Preciousness: Steph Curry Gifts Sneakers To A 9-Year-Old Girl Who Wrote Him A Letter

Source: Gene Sweeney Jr. / Getty Stephen Curry Gives A Young Girl Sneakers After Reading Her Letter Back in November, a man by the name of Chris Morrison shared a letter on his Twitter page, which was written by his 9-year old daughter Riley. In said letter, she asked  Stephen Curry  why the smaller sizes of his sneakers were specifically labeled boys’ on Under Armour’s website: “I hope you can work with Under Armour to change this, because girls want to rock the Curry 5s too,” she wrote. @EmmaWatson Hi Emma, I know you are a big advocate for women. I was hoping you could retweet my daughter’s letter to @StephenCurry30 . This is her small way of making a difference and speaking up for women. You are a role model for her. We both would be very thankful. pic.twitter.com/mYNRtPMXP0 — Chris Morrison (@Morn24) November 21, 2018 After he was made aware of the letter, Curry swiftly responded with a note of his own, promising Riley that he would not only work on changing the way his Under Armour sneakers were labeled, but also that he’d make sure she was among the first kids with pairs of his newest signature sneaker, the Under Armour Curry 6. He also told the 9-year-old that him and the Under Armour team are working on something special for International Women’s Day, and that Riley should plan on being in Oakland that night to celebrate. Appreciate you helping us get better Riley! We got you. #MoreToCome pic.twitter.com/UBoTklvwhg — Stephen Curry (@StephenCurry30) November 29, 2018 Riley’s dad posted a video on Christmas of his daughter opening up the sneakers from Steph, and better yet, Curry’s shoes are now listed under the men’s, women’s, boys’ and girls’ sections on Under Armour’s website.

Meghan McCain Mourns Father on Twitter, Gets Trolled by Morons

Just a few months ago, Meghan McCain beautifully eulogized her father , the late Senator John McCain. She just experienced Christmas without her dad for the first time in her life, and shared a short, sweet post on the subject. Now, she’s having to defend herself against trolls who think that grief should be bottled up and never spoken aloud. “I love you,” Meghan McCain wrote in a tweet that paid tribute to her dearly departed father, John McCain. She included a photo of the late Senator operating an outdoor grill. “Merry Christmas dad,” she continued, including his Twitter handle. She concluded her tweet with: “Wherever you are.” The first holiday without a close loved one is incredibly difficult. We’re sure that Meghan felt a full swing of emotions when she uploaded that photo. Tweets are short by their very nature, but writing even just a few words about a recently passed loved one can bring those emotions to the surface. More than anything else, she would have felt grief as she wrote it. Unfortunately, one person sent her a very vile reply. A Twitter account from some nightmarish person whose pinned tweet is by Sebastian Gorka made an absurd demand of Meghan. “Do this in private,” the troll told her. Meghan quoted the troll’s tweet with a message of her own. “If there’s one thing I’m doing in 2019,” Meghan vows. “It’s to continue to destigmatize talking about grief, death, and cancer.” Pretending that your loved one never died doesn’t do you any good, and it makes your loved ones walk on eggshells. “My father shared his life in public,” Meghan affirmed. She continued: “I share it in death.” Meghan continued her tweet, directing her message at many of her followers. “To all of you out there missing a loved one tonight,” she wrote. “You are not alone.” Whether you lost a close loved one a month ago, a year ago, or a decade ago, you can’t  “I’m along side you,” Meghan concludes. “Sending strength.” That is a very kind, very affirming message. “An honorable mission, Meghan,” replies one fan. “My husband died of pancreatic cancer at the age of 46.” “Grieving in private is convenient only for those who aren’t grieving,” the same fan affirms. That is profound and extremely true. “We share joy,” the fan notes. “Why not share sadness?” “These are feelings we all experience at some point,” the tweet reasons. The follower concludes: “I send love and strength your way.” “Bless you Meghan,” writes another fan. The follower acknowledges: “I know this Christmas will be especially difficult for you [and] your family.” “I lost my dear Father 5 years ago,” the fan reveals. “Not a day goes by that I do not think of him.” “But,” the follower notes. “I am so very grateful for the time he was with us.” “Merry Christmas to you and yours,” that fan concludes. As positive as those replies were, that troll was not the only terrible person on Twitter. “I agree 100%,” replied one hater who agreed with the grief-shamer. “People seem to have this need to publicize and document every thought online,” the tweet concluded. “I agree,” chimed in another Twitter clown. “Acting like she’s the first and Only one to lose a family member.” That tweet concluded: “All six of mine gone.” Obviously, Meghan McCain is a public figure. If she had not given her late father a public shout-out, people would have shamed her for “forgetting” her dad. Also, social media exists for people to document their thoughts and experiences online. It’s not supposed to be a cesspool of animosity. And she very clearly is not acitng like she’s the only one to lose a family member. At all. Maybe that person’s personal losses have made them touchy on the subject, but that’s not an excuse. Ultimately, it seems clear that Meghan’s critics were politically motivated. She is not a fan of Trump, which causes some of his fans to view her as a “traitor” to conservatives. Meghan McCain loves and misses her father. Leave her be. C’mon Son: An Old Clip Of Chris Rock Encouraging Louis C.K. To Say The N-Word Has Twitter In A Tizzy

Source: E. Charbonneau / Getty Chris Rock Is Getting Crucified Online For This Old Clip Chris Rock  was Twitter’s number one trending topic on Saturday night, but it’s not exactly something to be proud of. The comedian became the talk of Twitter and the internet as a whole after a 2011 clip of HBO’s  Talking Funny  resurfaced. In the video, Chris Rock is joined by fellow comedians Ricky Gervais, Louis C.K. and Jerry Seinfeld, who all end up discussing the use of the “N-word.” Things escalate quickly as both Gervais and C.K. start to casually throw around the racial slur without a care in the world, as Rock joins in and laughs along with them. This literally made my skin crawl. The fact a white man has to be the voice of reason on racial sensitivity, in the same room Chris Rock is in…. Speaks volumes pic.twitter.com/uVgB7Loeq1 — Krew Season (@AskTrillAC) December 22, 2018 The clip and subsequent discussion start after Rock announces to the room that Louis C.K. is “the blackest white guy” he knows. C.K. responds by asking Rock, “You’re saying I’m a n****r?” “Yes,” Rock replies. “You are the n****r-est white man I have ever [met].” Gervais is clearly entertained by the whole exchange as Chris and Louis explode with laughter, but Seinfeld is visibly uncomfortable the entire time and ends up speaking out against the situation. After vocalizing that he doesn’t think Louis should say that word, Jerry said, “You’ve found the humor of it,” he says. “I haven’t — nor do I seek it.” As we mentioned before, this was the number one topic on Twitter this weekend, and the reactions were pretty unanimous: Jerry Seinfeld being the voice of reason while Chris Rock encourages his white peers to spew the N-word is absolutely insane. Seinfeld is still being praised while the 3 other comedians continue to be roasted relentlessly–especially Chris Rock. Check out the reactions to this recently resurfaced clip by flipping through the next few pages. This literally made my skin crawl. The Voice Accused of Racism, Rigging Season 15 Winner

As you may recall from our The Voice finale recap , the Season 15 winner was nothing if not a controversial choice. (Just a head's up: the tweets we've harvested from the internet definitely contain spoilers on that front) The fact that the contestants who had been hitting it out of the park week after week were suddenly falling behind struck viewers as odd. Some suspected a conspiracy — rigging — at the network. Others suspected that racism was responsible. Some thought that it was both. It's clear that Twitter would have chosen a very different winner than The Voice did. And a lot of folks are so upset that they've vowed to never again allow the NBC competition series to darken their screens. 1. The Voice announced its Season 15 winner … Chevel Shepherd, a white teenage yodeler, won. Viewers could not believe their eyes or ears. 2. Even Sunny Hostin couldn’t contain her shock Some would say that this is the most in-touch with Americans that any The View host has been in a while. 3. The results were difficult to miss A lot of people felt that, consciously or unconsciously, The Voice’s winners won because of their race. 4. Others washed their hands of the show A lot of people vowed to stop watching The Voice. We’ll see how many stick to that promise. 5. Did the audience’s votes even count? A lot of reality competitions are “rigged” in that the show will maneuver some contestants to stay longer. It sounds like people think that The Voice is straight-up lying about caring about the audience’s votes, which is another matter entirely. 6. Conspiracy theory or hard truth? Racism is alive and well in America. Did it play a role in handing Chevel an undeserved victory? View Slideshow

Netflix Subscribers Furious As Streaming Service Tests New “Garbage” Instant Replay Feature

Source: SOPA Images / Getty As the weather gets colder, online streaming services like Netflix become increasingly important. People are spending a lot more time inside, whether alone or with their loved ones, and I don’t know about your home—but in mine, TV is usually the go-to activity. So, you can understand why some people are having intense reactions to Netflix suddenly deciding to test a new feature on the app…even if it’s not affecting that many shows. In a message to the Los Angeles Times, Netflix confirmed that it’s trying out a new “Instant Replay” button. It’s pretty self-explanatory—viewers are asked if they want to replay a scene they just watched. Sadly, people aren’t here for it. From the L.A. Times : The pop-up feature appears on screen after certain scenes and is available only on a selection of the service’s vast library of original and licensed content. The Los Gatos, Calif.-based digital streaming giant confirmed that it is trying out the feature but added that it hasn’t decided whether it will become a permanent user capability. Netflix didn’t say much, except that the testing will serve as a learning experience: “We’re trying out a feature which gives Netflix members the ability to rewatch favorite scenes and memorable moments with the click of a button,” said a Netflix spokesperson. “Right now we’re just looking to learn from it and may or may not roll it out more broadly in the future.” See how people have been reacting on the flip…folks are so mad that it’s actually kind of hilarious.

Ebro Catches Heat & Issa Rae Makes Boss Moves: This Week’s Winners & Losers

Source: Gary Gershoff / Getty It was a win for Black people and people of color in the media this week with unique perspectives headed for the big screen! However, it was also a week of dreaded Twitter drama when one radio host decided not to ignore a serious subject. Check out the W’s below, then hit the next page to find out who lost in the Twitter battle. Winners Issa Rae Source: Craig Barritt / Getty In the last couple of years, the T.V. and movie industry has made huge strides in bringing diversity to the media. Movies like Black Panther and Get Out are the most immediate examples of Black people being in front of and behind the camera. However, history has taught us that the “Black fad” can be here today and gone tomorrow. One decade it might be sitcoms, the next it might be romantic comedies, and then, Hollywood can decide they’re done with the Blacks. Well Issa Rae is one of the people making sure this doesn’t happen thanks to an epic deal she signed with Columbia. According to  Variety , Issa’s production company, ColorCreative, has signed a multi-picture production deal that will allow the company to back projects from emerging diverse screenwriters. Certain writers will be announced in the spring of 2019 to work with Rae and ColorCreative to develop and write movies based on their original stories.   This is a huge move considering Black content that makes it to the big screen isn’t always original (e.g.  Black Panther, 12 Years A Slave, The Color Purple , etc.). With more original ideas, more diverse stories are sure to come that show the vastness of Black people and communities of color. If the flicks do well, they can also set the tone for more diverse films for years to come. “All of the projects we are working on are fresh and promising and we can’t wait to continue the work,” Issa said in a statement. “We hope to set a precedent and inspire the industry at large to invest in undiscovered talent, original IP, and fresh stories and perspectives.” Win, win, win.

Eliza Dushku Accuses Michael Weatherly of Sexual Harassment

Early this year, Eliza Dushku shared that she was molested at age 12 on the set of True Lies. It was a heartbreaking #MeToo story. What she did not share, because she had signed a confidentiality agreement, was something less awful but much more recent. Eliza was paid $9.5 million by CBS after she reported Michael Weatherly’s sexual harassment on the set of Bull . The New York Times reports that Dushku was paid $9.5 million in a secret settlement by CBS. Eliza joined the cast of Bull , a show that really exists about Dr. Phil, as a guest star whom they planned to make a series regular. The Buffy and Dollhouse alum quickly reported disturbing and outrageously inappropriate comments made by the show’s lead actor. Weatherly, best known for his roles on NCIS and Dark Angel , apparently made a series of not-safe-for-work (and not-safe-for-anywhere) comments. Eliza reported the sexual harassment … and quickly found herself written off of the series. Michael Weatherly made a rape joke, suggested a threesome, and made other comments of an overtly sexual nature to and about Eliza. According to the report obtained by the Times , Eliza laid out the incidents of sexual harassment. She reported that she made a gesture with three fingers, which prompted Michael to suggest that the two of them engage in a threesome with another cast member. She says that he would make comments — so apparently this happened multiple times — about bending her over his knee and spanking her. Gross, dude. Eliza also reported that he referred to a scene filmed at a windowless van and referred to it as a “rape van.” That last could have been a poor attempt at acknolwedging the creepiness of a windowless van, but it is not appropriate for a workplace. Though Eliza has not officially commented on the story, Michael did speak to the Times on the subject. “During the course of taping our show,” Michael says in his statement. “I made some jokes mocking some lines in the script.” “When Eliza told me that she wasn’t comfortable with my language and attempt at humor, I was mortified to have offended her and immediately apologized,” he says. “After reflecting on this further,” Michael adds. “I better understand that what I said was both not funny and not appropriate.”: “And I am sorry and regret the pain this caused Eliza,” Michael concludes. An apology is better than nothing. Sometimes, people need to unlearn bad behavior. Eliza did receive the $9.5 million settlement, said to be what she would have been paid as a castmember for four season of  Bull . In exchange, she had to keep quiet about the sexual harassment and the circumstances of her being written off of the show. According to the draft of the investigation report, this case exemplifies one of a number of problems at CBS. That’s no surprise. In a professional environment where reports of a man’s sexual harassment lead to a woman being written off of a show, things are not good. There is hope that, with the ousting of Les Moonves, CBS can undo decades of damage. In a statement to People , CBS acknowledges that this is far from their finest moment as a network. “While we remain committed to a culture defined by a safe, inclusive, and respectful workplace, our work is far from done,” the statement reads. “The settlement of these claims,” CBS explains. “Reflects the projected amount that Ms. Dushku would have received for the balance of her contract as a series regular.” “And,” the statement says, the amount “was determined in a mutually agreed upon mediation process at the time.” Getting paid without doing the work may sound like a good deal, but it doesn’t help your resume or face-recognition. And no one should have to endure workplace sexual harassment. View Slideshow: #MeToo: Stars Share Stories of Sexual Harassment, Assault

Ariana Grande to Kanye West: Grow Up and Get Off Twitter!

So you know how Kanye West enjoys expressing his thoughts and feelings on Twitter? It seems that yesterday, he had just a great big mess of them. Because, OK, Kanye hates Drake , right? And this is for a lot of reasons. Earlier this year, Kanye produced an album for Pusha-T, and on the album, Pusha said some not-so-nice things about Drake. Drake retaliated by saying some equally unkind things about both men in a song of his own. After that, Pusha released another song in which he let everyone knew that Drake had that kid that he’d been keeping secret . A few months later, Drake slammed Kanye in yet another song. And after all that, Kanye got a text yesterday from one of Drake’s producers asking for permission to sample one of his songs. That’s when things got really bad. Kanye tweeted a screenshot of the text and then went off … for a very, very long time. The gist of it all was that he’s been waiting on an apology from Drake for going after him when he wasn’t even the one who told Pusha about his secret son. After the first part of the rant, he said that Drake did call to apologize, but just a few hours later, he claimed that “Drake called trying to threaten me.” We can’t even begin to break down everything he said — he seriously tweeted for hours and hours — but he did seem to take the threat seriously. “Drake if anything happens to me or anyone from my family you are the first suspect,” he wrote. He said that he made it possible for Drake to be successful because “I’m the guy with the pink polo that made a way for him.” But now he’s “so street” that he picks on “people with mental health issues” — he did explain that since he’s bipolar, issues like these can make him “ramped.” Kanye begged Drake to “please take the devil up out you” and to stop playing games and just have a real conversation about everything with him. He really did go on for so long. So, so long. And Ariana Grande was not having it. See, last night Ariana was planning on dropping a new song, “Imagine,” and she did, but she was on Twitter for a few hours before to talk with her fans and promote the release. The problem was that so many people were talking about everything that Kanye was saying that it was kind of sucking up all the attention. So she tweeted this: “Guys, i know there are grown men arguing online rn but miley and i dropping our beautiful, new songs tonight so if y’all could please jus behave for just like a few hours so the girls can shine that’d be so sick thank u.” Honestly, a lot of people didn’t appreciate the comment — some thought it was a silly cry for attention, others thought Kanye’s claims about death threats were more interesting and important. But Miley was down for Ariana’s plea! She retweeted it and added “Didn’t they hear the news?! War IS over! Thank you, next!” Because the song she released last night is called “War is Over,” get it? Unfortunately, Kanye didn’t listen, and he went on for a while after that about how important he’s been for “sneakers fashion music everything” and about how positive vibes are desperately needed. Jenelle Evans: A Brief History of Violence and Nonsense

If there's one thing we know about Jenelle Evans of Teen Mom 2 fame, it's that she never backs down from a confrontation. Sometimes this means a war of words, other times actual violence against those who cross the Carolina Hurricane's path. Below, we've taken a trip down memory lane and relived some of her most turbulent, and violent, moments over the years. Boyfriends, husbands, girlfriends, random people talking s–t … her own mom … no one is safe when it comes to Jenelle. No one. 1. Jenelle Beats the Ever-Loving Crap Out of Britany Truett Savage. Evans was caught on video absolutely annihilating Britany Truett in Oak Branch, N.C., in 2011. She was later arrested after the video surfaced and charged with assault. Deservedly so, given the extent of this beat down. Truett says Jenelle came at her in a fit of jealousy after Evans’ sometime boyfriend Kieffer Delp was flirting with Truett; Delp was arrested the same day as the fight for cocaine possession. 2. Jenelle’s Classic Fight with Tori Rhyne Jenelle Evans has managed to keep one friend for the majority of her time on Teen Mom 2: a girl named Tori Rhyne. But that relationship soon soured, and things were not always great between them even in the best of times. Witness the INSANE, hair-pulling melee that occurred in this infamous scene during which Jenelle was moving out of the residence they shared … Kieffah and Tori’s BF also got in on the action. 3. Jenelle’s Classic Fight with Barbara: I SEE YOU WIFF KIEFFAH! Jenelle Evans and her mother, Barbara, got into a shocking, iconic fight in the first season of Teen Mom 2. This is that fight. Any fan of the show has likely repeated Babs’ quotes from this scene in the years since: I SEE YOU WIFF KIEFFAH! I hope you have fun livin’ in the streets with ya booooooooyfriend! 4. Jenelle Wishes Death Upon an American Soldier Jenelle Evans got into a pretty heated argument during a trip with Nathan Griffith three years ago – a trip meant to celebrate their engagement, believe it or not – and appears to wish death on a U.S. soldier in the process of yelling at him. As the person filming this says, that is some f–ked up s–t right there. 5. Jenelle Evans-David Eason Wedding Fight Long-rumored but never before heard, it’s Teen Mom 2’s Jenelle Evans & David Eason’s explosive pre-wedding fight!!! Crank up the volume and hear them yell at each other like mortal enemies the night before they tied the knot; Jenelle called off the wedding, briefly, but they did go through with it. Dave sounds pretty livid with her at one point. 6. Jenelle vs. Kieffah The mercurial Jenelle Evans and her useless ex-boyfriend Kieffer Delp in more memorable scenes together from Teen Mom 2, 2010-2013. She sure has been with a cast of unsavory characters over the years, but Kieffah may be the most memorable. Not in a good way, just the most memorable. View Slideshow

Kevin Hart: I May Be Homophobic, But I’m Still Popular!

Kevin Hart out as host of the 2019 Academy Awards . As you’ve likely read by now, the comedian stepped down from this post after a series of homophobic Tweets and jokes from 2010 surfaced online. Hart could have apologized. He could have explained that these were just failed attempts at humor and he’s learned and grown since and understands why they were offensive. But he did neither of these things. Instead, Hart went on the offensive, lashing out on Instagram as follows: “Stop looking for reasons to be negative,” he initially wrote on Instagram in response to this scandal. “If u want to search my history or past and anger yourselves with what u find that is fine with me,” he continued. “You LIVE and YOU LEARN & YOU GROW & YOU MATURE. Please take your negative energy and put it into something constructive.” As you can see below, Hart simply got crazy defensive over the notion that he owed anyone a mea culpa. Hours later, Hart resigned as Oscars host because he claimed organizers asked him to apologize — and, still, he refused. “I chose to pass, I passed on the apology. The reason why I passed is because I’ve addressed this several times,” he explained, adding in stupid detail: This is not the first time this has come up. I’ve addressed it, I’ve spoken on it. I’ve said where the rights and wrongs were. I’ve said who I am now versus who I was then. I’ve done it, I’ve done it. I’m not going to continue to go back and tap into the days of old. I’ve moved on, I’m in a completely different space in my life. The same energy that went into finding those old tweets, could be the same energy put into finding the response to the questions that have been asked years after years after years. We feed internet trolls and reward them. I’m not going to do it, man. I’m going to be me, and I’m going to stand my ground. Regardless, to the Academy, I’m thankful and appreciative of the opportunity. If it goes away, no harm, no foul. Fast forward a short while later, likely aware that his career was likely at stake, Hart DID apologize. “I’m sorry that I hurt people,” he Tweeted. “I am evolving and want to continue to do so. My goal is to bring people together not tear us apart.  Much love & appreciation to the Academy. I hope we can meet again.” Fair enough, we guess, right? It is worth noting, however, that one of Hart’s controversial so-called jokes said that, were his son to play with his daughter’s dollhouse, the star would “break it over his head & say n my voice ‘stop that’s gay.’ Ummm… LOL? But anyway. After claiming to be very sorry, Hart again took to Twitter and invoked Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. “The ultimate measure of a man is not where he stands in moments of comfort and convenience, but where he stands at times of challenge and controversy,” wrote Hart, quoting King. Don’t you just love it when someone compares a scandal of his own doing to the civil rights movement? Hart then thanked his supporters on Instagram Stories, as well, before taking the stage in Sydney. “Still selling tickets, 32,000 and counting,” he said. “I love you all.” Unless you’re gay, Hart meant to add. In a clip form his 2010 comedy special Seriously Funny, Hart says: “One of my biggest fears is my son growing up and being gay. That’s a fear. Keep in mind, I’m not homophobic. Be happy. Do what you want to do. “But me, as a heterosexual male, if I can prevent my son from being gay, I will.” Know that that is called, Kevin Hart? That’s called being homophobic.
