Lady Gaga Brings Her Monster Balls To Madison Square Garden And Lets It All Hang Out

Whether you like her or not there is clearly no denying the talent that is Lady Gaga, but we wonder at what point people will grow tired of the theatrics and just want to hear the b*tch sing. Make no mistake. The show certainly has no shortage of likeable sight gags. Personal faves include the video of a woman wretching blue vomit all over Gaga, followed by the Lady herself savoring a fistfull of bloody entrails. But that’s just the icing on her provocative cake. What impressed most was the sheer disco fun of Gaga’s repertoire. In songs performed Monday night like “Glitter and Grease,” “Telephone” and “Boys Boys Boys,” she proved herself to have the most effervescent dance music released in the last two years. It fully deserves the unstoppable radio play it has earned. Better, Gaga delivered it once agan in robust voice, hitting the trickiest notes even while dancing mightily. That’s a most rare talent among stars whose shows rely so heavily on theatrics. If only Gaga had no pretensions beyond such blithe entertainment. Unfortunately, her desire to be seen as THE avant garde artiste of the hour clashes badly with many aspects of her display – most clearly, her material. The songs all fall in deep debt to the dance music of the ’80s, making it far more retro than avant. Songs like “The Fame” and “Beautiful Dirty Rich” sound like they came right out of the “Dynasty” age. Once again Monday night she delivered all-too-many pep talks to her fans about “being free” and “being yourself” – bromides that now sound canned and corny, not to mention as self-serving as an awards show acceptance speech. Shouldn’t someone who looks this outrageous have more of a sense of irony? Then again, maybe that’s asking too much too soon from the young star. She has, after all, only the one full CD, and this sole, very long tour, to her name. Perhaps it’s enough that, beneath all her reaching, she’s putting on a live show that truly pops. Maybe the answer is never. Maybe Gaga will go on to be the biggest most polarizing pop star since Madonna, maybe… Source Bossip

What People Do for Oprah: Hugh Jackman Injured in Zipline Stunt

Oprah Winfrey is really enjoying her time in Australia. When she isn’t sailing around Sydney Harbour with close friend Russell Crowe — or shopping at local gift shops — she’s putting Hugh Jackman in grave danger. Well, not really: The Australian National Treasure received a cut above his right eye while taking part in a zipline-stunt-gone-bad at a taping of Oprah’s Ultimate Australian Adventure on Tuesday. “That was so much fun,” said Jackman, “until the end.” Let’s hope that isn’t one of the taglines for Real Steel . Click ahead to watch the unfortunate hilarity.

Taio Cruz Wants To Work With Kings Of Leon

Collabo king tells MTV News he was starstruck when Kylie Minogue recorded at his house for ‘Higher.’ By Gil Kaufman Taio Cruz Photo: Jon Kopaloff/ FilmMagic It’s already been a pretty spectacular year for Taio Cruz . He scored a breakthrough U.S. hit with “Break Your Heart” (featuring Ludacris), hooked up with Ke$ha for “Dirty Picture” and then set up shop near the top of the charts most of the summer into the fall with the unstoppable single “Dynamite.” Along the way, he’s recorded another upcoming single with Travie McCoy, “Higher” (which will feature Kylie Minogue in the U.K.), and he helped present an award alongside Nicki Minaj at Sunday night’s American Music Awards , where he came in with modest expectations for a win . Always thinking about his next move, Cruz is on the hunt for new collaborators, and on the AMA red carpet , he spilled some details on what he looks for in a musical match. “Someone who’s going to make an impact, something the fans are going to find a fun collaboration, something interesting,” he told MTV News. Despite his eclectic slate of collaborators, Cruz said he doesn’t feel like he needs to be a chameleon to shape himself to the singers he works with. “I think you just have to be nice,” he smiled. “People respond pretty well to nice. And musically it helps that I’m a producer and I can figure out ways of moving songs around.” Though he’s a veteran producer, Cruz admitted to getting a bit starstruck when Minogue came to his home studio to lay down some vocals. “I was just like, ‘Wow, Kylie Minogue is in my house.’ … It was very surreal.” Keen to keep his finger on the pulse, Cruz has also been hunkering down with Swedish House Mafia on some new tracks. “They’re so much fun,” he said of the crew. His ultimate dream musical match is one that might surprise you, though. “I would say I would have to call Kings of Leon,” he said of the arena-rocking Southern family band. “Because they’re incredible.” Who would you like to see Taio Cruz hook up with next? iTunes Sells 10 Billion Songs

Downloader who bought 10 billionth track wins a $10,000 iTunes gift card. By Ryan J. Downey iTunes hits ten billion sold Photo: Apple Black Eyed Peas, Lady Gaga and Katy Perry helped drive sales of tracks on Apple’s iTunes store past the 10 billion mark Wednesday (February 24). And the person who bought the 10 billionth track gets a $10,000 iTunes gift card. The Black Eye Peas’ “I Gotta Feeling” is the most-downloaded song on the store , with “Boom Boom Pow” landing at #3. Lady Gaga is the artist with the most songs toward the top, with “Poker Face” at #2, “Just Dance” at #6 and “Bad Romance” at #22. Other acts with tracks in the top 25 include Coldplay, Kanye West, Taylor Swift, Katy Perry, Kings of Leon, the Fray and Owl City. All of the top 25 tracks were released in the past five years (Ke$ha’s “Tik Tok” is the newest at #10) except for one: “Don’t Stop Believin’.” Classic rockers Journey undoubtedly have “The Sopranos” and “Glee” to thank for renewed interest in the unstoppable song, first recorded in 1981, which landed at #21. In 2006, Apple gave a gift card, 20-inch iMac, 10 60GB iPods and a music-school scholarship set up in the winner’s name to the person who purchased the 1 billionth download. Apple’s iTunes store was known as the iTunes Music Store when it launched less than seven years ago, prior to the addition of videos, movies and TV shows. Onetime MTV News correspondent Iann Robinson helped introduce iTunes in an infomercial that ran in Apple stores and online back in the day. In it, Robinson explained what are now well-known concepts like single-track downloads, full-album purchases, free 30-second previews of songs, burning CDs and transferring to iPods. “These are the people that changed my life with the simple invention of the iPod,” he said in the six-minute-plus video. “Buy a song or a whole album. Either way, you get album art! Awesome!” Related Videos Highlights From iTunes’ Most-Downloaded Songs Of All Time Related Artists Black Eyed Peas Katy Perry Lady Gaga
