Unstoppable Trailer: Denzel Washington and Chris Pine Try to Catch a Train

Literally. As in, there’s a runaway train loaded with hazardous materials on the loose — says co-star Rosario Dawson: “We’re not just talking about a train; we’re talking about a missile, the size of the Chrysler Building!” — and only Denzel and Capt. Fine can stop it.

Start the Saw 8 Rumor Mill

The Saw franchise’s producers confirmed at Comic-Con that Tyler Perry’s Saw VII : The Traps Come Alive 3D would indeed be the series’ last installment. Enter Saw mainstay Betsy Russell, who this week cheerfully overrode that statement. “Before we thought it was ending [with Saw 7 ], the writers came up with an unbelievable idea [for Saw 8 ],” Russell said. “It’s an amazing story that I would love to see. We want to end near the top, with our integrity intact and not letting the characters die a slow death, so to speak. But I believe in my heart that someday, somehow, [ Saw 8 ] will happen.” Fine — anything for more Tobin Bell interviews . [ NYP ]

Movieline has compiled its 10 favorite specials after the jump with the hope of honoring a format that deserves to stay relevant forever. Banjos and mic stands ready!

Tyler Perry Blames Rainbow Quitter Mariah Carey For Ruining Vacation, Mai Tai

Nothing warms the heart quite like a note from Tyler Perry to his fans, who this morning took a break from pursuing his credit-card hackers to get the lowdown on his sumptuous island getaway with an unnamed “very special friend.” (“We’re sunbathing and swimming, I’m flying my RC planes.”) A sumptuous island getaway which, by the way, Mariah Carey happened to cut short when she suddenly dropped out of his film For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Suicide When the Rainbow Is Enuf less than a week before shooting.

Tyler Perry Plots World Conquest

Everybody knows the real box-office money these days is in international, and so Tyler Perry jetted off to London over the weekend to begin laying the groundwork for a European insurgency. Prior to hosting a screening of Why Did I Get Married Too? with star Janet Jackson, Perry did TV interviews and met with fans, noting, “I heard there were people who had an appreciation of Tyler Perry stuff, and this is really cool to know.” Indeed! Those Brits will be stealing his credit card number before you know it. [ NYT ]
