McDonald’s & Harlem’s Fashion Row Search For The Next HBCU Fashion Star HBCU Fashion Design majors, listen up! McDonald’s has teamed up with Harlem’s Fashion Row to give one lucky designer a huge opportunity: McDonald’s USA has joined forces with Harlem’s Fashion Row™ (HFR) to challenge college students to showcase lovin’ through fashion via the 2015 Lovin’ Student Fashion Design Competition. One grand prize winner will receive the opportunity of a lifetime – his or her limited-edition lovin’ line of T-shirts and hooded sweatshirts will be displayed and distributed at HFR’s Shop, Brunch and Be Social event during the fall New York Fashion Week, where the winner will also attend HFR’s Fashion Show. In addition to the line being photographed by a fashion photographer, the winner will receive a one-on-one lunch and mentoring session with Bravo’s “Fashion Queens” host Bevy Smith. Undergraduate fashion design students attending historically black colleges and universities nationwide are encouraged to enter. Aspiring designers must submit two T-shirt sketches and two hooded sweatshirt designs that are inspired by the bright, playful colors and tone of McDonald’s new lovin’ campaign. New England Patriots Win Super Bowl XLIX There was a good bit of back and forth between the two teams for all four quarters, but the most action packed portion came in the last two nail-biting minutes of the game. Via USA Today : The ads were depressing and the halftime show was bizarre. But, oh, what a game. And, oh, what sweet redemption for Tom Brady and the New England Patriots in their 28-24 Super Bowl XLIX win over the defending champion Seattle Seahawks. The show on the field was the most entertaining part by far of this Super Bowl – no small thing in the annual spectacle that is part sport and many more parts circus. The second quarter alone will have folks talking for years – and certainly made up for that awful Nationwide commercial. (Whoever created that has less job security than Tharold Simon, by the way.) And the last two minutes deserve instant classic status if ever anything did. Trailing by four with less than two minutes to play, Russell Wilson lofted a pass that bounced off Jermaine Kearse’s left leg and right knee before popping into the air. Kearse flailed for the ball, only to have it bounce off his hands once, twice, three times before he pulled it into his chest for a 33-yard catch that put the Seahawks at the New England 5. But two plays later, Malcolm Butler picked Wilson off, sealing New England’s first title in 10 years. The big names delivered on their advance billing. Marshawn Lynch went Beast Mode with 133 total yards and a rushing touchdown.
