DirecTV Revives Damages

DirecTV is ending this long, hot Monday on a high note. The company has announced that it is rescuing Damages from cancellation by offering a two-season run to the FX series, which has garnered Glenn Close back-to-back Emmys. What’s more, unlike Friday Night Lights (where DirecTV partnered with NBC ), Damages will not have a second run on a broadcast network. Now, if only DirecTV could save Party Down … [ NYT ]

Seth Rogen and Barbra Streisand Offered My Mother’s Curse

A year after this idea was originally floated out into the ether, it seems that Seth Rogen and Barbra Streisand have officially been offered roles in My Mother’s Curse . The Dan Fogelman-scripted film will be directed by The Proposal ‘s Anne Fletcher and casts Rogen and Streisand as mother and son on a road trip across the country. Last summer, Rogen called the film “one of the many projects [he] may or may not do in the next fifteen years,” so expect to see it sometime before 2024. [ The Playlist ]

Would You Pay $800,000 for a Censored Rerun of True Blood?

When HBO sold Sex and the City into syndication, pundits scoffed that there wouldn’t be much left in the episodes after timid basic-cable edits, but with some prudent trimming of Kim Cattrall’s most salacious scenes, the reruns did big business on TBS without too much of an outcry. Still, can HBO stablemate True Blood possibly survive to a syndicated version bowdlerized of its sex and violence — and is the network asking too much for it?
