Preciousness: Steph Curry Gifts Sneakers To A 9-Year-Old Girl Who Wrote Him A Letter

Source: Gene Sweeney Jr. / Getty Stephen Curry Gives A Young Girl Sneakers After Reading Her Letter Back in November, a man by the name of Chris Morrison shared a letter on his Twitter page, which was written by his 9-year old daughter Riley. In said letter, she asked  Stephen Curry  why the smaller sizes of his sneakers were specifically labeled boys’ on Under Armour’s website: “I hope you can work with Under Armour to change this, because girls want to rock the Curry 5s too,” she wrote. @EmmaWatson Hi Emma, I know you are a big advocate for women. I was hoping you could retweet my daughter’s letter to @StephenCurry30 . This is her small way of making a difference and speaking up for women. You are a role model for her. We both would be very thankful. pic.twitter.com/mYNRtPMXP0 — Chris Morrison (@Morn24) November 21, 2018 After he was made aware of the letter, Curry swiftly responded with a note of his own, promising Riley that he would not only work on changing the way his Under Armour sneakers were labeled, but also that he’d make sure she was among the first kids with pairs of his newest signature sneaker, the Under Armour Curry 6. He also told the 9-year-old that him and the Under Armour team are working on something special for International Women’s Day, and that Riley should plan on being in Oakland that night to celebrate. Appreciate you helping us get better Riley! We got you. #MoreToCome pic.twitter.com/UBoTklvwhg — Stephen Curry (@StephenCurry30) November 29, 2018 Riley’s dad posted a video on Christmas of his daughter opening up the sneakers from Steph, and better yet, Curry’s shoes are now listed under the men’s, women’s, boys’ and girls’ sections on Under Armour’s website.

Nelly Says He’s Still Hip-Hop, Despite Crossover Success

‘I think you’d be an idiot to not do what works for you,’ Nelly tells MTV News of making hit records. By Rob Markman Nelly Photo: MTV News When Nelly first stepped on the scene in 2000, he was hip-hop to the core. There was no denying the street appeal the multiplatinum hitmaker displayed in his debut “Country Grammar” video wearing an oversize baseball cap, baggy jeans and backward football jersey. The St. Louis standout has exhibited a ton of growth in his 11-year career, and while his 2010 single “Just a Dream” shot to #1 on Billboard ‘s pop charts, it didn’t do much to bolster his hard-core rap cred — and that’s OK. Nelly is still in tune with his rap roots. He even presented LL Cool J with his I Am Hip Hop Icon Award at the 2011 BET Hip Hop Awards. “At the end of the day, I am urban, so you can’t run from that fact,” Nelly told MTV News as he walked the black carpet for the awards show. “At the end of the day, it’s another successful brother, stepping and breaking ground for the next brother to come along and do it.” The rhythmic “Just a Dream” was produced by Jim Jonsin and Rico Love, the same team that handled Kelly Rowland’s R&B hit “Motivation.” Still, it isn’t a different formula than the one used on his Patti LaBelle-sampled hit “Dilemma” in 2002. Nelly has always stretched the boundaries of hip-hop, maybe most exemplified on his country duet “Over and Over” with Tim McGraw. The hip-hop star didn’t reveal which musical direction he’d be going with his upcoming, yet-untitled seventh album, but it’s safe to assume he’ll do as he always has. Nelly is willing to let the chips fall where they may. “You do what works for you,” he said. “I think you’d be an idiot to not do what works for you. They don’t want me to be smart about it? They wanna see another dumb brother not succeeding because he tried to do something that wasn’t smart? That’s what they say about us: We don’t think first. Well, this brother thinking first. I plan on being here.” What are you expecting from Nelly’s new music? Let us know in the comments! Related Artists Nelly

By Rob Markman, with reporting by Sway Calloway Lil Wayne Photo: MTV News Lil Wayne may have extended his I Am Still Music Tour through the summer, but he isn’t going to stop there. “I actually plan on being one of those artists that can go on a tour when they’re like 40, like U2, Michael Jackson,” Lil Wayne told Sway during an interview after the taping of his “MTV2 Presents: Lil Wayne Unplugged.” With his upcoming Tha Carter IV set to drop August 24, Weezy added 40 more dates, creating a second leg of his I Am Still Music run. As it stands now, the tour will conclude on September 11 in Woodlands, Texas. This past weekend, the Young Money CEO played the Bonnaroo Music & Arts Festival in Manchester, Tennessee, and has no plans of slowing down. “I actually plan on being one of those artists, with all the music and all the work I’m putting out, I believe that later on down the line, I can do Vegas. I can be the first hip-hop artist to do Vegas every night. That’s the plan.” Fans got a televised taste of Weezy’s live show when Birdman Jr. performed for the cameras during his “Unplugged” special, which aired on MTV 2 on Sunday. Wayne rocked with a full band and ran through proven hits like “Fireman,” “A Milli” and “Lollipop,” as well as new favorites like “Nightmares of the Bottom” and “6 Foot, 7 Foot.” It isn’t all rap either. During his live shows, Wayne dips into his rock catalog, doing songs from his gold-selling Rebirth album as well. It’s his deep and diversified well of tunes that will ensure that Wayne never goes home, unless he chooses to do so. “I plan on touring forever, actually,” he said. “Probably when I’m like 50, I might be like, ‘Let’s go, gimme some dates.’ ” Related Videos MTV2 Presents Unplugged Lil Wayne MTV News Extended Play: Lil Wayne Related Photos MTV2 Presents Unplugged Lil Wayne Related Artists Lil Wayne
