-titled debut, which was #2 last week, and albums by the John Butler Trio, Sigur R

Train And B.o.B Top iTunes Singles Chart

Jack Johnson’s To the Sea holds the top spot on the digital-albums chart. By Gil Kaufman Train’s Patrick Monahan Photo: C. Flanigan/ FilmMagic The weekly iTunes albums and singles chart aren’t always identical to the Billboard tallies, because downloading habits are sometimes way different from what people are picking up on the trip to the local Wal-Mart. And while much of this week’s iTunes top 10 mirrors the action on the Billboard side, there are a few notable highlights that show where mainstream tastes diverge from Web ones. Let’s take the iTunes singles chart first. It is currently topped by mellow rockers Train with their comeback hit “Hey, Soul Sister,” which is a few slots further down on the Billboard side. iTunes doesn’t release specific sales figures, but suffice it to say it was another solid week for up-and-coming MC B.o.B, whose collabo with Bruno Mars, “Nothin’ on You,” is at #2 on the singles chart, followed by Rihanna (“Rude Boy”), Taio Cruz and Ludacris (“Break Your Heart”), Jason Der

Train’s Pat Monahan Salutes Miranda Lambert On #MusicMonday

San Francisco band’s frontman has ‘The House That Built Me’ on heavy rotation. By Kyle Anderson, with reporting by Matt Elias Train Photo: MTV News Before the release of their latest album Save Me, San Francisco , Train went on a three-year hiatus. While many groups have trouble getting back on the horse after spending time apart, the San Francisco-based band hasn’t missed a beat, and their current single, “Hey, Soul Sister,” sits at #3 on the Billboard Hot 100. It’s the most successful song of their long career (which has also included the smash hits “Meet Virginia” and “Drops of Jupiter”), and it earned them a #MusicMonday shout-out a few weeks ago from Orianthi . Train have always had a healthy country influence in their sound, but Save Me, San Francisco has a tremendous amount of twang and heartbreak. That’s probably why frontman Pat Monahan has been spinning one of country music’s biggest divas at the moment. “The song I’m into right now is Miranda Lambert’s ‘The House That Built Me,’ ” Monahan told MTV News on the set of Train’s new video, which is being directed by former Fall Out Boy bassist Pete Wentz . “I just think it’s a really amazing song and a super-great record. If she wants to do a ‘Crossroads’ with us, call me up!” “The House That Built Me” comes from Lambert’s latest album Revolution and is not only steadily climbing up the Billboard Country chart but also up the Hot 100. The track was written by Tom Douglas and Allen Shamblin, who between them have written hits for Lady Antebellum, Martina McBride and Bonnie Raitt. Perhaps Monahan is trying to expand his horizons through collaboration, as he is already working with INXS on an album that will re-imagine that band’s classic hits with new singers, a roster that also includes Rob Thomas and the Killers’ Brandon Flowers. Lindsay Lohan’s Leg Show

Lindsay Lohan’s party girl reputation seems to be alive and well these days, here she is doing her thing a hiked up pair of short shorts and weird heels. I’m not sure I’m down with this style of wearing the short shorts, I may be a traditionalist, but I personally prefer them to be riding bellow the bellybutton and just above the spot where pubic hair would start if women had pubic hair these days…. Which, thanks to those clever Brazilians, most of them don’t. I’m just waiting for this train wreck to crash… All over my sweaty naked body.
