Tyrese Rants Against Liquor Stores Near Schools, Booted Off Radio Show

Tyrese claims he was kicked out of a radio station in Delaware where he gave an interview yesterday because he ranted about liquor stores – in a positive way! Invited on the show to promote his album, Tyrese made a comment about how liquor stores should not be allowed near schools, having just seen such a case. “Get them cats out of here … selling alcohol across from your kids school, homie. You gotta know how to put pressure on dudes selling in your hood,” he said. But when the show went to commercial, Tyrese was asked to leave the building because the station said he was “disrespecting” the Delaware community. After the incident, Tyrese tweeted : “I just kicked out of a radio station frm a [program director] who had a problem w/ me speaking on liquor stores that are by elementary schools in Delaware.” “If you don’t STAND for something.. You will damn near fall for Anything.” Amen, homie.

Tyrese & Taraji Reunite For “Stay” [NEW VIDEO]

See the rest here:

Tyrese and Taraji P. Henson, his one-time onscreen girlfriend from “Baby Boy,” reunite for his latest video “Stay.” In the clip, Tyrese plays a boyfriend bogged down with work and Taraji his neglected woman. The final straw comes when he opts to go to a meeting instead of console her while upset. She finally decides to pack her bags, but he catches her before she’s gone for good and attempts to make his last (and final) plea for her to “stay.” But will she? The retro-inspired track is tinged with guitar-plucking, finger-snapping and old school “oohs” harmonizing in the background. We LOVE it. Tyrese’s “Open Invitation” Isn’t What You Are Expecting!

View post:

In a small office at the EMI building in NYC after being served sushi, dumplings and Sake, bloggers, press and media gathered to listen to Tyrese’s fifth album Open Invitation . The room, adorned with red candles centered on a black piano, gave off an intimate vibe. We huddled in close, some sitting on the floor and some lucky souls in chairs. Tyrese greeted us very personally asking that we do not record the music he was going to play for us, informing us that he had an incident the night before. With a half-empty glass in his possession, he introduced what he called “my proudest work to date.” We listened attentively as he filled us in on his journey back to music! “My mentor said something to me, back when I decided to give music a quick break, he said ‘If you want to make God laugh tell him your plan’.” Tyrese struck Box Office success with the “Transformers” series, “Fast & Furious” franchise and “Legion.” Though very profitable, music was calling Tyrese’s heart. “A revelation came to me, you got four weeks of nothing to do- which never happens. I got a hold of about 14 people, singers, songwriters and producers and I flew them in town. All brand new unestablished producers that I had never worked with specifically but I had worked with indirectly. I was like these are on the folks that are on the list that God sent me, they were all sleeping at my house. We banged out my whole album in four weeks. I had five different production stations set up throughout my house, it became like the old Motown, I called it R&B boot-camp” Tyrese has strayed from the love ballad/baby-making music maven we have come to love. He attributes his new musical focus on “Benjamin Button syndrome.” The new album is more upbeat and better fit for a cool night out on the town rather than the bedroom–which is exactly what he was going for. “If you listen to songs like “Lately,” I’m 32 now I can sing a song like that now, because I actually do know about love Ive been madly in love before.  I have a child but when your 20 years old singing ‘Have I told you I love you?’ it’s a very mature adult contemporary. When I had “Lately” out, Usher had “You Make Me Wanna.” He’s actually doing music his age. He’s in the video dancing, I’m [in the “Lately” video] in all white on the piano making out on some extra grown man sh*t. As soon as I leave the video[set] I’m like ‘man I don’t want to do this sh*t.’ Now that I’ve gotten older I know what I want to look like. I know what type of songs I want to sing. I know what type of songs that move me! My favorite of the tracks played was “I’m Home.” The hard-hitting but mid-tempo beat was the sexiest of the bunch . “ One Night” was very reminiscent of Trey Songz “Invented Sex,” which isn’t a bad thing! “Best In Me” was also a favorite, followed by his first single “I Got A Chick “ featuring Rick Ross and R.Kelly. His current single “Stay” follows the typical R&B rules but because of Tyrese’s strong vocals, is elevated to another level. Though I loved a few songs (so far) on “Open Invitation,” being the R&B fiend I am,  I was hoping for another “Lately” or “How You Gonna Act Like That.” Open Invitation doesn’t deliver that but does offer a more modern Tyrese with less the love. Tyrese Talks Marriages & Polygamy With “The Breakfast Club” [VIDEO]

View post:

Singer, actor and author, Tyrese, visited Power 105.1′s hit morning show, “The Breakfast Club” recently in promotion of his new movie, “Transformers 3″. During the interview, he opened up about his new album, being with one woman, being a “sex symbol”, being labeled a relationship expert and his come back to the music world. When asked if men should only be with one woman, Tyrese responded: “If you’re in that space go ahead and get it out your system.” When asked about polygamy, Tyrese responded: “Well, if a man is going to move like that, then I don’t really think it needs a title. It’s just you moving around. The title polygamy is just like a concept of you moving around. Just ‘do you’ but my thing is if you’re going to move around like that, get your pimpin’ right and at least give the girls a heads up because I think the dipping off five-six women simultaneously making them all think they’re the only one, that’s when people get fired up at the end.” When asked about if it was hard being married in Hollywood, Tyrese responded: “You know what I just think the timing is important and there was some other things behind my marriage I won’t speak on. It’s the timing of when you get married, it’s important because in the end, men will be men. We can find that main one we want to love and want to focus on but in the end if you ain’t got everything out of your system, your curiosity is going to lead to you moving around a little bit.” Check out the full interview in the video below and read more at Necolebitchie.com. Tyrese Pens Father’s Day Poem: “I’m Not Just Semen”

Continue reading here:

In honor of Father’s Day 2011, Tyrese has written a poem detailing his feelings about fatherhood; he compares boys to men, and likens himself to a hunter and a king. Read his words below! “On this day, we as fathers are celebrated around the world… I am more than just a man.. I am a father. A boy is excited about the opportunity to be a dad. A father is more focused on the “Responsibility” of being a father. As a father it is a responsibility to create the standards in our kids’ lives, I am not just semen. I love you, and you love me and in our family we created “we” in our children… I am power, I am intelligence, I am education, I am integrity, I am God fearing spirituality, I am consistent… As a father, sometimes I have to be away. I am constantly in the field hunting for my family’s survival. I am king therefore you are my queen. President Obama has created a new standard and removed every excuse a black man could ever have of NOT being a father… I am more than I appear to be, I am more than just a man. I….AM….FATHER!! Fathers… Even though it seems like your effort is sometimes overlooked, God is watching and he knows your heart. To all of the REAL FATHERS around the world.. Through good, bad or ugly relationships with the mother… If you are NOT there for your kids, it is ONLY the kids that suffer in the end. Take a stand and do any means necessary to be a part of your kids lives. God knows your heart… God bless all FATHERS around the WORLD for Father’s Day! Salute!!” Taraji & Tyrese Get White-Hot For Ebony’s Collector’s Edition Covers [PHOTOS] Tyrese: “It’s Expected Of Men To Cheat” Tyrese Gets His Christmas Wish, Spends Time With Daughter [VIDEO]
