Friday! Huzzah! Time to gather some friends for a fun night out getting beaten senseless on a Vancouver sidewalk — or , if partying Shia-style isn’t your bag, feel free to just trawl through the lively memories gathered in Movieline’s Week in Review. It’s all here, with more delight to come in the days ahead from the winsome wit of Louis Virtel. Don’t be a stranger, and have a great weekend!
These kids were having WAY too much fun. This could be the plot for a movie, “Fast and Furious Canada,” or maybe “Fast and Furious, the Young and the Rich.” Police in British Columbia say they impounded $2 million worth of high-end vehicles this week after witnesses reported the 13 cars racing on a metro Vancouver highway at speeds of 125 mph (200 kph). The high-end race cars included a Ferrari, Lamborghinis, Maseratis, an Audi, an Aston Martin, Nissans and a Mercedes, according to a Royal Canadian Mounted Police press release. Two of the racers would run side-by-side to block other traffic going in their direction on the highway while the others cars would take off in a race, witnesses told the RCMP. “These drivers seemed to be looking for attention. Well, they definitely got the attention of police,” Cpl. Holly Marks, spokesperson for the Lower Mainland District Regional Police Service, said in the press release. What the racers, who police said are all under age 21, won’t get is harsh punishment. “Each driver will be charged with Driving without Reasonable Consideration and receive a violation ticket with a specified penalty of $196. Additionally, these drivers will be responsible for all associated towing and storage charges,” according to the RCMP press release. The Police say they never actually caught the drivers so no additional charges can be brought. But the question that they never answered is, how the hell they impound the cars if the drivers were never caught? Source
‘We pushed it back to really route it and put other dates on there,’ Jay says of pushing launch to October. By Rob Markman Kanye West and Jay-Z Photo: Getty Images Fans eager to experience Watch the Throne live are going to have to wait an extra month before they can see Jay-Z and Kanye West in concert. On Tuesday morning, Live Nation started a pre-sale for the WTT Tour, but the original run, which was set to begin on September 22 in Detroit, is no longer. Instead Yeezy and Hov will now kick things off on October 29 in Atlanta, Georgia. The original 24-date tour is now slated for 17 stops, but Live Nation’s website says that more dates will be announced soon. The October 29 Atlanta date was in fact on the original schedule, as was the October 30, Greensboro, North Carolina, date and the November 1 show in Baltimore. The remaining concerts are all rescheduled. Look back at the events leading up to Watch the Throne ‘s August 8 release. There is still no New York City date on paper yet, though Hov confirmed that there will be one during a radio interview with Hot 97’s Angie Martinez on Monday, when he also denied rumors of a feud between him and Kanye . The Throne will stop at the nearby Izod Center in East Rutherford, New Jersey, for two nights and will also land in West’s hometown of Chicago on December 1. “That’s an old list we had to push that back, because it was like, we tried to put it out in pre-order and all the lines got jammed,” Jay told Martinez in the interview as she read off the tour’s original dates. “We pushed it back to really route it and put other dates on there. We’ll probably put four New York dates there instead.” Check out exclusive photos of Jay-Z and Kanye West in the studio. As of now, the last date on the schedule is across the northern border on December 18 in Vancouver. In the radio interview, Jay said that he and Kanye hadn’t worked out the performance details and couldn’t confirm who would hit the stage when or how the two would interact. “We hadn’t worked out those details yet but considerable time will be spent onstage together,” he said. ‘It’s a lot darker and there’s a lot more adult things that are handled and dealt with,’ Ashley Greene tells us at Comic-Con. By Terri Schwartz, with reporting by Josh Horowitz Kellan Lutz and Ashley Greene Photo: MTV News The final two “Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn” movies are filmed and wrapped, but the hype for the flicks is only going to get bigger now that the first two full scenes have been shown at San Diego Comic-Con . It seems fair to say that the film series will continue to get bigger as “Breaking Dawn: Part 1” and “Part 2” hit theaters over the next year and a half. Appropriately, these last two movies were the biggest shoot of the entire series as well. They were filmed back-to-back over the course of seven months and incorporated a much larger cast than the previous movies. “With each installment, everything kind of got bigger and more grand,” Ashley Greene told MTV News during our “Breaking Dawn” live stream . “The stakes definitely got higher with each installment as well.” The content of the movies matured as its stars did. “Breaking Dawn” deals with everything from marriage and pregnancy to Bella making the decision to become a vampire, and the franchise’s stars were ready to delve into the more adult material. “I’d been waiting to shoot ‘Breaking Dawn’,” Kellan Lutz said of his anticipation for last year’s shoot. “It gets juicy.” Greene agreed, saying, “I think with ‘Breaking Dawn,’ it’s a lot darker and there’s a lot more adult things that are handled and dealt with. I think it was a lot different than all the other ones.” “Part 2” includes a brand-new cast of vampires that will be joining the Cullens in their rebellion against the Volturi, and Lutz said he felt that having so many new faces improved the filmmaking experience. “We have a way larger cast, so it was really great to work with so many more talented actors and just bring new friends into the franchise,” he said. “It’s great to have more people to hang out with. It’s definitely a bigger movie, a way larger production.” It certainly helped bolster the excitement for the huge action set pieces that they have to look forward to in the second movie. “We shot some really epic scenes that took multiple days,” Lutz teased. “I’m really excited to see it.” Check out everything we’ve got on “The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1” and “Part 2.” For breaking news, celebrity columns, humor and more — updated around the clock — visit MTVMoviesBlog.com .
