MC Lloyd Banks also recorded a question for Soulja Boy to answer via MTV’s live stream this Thursday. By Jayson Rodriguez Soulja Boy Tell’em Photo: Rene Cerzantes Mr. “Pretty Boy Sway” is in the building this week as Soulja Boy Tell ‘Em will be the next artist to sit down with him for “RapFix Live,” set to stream on MTV.com this Thursday at 1 p.m. ET. Anybody can ask Soulja Boy a question: All you have to do is tweet your inquiry to @mtvnews (be sure to include the hashtag #rapfixlive so that we can track your questions). If you’d rather show your face on the Internet, record your question on video and upload it to Your.MTV.com (just be sure to include “Soulja Boy Tell ‘Em” in the title of the clip). The Teen of the South, now 20, follows in the digital footsteps of Rick Ross , Wiz Khalifa , Fat Joe (with a surprise visit from Blink-182 drummer Travis Barker, who provided music for an impromptu freestyle by the Bronx rapper), and Lloyd Banks as a “RapFix Live” guest. Last week, Banks exclusively announced he had inked a new recording contract with EMI Records for his next album, The Hunger for More. The G-Unit MC also took the opportunity to “pass the mic” to SB and ask the “Crank Dat” star a question. ” ‘Pretty Boy Swag’ was like one of my favorite records for the year,” Banks told Sway. “I wanna know what the next joint is gonna be. And when I’m gonna get the phone call to be on it?” Log on to MTV.com this Thursday at 1 p.m. ET to watch Soulja Boy answer Lloyd Banks’ question and more! Related Artists Soulja Boy Tell’em

Eminem Enlists Sham Wow Guy For Recovery Ad

Video features pitchman Vince demonstrating the many uses of the disc, out June 21. By Gil Kaufman Eminem Photo: Nigel Parry Now that Eminem has pushed up the release date of Recovery by a day to June 21 (following the album’s leak last week), the Detroit rapper is pulling out the big guns to promote the disc. In a new video ad called “Emwow” that looks calculated to go viral, Vince the ShamWow guy sets aside the miracle sponge for 30 seconds to sell you about the slice-it, dice-it wonders of the new Marshall Mathers disc. Wearing a black polo embroidered with the Recovery title and his signature headset, Vinny holds up the disc and announces, “Hey, it’s Vince with Eminem’s new album, Recovery, and you’re gonna be clappin’ when you hear Eminem rappin’.” He then demonstrates the “dozens of uses” for the disc, including slicing razor-thin tomatoes for your sandwich, serving as a drink coaster, a necklace for the ladies or even as bling for your garden hose (get it?). He even suggests cutting the disc in half (an unusual selling point for a CD, but we’ll go with it) and using one part to slice cheese and the other to chop onions. “Tacos, steak bone, silicone,” Vince demonstrates, tossing aside a breast implant and oversharing, “I like mine real, so forget about it.” This being Eminem, the ad ends with some bathroom humor, as Vince announces a special bonus product thrown in for free, a feminine-hygiene product called the ShamPon. The rapper surprised his fans at Activision’s E3 party on Monday night in Los Angeles, bringing out guests Travis Barker and Rihanna to help him celebrate the upcoming release. A spokesperson for Em’s label said the album, which features guest spots from Pink and Lil Wayne in addition to Rihanna, will hit stores a day earlier than expected to satisfy the rapper’s biggest supporters. “We believe fans want to support their favorite artists by purchasing the real album and not a leaked version,” Steve Berman, vice-chairman of Interscope Geffen A&M, said in a press release announcing the new date. “At the same time, we realize speed is of the essence when fans are so passionate about wanting to hear new songs from such an enormously popular artist like Eminem. … Even by releasing Recovery only a day earlier than previously announced, it makes a difference to those fans.” What do you think of the “Emwow” ad? Does it make you more likely to buy the new disc? Sound off in the comments. Related Photos The Evolution Of: Eminem Related Artists Eminem

Eminem Surprises E3 Crowd With Guests Travis Barker, Rihanna

Rapper headlined Activision concert that included Usher, Will.I.Am, Jane’s Addiction and others. By Matt Elias Eminem performs at E3 on Monday Photo: Chris Weeks/ Getty Images LOS ANGELES — Eminem performed an electrifying set at Activision’s E3 party on Monday night, crushing any doubts that he had lost his touch since his long hiatus from the rap game. The Detroit MC headlined a massive bill that included Usher, Will.I.Am, N.E.R.D., Jane’s Addiction, Chris Cornell, David Guetta, Deadmau5 and DJ Z-Trip. Em’s set kicked off with his first surprise of the night at the Staples Center, with Travis Barker jumping behind the drums for an acrobatic drum solo. Em joined him moments later (flanked by D12’s Denaun Porter), taking the stage just before midnight. He was decked out in a black jacket, black jeans and a silver crucifix hanging around his neck. With Em, Barker, Porter and a live band all onstage, the crowd was up on its feet right from the get-go. The six-song set began with “Won’t Back Down,” off of Recovery, which Em just announced would be released on June 21, a day earlier than originally planned . From that moment, there was an energy in the arena that could be felt from the floor all the way up to the luxury suites. Eminem followed with a couple of his recent features — one from B.o.B’s “Airplanes (Part II)” and the other from Drake’s “Forever.” As Drake’s chorus blared, Eminem marched down the stage’s catwalk, chanting “Bounce, bounce, bounce.” He was clearly on his game, bobbing and weaving while he delivered his verses. All of this was punctuated by Barker’s thumping drumbeats, which made it feel more rock show than rap show. After three songs, Eminem addressed his adoring crowd, shouting, “Los Angeles! What the f— is up? Make some motherf—ing noise!” As if he had to ask, Staples Center erupted in ovation. Em then dedicated his next song, “Not Afraid,” to all of the fans that have stuck by his side over the years. His live band was joined by a full orchestra on both sides of the stage. If that wasn’t enough, later in the song, Eminem was joined by an entire gospel choir that numbered in the dozens. Then Eminem sprung his next surprise. “Before I get into this next song,” he said, “I wanna bring out a very special guest.” After a few moments, Barbadian beauty Rihanna appeared onstage with a bright crop of candy-apple-red hair. The duo got right into “Love the Way You Lie” — another new song off the upcoming Recovery. Em and Ri had great chemistry onstage, taking turns sauntering down the catwalk and passing glances at each other throughout the performance. As the song ended, the show seemed to be over. Eminem thanked the crowd and exited the stage. His band stayed on, however, and slowly started playing the opening notes of “Lose Yourself.” As the song built, Eminem stormed back onto the stage and the crowd (as if they could get any louder) exploded. As he ripped through the song, the crowd grew even more excited, with Porter serving as the hype-man. Finally, as the song finished, a shower of gold confetti rained down on the crowd marking the show’s end — but not without its share of surprises. The Game Drops Red Room Mixtape With DJ Skee

Travis Barker, Diddy, Lil Wayne, Birdman and more appear on tape dropping Monday. By Shaheem Reid The Game’s The Red Room Photo: Universal Music Group The Game’s anticipated The Red Room mixtape comes out on Monday (April 26). Though it was originally slated to be a special Gangsta Grillz edition mixtape with DJ Drama, Game made an 11th-hour switch and went back to his playa potna DJ Skee, who has been a part of several Game mixtapes over the years. Skee contributed production to the mixtape as well, making a “Skeemix” of the Compton native’s controversial “400 Bars.” Travis Barker lends his drums to a remix of the Cool and Dre-produced “Shake.” Game has no shortage of fire power elsewhere in the mixtape. Diddy appears on “Heartbreak Hotel,” and Nipsey Hussle raps on the freestyle “Ha Ha,” which uses Fat Joe’s “Slow Down” beat. Lil Wayne, Jadakiss, The Birdman, Jim Jones, Hurricane Chris and Bizzy Bone all appear. Game also introduces new talent such as Kanary Diamonds and Maad Maxx. The Red Album comes out on June 15 and features guest spots from Dr. Dre and Justin Timberlake. The Red Room track listing, according to Game’s Camp:

A-Trak On His And Travis Barker’s WMC Tribute To DJ AM

‘It was very important for me to have one show where I could do an official dedication’ to AM, A-Trak says. By MTV News staff, with reporting by Akshay Bhansali DJ A-Trak Photo: MTV News MIAMI — On Thursday night, Travis Barker, A-Trak, Lil Jon Jazzy Jeff and Steve Aoki were some of the guests on hand to honor the late DJ AM at an unannounced tribute show on Thursday night at Miami’s LIV nightclub during the Winter Music Conference. MTV News caught up with A-Track in the wee hours of Friday morning (March 26), after his set at the Fools Gold party at Grand Central. “At LIV, it was a party for DJ AM — obviously a dedication to him,” A-Trak said. “[He was] a dear friend of mine, we miss him a lot. I’m now doing shows with Travis, so it was very important for me, especially knowing how much Travis and AM established a partnership before [AM] passed, to have one show where I could really do an official dedication and a dedicated routine to him — a scratching thing that he particularly liked, and do it in his honor and pass the torch, in a sense.” The lineup of the show — part of the Winter Music Conference — was a tightly guarded secret , though most in attendance suspected that both Barker and Trak, who recently toured as a duo, were part of the bill. And when they hit the stage shortly after midnight, those suspicions were confirmed. The Hottest News From WMC 2010!

Rihanna Takes Drum Lessons From Travis Barker Before Tour

‘She jams! Watch out for her,’ Barker tweets. By James Montgomery Rihanna and Travis Barker Photo: Travis Barker Rihanna ‘s European tour doesn’t kick off until next month (with a full U.S. jaunt scheduled for the summer), but from the looks of things it’s already shaping up to be a can’t-miss show. That’s because, in addition to the usual ephemera — Lights! Props! Costumes! — Rih Rih is also expanding her repertoire for the tour by learning how to play the drums. And she’s taking lessons from one of the best in the business: noted metronome/masher Travis Barker . Late Tuesday (March 23), Barker’s reps sent MTV News a photo of the dynamic duo after a recent practice at the Hollywood Center Studios and the Blink-182 smasher included a note that promised that not only will Rihanna be playing live onstage (no click track here), but that “she’s really good.” He later posted even more about the rehearsals on his Twitter account , writing, “She Jams! Watch out for her!” We’re inclined to believe him because at this point, Barker has collaborated with practically everyone under the sun, including his current gig with DJ A-Trak , which he unveiled earlier this month with a string of shows at the Roxy Theatre in Hollywood. Rihanna’s European tour gets underway April 16 in Antwerp, Belgium, and runs until early June. She’s also set to perform at the upcoming Kids’ Choice Awards, along with the likes of Justin Bieber. There are no firm dates for her U.S. tour, but it is reportedly set to kick off this summer.
