‘Twilight’ Stars Return To Comic-Con For ‘Breaking Dawn’

Summit announces cast Q&A session and ‘exclusive footage’ from first part of finale. By Kara Warner Taylor Lautner, Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson Photo: Jun Sato/ Getty Images Attention, “Twilight” fans: Summit Entertainment announced Tuesday (June 14) via the “Twilight” Facebook page that “Breaking Dawn – Part 1” will play a significant role in the studio’s presentation at San Diego Comic-Con this year. “The studio will host one of the first panels of the day in Hall H on Thursday, July 21st dedicated to ‘The Twilight Saga’ franchise,” Summit’s statement reads. “Fans interested in the story’s final chapters will be shown exclusive footage from ‘The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1’ and be treated to a filmmaker and cast Q&A session providing details on the first half of the epic two part finale, in theatres November 18, 2011.” We don’t know which castmembers will be in attendance yet, but because July 21 is still a ways away, we imagine Summit will release a few more details as the epic comic and pop-culture convention approaches. For those who have been following “Twilight” since the beginning, you will likely remember that Comic-Con 2008 was the first time the cast appeared together in public, creating a frenzy so big and shocking that other media outlets in addition to MTV News finally realized how serious the fans were about the soon-to-be blockbuster and its stars. In 2009, the stars were back for more, and their popularity had grown considerably, leading to mile-long lines outside Hall H where their panels were to take place. The three lead actors — Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart and Taylor Lautner — admitted that the convention was still an intimidating place . The rest of the massive cast was also on hand for a series of appearances around San Diego, along with unveiling a slew of “New Moon” and “Twilight”-specific merchandise . Last year, Comic-Con was without any major “Twilight” action since “Eclipse” had been released already and production on “Breaking Dawn” had yet to begin. So what will happen this year? Katy Perry’s Geeky Teen Alter Ego Joins Twitter, Facebook

In a teaser for upcoming ‘Last Friday Night’ video, science-fair loving Kathy Beth Terry gets trashed at a house party. By James Dinh Katy Perry’s “Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.)” cover art Photo: Capitol Pop stars often take on different personas in their music videos, but Katy Perry has taken it a step further, unveiling a dorky new alter ego before the release of her clip for “Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.).” For the fifth single off Teenage Dream, Perry has transformed into a 13-year-old high-schooler named Kathy Beth Terry, whose Facebook page lists her birthday as June 1, 1998. The visual for the Dr. Luke and Max Martin-produced feel-good tune drops June 14. Fans caught an early glimpse of the “Last Friday Night” video in a teaser released online on Tuesday (June 7). In the 35-second sneak peek, an invite for “the party of the summer” is pinned onto Kathy Beth’s corkboard, alongside her science award ribbon and dentist appointment reminder. “What, what was last night?” a confused Kathy asks herself in the clip, before a flashback montage shows festivities, kids dancing, and the wide-eyed teen throwing up in a shoe. Perry’s solar-system-loving persona has already hit the social media realms of Twitter and Facebook. Not only does Kathy Beth Terry love a good party, but she’s a technology wiz too. “Harry S. Truman High: your firewall is weak, just hacked into @Twitter at the library, you can’t block me, n00bs!” Kathy tweeted on Tuesday. If fans want to know even more about Kathy, they can head to the high-schooler’s Facebook page and read up on some of her interests, which include high-school science fairs, Beanie Babies and Hanson. As for where the 13-year-old gets her fashions from, Kathy writes, “I shop at Mervyn’s and Dillard’s (sometimes). I WISH I could afford 579!” What do you think of Katy’s video teaser? ‘Twilight’ Rookie Noel Fisher Opens Up About ‘Breaking Dawn’

‘There’s a lot of joking and having a good time,’ he tells MTV News of vibe on set. By Terri Schwartz, with reporting by Eric Ditzian Photo: Jason Merritt/ Getty Images The cast of “The Twilight Saga” might have won all their MTV Movie Awards for “Eclipse,” but the real focus was on the trailer for “Breaking Dawn.” Because the hype is so strong for the fourth installment of “The Twilight Saga,” newcomer Noel Fisher was invited to attend his first MTV Movie Awards. Fisher, who plays Vladimir in “Breaking Dawn,” described the experience as “way next level.” Fisher won’t hit the big screen until “Breaking Dawn – Part 2” comes out in 2012, and he was completely unwilling to share any plot tidbits when MTV News caught up with him on the red carpet. “Can’t tell you about that yet! I’m in the second movie, I can tell you that. But other than that, can’t tell you too much about the actual script or what happens in it,” he said with a laugh. SEE PICS OF THE “TWILIGHT” CAST’S BIG MOVIE AWARDS NIGHT. Since it was his first Movie Awards and the rest of the “Twilight” cast’s third, MTV asked if any of his co-stars gave him some words of advice for walking the red carpet. “The biggest piece of advice I found was just be yourself,” he said. “The really nice thing about it is that everyone is so friendly, so just kind of relax and be yourself and get to meet people.” Fisher said he had a similarly good experience on the set of “Breaking Dawn,” where everyone welcomed him in as part of the “Twilight” family. The vibe on set was “really fun,” he said, especially since Vladimir comes into the story at a point when many other new characters join up with the Cullens as well. “One of the best parts about doing this for me was everyone was really friendly. They have such a nice camaraderie and such a nice repartee back and forth. You can see it onscreen, [and] it’s very much offscreen [too]. There’s a lot of joking and having a good time,” he said. “They’re all very professional and they can do that, and then they can turn in and be in what they need to be in. It was really nice.” Another exciting part of coming to the Movie Awards for Fisher was the chance to see the exclusive “Breaking Dawn” trailer. Unfortunately someone leaked the sneak peek before the Movie Awards started, but Fisher said he held off on watching the video so he could see it at the show. He said he was a bit upset about the fact that it had been leaked ahead of time and the fact that “Twilight” exclusives have been leaked in the past. “There’s a lot of excitement about the movie and people want to see it really badly, but I think that the point of it, you kind of have to hold on to it and just let it come. It’s more satisfying,” Fisher said. MTV News has all of the highlights from the 2011 MTV Movie Awards . Nicki Minaj Promises ‘More Theater’ On Britney Spears Tour

‘So much to me is music, but it’s also about putting on a show,’ she tells MTV News at Movie Awards. By Gil Kaufman, with reporting by Eric Ditzian Nicki Minaj Photo: MTV News Nicki Minaj was pulling double duty at the 2011 MTV Movie Awards on Sunday night. In addition to providing some eye candy for co-presenter Ashton Kutcher to stare at, the Young Money queen spoke to MTV News backstage about her upcoming tour with fellow pop diva Britney Spears . With Spears’ Femme Fatale Tour slated to kick off June 16 in Sacramento, California, Minaj said the pair are getting ready to put their heads together during rehearsals. “We probably won’t start talking about what we’re planning for another couple days,” Minaj said. “I’ve been just rehearsing, and she’s been rehearsing, and we’ll be getting together in a couple days.” With more than a month off since finishing her stint on Lil Wayne’s I Am Still Music Tour , Minaj said she’s been working on her stagecraft and trying to find a way to interject more drama into her performance to keep up with what will surely be an eye-popping spectacle from Spears. “I’m just trying to put more theater on that stage. So much to me is music, but it’s also about putting on a show, so that’s my goal: to truly put on a show and incorporate theater and dance,” Minaj said. “I think it’s pretty easy to take it to the next level … I think I’m nowhere close to where I could be as far as my shows have been. So I think it’s going to be pretty easy, actually.” The ladies’-night tour will also feature sets from Nervo and Jessie and the Toy Boys. What are you expecting from Minaj’s warm-up act? ‘Breaking Dawn’ Last Day ‘Wasn’t Super Dramatic’

‘It was surprising, actually, how little we had to say when we finished,’ Nikki Reed tells MTV News. By Terri Schwartz, with reporting by Josh Horowitz Kellan Lutz and Peter Facinelli Photo: MTV News “Breaking Dawn” has wrapped, the trailer has officially debuted at the MTV Movie Awards , and the stars of “The Twilight Saga” are nearing the end of their years-long franchise. MTV News caught up with Nikki Reed, Kellan Lutz and Peter Facinelli outside the Gibson Amphitheatre after “Eclipse” won the Golden Popcorn for Best Movie. The Cullen trio chatted about the last day of shooting, saying it wasn’t as emotional as fans might have expected. “It was surprising, actually, how little we had to say when we finished, to be honest,” Reed said. “We know we’re going to see each other, so it wasn’t super dramatic.” Facinelli agreed, adding, “We have two more movies coming out, so it wasn’t so much of a goodbye as it was a ‘see ya later.’ ” According to the three “Twilight” stars, there was no big commotion made on their last day of filming “Breaking Dawn.” In fact, none of the stars even made a speech. “We should have a speech right now!” Facinelli suggested. “Kellan?” Lutz turned to his co-stars and deadpanned, “I worked the very last day, and I hate you mother—-ers. That’s my speech.” Though the stars of “The Twilight Saga” still have another year and a half until the second part of “Breaking Dawn” hits theaters, and then will have to make press rounds to promote the DVD and Blu-ray release, they still are willing to look into the future to what they will be doing for other projects. Or they’re willing to joke about it, at least. “Broadway musical, let’s do it,” Facinelli said with a laugh. ” ‘Carlisle on Ice.’ I can’t wait.” “I’ll buy a ticket,” Lutz offered. ‘Twilight’ Stars Feared ‘Harry Potter,’ ‘Inception’ At Movie Awards

‘I think some of us were a little bit nervous,’ wolf pack member Tinsel Korey tells MTV News about the competition. By Kara Warner, with reporting by Eric Ditzian “Eclipse” cast at the 2011 MTV Movie Awards Photo: Jeff Kravitz/ WireImage Another Movie Awards , another super-dominating victory by Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson, Taylor Lautner and company for “The Twilight Saga.” “Eclipse,” the third installment of the blockbuster franchise, took home five Golden Popcorn trophies at Sunday’s show. MTV News caught up with a few members of the wolf pack, as well as Jasper Hale, after their final big win for Best Movie, and they expressed genuine surprise and lots of gratitude about how many awards the third “Twilight” film had racked up. “I think ‘Harry Potter’ was definitely a contender tonight,” Tinsel Korey said of perhaps their biggest competition in the Best Movie category. “I think some of us were a little bit nervous, but we have great fans and they’re dedicated.” “I thought ‘Inception’ would have taken it,” Kiowa Gordon admitted. “Same here,” Booboo Stewart agreed. ‘I thought ‘Inception’ was going to win, [especially] Best Fight and all that.” “It’s a crazy popularity contest thing,” Alex Meraz added. “But I’m very happy we’re on the winning side of it. The fans have been fantastic throughout all of this; it’s been a good ride.” Meraz went on to say that if their winning streak continues into next year, MTV might have to build a bigger stage to hold all of the castmembers. “Next year it’s going to be crazier because there’s a lot more cast, so if ‘The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1’ is the best film next year, you’re going to be seeing 60 people up on that stage.” “It’s always a pleasure and an honor to show up to the MTV Movie Awards, to have the fans vote and say what their favorites are,” Jackson Rathbone, who plays vampire Jasper Hale, pointed out. “We were up against some hard-hitters today but hey, we came out on top. It was very exciting, a great show,” he said, before giving a few props to the evening’s musical acts. “The Foo Fighters killed it ; I had a great time,” Rathbone said. “Lupe Fiasco rocked.” Do you think “Twilight” will dominate next year’s awards show? ‘Breaking Dawn’ Trailer: Best Fan Squeals And Sighs

Twilighters recorded their reactions to the teaser, and we picked our faves. By Kara Warner Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson in the “Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1” trailer Photo: Summit Entertainment At the 2011 MTV Movie Awards on Sunday night, Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart and Taylor Lautner presented the first look at the trailer for “The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1.” Knowing what a fan frenzy the first teaser would create, we asked our dedicated viewers and readers to record and upload their squeal-tastic “Breaking Dawn” reactions to Your.MTV.com , and promised that the top videos would air on MTV’s ” The Seven ” on Monday (June 6). Naturally, you did not disappoint. The winning video is, as expected, chock-full of all the things we’ve come to know and love from the most die-hard “Twilight” fans: girlish squeals and gasps of delight, jumping up and down, sighs and swoons all over the place. It is filled with such genuine adoration and emotion, it’s almost impossible not to be charmed by the two adorable young ladies from Denmark, who posted their video with the user name AgneteFlygerHansen . (CHECK OUT PHOTOS OF THE “TWILIGHT” CAST’S BIG MOVIE AWARDS NIGHT.) In addition to the delighted Danes, Sophia from Hawaii sent in her less vocal but equally intense reaction, followed by Jessika from Tennessee, who tried to control her excited screams by reacting silently. She puts her hands in front of her face, jumps up and down a bit, giddily, but keeps herself from going from silent, shaky glee to full-on screaming. Finally, there is AisyDaisyLady in Michigan, who also practices some of the quiet restraint Jessika did, but in doing so, comes closer to shedding more tears of joy than her fellow submitters. The reactions don’t stop there. We also solicited expert opinions from a few of the most devoted and trusted fan sites . “I am blown away. I can’t believe they showed as much as they did,” Kara Hassell of TwilightersAnonymous.com gushed. “I’m so excited. I didn’t think they would hit as many points as they did. I am very pleased with Bill Condon and how he treated it.” “Completely amazing, completely mind-blowing. Up until this, my favorite trailer was the ‘New Moon’ trailer, and Bill Condon definitely got Chris Weitz; it’s got everything in it that you need,” said Laura Byrne-Cristiano of TwilightLexicon.com . “That’s pretty steamy for a PG-13 movie,” she added. “The thing that made me laugh in a good way right away was Rob Pattinson gripping that headboard, and hearing that crack noise is spectacular.” “The trailer was fantastic,” Kallie Matthews from TwilightSeriesTheories.com weighed in. “It had way more than I thought it would, but it still just wasn’t quite enough. … I was so excited that they had Bella pregnant. The fans are excited about that and we got to see it. I am thrilled; can’t wait to see the next.” MTV News has all of the highlights from the 2011 MTV Movie Awards .
