I spent 2010 overdosing on late night television, obsessively cataloging network fat jokes (everyone goes through that phase, right?), toiling in a love/hate relationship with Grey’s Anatomy , Glee basing and interviewing entertainment figures who shifted American pop culture for good (Jimmy Fallon) and evil (Pauly Shore). As one of my final Movieline duties this calendar year, I will now revisit the 10 stories that brought a smile to my face and I hope, entertained or informed you.

This morning’s Golden Globe Awards nominations yielded the customary blend of class, starpower, snubs, and utter pay-to-play WTF -ery that we’re used to seeing every year from the Hollywood Foreign Press Association. But one particular film’s inclusion among the contenders has much of the world turning to combat when a deep breath would do just fine: It’s the Golden Globes, everybody! Be gone with your bazingas, because this is the real deal, folks: CBS’ The Big Bang Theory has collected its first-ever Golden Globe nomination in the Best Comedy category. Charlie Sheen ‘s plea deal won’t be keeping the star out of jail this time. A source close to the case says: “Charlie intends to go to court on June 7 [to] plead to a misdemeanor and immediately begin serving his 30 days in jail.

Charlie Sheen Is Back To Two and a Half Men

Charlie Harper is now returning to Two and a Half Men. The actor has agreed to return to the sitcom for two more years after publicly considering leaving the show. Sheen said in a statement “To put a fitting end on the two and one-half months of whirlwind speculation, I’m looking forward to returning to my CBS home on Monday nights.” His contract has expired last month and he also recently denied the reports regarding his salary negotiations for a new contract. Many viewers are expecting the CBS to officially announce Sheen and the show’s return just before unveiling its fall lineup to the advertisers t his Wednesday. And Jon Cryer breathes a sigh of relief. Despite publicly declaring that he wants to leave Two and a Half Men , sources are “cautiously optimistic” that star Charlie Sheen and CBS are on the verge of agreeing on a two-year extension, which is the same length of time that the network is committed to Chuck Lorre’s series. Sheen hopes to have this deal — and a plea deal with the Aspen prosecutors — completed by the CBS upfronts on May 19. [ Deadline ]
