George Zimmerman To Appear In Court To Face 2nd Degree Murder Charges George Zimmerman will be hauled into court to face second-degree murder charges Thursday — arrested 45 days after he killed Trayvon Martin and walked free. The charges against Zimmerman show prosecutors didn’t buy his claims of self-defense. Instead, they believe he intended to kill Trayvon. The Florida cops’ refusal to arrest Zimmerman when he killed the unarmed black teenager on Feb. 26 sparked a national civil rights crusade and a series of rallies, marches and petitions. “It is the search for justice for Trayvon that has brought us here,” special prosecutor Angela Corey told a packed news conference in Jacksonville, Fla. “We did not come to this decision lightly. We do not prosecute by public pressure, nor by petition.” Zimmerman surrendered at the state police office in Jacksonville. He will plead not guilty at his initial appearance Thursday, his lawyer said. Prosecutors are charging Zimmerman with second-degree murder, which carries a maximum sentence of life without parole. Legal experts had expected the lesser charge of manslaughter — an unintentional killing — especially in light of police officials’ insistence that Zimmerman should face no punishment at all. Legal experts said Corey’s decision to hit Zimmerman with murder charges could give prosecutors — or a jury — leeway. “By charging second-degree murder she gives herself flexibility in plea negotiations to come down to manslaughter – and gives the jury options to consider if the case results in a trial,” said David Weinstein, a criminal lawyer based in Miami. On Tuesday, Zimmerman’s two former attorneys held an extraordinary news conference to announce they were quitting because they had had no contact with Zimmerman since Sunday. Sharpton hailed the arrest of Zimmerman, but cautioned against celebration. “We do not want anyone high-fiving tonight. This is not about gloating, this is about pursuing justice,” he said. “They have lost their son.” Hopefully this azzhole will get the maximum sentence. R.I.P. Trayvon. Source More On Bossip! George Zimmerman will face criminal charges in the death of Trayvon Martin. According to a senior law enforcement quoted by CNN, CBS, ABC, NBC and the Associated Press, the neighborhood watch captain in Sanford, Fla., will be charged criminally in the February 26 case that has captivated the nation. A legal analyst said earlier that the most likely charge would be manslaughter, but it was just announced that Zimmerman faces second-degree murder charges. A press conference announcing the decision took place at 6 p.m. Wednesday. Angela Corey, the special prosecutor appointed by Florida Gov. Rick Scott to look into the incident, stated earlier that she would not take the case to a grand jury . That automatically ruled out first-degree murder as an option, but the second-degree murder charge was still on the table – and ultimately what Corey decided. “I can tell you we absolutely did not come to this decision lightly,” Corey told reporters moments ago. “We do not prosecute by public pressure.” Zimmerman is in custody, Corey confirmed, though she gave no additional details. CNN reports that he surrendered to local officials earlier today. Lawyers for Zimmerman, 28, stepped down from the case Tuesday, saying he’d become uncommunicative and expressing concern for his emotional and physical well-being. “As of the last couple days, he has not returned phone calls, text messages or emails,” Craig Sonner, one of Zimmerman’s former attorneys, said.

‘I respectfully decline my induction as a member of Guns N’ Roses to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame,’ frontman posts on Facebook. By James Montgomery Axl Rose Photo: Kevin Mazur/ Getty Images Ever since Guns N’ Roses were announced as Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductees in December, speculation has swirled about just who from the band’s lengthy list of current (and former) members would show up at the ceremony. Well, now we know who won’t : mastermind Axl Rose, who announced Wednesday (April 11) that not only does he have no plans to attend Saturday’s induction ceremony in Cleveland, but he wants nothing to do with the Hall at all. “I won’t be attending … and I respectfully decline my induction as a member of Guns N’ Roses to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame,” Rose wrote in a Facebook message. “I strongly request that I not be inducted in absentia and please know that no one is authorized, nor may anyone be permitted, to accept my induction or speak on my behalf. Neither former members, label representatives nor the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame should imply, whether directly, indirectly, or by omission that I am included in any purported induction of ‘Guns N’ Roses.’ ” Rose added that his reasoning behind the message was “personal” and “neither meant to offend, attack or condemn” any GN’R members who decide to attend the induction. He also hinted that, since Guns were announced as inductees, he’d worked with Hall officials to find an appropriate solution to the very real problem of who would be inducted under the name of Guns N’ Roses, hoping to avoid “a complicated or awkward situation.” But, apparently, no solution could be reached. “I feel we’ve been polite, courteous and open to an amicable solution in our efforts to work something out,” Rose wrote. “Taking into consideration the history of Guns N’ Roses, those who plan to attend, along with those the Hall — for reasons of their own — have chosen to include in ‘our’ induction … and how those involved with the Hall have handled things … [it] doesn’t appear to be somewhere I’m actually wanted or respected.” A spokesperson for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame did not respond to MTV News’ request for comment by press time. Rose also used his open letter to (once again) put to rest any and all speculation of burying the hatchet with former members — like guitarist Slash or drummer Steven Adler, to name a few — and launching a full-scale reunion tour, writing: “Time to move on. People get divorced. Life doesn’t owe you our own personal happy ending, especially at another’s — or, in this case, several others’ — expense,” he wrote. “Maybe we can get the ‘no show, grandstanding, publicity stunt, disrespectful, he-doesn’t-dare-about-the-fans crap out of the way … no one’s taking the ball and going home. … From my perspective, in regard to both the Hall and a reunion, the ball’s never been in our court. “In closing, regardless of this decision and as hard to believe or ironic as it may seem, I’d like to sincerely thank the [Rock Hall] board for their nomination and their votes for Guns’ induction,” he added. “More importantly, I’d like to thank the fans for being there over the years, making any success we’ve had possible and for enjoying and supporting Guns N’ Roses’ music. I wish the Hall a great show, congratulations to all the other artists being inducted, and to our fans, we look forward to seeing you on tour!” What do you think of Axl’s note? Zimmerman is now in custody after being charged with murder in the second degree in the Florida teen’s shooting death. By Rob Markman Trayvon Martin Photo: AP After months of public outcry, there was a major break Wednesday (April 11) in the tragic shooting death of Florida teen Trayvon Martin : Triggerman George Zimmerman was charged with murder in the second degree. Special prosecutor Angela Corey announced the charges during a press conference in Jacksonville, Florida, just a half-hour after it was reported that Zimmerman turned himself in to authorities. Zimmerman was arrested and now is in an undisclosed location. Martin’s February 26 death sent shockwaves through the nation. Zimmerman, a neighborhood watchman, saw 17-year-old Trayvon walking through his gated community in Sanford, Florida, and immediately grew suspicious of the teen, who was wearing a hooded sweatshirt. When Zimmerman called 911, police dispatchers advised him not to pursue Martin. By the time police arrived on the scene, Martin was shot dead and Zimmerman, who claimed self-defense, was not arrested or charged with a crime. Trayvon didn’t have a weapon. A week after the shooting, Sanford Police Chief Billy Lee said there was no evidence to dispute Zimmer’s self-defense claim and they couldn’t arrest Zimmerman because he was protected by the so-called “Stand Your Ground” law that allows Florida residents to shoot someone they reasonably believe is threatening them. According to reports, Zimmerman told police Martin punched him in the nose, knocked him down and repeatedly slammed his head into the ground. Since the shooting death, there has been public outrage. Demonstrators took to the streets , and on March 23, President Obama called for an investigation into the incident, saying, “If I had a son, he would look like Trayvon.” The hip-hop community has been particularly vocal, calling for justice for the teen. ?uestlove, Game , Young Jeezy, Nas , Killer Mike and Prodigy all spoke out in protest, while rappers like Plies and Bad Boy’s Los made songs dedicated to Trayvon. What do you think of the second-degree murder charges handed down to George Zimmerman? Let us know in the comments.

George Zimmerman To Be Charged In Trayvon Martin’s Shooting Death A Florida special prosecutor has decided to charge neighborhood watch captain George Zimmerman in the shooting death of unarmed teen Trayvon Martin, sources told ABC News. The decision by Florida special prosecutor Angela Corey is expected to be announced at a 6 p.m. news conference in Jacksonville, Fla. The prosecutor’s ruling is certain to provoke controversy in Sanford, Fla., where shooting took place and across the country. Zimmerman, 28, a white Hispanic neighborhood watch captain, shot and killed Martin, who was 17 and black, on Feb. 26 after following the teenager for several minutes. The special prosecutor’s ruling came one day after Zimmerman’s legal team quit because they had lost contact with him, and suggested that the pressure of the case had “pushed him over the edge.” His lawyers said that Zimmerman was no longer in Florida and ABC News has learned that prosecutors do not know his exact location. Earlier this week, Sanford Mayor Jeff Triplett said his city has become a “kindling box” due to the high emotions surrounding the case, and that he would “plan for the worst and hope for the best.” R.I.P.
