John Doe #1 to John Travolta in Bizarre, Rambling Statement: Be Well!

The anonymous plaintiff in the John Travolta sexual battery lawsuit has released a bizarre, rambling statement to weigh in on the scandalous case. In it, the masseur, who alleges Travolta fondled him and offered sexual favors during a massage gone wrong, wishes the actor good health and happiness. Mostly, he criticizes the media for its handling of this subject and urges the public to let the courts, not celebrity gossip , make the final judgment. In addition to lamenting the “circus” surrounding the explosive allegations he personally made, Travolta’s accuser appears to reference claims made by the actor’s attorney about alleged evidence that disproves his claim. He also mentions the second accuser, also a masseur, who joined the lawsuit with allegations of similar sexual misconduct by Travolta. Excerpts from John Doe’s statement appear below: “As the unidentified masseur in the John Travolta case I have an opinion that I wanted to share.” “I don’t think anyone should form any opinion about Mr. Travolta, his family, his council, myself, [ the second accuser ], and our counsel. I would urge everyone to understand that guilt or innocence in our Justice System is decided by our court system.” “Too often these matters are decided by swaying public opinion through elements that would never be considered in an actual court case.” “For instance, a photograph, a restaurant receipt, testimony, and other things that may or may not constitute proof have strict guidelines that must be followed. A fine example is the amazing number of guilty people that escape their crimes due to the mishandling of evidence. Is it disappointing, of course it is, but it is a price we must pay in order to have a justice system that runs in a constitutional manner.” “Despite the circus that celebrity matters seem to spiral into, we should grant all parties involved a wait-and-see attitude, and wait for either the official decision of a judge and jury, or the possibility of a dignified discussion between people who are not pit bulls, or aces, or anything, but are actually officers of the court (lawyers) who have sworn an oath to protect the justice system from losing its blind lady of justice with scales and replacing her with the days of Salem Witch Hunts.” “Even though Mr. Travolta and his counsel are on opposing sides in this matter, I do wish them good health, happiness, and want them to be judged with absolute fairness as our great nation affords all citizens regardless of their wealth or station.” [Photo: WENN.com]

Rihanna On Mend After Flu-Related IV

After ‘Battleship’ star tweets photo of an IV in her arm, source says she had a fever and flu ‘but is fine now.’ By Kara Warner Rihanna Photo: Lester Cohen/ WireImage Celebrities: They’re just like us! Even the most famous pop stars catch the flu bug every now and then — at least, that’s what seems to have been ailing Rihanna recently. The 24-year-old singer issued a colorful complaint about feeling under the weather via Twitter over the weekend, and then surprised her 18 million followers with the photographic proof of her unidentified illness Tuesday with a Twit pic that showed RiRi in bed with an IV in her arm. According to People , a source close to Rihanna said the singer is on the mend and was not suffering from anything serious: “She had a fever and flu since last week and needed an IV, but is fine now.” Not that we’re qualified to offer a diagnosis here at MTV News, but judging from all the traveling, performing and promotion Rihanna has been involved in during the past month leading up to the release of her first movie, “Battleship,” as well as her performance on “SNL,” it seems likely the young woman was simply worn out. Here’s hoping she takes some actual time off for rest and relaxation. Meanwhile, we only have to wait a little while longer to see the “Where Have U Been” singer in her big-screen debut, a role that Rihanna said she relished because she got to be a total badass. “I wanted to do something badass, but I didn’t imagine it would be grungy, like straight Navy soldier, no makeup,” Rihanna said of her expectations for her first movie role. “I enjoyed it. “Battleship” opens May 18. James Franco Chalks Up Another Unconventional Side Hustle With Telenovela

Oscar nominee will appear on Nick at Nite’s ‘Hollywood Heights’ this summer. By Jocelyn Vena James Franco Photo: Neilson Barnard/ Getty Images At this point, few things James Franco does in his career surprise anyone. But his latest gig might be an exception. The Oscar-nominated actor has agreed to appear on the Nick at Nite telenovela “Hollywood Heights.” The gig was announced by the network on Wednesday, but further details about his appearance on the show were not released. The show will kick off in June, according to Vulture , and like any good telenovela, it will air five nights a week. Based on a Mexican soap opera, the show revolves around a shy girl who befriends a rock star (her crush) after winning a songwriting competition and ultimately becomes a pop star herself. This is the latest of many unusual side hustles the actor has acquired recently. Aside from attending college at several prestigious universities across the country over the last few years, the actor has also appeared several times on the small screen since he bid his role as Daniel Desario on “Freaks and Geeks” goodbye 12 years ago. He also appeared on the soap opera “General Hospital,” where he played an artist with mob ties. His character’s name? Simply, Franco. In 2011, he hosted the Academy Awards alongside Anne Hathaway. While he had been nominated for his work in “127 Hours” that year, his performance as the show’s host was met with mixed reviews. He also appeared on the NBC game show “Minute to Win It” along with Aron Ralston, whom he portrayed in “127 Hours.” They played to benefit a charity. He is a published author and a film critic and worked behind the lens on several projects, including 2011’s “Three’s Company: The Drama,” based on the hit sitcom from the 1970s, which was screened at Sundance that year. In addition to several multimedia projects, he shot music videos for R.E.M. for their tracks “Blue” and “That Someone Is You.” He also appeared in a music video for his own musical project, Kalup and Franco . While he pursues some of his more unusual side projects, he is also attached to several movies, including “Maladies,” “Lovelace,” “Oz: The Great and Powerful” and the currently in production “Spring Breakers,” with Selena Gomez and Vanessa Hudgens. Rutgers Student Dharun Ravi Found Guilty In CyberBullying Case

Ravi could get up to 10 years in jail for spying on his roommate, Tyler Clementi. By Gil Kaufman Tyler Clementi Photo: Facebook A jury found former Rutgers University student Dharun Ravi guilty of hate crimes and invasion of privacy on Friday (March 16), bringing to an end a case that helped spark a national debate on cyberbullying. Ravi was accused of setting up a webcam to spy on his roommate, Tyler Clementi , as Clementi engaged in a consensual sexual encounter with another man in the pair’s Rutgers dorm room. Clementi leaped to his death from the George Washington Bridge in New York three days after learning that Ravi viewed the encounter and, according to testimony, invited others to watch and discuss what he saw online. According to The New York Times, in addition to the hate crimes, the jury found Ravi guilty of tampering with evidence and witnesses because of his efforts to change Twitter and text messages in which he had encouraged others to watch the webcam footage. Ravi, 20, faced 15 counts of invasion of privacy, bias intimidation, tampering with evidence and a witness and hindering apprehension. The jury concluded that Ravi had not intended to intimidate Clementi on the first night that he secretly switched on the webcam to watch his roommate’s actions. But they concluded that Clementi had reason to believe that he was targeted because he was gay (based on the language in some of the texts), and on one count, the jury found that Ravi knew Clementi, 18, would feel intimidated by his actions. Because he was found guilty on at least one question of whether his actions rose to the level of bias discrimination, Ravi could face the maximum penalty of up to 10 years in jail and deportation to his native India. “These acts were purposeful, they were intentional and they were planned,” prosecutor Julia L. McClure told the jury on the first day of the trial, which lasted three weeks and concluded with two days of deliberation by the jury. Later in the trial, she told the jury that Ravi “was bothered by Tyler Clementi’s sexual orientation.” In a rare instance, almost none of the facts in the case were in dispute, as Ravi’s lawyers agreed that their client had set up the webcam and then gone to a friend’s room and viewed Clementi kissing the unidentified man. They also did not deny that Ravi sent Twitter and text messages to others describing what he’d seen and urging them to watch a second viewing. Ravi’s attorneys painted their client as an immature college student who acted thoughtlessly and made a mistake, but denied that he’d been spurred by homophobia. “He hasn’t lived long enough to have any experience with homosexuality or gays,” attorney Steven Altman said during closing arguments. “He doesn’t know anything about it. He just graduated high school.” Clementi’s suicide set off a national debate about bullying and intimidation of gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender youth the resulted in public messages of support from everyone from openly gay talk show host Ellen DeGeneres to singer Ciara, “America’s Next Top Model” personality Jay Manuel, President Obama, “One Tree Hill” actress Sophia Bush and “Harry Potter” star Daniel Radcliffe . ‘Super 8’ Exclusive Brings Us Closer To The Mystery

At the MTV Movie Awards, J.J. Abrams and Co. gave an exclusive peek at what triggers his flick’s chaotic chain of events. By Kara Warner Joel Courtney, Ryan Lee and Riley Griffiths in “Super 8” Photo: Paramount The masterfully mysterious marketing campaign behind J.J. Abrams’ would-be blockbuster “Super 8” — which has included teasers, the super8secret.com site, TV spots and other veiled preview pieces — will officially come to an end this Friday, when the film finally opens nationwide in theaters. Until then, however, we must turn your attention to one more bit of teasery: the exclusive extended “Super 8” clip that was presented during the 2011 MTV Movie Awards on Sunday (June 5). Introduced by none other than Abrams, executive producer Steven Spielberg, and stars Elle Fanning and Joel Courtney, this new footage takes us closer to the mystery than we’ve been able to get thus far. The spot opens with six kids (Fanning, Courtney, Riley Griffiths, Gabriel Basso, Ryan Lee and Zach Mills) in the middle of shooting their own movie at a train station, late at night. The sound of an oncoming train disrupts the scene, followed by the blaring of the train whistle, a shot of a truck speeding onto the track and colliding into the train, creating a chaotic explosion, which is captured by the super 8 camera that the kids were using to film their movie. This then sets into motion a series of action sequences, all pegged to the mystery of what prompted the train crash and what classified cargo may or may not have been onboard. There are eerie non-human sound effects, quick cuts of a small town in turmoil over a series of inexplicable events, explosions, military officials trying to decide how to destroy the certain something that is causing all the destruction, and our kid heroes caught up in the middle of it. So, wow. What does it all mean? For those who prefer not to dig too deep into trailers and teaser footage, we respect your willpower and desire to remain unspoiled. For those who’ve been analyzing every bit of tape since Abrams announced the film, do you have it figured out yet? What is this unidentified object that has sent this small town into an uproar and called military forces to action? Share your theories in the comments below! Former ‘American Idol’ Contestant Alex Lambert Not Homeless, Rep Says

Singer tweeted that he was living on the streets of Los Angeles. By Gil Kaufman Alex Lambert Photo: Frank Micelotta/ Getty Images On the eve of the season 10 debut of “American Idol,” one of last season’s most lovable losers has gotten himself back into the news. Perhaps you remember (though probably not) stage-fright-wracked singer Alex Lambert , the talented but nervous guitar strummer whose ouster unleashed an online petition of support from more than 13,000 fans who wanted him reinstated to the show. Well, on Monday night, Lambert posted a string of tweets in which he claimed he’d been forced to live on the streets of Los Angeles since October, when he wrapped up his stint on the reality series “If I Can Dream,” the online show he fled to after being booted from “Idol.” After chatting with some fellow fans and former “Idol” pals about his frustrations with the music biz, Lambert dropped this bombshell: “Ever since ‘IICD’ ended I’ve been kinda homeless! Sleepin on the street and behind buildings. I have a choice to stay and pursue my career or go back to texas and not do music! I’m usually a strong person but I can’t take it anymore. I’ve been goin to coffee shops and other stores so I can tweet to my snaf! Because to be honest! You guys are all I really have!” According to Entertainment Weekly, however, things are not nearly as grim as they might seem. A spokesperson for an “Idol” production company, 19 Entertainment, which manages many of the show’s contestants, confirmed that the tweets did come from Lambert but denied that the 20-year-old Texas singer is sleeping behind dumpsters. “He’s not homeless. I don’t know where that came from,” the unidentified rep told EW, explaining that there’s good reason to believe that Lambert should have the ability to pay for housing thanks to his development deal with 19. “He’s on a retainer, and he’s getting money every month,” the spokesperson said. “He’s working on demos. He’s with writers, he’s working on music. … He’s not homeless. How could he be texting? How could he be going into [the] recording studio and sleeping on the streets? There’s no record deal yet, but hopefully these demos … something could come from that.” Perhaps someone at 19 had a chat with Lambert about his down and out in Beverly Hills claims, since he updated his status on Tuesday afternoon, writing, “Sorry for the miscommunication 😉 I’m just fine! MAHALO!” And even though he claimed to be living on the streets, he asked his followers not to feel sorry for him, adding, “I know a lot of people think I tweeted my living situation for publicity! But I don’t give a damn about fame!” But then he muddied the waters again with some follow-up tweets in which he stated emphatically, “I’m real! And I don’t lie! and I would never lie to y’all! (y’all being my supporters who got my back through thick and thin) F— yeah I was … sleepin outside! That sh– sucks too! I’m goin back home to get my sh– together! But I will be back! And I’m comin strong! LETS DO THIS!” Don’t miss our “American Idol” live stream “Judging the Judges: An ‘Idol’ Without Simon,” featuring post-show analysis from Jim Cantiello and special guests, on MTV.com tonight at 10 p.m. ET.
