Twilight Stars Will Make AT LEAST $25 Million Doing Some Weird, Weird Things

I know I previously begged for a little pity on behalf of poor, beleaguered Robert Pattinson, but consider my mercy at an end. Vulture is reporting that all three Twilight stars — that’s Pattinson, Kristin Stewart, and passionate wolfboy Taylor Lautner for those of you just returning from a cave on Mars — are set to pull in a record payday for the bifurcated last chapter of the Twilight saga.

Michael Musto’s Man on the Street: Investgating Eclipse

Last week, our Michael Musto had a hell of a time finding people who paid money to see Knight and Day , but you can trust that for The Twilight Saga: Eclipse (with its massive, record-breaking haul ), his mission was a little easier. One alarming discovery: the fanbase for Team Jacob has swelled enormously, while the Team Edward ranks can claim few besides a lascivious cougar in a straw hat. Check out his findings below:

Kristen Stewart Preparing Her Next Apology

“I don’t feel very comfortable on the red carpet,” Kristen Stewart recently told Hello! What else is new? Oh: “I look out there at a thousand people and I realize they could rush me and assassinate me. No security could protect me. Ostensibly they’re fans, but I think about them turning on me.” Sigh. On the bright side, at least she has a year off to get the next press tour right. Or get better security. [ PopEater ]

Eclipse Keeps Record-Setting Pace, The Last Airbender Does Not

After grossing a record-setting $30 million from midnight screenings, you didn’t need to be Nostradamus to realize that The Twilight Saga: Eclipse was going to smash some records over July 4th weekend. And so down goes the first one: Buoyed by those midnight showings, Eclipse banked $68.5 million on Wednesday, besting the gross of Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen for biggest Wednesday in box office history. That wasn’t enough to top the $72 million opening day record held by New Moon , but it doesn’t sound like anyone is complaining. Except maybe Paramount and one Manoj Night Shyamalan.

REVIEW: A Few Nifty Visuals Can’t Rescue Exhausting Last Airbender

The Last Airbender is, as M. Night Shyamalan movies go, pretty straightforward. It’s also, refreshingly, not as completely idiotic as most of his movies are. No aliens in stretchy unitards who can be vanquished by — surprise! — plain old tap water; no meek, modest 19th-century communities who are — surprise! — really just weirdo cults being kept away from 21st-century life. The Last Airbender, based on a popular Nickelodeon cartoon series, is a fantasy-adventure aimed primarily at kids, set in a world where four tribal nations — Air, Water, Earth and Fire — just can’t get along, because a revered being known as the Avatar has skipped out on them some 100 years ago. Taking advantage of this international instability, the people of the Fire Nation have decided to bully the other guys into submission and thus take over the world. Oh where, oh where, could the Avatar be?

The Let Me In Trailer: Chloe Moretz Sucks… Blood

Fans of the original Let the Right One In — of which there are many around the Internet — were justifiably upset when they heard that Tomas Alfredson’s beloved and moody adaptation of John Ajvide Lindqvist’s novel was being remade for American audiences with Matt Reeves (a.k.a. the guy who did Cloverfield ) as the director. But the international trailer for Let Me In — America likes short titles! — has arrived and it confirms two things: Reeves was very, very faithful to Alfredson’s original, and Kick-Ass star Chloe Moretz does, in fact, kick ass.

Late Night Highlights: Julianne Moore’s Masturbation Story and Kristen Stewart’s Dad

After a night off from the late night circuit , the cast of Eclipse returned last night in top form. Kristen Stewart appealed to George Lopez’s audience with tales of her Mexican cuisine, Peter Facinelli debuted behind-the-scenes footage of one of his Twilight stunts and elsewhere, totally unrelated to the vampire franchise, Julianne Moore shared a story about “choking the chicken.” Really. Click through for those segments as well as the other highlights you missed last night while mourning Party Down .

Eclipse Breaks Box Office Record for Midnight Showings

Eclipse is the best Twilight Saga film to date. Perhaps this helped the movie set a box office record early this morning, but we have a feeling it would have done quite well even without THG’s glowing review . The third film in this franchise broke the second film’s record haul for midnight showings today, as Eclipse pulled in a whopping $30 million across 4,416 screens nationwide. That figure also marks the widest release of all-time, bumping Iron Man 2 down a notch. New Moon grossed close to $300 domestically during its run, while the original Twlight topped out at $193 million. Expect Eclipse to sky-rocket past both those numbers. Just how huge has the Twilight Saga become? In an incident both depressing and hilarious, Elena Kagan was asked about t during her Supreme Court confirmation hearings today. As you can see below, she refrained from commenting on her affiliation with Team Jacob or Team Edward. Elena Kagan on Eclipse

Elena Kagan Grilled on Critical Judicial Matter of Edward vs. Jacob

In her confirmation hearings this week, Supreme Court hopeful Elena Kagan has presented herself as an even-handed and experienced arbiter of our nation’s Constitution. And while we may know slightly more about her judicial point of view on such delicate social issues as abortion and gay marriage, only today did Kagan face the most important, polarizing question to date: Team Jacob or Team Edward? Video after the jump.
