Having a baby, it does a body good. At least if you’re Beyonce, who made her first public appearance last night since giving birth to Blue Ivy Carter on January 7. It’s safe to say the singer doesn’t look half bad, does she? Beyonce and her new curves came out to support her husband, as Jay-Z performed at Carnegie Hall in the first of two benefit concerts to honor the United Way of New York City and the Shawn Carter Scholarship Foundation. Both organizations aim to educate children and lift them out of poverty. A good cause. A great body. Beyonce has also been in the news lately because reports claim Simon Cowell wants her to judge The X Factor next season. For a cool $100 million salary . [Photo: Kevin Mazur/WireImage]

Ron Paul comes in third in latest GOP contest. By Gil Kaufman Mitt Romney Photo: Joe Raedle/ Getty Images Just four days after notching his most convincing win of the primary season so far, former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney made it two in a row by taking Saturday night’s Republican caucus in Nevada with 47.6 percent of the vote. In a season where three different candidates have won the first four contests, that gives Romney the distinction of being the first to grab two consecutive wins. “This is not the first time you’ve given me your vote of confidence, and this time I’m going to take it to the White House,” a clearly excited Romney said at a victory speech, where he once again turned his attention away from his Republican opponents and on President Obama. Unlike Florida, where Representative Ron Paul didn’t compete in order to focus on Nevada and other upcoming states, and former Pennsylvania Senator Rick Santorum was forced to suspend his campaigning to deal with a sick child, all four remaining candidates worked the road in the first Western contest of the season. After coming in 14 points behind Romney in Florida, Newt Gingrich was hoping for a solid comeback but could not rely on a strong debate performance, as there was not one in advance of the latest battle. On Saturday night he finished well behind Romney, rolling up just 22.7 percent of the vote (with 71 percent of precincts reporting at press time). While Romney took to the stage in a room full of cheering supporters, the Gingrich headquarters was a stark contrast, an empty room where the former House Speaker spoke to reporters via television. “I am a candidate for president of the United States,” Gingrich said. “I will be the candidate of the president of the United States.” Romney won Nevada handily in 2008, taking 51 percent of the vote because his rivals in the last GOP primary race basically let him run unopposed assuming the state’s large Mormon population would ensure Romney — who is Mormon — a win. Though Mormons only account for 7 percent of the state’s population (around 180,000), they are rabid voters and reliably make up one-quarter of Republican caucus-goers. But it wasn’t it as clear-cut this time. Even Santorum, who has moved to the back of the pack since his recount win in Iowa a month ago, put up a strong battle, though he ended up in fourth place with just 11.1 percent. And Paul, who was counting on the state’s vocal Tea Party contingent and independent voters to come out for him, had a decent showing in third place with 18.6 percent. As he did in Florida, Romney came in with a much bigger ground game than the rest of the field, a record of visiting the state often over the past year-and-a-half and, for what it’s worth, the endorsement of real-estate mogul and once-potential candidate Donald Trump. Regardless of the results, unlike winner-take-all Florida, no actual delegates will be awarded following the Nevada caucus. As in Iowa, delegates will be elected to go to the county convention and then to a state gathering, who will then decide where the state’s 34 delegates go to the GOP convention in Tampa. It’s possible the delegates who go to Florida in late August may not reflect the final results of Saturday’s vote. Voting also began Saturday in Maine’s caucus, whose vote will take place over the next week. More voters go to the polls on Tuesday, when Colorado and Minnesota also caucus. While the FBI went after the file-sharing site for copyright infringement, many users want to recover their non-pirated data. By Kara Warner The FBI take-down notice posted at Megaupload.com Photo: United States Department of Justice The drama surrounding file-sharing site Megaupload continued Friday (January 27) as users announced a plan to sue the FBI over files lost during the site’s shutdown last week. Last week, the federal government took action against Megaupload.com, arresting several members of the company on racketeering and copyright-infringement charges. A federal indictment alleged that the site, which allows users to transfer large files, has generated more than $175 million in criminal proceeds and costs copyright-holders more than $500 million in lost revenue from pirated movies, albums and other materials. According to TorrentFreak.com , Pirate Parties around the world are banding together to file an official complaint against U.S. authorities in an effort to recover the large amounts of non-pirated data, research documents and personal videos that are shared among users on the site. “The widespread damage caused by the sudden closure of Megaupload is unjustified and completely disproportionate to the aim intended,” they announced in a statement obtained by TorrentFreak. “For this reason Pirates of Catalonia, in collaboration with Pirate Parties International and other Pirate Parties, have begun investigating these potential breaches of law and will facilitate submission of complaints against the US authorities in as many countries as possible, to ensure a positive and just result. “This initiative is a starting point for legitimate internet users to help defend themselves from the legal abuses promoted by those wishing to aggressively lock away cultural materials for their own financial gain.” The Department of Justice said the case against Megaupload is among the largest criminal copyright cases ever brought by the United States. The news broke just a day after major websites like Wikipedia and Google protested against the U.S. House of Representatives’ controversial Stop Online Piracy Act, or SOPA , and the Senate’s similar Protect IP Act.
In this clip, commentator Bill Moyers answers a question frequently posed to him by viewers — “How can ordinary people fight ‘Citizens United’?” The controversial Supreme Court ruling enshrines the notion of “corporate personhood” into law, giving companies many of the same rights and protections as U.S. citizens, allowing businesses to pour unlimited amounts of money into influencing political contests…. Hotly tipped MC Mac Miller also shows up in the clip, which is heavy on single-digit salutes. By James Montgomery Gabe Saporta of Cobra Starship in “Middle Finger” Photo: Fueled By Ramen In Cobra Starship’s “Middle Finger” video, released Thursday (January 19), there are plenty of allegories to economic injustices, socio-political discourses on a return to the Gold Standard and, perhaps most pointedly, thinly veiled criticisms of the United States’ imperialistic foreign policies and their long-term effects on global de-stabilization. OK, not really. It’s basically just a lot of middle fingers, of all shapes and sizes, ages and genders, thrust defiantly skyward. At one point there’s a callback to their “You Make Me Feel …” video, a “Zoolander”-esque Jeep trek, a cute puppy, some basketball and exactly one old woman getting drenched. Oh, and Mac Miller shows up, too. Of course, all of this is basically one giant contradiction to what frontman Gabe Saporta told MTV News late last year , when he promised the “Middle Finger” clip would feature “a lot of cheekiness … and no middle fingers.” But, then again, if Cobra Starship have proved anything over the years, it’s that they’re not adverse to a good joke , which is probably what Saporta was doing when he touted the complete lack of fingers in the new video. Their videos are never serious, and, well, “Finger” is definitely keeping with that trend. High art this most certainly ain’t. So, much like Big Sean did with his “Dance (A$$)” video — which, like the title implied, featured plenty of posterior — Cobra Starship delivered a clip that’s just one long vignette of bird-flipping. The basic plot follows the guys (and gals) as they traipse across a city, basically being complete jerks to everyone, which, in turn, earns them plenty of one-finger salutes. It’s pretty funny, to be honest. And that’s the best thing you can say about any Cobra Starship vid. Leave the social commentary to the Boss; Saporta and Co. are content churning out the goofiest clips in the rock universe. And “Middle Finger” is a welcome addition to their, uh, oeuvre. Proudly, profanely so. What did you think of the “Middle Finger” video? Let us know in the comments! Related Artists Cobra Starship

Nothing compares 2 heartache for Sinead O’Connor. Just weeks after she married Barry Herridge in a quickie Vegas wedding, then split with him just 18 days later, only to reunite a few days later , she’s ending the union. For good this time. Sinead said in a statement: “I will never again associate myself romantically with anyone as I could not bear to see these things done to someone I love,” said Sinead, who was Tweeting her own cry for psychiatric help this week, regarding media scrutiny of Barry. “These people, along with others caused enormous damage deliberately and maliciously to my innocent flower of a husband, purely because he was with me.” “And so his association with me became something very bad for his life.” “And slowly since we were married I became very ill as result of what was done to my husband and I was unable to cope. And became very depressed.” O’Connor slammed one unnamed reporter (she later ID’d him on Twitter as Irish Mirror showbiz columnist Paul Martin) whom she called a bully for trying to “lose my husband his job” as a counselor for drug-addicted teenagers. The twice-married Sinead, 44, concluded her official website missive with some self-affirming statements right out of a Bridget Jones movie. “Well guys, I’m gonna be me. ” “And if anyone doesn’t like that they can seek therapy. Because I am wonderful. Exactly as I am. As Bridge Jones would say. And I shall continue being me. If being me means certain Irish media will try to destroy my romantic life.. So be it.” Let it be so then. [Photo: WENN.com]
