Fantastic Fest Review: Dead Sushi [VIDEO]

If you’re not familiar with Japanese director Noboru Iguchi, here’s all you need to know: his filmography includes the titles Zombie Ass: Toilet of the Dead (2011), Mutant Girls Squad (2010), and RoboGeisha (2008). Certifiably obsessed with farts and poop (his segment in The ABCs of Death , “F is for Fart”, is about a girl who dies in ecstasy smelling her female teacher’s farts) this low-budget genre master got his start in AV movies before making the transition to the mainstream (as mainstream as he’s ever gonna get, anyway) with Sukeban Boy (2006), starring topless model Asami as a boy who looks so much like a girl, his father sends him to an all-girls high school. All that T&A could have fooled us! Iguchi’s new movie is Dead Sushi (2012), a light-hearted and frequently hilarious horror-comedy about an inn under attack by killer mutant sushi. Yeah, like spicy tuna. Iguchi says he was inspired to make Dead Sushi by Attack of the Killer Tomatoes (1978) and Jaws (1975), which if you think about it–a Japanese guy combining killer fish and killer food– makes perfect and complete sense. The same can’t be said for the movie, but trust us– we mean that in the best way possible. Up and coming karate star Rina Takeda stars as Keiko, whose sushi chef father kicks her out of the house because women’s hands are too warm to really make good sushi. So Keiko gets a job at a remote inn, but when a drifter with a bad wig and a chip on his shoulder shows up and injects dinner with a radioactive serum, the metal guitar starts shredding and bloody martial arts mayhem ensues. Dead Sushi isn’t trying to be anything profound, but it must have been a ton of fun to make. It certainly is to watch. At one point a piece of sushi rips a guy’s throat out, and at another woman’s face is mangled by a piece of sushi; the guy watching doesn’t try to help her, but reaches out for one last grope at her boobs before she dies. Iguchi regular Asami shows up in a non-nude role as the mistress of the inn, fans of Japanese girls in their underwear will be more than satisfied, and there’s an absolutely gratuitous scene where AV star Marin goes topless as she prepares for a bath, blissfully unaware of the soon-to-be-dead pervert watching her from the tub. Silly, sexy and completely over-the-top, Dead Sushi (2012) is a movie that speaks to the perverted 12-year-old boy in all of us. Stay tuned for an interview with Dead Sushi star Rina Takeda and director Noboru Iguchi right here at MrSkin.com!

Kink Queen Belladonna Bids Adieu to Porn…Again [PIC]

We’ve seen Belladonna in some compromising positions over the years- including the last time she said she was going to retire from porn , then changed her mind less than a month later . Now the AVN Hall-of-Famer known for her outrageous anal antics has once again announced that she will hang up her dildos (on camera, anyway) and retire from porn…for good. Early last week, Belladonna announced on Twitter that ” I am no longer interested in having sex on camera. That chapter of my life is finished. I’m ready for my next challenge. ” What will that challenge be, exactly? She went on to clarify: ” The things I will be spending my time doing are: aerial silks, school, acting, dancing and of course being the best mother I can be. I haven’t had sex on camera since January and have been thinking about this transition for sometime now. ” We’ll see if she ends up with her foot in her mouth this time around. Skin Central saw her do that in a video once… See Belladonna in action in nude pics and clips, including Pirates II: Stagnetti’s Revenge (2008), right here at MrSkin.com

Against Me! Singer Tom Gabel Plays First Show As Woman

Transgender singer Tom Gabel is now performing as Laura Jane Grace. By Gil Kaufman Tom Gabel of Against Me! Photo: Getty Images Just weeks after coming out as transgender , Against Me! singer Tom Gabel performed her first show as Laura Jane Grace. The 40-minute set at Humphreys Concerts by the Bay in San Diego was the first stop in a month-long U.S. tour with the Cult and according to Rolling Stone , the show included six new songs. Among the fresh tunes was the title track of the album the quartet is working on, “Transgender Dysphoria Blues.” In the RS interview, Gabel/Grace said she’s been dealing with gender dysphoria for years, struggling since childhood with discomfort in her male body . After detailing the upcoming steps she plans to take as part of the transition, Grace said she planned to live her life as a woman for a full year before thinking about gender-reassignment surgery. At the San Diego show, Grace wore a loose-fitting black tank top, tight black jeans and black eye shadow. “I was worried that some people expected me to come out looking like Little Bo Peep or something,” Grace told the mag after the show while hanging out at the merch table with her wife, Heather. She said she’d be happy to discuss her transition with fans, but since most of the crowd were there for the Cult, the stage patter was kept to a minimum. When the band played the 2007 song “The Ocean,” which includes the lines “If I could have chosen / I would have been born a woman,” fans sang along and broke into cheers and applause. “She did it for herself, not for anybody else. This is about her,” said longtime fan Jimmy Gomez, 23. “She’s doing something she really loves now and she’s really happy — that’s really awesome.” Grace is two weeks into hormone replacement therapy, which involves redistribution of her body’s muscle mass. And while she was worried about how it might affect her stamina, the band plowed through the show with no apparent issues. Among the new songs they performed were: “Osama bin Laden as the Crucified Christ,” “Dead Friend,” “True Trans Soul Rebel,” “Drinking with the Jocks” and “Black Me Out.” Related Artists Against Me!

Tom Gabel Reveals Details Of Transgender Life In Rolling Stone

Against Me! singer details her long journey to her new life as a woman and her plans to ‘meet it head-on.’ By James Montgomery Tom Gabel of Against Me! Photo: Getty Images In the new issue of Rolling Stone, Tom Gabel goes public with her life-long struggle with body dysphoria, her transgender status and her desire to live life as a woman . Gabel, who will be known as Laura Jane Grace, makes the admissions in a feature in the magazine, which hits newsstands on Friday and details the long road she took to get to this point; from her first childhood realizations that she was uncomfortable in her male body — she has early memories of watching Madonna on TV and fantasizing about being her, and says she played with Barbies — to her teenage years in Florida, where she kept her secret hidden and felt ashamed, telling writer Josh Eells that she would often pray to God, asking, “Dear God, when I wake up, I want a female body.” And when that didn’t work, she’d try pleading with the devil, saying, “I promise to spend the rest of my life as a serial killer if you turn me into a woman.” Gabel said that she took inspiration from a transgender Against Me! fan named January Hunt — the feature opens with the two meeting in New York City — to finally begin transitioning from male to female, and has begun the process by undergoing electrolysis treatments (she’ll also soon begin taking hormones). She says she plans on living life as Laura for a full year before thinking about having sexual-reassignment surgery, and that she’s given up drinking alcohol, because she wants to be totally present for the transition process. “I don’t want to feel like, ‘This is an uncomfortable situation, I’ll have a couple drinks,’ ” she said. “I want to meet it head-on.” At the time of the Rolling Stone interview, Gabel had yet to reveal her transgender status to her parents, who are divorced, and had only recently told her Against Me! bandmates about her decision to transition (“I felt like I drop-kicked them in the face,” she said. “We had the most awkward hug ever, and then they left. And the second I shut the door, I was like, ‘What the f— did I just do?’ “). But she says that she has every intention to carry on fronting the band, saying: “However fierce our band was in the past, imagine me, six-foot-two, in heels, f—ing screaming into someone’s face.” And though much of the Rolling Stone feature focuses on Gabel’s journey, Eells also spoke at length with Gabel’s wife, Heather, who admitted to being a bit thrown by her husband’s revelations, but ultimately decided that she wanted to stand by her side during the transition … and beyond. “I kept waiting to get mad. Like, ‘Tomorrow, I’ll be really upset,’ ” Heather told the magazine. “I’m like ‘Let’s just see what happens, and we’ll just roll with it.’ My friends have been like, ‘What about you?’ But I’m fine. I just want him to be who he is, and for us to get on with phase two. You know, just … change.” Related Artists Against Me!

Sandra Bullock: Adopting Second Child?

Already the mother of two-year-old son Louis, Oscar winner Sandra Bullock is reportedly adopting a second child … or at least in the process of trying to. Sandra and then-husband Jesse James had planned to adopt Louis together, but in the aftermath of their shocking split, she took on sole custody of the boy. She has planned to expand her brood since adopting Louis back in early 2010, a source revealed: “Sandra has always planned to have more than one child.” “She feels now is a good time for a new baby to be welcomed into the family. Louis is a little young to understand that he is going to be a big brother.” “However, Sandy is trying to get him ready for the transition.” The source adds that Sandra has filed the adoption papers now as it may take a long time to process. She has no preference on the sex of the baby. “It took her about 18 months to finally get Louis, and there is no time table as to when she will get the second child,” the insider said of the adoption. “Sandy’s lawyer told her it could take a year to complete the process. She doesn’t care whether or not it’s a boy or girl. She just wants a healthy a baby.” In related news, Charlize Theron adopted a baby boy yesterday! [Photo: WENN.com]

Poster Premiere: Ron Perlman Goes Transgender in Frankie Go Boom

While some marketing efforts demand a close read , others allow no margin for misundertanding what they are, where they come from, or what they portend. Take writer-director Jordan Roberts’s comedy Frankie Go Boom , which premieres this weekend at South By Southwest with arguably the best tagline of any festival film in history and the promise of Ron Perlman in full transgender mode. Get your first look at the poster — and a tagline translation — after the jump. Perfect! Now in English: Frank Bartlett has been tortured, embarrassed and humiliated by his brother Bruce — usually on film — his entire life. Now that Bruce is finally off drugs and has turned his life around, things should be different. They are not. And why might that be? Another bit from the synopsis made available to Movieline: While trying to remove a compromising video from the internet, two brothers (Charlie Hunnam and Chris O’Dowd) visit a brilliant computer hacker named Phil (Ron Perlman). But when they get there, they discover that Phil is now Phyllis… …and she has no intention of helping them for “free.” The rest will remain a mystery until Frankie Go Boom unspools for the first time Saturday night in Austin, where Movieline’s own Jen Yamato will be on hand for a look. Stand by for that and plenty more from SXSW. And please form an orderly queue until these one-sheets are available for the home, the office, and beyond. Follow S.T. VanAirsdale on Twitter .
