With over a year to go until Katniss and company return for Catching Fire , Lionsgate has gone ahead and revealed the final new cast members for this wildly anticipated sequel in one joint announcement. Who will be joining new additions such as Sam Claflin and Alan Ritchson ? Lady Gaga, Adele and Lil Wayne make top 10 By Gil Kaufman Taylor Swift Photo: Getty Images Lady Gaga , Katy Perry and Adele had huge years in 2011, with major tours, strings of hit singles, Grammy wins and #1-hogging chart-topping albums. But when Billboard magazine compiled its 2012 list of “Music’s Top 40 Money Makers” it was Taylor Swift who ruled them all. In fact, the 22-year-old country pop darling out-earned all of her fellow ladies combined. According to the magazine’s calculations, Swift earned her #1 spot on the earner’s list thanks to reported earnings of $35.7 million in the 2011 calendar year. Those earnings came from a combination of revenue from quadruple-platinum-plus the sales of Speak Now and its accompanying tour, which grossed $88.5 million in the U.S. alone. But because Swift writes her own songs, she also rolled up a big chunk of change in songwriting royalties as well. Right behind Swift was iconic rock band U2, who earned a reported $32.1 million thanks to their record-setting 360 tour — which grossed a whopping $736 million total over two years — including $50 million in merchandise sales and 1.4 million in digital track sales. Country singer Kenny Chesney was #3 with $29.8 million, followed by previous tally topper Gaga at #4 with $25.3 million. She stayed in the top 5 thanks to sales of Born This Way and its accompanying Monster Ball tour, which grossed more than $51 million. She also moved 12.7 million digital tracks. Lil Wayne rounded out the top 5 with $23.1 million, made up of 12.3 million in digital track sales, $44.7 million in tour grosses and cash from his gig as founder of Young Money Entertainment. The rest of the top 10: Sade (#6, $16.3 million), Bon Jovi (#7, $15.8), Celine Dion (#8, $14.2 million) and Jason Aldean (#9, $13.4 million). Adele rounded out the top list at #10 with $13 million, mostly from the unstoppable streak of her 21 album’s chart run, which included sales of 6.7 million copies last year alone. The “Glee” cast were just outside the top 10 at #11 ($12.5 million), Katy Perry hit #14 (11.9 million), Britney Spears was at #16 ($10 million) and like her sisters in pop, Rihanna made it to #22 ($7.6 million) through a combination of album and single sales and touring revenue. Other notable entries: Enrique Iglesias (#23, $7.4 million), Usher (#30, $6.2 million), Foo Fighters (#31, $6 million), Justin Bieber (#35, $5.5 million), Kanye West (#39, $5.3 million) and Linkin Park (#40, $5.1 million). Billboard calculated the figures based on proprietary data from its Boxscore archives for concert grosses, Nielsen SoundScan for sales of physical and digital albums, singles and ringtone sales, and Nielsen BDS for terrestrial radio play and streaming service information. Don’t miss the ‘Hunger Games’ red-carpet premiere tonight at 8:30, streaming live from MTV News! By Kevin P. Sullivan, with reporting by Josh Horowitz Josh Hutcherson in “The Hunger Games” Photo: Lionsgate As the countdown to “The Hunger Games” grows shorter and shorter, fans have been craving as much of the tributes as they can possibly get. Luckily, we have a brand-new exclusive clip from the upcoming movie. Soon after they are chosen for the games, the tributes from District 12, Katniss ( Jennifer Lawrence ) and Peeta ( Josh Hutcherson ), go through the public relations wringer, including a broadcast interview with the eccentric TV personality Caesar Flickerman, played by a very blue-haired Stanley Tucci . In this exclusive clip, Peeta sits down to answer a few personal questions from Caesar before heading into the arena. Similarly, the cast and crew of “The Hunger Games” will have to face the judgments of the diehard fans of the book, when the film finally comes out on March 23. MTV News’ Josh Horowitz spoke with Lawrence about her reaction to seeing the finished film and how fans have treated her during the lead-up. “It was really good. It didn’t surprise me, which was good. During filming, I really liked everything what I was seeing. I liked everything that Gary was doing. Then I saw it, and it was all there,” Lawrence said. “It’s always hard for me watching because I think I am a horrible troll and I’ll never work again. Overall, I think everybody else in the movie is fantastic, and I think the film itself is really good.” Life has changed significantly for Lawrence since scoring the highly coveted role, not for the better in some cases. “I get photographers hiding in my bushes,” she said. “We’re way past autographs. We’re into being stalked and followed.” Other than the paparazzi, the response has been generally more positive for Lawrence. “Everyone’s been really nice fortunately. Each week, we’ll dissect the latest ” Hunger Games ” news, fangirl over Katniss Everdeen or simply share our surefire recipe for Peeta bread. This is one arena we’re sure you won’t mind entering. Today the talk of the tributes is clearly the premiere of the full-length “Hunger Games” trailer, set to debut on “Good Morning America” on Monday, November 14. Following the MTV Video Music Awards sneak peek of Katniss hurtling herself through a fire-washed forest, we compiled a list of the five things we wanted to see in an extended clip (which included, among other things, the reaping, Peeta and the Capitol). So in this week’s Hobnobbing, we’re turning that idea on its head and listing the three things we don’t want to see in the trailer. Let me explain. Trailers of late have garnered a bit of criticism for giving away too much (plot, punch lines, etc.), and I don’t disagree. Let’s leave a little mystery, studios! While I’ll be lining up for “The Hunger Games” regardless, there are a few moments that I think would be best served by a silver-screen reveal. Here they are: 1. Katniss’ Girl on Fire costume In my original wish list, I asked for a scene featuring Katniss expertly styled by Cinna and hinted at the possibility of her enflamed entrance into the arena. But on second thought, I’ve decided this moment deserves a similarly grand introduction — on a 70-foot movie screen. (Though I’ll still take Katniss done up for Caesar Flickerman’s talk show….) 2. The muttations Though “The Hunger Games” obviously isn’t a monster movie, the arena’s rife with its own unholy terrors, chief of which are the genetically engineered wolves spliced with fallen tribute DNA. (I shudder just thinking about this.) The best scary-movie trailers leave the bogeyman out of sight, creating heightened suspense, and these lupine nightmares deserve the same sort of treatment. 3. Any character deaths Author Suzanne Collins does not pull any punches killing off the tributes of the 74th Hunger Games, and while we’re curious to see how this violence translates in the movie adaptation, a 2-3 minute trailer is not the place for these grisly finales.
