Nicki Minaj to V: You Will Remember Me!

What do Nicki Minaj and Ted Williams have in common? Little, except for this: neither wants to be forgotten. Williams sent this message to America before leaving for rehab this week, while Minaj says in the latest issue of V : “I’m an entertainer – I like to make people laugh. Some will hate it and some will love it, but all will remember it. And that’s what I want: to be remembered . Even if I’m saying something hard-core or controversial, there’s always a touch of humor, and if you don’t like it, it means I’m stirring things up inside of you.” Speaking on her unique persona, the rapper also says: “I would crumple up and die if I had to wake up and be the same person every day.” She certainly changes things up in this magazine’s pictorial. Judge Decrees: Fantasia Did Not Wreck Any Homes!

Fantasia Barrino is not a homewrecker. This is not just a random, uneducated opinion. This is an actual ruling for a North Carolina judge. As part of Antwaun Cook’s divorce proceedings in North Carolina this week – the same trial that recently forced Fantasia to admit she aborted her lover’s baby – a judge found that Antwaun and Paula Cook separated on September 14, 2009. Paula had claimed the date was June 2010, which prompted accusations of Fantasia stealing her man and possibly even a lawsuit under North Carolina’s unusual Alienation of Affection law. While there’s no official word on future legal proceedings yet, it’s hard to imagine Paula having any case against Fantasia in light of this ruling. Barrino may now return to her tour , which wraps up New Year’s Day in St. Louis.

Pauly D to Star in Jersey Shore Spinoff

Jersey Shore star Pauly D, a.k.a. DJ Pauly D, a.k.a. Rhode Island’s most famous DJ, a.k.a. Paul DelVecchio, is a man who needs no introduction. It’s little surprise, then, that he just landed his own MTV spinoff series, beating out co-stars Snooki, The Situation and JWoww for that honor. “At the heart of Jersey Shore is the unique, genuine cast and Pauly D embodies both qualities,” said Chris Linn, Executive V.P. of Programming. Next year, this DJ gets to spin … off! Pauly D recently closed the series option deal after filming a pilot for 495 Productions, the company behind Jersey Shore , this past September. “He’s distinguished himself onscreen as the fun-loving, well-coiffed and dependable guy you can’t help but want to hang out with,” Linn says. “We know viewers are curious about his life away from the Jersey Shore and we look forward to exploring new possibilities around that.” Before his spinoff hits the air, Pauly will appear with his cohorts this winter. By James Montgomery, with reporting by Matt Elias Phoenix Photo: MTV News Phoenix have spent nearly two years becoming progressively more famous thanks to their Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix album. So, when the French group agreed to write the score for Sofia Coppola’s “Somewhere,” they were presented with a rather unique challenge: to make themselves disappear. “We had to hide our music in something bigger and more important, which was a story, and it was a very nice job just to try to disappear and to blend,” guitarist Laurent Brancowitz told MTV News on Sunday at KROQ’s Almost Acoustic Christmas. “And it was really easy, because the overall sound of the movie was already very [much] like music, with car engines, and to blend our music, it was very cool. We always fight a lot when we are creating, and this time it was different, it was a really nice adventure.” And in writing the soundtrack to the film — which stars Stephen Dorff and Elle Fanning and opens nationally on December 22 — Phoenix also began tucking away ideas for the follow-up to Wolfgang too. And they came up with so many that starting early next year, they’ll begin working on a new album. Just don’t ask them what those ideas might be. From the sound of things, they haven’t even shared them with each other. Out of necessity, of course. “We are going to start the 4th of January, to be precise, in Paris,” guitarist Christian Mazzalai said. “We have many ideas, but we keep them in our boots. We are too afraid to destroy them if we say them to you or each other.” And though work is set to begin on the new album in early 2011, fans might not hear it until the following year. Seems Phoenix are taking this whole disappearing thing pretty seriously. “We are just going to begin working on it and see what happens,” bassist Deck d’Arcy smiled. “In our dreams, it may come out next year, but probably not in reality.” Related Artists Phoenix

Beatles legend and ‘How Do You Know’ star team up for a digital short on NBC hit. By Mawuse Ziegbe Paul McCartney and Paul Rudd on “SNL” on Dec. 11, 2010 Photo: NBC “Saturday Night Live” was packed with Pauls, from a rock icon to a newbie comedian. Second time host Paul Rudd played up the plethora of fellas with the name during his opening monologue, claiming credit for the fan mania that was clearly the result of rock legend Paul McCartney’s on-set presence as musical guest. Rudd smugly remarked about a woman crying and people chanting “Yesterday,” until the Beatles icon appeared onstage to clear up the brouhaha. Featured “SNL” player Paul Brittain also briefly joined the Paul-fest. For the most part, the two stuck to what they’re each known for, with Rudd dishing out the laughs and McCartney serving up the music. In one sketch, Rudd brings his girlfriend home for the holidays to meet his super affectionate family who make out and grope each other to the horror of his gal pal. Rudd also turns up as a gay man who heads to a relationship expert’s talk show for advice, only to get ridiculed by her stodgy, ignorant producer who had to fill in because she was sick. The “How Do You Know” star also competed in the faux game show “What’s That Name,” handily identifying pop culture figures like Subway spokesman Jared Fogel and fumbling when faced with naming his doorman of four years. Rudd also flexed his comedic chops as a nerdy math teacher tasked with mounting a holiday party for students and ends up geekifying the whole affair by dropping zingers like “off the hoof” and “elf esteem.” Rudd and McCartney did cross paths once again in the digital short “Stumblin’ ” in which Andy Samberg and Rudd play buddies who tagger through life, always seconds away from falling over outright. McCartney inexplicably pops up mid-segment in a ruffled blouse and velvet blazer to croon ’80s ballad “Take My Breath Away” by Berlin. Then he whips out a miniscule harmonica, dons cowboy gear and goes to town with Rudd and Samberg cheering him on. McCartney confined the goofiness to the Samberg skit, taking the stage first with “Jet” from Wings’ 1973 Band on the Run LP. The rock luminary strummed the straightforward jam, bopping along in a purple blazer, and adding a flourish of a boogie-woogie dance at the end. McCartney followed up with another Wings hit, “Band on the Run,” for his second performance, ditching the blazer for skinny red suspenders and punctuating the set with guttural howls. The couple, who began dating four years ago and have two children together, tied the knot Saturday at the Los Angeles home of soul singer Lionel Richie, the bride’s father, according to People. An array of stars helped the couple celebrate their nuptials, including No Doubt frontwoman Gwen Stefani, celebrity DJ Samantha Ronson and Madden’s twin and Good Charlotte bandmember, Benji. People also reports another unique guest made an impression at the wedding: the affair apparently included a trained elephant that was seen being led to the wedding site. According to UsMagazine.com, Reverend Run presided over the ceremony. A source told People the pair were going for “an Old Hollywood glamorous feel to the wedding.” The duo have a son, Sparrow, and a daughter, Harlow, together and announced earlier this year that they were ready to head down the aisle. Madden took to Twitter to announce the news in February. “Yep. I’m engaged. Very happy,” he said. “Yeah, we’ve been engaged for a while, so you’re all kind of late on that. But thanks for the hoopla all the same.” While Madden turned to social media to inform fans of the engagement, Richie went to late-night TV, confirming to David Letterman that she and Madden were slated to swap vows. “We actually recently are engaged, yes,” Richie said. In 2008, Madden told MTV News that becoming a family man has affected his approach to music, and he is more conscious of the image he presents to his fanbase. “It’s definitely made me think about my fans a little more, because they’re people’s kids, so I care what they think,” he said. “And I care what I’m saying to them, because I want people to think about what they’re saying to my child. … So it makes me care about what I’m doing a little bit more. By Jocelyn Vena, with additional reporting by Evan Leong The Lady Gaga wax figure at Madame Tussauds in New York City Photo: Gary Gershoff/ Getty Images All day on Thursday (December 9), Madame Tussauds unveiled eight wax versions of Lady Gaga all over the world, including at the museum’s European outposts, as well as one in New York’s Times Square. MTV News was on hand for the NYC unveiling of the pop star’s wax likeness, where her little monsters showed up dressed up in Gaga-like garb to catch a glimpse of the statue. For the New York version, Gaga appears in a sheer black dress paired with a wide-brim hat made of hair, a look she wore to the Consumer Electronics Show back in January. Earlier in the day, figures were unveiled in Asia and Europe, and they fittingly each have their own unique fashion statement, which Gaga fans were invited to help pick out. In Berlin, Gaga wears a blazer, leotard and hair bow; in London the figure dons a Philip Treacy telephone hat and sparkly navy Armani suit; in Amsterdam, she’s in a nude bodysuit, a white blazer and a towering purple beehive. Her skintight black harlequin outfit is featured in Hong Kong, and her wire “wing” dress is on display in Shanghai. Gaga statues are also making their debut in Los Angeles and Las Vegas later in the day. “As one of the biggest and most unique talents in the world, Lady Gaga is the perfect subject for the biggest figure launch in Madame Tussauds’ history,” a November press release said, explaining why Gaga was getting so many statues. “All of the styles being worked on are classic Gaga, and we’re sure her fans will be delighted with the unique looks when we unveil the figures next month.” Gaga is one of the many pop stars to get a wax statue this year.
