The big reveal came with a bit of a contest. The first 20 people who were able to put the full poster together out of the puzzle pieces she’d released and tweet a photo to @KatyPerry using #KP3D will be picked to have a chance to see their Twitter handles featured in the closing credits of the colorful 3-D flick. The July 5 release was directed by Magical Elves’ Dan Cutforth and Jane Lipsitz, who also served as producers on Justin Bieber’s successful “Never Say Never” concert movie. In a trailer released in early April , fans got a taste of what they would see and hear in the flick, including Perry’s candid confessions about her religious childhood and her split from Russell Brand. MTV News spoke to Perry in March about the film, and she explained just what fans will see in it. “It’s closing the chapter on [my album] Teenage Dream, but it’s giving you such an inside perspective,” Perry said. “This film, you’re going to see it from my best friend/buddy perspective, you’re going to see exactly what I mean and feel and think about everything.” The movie was filmed during her California Dreams trek. “That tour was so life-changing to me. I learned so much, I went through so much along the way,” Perry said. “I’m not necessarily trying to prove anything to anyone, but not only will people really hands-down know me after they see this film, but you’ll see me as the Dorothy wearing the red ruby slipper and at the end of it all I’m the [Wizard of] Oz as well.” Related Videos MTV First: Katy Perry’s ‘Part Of Me’ Related Artists Katy Perry

Jay-Z Says Jay Electronica Album Is ‘Really Close’

‘Him as a lyricist is almost scary. He’s scary good,’ Jigga tells MTV News of his Roc Nation signee. By Rob Markman Jay-Z Photo: MTV News There’s nothing typical about Jay Electronica . In fact, many wondered how the enigmatic MC would fit in with the major-label system at all. Luckily for Jay Elec, his Roc Nation boss Jay-Z is sympathetic to the sensibilities of his creative spirit. “I love that, I want to support that sort of energy. I want people to be creative and not traditional, not just a single [at] this time, this time [and] this time,” Jay-Z told MTV News on Monday, when he was in Philadelphia to announce his two-day Made in America music festival . “You know, he operates at his own time, but the album is really close.” Hov announced in November 2010 that he signed Elect to his budding Roc Nation label. Jigga insisted then that his goal was to “reintroduce magic to hip-hop,” and a year and a half later, the God MC is still excited by the New Orleans rapping wizard. Electronica has long hyped his official debut, Act II: Patents of Nobility (The Turn), with gleeful tweets, sending periodic updates on the LP’s progress. In March he messaged fans, stating that the wait was finally over and the album was complete, though he made no reference to any release date. “Dear Believers and Patient Supporters. Thank you for your patience and support. The Album will be turned in Tomorrow evening. The wait ends,” he tweeted. Still, when it comes to the “Exhibit C” rapper’s sporadic music-release patterns, there is no telling. In April he dropped “Dear Moleskine.” Before that, in October 2011, it was the Prodigy-assisted “Call of Duty” , and before that, back in November 2010, there was “Shiny Suit Theory.” It’s not a pace traditionally suited for today’s rap race. But Jay-Z assures us that there is an album and that it’s pretty damn good, if he does say so himself. “It’s exactly what it should be — it’s amazing. Him as a lyricist is almost scary. He’s scary good,” Jigga gushed. “I’m doing something to it that’s really untraditional, so we’ll see how it works.” Are you eagerly anticipating Jay Electronica’s debut album? Rihanna On Mend After Flu-Related IV

After ‘Battleship’ star tweets photo of an IV in her arm, source says she had a fever and flu ‘but is fine now.’ By Kara Warner Rihanna Photo: Lester Cohen/ WireImage Celebrities: They’re just like us! Even the most famous pop stars catch the flu bug every now and then — at least, that’s what seems to have been ailing Rihanna recently. The 24-year-old singer issued a colorful complaint about feeling under the weather via Twitter over the weekend, and then surprised her 18 million followers with the photographic proof of her unidentified illness Tuesday with a Twit pic that showed RiRi in bed with an IV in her arm. According to People , a source close to Rihanna said the singer is on the mend and was not suffering from anything serious: “She had a fever and flu since last week and needed an IV, but is fine now.” Not that we’re qualified to offer a diagnosis here at MTV News, but judging from all the traveling, performing and promotion Rihanna has been involved in during the past month leading up to the release of her first movie, “Battleship,” as well as her performance on “SNL,” it seems likely the young woman was simply worn out. Here’s hoping she takes some actual time off for rest and relaxation. Meanwhile, we only have to wait a little while longer to see the “Where Have U Been” singer in her big-screen debut, a role that Rihanna said she relished because she got to be a total badass. “I wanted to do something badass, but I didn’t imagine it would be grungy, like straight Navy soldier, no makeup,” Rihanna said of her expectations for her first movie role. “I enjoyed it. “Battleship” opens May 18. Check out everything we’ve got on “Battleship.” For breaking news, celebrity columns, humor and more — updated around the clock — visit MTVMoviesBlog.com . ‘Game Of Thrones’ Throws Out The Book

Latest episode features a massive departure from the source material. By Josh Wigler Alfie Allen in “Game of Thrones” Photo: HBO See that beautiful platinum-blond princess across the way? That’s Daenerys Targaryen. Stay away from her. Everyone she loves dies or gets taken away — not ideal for those of you who value your lives. Honestly, as much as I’m loving this season, I’m not happy with where “Game of Thrones” is taking Dany. I’m an avid fan of George R.R. Martin’s source material but not a stickler or purist who believes his novels must be adapted to the letter. Still, the liberties taken with Dany in Qarth, this week in particular, feel needless and damaging to who the character is. We’ll get deeper into that later in our recap. Keep reading for more updates from Westeros, most of them blood-soaked and reeking of death — with one lovely exception. Bye-Bye, Whiskers Northerners, man. Those guys have a hard time hanging onto their heads, don’t they? Ser Rodrick is the latest to die on the chopping block, at the hands of the traitorous (not to mention embarrassingly weak) Theon Greyjoy, now fancying himself Lord of Winterfell and Prince of the Iron Islands. As we say goodbye to the sweetest whiskers in Westeros, Rodrick’s final words ring true: Theon really is truly lost now. But where Theon falls, his performer rises: Actor Alfie Allen continues to kill it as Theon this season. If you think you’ve seen him at his lowest after this week — well, keep watching. Gone With the Reeds With Winterfell sacked, Bran and his companions are left powerless … well, not entirely powerless. The crafty Osha sleeps with Theon and manages to sneak Bran, Rickon, Hodor and the direwolves out of House Stark’s royal seat as a result. It’s cool to see this story moving so quickly, but still, where are Jojen and Meera Reed? The greenseer and his sister are huge parts of Bran’s story at this point in the books, but with their continued absence and Osha’s increasing prominence, I’m beginning to think they’re out of the picture for good. Casualty of adaptation, I suppose, but a change I’m sorry to see. Ra Ra Riot The North isn’t the only area of Westeros under fire. In King’s Landing, the wicked Joffrey’s awful behavior nearly costs him his life when he incites a bloody riot that turns the streets red. He barely escapes with his life — though he thankfully doesn’t evade a physical shaming at Tyrion’s hands once again — as does Sansa, who is nearly raped by a trio of rioters. Her life is saved by the Hound, who finally gets his long-awaited Terminator moment when he guts one of the would-be rapists and kills the other two in equally merciless fashion. One of the best characters in the books, Sandor Clegane hasn’t had much to do on the show so far. Perhaps this is the beginning of bold new things for the most feared burn victim in the Seven Kingdoms. Kissed by Fire It wasn’t all doom and gloom on “Thrones” this week. Finally, Jon Snow has met his match in Ygritte, a wilding warrior woman who is more than prepared to meet her maker should the worst come to pass. Of course, she also values her life greatly and isn’t afraid to make some moves on Jon to keep herself safe. That’s not great news for Jon; as a man of the Night’s Watch, Lord Snow isn’t allowed to take women into his bed. Then again, he’s a teenager and, well, you know — hormones and all that. Perhaps what happens north of the Wall stays north of the Wall? Where Are My Dragons? All the way east in Qarth, Dany is unsuccessful in recruiting the city’s leaders to her cause to sail to Westeros and claim the Iron Throne. Worse, when the khaleesi returns to her quarters after her failed attempt to secure a fleet, she finds many members of her khalasar — beloved handmaiden Irri included — dead, with her dragons missing to boot. None of this happens in the books. I’m guessing it’s a dramatic new way to get Dany to the House of the Undying, where she’ll experience her fair share of life-altering events. But it’s an unnecessary departure that, A) kills even more of the characters in Dany’s story despite their survival in the books, further complicating the butterfly effect the show will have to deal with as it gets deeper into Martin’s mythology, and B) cheapens Dany’s character by stealing her dragons right out from under her. Just as she says, Dany is a strong and fierce fighter fueled by fire and blood. She is the mother of dragons. There is no world in which Dany’s dragons are taken from her without her losing her life in the process. I don’t like what the show’s decision to steal Dany’s dragons away from her says about the character, but maybe that’s just me. What say you, readers of “Ice and Fire”: Are you as bothered by the new changes to Dany’s story as I am, or are you not sweating it? Hit us up in the comments below and let us know! Beastie Boys’ Ad-Rock Pays Tribute To Adam Yauch

‘Saturday Night Live,’ Dalai Lama, Thom Yorke and fun. also honor Beasties rapper MCA. By Gil Kaufman Michael ‘Mike D’ Diamond, Adam ‘Ad-Rock’ Horovitz and Adam ‘MCA’ Yauch of The Beastie Boys Photo: WireImage Two days after losing his life-long friend and band mate of 30 years, Adam “MCA” Yauch
, Beastie Boys rapper Adam “Ad-Rock” Horovitz posted a heartfelt note on the band’s Tumblr page about his late comrade. “As you can imagine, s— is just fkd up right now,” he wrote in the blog, which was accompanied by a picture of a hand with the message, “PWR 2 MCA” in front of a bank of CDs. “But I wanna say thank you to all our
friends and family (which are kinda one in the same) for all the love and support.
I’m glad to know that all the love that Yauch has put out into the world is coming right back at him.” Yauch, who died at age 47 on Friday after a three-year battle with cancer, was shouted out by many of his friends, admirers and acts he’d influenced over the weekend. Fun. threw in a verse of “Sabotage” as part of their encore at Washington D.C.’s 9:30 Club on Friday night and “Saturday Night Live” played a clip of the group’s 1994 performance of “Sure Shot” on the show featuring Rihanna
as a musical guest. HBO dedicated the broadcast of last month’s Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony into its broadcast of the proceedings, where the B-Boys were inducted as only the third rap group to enter the the Hall. Among the luminaries weighing in was exiled Tibetan Buddhist leader the Dalai Lama, who released a statement in which he said, “Adam had helped us raise awareness on the plight of the Tibetan people by organizing various freedom Tibet concerts and he will be remembered by his holiness and the Tibetan people.” Yauch, a Buddhist who was behind the landmark all-star Tibetan Freedom concerts
of the late 1990s, was blessed by the Dalai Lama last year. MTV News also took to the airwaves to express our appreciation for the influential artist with the one-hour special “Adam Yauch: Remembering a Beastie Boy,”
during which we reflected on the legendary MC’s career and the indelible mark he made on music as a whole, as well as on society. Kim Gordon, former bassist for Sonic Youth, who were big supporters of the Tibetan Freedom shows, issued a statement to England’s New Musical Express , in which she praised Yauch’s lyrical abilities, “He told me once that he really liked the lyrics to [Sonic Youth’s] ‘Bull In The Heather’. It surprised me that he had even listened to it. It meant a lot to me that he went out of his way to tell me that, coming from such a great rapper and lyricist.” Another Tibetan Freedom supporter and performer, Radiohead’s Thom Yorke , posted a remembrance on the band’s website, in which he wrote, “I was very sad to hear the news of Adam Yauch’s death yesterday.
We looked up to the Beastie Boys a lot when we were starting out and how they maintained artistic control making wicked records but still were on a major label, and the Tibetan Freedom Concerts they organized had a very big influence on me personally and the way Adam conducted himself and dealt with it all impressed me a lot. He was a mellow and v smart guy. May he rest in peace.” The tributes followed earlier ones from the likes of Madonna
, the B-Boys’ longtime DJ, Mix Master Mike and Justin Timberlake
as well as in-concert shout-outs from Coldplay and the Red Hot Chili Peppers. Share your memories of Adam on Twitter using the hashtag #RIPMCA. Related Videos Beastie Boys’ Adam Yauch: 1964-2012 Related Photos The Beastie Boys’ Adam ‘MCA’ Yauch: A Life In Photos Related Artists Beastie Boys

Poor Thang: Lamar Odom Blames Cousin’s Death For Throwing Him Off His Ball Game

Poor lil Lam-Lam ! Lamar Odom Admits Cousin’s Death Affected His Basketball Performance This is actually pretty sad and we feel for Lamar right now: According to RadarOnline.com reports : Lamar Odom has made an intimate confession to his three million Twitter followers in a bid to explain his woeful performance for the Dallas Mavericks this season. The 32-year-old NBA veteran, who had been at the top of the game for a staggering 13 years before this recent dip in form, got into an argument with angry Mavs fans after he tweeted a message that ended: ‘The comeback kid!’ Lamar, whose starry life away from the basketball court with wife Khloé Kardashian hasn’t helped his standing with frustrated Texans, infuriated some followers by suggesting that if he improves his game, he could be the next P. Diddy. He wrote in full: “Being the best basketball player I can possibly be will allow 2 become the next P.Diddy. I know whats fly! Dis the Year. ThecomeBackKid!” One fan, called TJPerry, shot back: “Maybe should’ve thought about ‘being the best’ when you were collecting a check from the mavs instead of sulking like a b!” Odom initially replied: “Use your platform 2 speak wisely and be an honorable fan not a fan-atic. there is a difference . just look u follow me. luckyU!LuvYa” But when other fans chimed in to ask if the criticism was unjust, Lamar opened up to an unexpected degree. He responded: “It was hard to 2 get the picture of my cuz who was 24 was shot in the head out of my mind! Thanks 4 support.” As RadarOnline.com previously reported, Khloé’s husband was also the passenger in an accident where a 15-year-old boy was killed during the past year. In addition, the troubled athlete has been dealing with his ailing father, and persistent rumors that his two-and-a-half year long marriage is in trouble. The couple are taking a break from their E! reality show, Khloé & Lamar, as Lamar tries to get back on top of his game. The price of fame… Lamar is really feeling the backlash from his high-profile marriage and reality tv fame. We hope that he recovers from his family mourning and is able to get back on his square.
