‘Jersey Shore’ Star Snooki Opens Up About Boyfriend, New Book

‘I’m actually really nervous tonight because my boyfriend’s watching,’ ‘Jersey Shore’ star said on ‘The Tonight Show.’ By Jocelyn Vena Snooki on the “Tonight Show” on Monday Photo: NBC Snooki has a new boyfriend and his name is Gianni. And when she sat down to chat with Jay Leno on “The Tonight Show” Monday night, the late-night talk-show host got the pint-size “Jersey Shore” star to open up about her nice Italian beau. “I’m actually really nervous tonight because my boyfriend’s watching,” she laughed. “I don’t want to say the wrong thing and have us get into a fight or something.” Snooki said that before she decided to settle down with Gianni, she did have some reservations since she has amassed fame and doesn’t want guys to date her for the wrong reasons. “That’s why I was really nervous. [I was] like, ‘Is this guy really for me?’ ” she explained. “But he respected me and he was nice, so I liked him. He’s actually going to school to be a gym teacher and he’s a wrestling coach for little kids. “His family is awesome. They do Sunday dinner all the time. They’re a great family. I can only make grilled cheese. That’s all,” she joked. It’s a big week for Snooki. Not only does she welcome a new roommate into the “Jersey Shore” house, fellow “party girl” Deena, when the season kicks off Thursday, but she also has a novel out, the aptly titled “A Shore Thing.” She noted that while the characters are similar to her and JWoww, everything in the book is made up. “[It’s] very exciting,” she said. “It’s just based on things that are in my head, like made-up stories.” Snooki also opened up about her pre-fame jobs, which included retail. “I was working at Filene’s,” she recalled. “I was a cashier. I was in [the] old women’s [department]. I was like, try this flannel sweater on. I actually quit because I went into work one day really, really drunk from the night before and I went to my boss, ‘I have a really bad eye infection, I cannot stay here.’ And I got fired.” The new season of MTV’s “Jersey Shore” premieres Thursday at 10 p.m. ET on MTV.

Justin Bieber Says He’s ‘Crazy’ And ‘Nuts’

Bieber opens up about his personal life and the trials of pop superstardom in a new Vanity Fair cover story. By Jocelyn Vena Justin Bieber on February 2011 cover of Vanity Fair Photo: Art Streiber / Conde Nast When Vanity Fair got hold of Justin Bieber for their February cover story , the boy wonder admitted that there’s a lot going on in that well-coifed head of his. “I’m crazy, I’m nuts,” the teen pop sensation declares, while suggesting that might not be such a bad thing for someone in his line of work. “Just the way my brain works. I’m not normal. I think differently — my mind is always racing,” he says in the issue, which hits newsstands everywhere January 11. “I’m just … nuts. But I think the best [musicians] probably are.” Bieber also talks about his hectic life in the spotlight. “It’s hard to really balance myself. A regular kid, if he catches the flu, he just gets to go home,” the young singer explains. “But I can’t do that … Everything is important. But, you know, my sanity is important, too. Even if I’m angry, I’ll just put a smile on my face and fake it. I don’t often fake it — what’s me is me … I know I have to give up a lot of myself, or a lot of a private life.” Still, Bieber reveals that he does have someone who helps to ensure that he gets to have some normal experiences. That guy is Kenny Hamilton, his bodyguard, who says, “I feel like I’ve become an expert at covert operations,” adding that he is the guy who makes sure that things go smoothly when the singer gets a day off. Aside from trying to find time for a personal life, Bieber also confesses that he wants to travel to space (something fellow pop star Lance Bass also dreamt about), hates reading — although he does own a copy of the Will Smith-approved “Rich Dad Poor Dad” — and has a hard time sleeping at night, but that could be attributed to his self-proclaimed racing mind. “I just turn over all night and think. My mind races,” he explains. “I think about all the things I didn’t have time to think about during the day — like family and God and things that should be more important but you don’t have time to think about, because you just get caught up [in everything else] during the day.” The Vanity Fair piece also includes a conversation with Bieber’s mom, Pattie Mallette, who shared that she thinks God put her and her son on Earth to bring light to the world. In addition, the magazine spoke with Usher, who describes the mop-topped singer as “the antithesis of Disney and Nickelodeon,” while adding, “You could immediately tell that this [was] a kid who has style — he’s a hip kid.” Bieber, now 16, is experiencing all his growing pains in the public eye and he knows that everyone is watching. “For younger guys, it’s like [they think] they’re not cool if they come to my concert. That’ll [change], I think; it’ll happen, maybe when I’m 18. But meanwhile, all their girlfriends are coming to watch me,” he says. “Of course, I think that people are just waiting for that time when I make a mistake and they’re gonna jump on it … There’s gonna be haters.” He adds that he intends to remain level-headed as his career progresses. “I know I’m not going to make a life-changing bad decision, as some people have,” he insists. “I’ve seen it happen too many times. I could be my own worst enemy, but I don’t want to mess this up.” Related Photos Justin Bieber Takes Over The Bodies Of Other Teen Idols Related Artists Justin Bieber

Justin Bieber: ‘I’m nuts’

Justin Bieber thinks he is “nuts”. The 16-year-old pop star suffers from insomnia and can’t stop himself from thinking about his loved ones, career and “God” when his head hits the pillow at night, but believes his problems are a sign of his talent. He said: “I’m crazy, I’m nuts. Just the way my brain works. I’m not normal. I think differently – my mind is always racing. I’m just . nuts. But I think the best musicians probably are. “I just turn over all night and think. My mind races. I think about all the things I didn’t have time to think about during the day – like family and God and things that should be more important but you don’t have time to think about, because you just get caught up in everything else during the day.” Justin is enjoying his worldwide success but he accepts his fame comes at a price and he knows he can’t just to whatever he wants and has a responsibility to his fans. He explained to the February edition of Vanity Fair magazine: “It’s hard to really balance myself. A regular kid, if he catches the flu, he just gets to go home. But I can’t do that . Everything is important. But, you know, my sanity is important, too. Even if I’m angry, I’ll just put a smile on my face and fake it. I don’t often fake it – what’s me is me. I know I have to give up a lot of myself, or a lot of a private life.” Despite the problems his singing career cause him, the ‘Baby’ singer won’t ever give up on his career and plans to push himself as far as he can. He said: “I see myself just growing. I didn’t know that any of this was really possible. I grew up in a really small town with not a lot of money, and I liked singing, but it was just something that was a hobby. As I get into it more, I want to grow as an artist, as an entertainer, and basically perfect my craft. I want to be the best that I can be.”

Here’s hoping Biebs won’t be wearing just a bed sheet.

Justin Bieber Vanity Fair cover, interview So much for Baby Biebs disappearing in 2011. He’s already got a shiznit of appearances and interviews lined up that will pretty much send Bieber addicts into a freakin’ frenzy. I can’t even roll my eyes anymore. And we’ve got the news that Justin Bieber will be on the Vanity Fair cover and have an in-depth interview that will blow your mind. Come either February or March of 2011, you will be able to snag up a copy of Vanity Fair with Justin Bieber on the cover wearing just a diaper, sucking on a pacifier and holding a teething biscuit. (Ok, so the latter is not true, but it would be cool and more fitting. We kid. Sorta.) So how is Bieber able to snag so many relevant magazine covers like Vanity Fair instead of simply Teen or J-14? Thankfully Bawbwa Wawa helped him out a bit with adding him to her most fascinating people of the year list. It’s not like there hasn’t been a teen to grace the cover of Vanity before. You may remember Miley Cyrus’ scandalous spread? Who doesn’t, right? And perhaps you remember when Lindsay Lohan and Raven Symone shared a double cover of the mag years back? Well, rumor has it that Biebs won’t be sharing the cover with anyone else and he probably won’t be just covered with a bed sheet. This will be a good chance for the teeny bopper to shed a more serious light on his life and his career. So what will the cover look like? Will Biebs sport a suit? Contradictions Pile Up Around Vanity Fair’s Palin Hit Piece

Vanity Fair writer Michael Joseph Gross has already admitted to one error in his  profile of Sarah Palin , but the contradictions and controversies surrounding his hit piece continue to stack up. In a Sept. 7  post on The Corner , Katrina Trinko “refudiated” Gross’s characterization of Palin as vicious, vengeful, and fake. Unlike Gross’s sources, almost all of which were anonymous, Trinko provided citations. Gross had cited “people who know” suggesting Palin’s relationship with close friends Kristan Cole and Kris Perry had “deteriorated.” But Cole reportedly told Trinko the charge was “absolutely not true. I don’t know where they get this stuff from, honestly.” A former Palin aide, Ivy Frye, also contradicted Gross’s characterization that she parted ways with Palin “on bad terms.” “I didn’t leave on ‘bad terms,'” she said in a statement. “Gross’ 8 page hit piece is a complete work of fiction from beginning to end.” Gross recently admitted to misreporting the profile’s opening story – in which he had originally suggested Palin was using her son, Trig, who has Down syndrome, to gain political sympathy. The child he’d seen was the son of Palin’s friend Gina Loudon. “This was a mistake, and I regret the error,” Gross wrote  in a statement . But the story posted on Vanity Fair’s website makes no note of the retraction. The  original story appears unedited. Gross had previously defended his work by telling MSNBC “Morning Joe” hosts that, “I have a lot in common with this woman.” Elsewhere in his “Morning Joe” interview, Gross also called Palin “a person for whom there is no topic too small to lie about” and said, “She lies  about everything.” Maybe they’re not so different after all. Vanity Fair Reporter Admits Error In Sarah Palin Hit Piece

For almost two years, Sarah Palin has been complaining about media members making things up about her. On Friday, one finally admitted it. As NewsBusters reported Wednesday, Vanity Fair’s October issue has a hit piece on its cover about the former Alaska governor that Palin-hating press members have been predictably fawning and gushing over. Now, the Associated Press is reporting that the author, Michael Joseph Gross, has admitted making a mistake in his piece: Reporter Michael Joseph Gross describes Palin’s youngest son, Trig, being pushed in a stroller by his older sister, Piper, before a rally in May in the Kansas City suburb of Independence. “When the girl, Piper Palin, turns around, she sees her parents thronged by admirers, and the crowd rolling toward her and the baby, her brother Trig, born with Down syndrome in 2008,” according to the article. “Sarah Palin and her husband, Todd, bend down and give a moment to the children; a woman, perhaps a nanny, whisks the boy away; and Todd hands Sarah her speech and walks her to the stage.” Later in his piece, Gross described Piper joining Sarah on stage to “allow Palin to make a public display of maternal affection.”  Unfortunately, as Politico’s Ben Smith reported Thursday, that was a different Down syndrome baby: Trig wasn’t at the event, according to its organizer, Karladine Graves, a 61-year-old Kansas City physician, who, in 2009, founded one of the wave of new local conservative groups, this one called Preserving American Liberty. The “woman, perhaps a nanny,” was the boy’s mother, St. Louis talk radio host Gina Loudon, according to Graves. But it gets worse according to the AP: The mother of that child, conservative activist Gina Loudon, told the St. Louis Post-Dispatch that she told Gross during the rally that the child in the stroller was her son, not Palin’s. She said she tried to make it clear because the two children look a lot alike. “I told him that. And he ignored it,” Loudon said. “It’s not even like he didn’t fact check – he just ignored facts.” Now, Gross has admitted it: Gross said in a written statement sent to The Associated Press that he was mistaken. “Trig was with his mother the next day in Wichita (Kan.), but the child in Independence was someone else, and I regret the error,” he said. He regrets the error? No he doesn’t. He regrets getting caught, for as Smith wrote Thursday, this has been a modus operandi for dishonest media members like Gross for two years: [T]he Vanity Fair piece on Sarah Palin is so emblematic of much that’s wrong about the way she’s covered that it’s worth returning to, and I’ve learned that the its long wind-up is based on fundamental confusion about which of Palin’s children was at an event in Kansas City. Palin almost never talks to neutral media outlets, leaving her – as critics accurately note – subject to none of the questions, challenges  and reality checks that the political press puts regularly to almost every other national political figure. She takes a lot of heat for this, deservedly. But with the hunger for information about her, and the traffic she drives, the press sometimes compensates by printing such thinly sourced, badly reported nonsense about her that it’s hard to imagine it making it into a serious magazine like Vanity Fair if it concerned any other figure. Of course, this might not happen if she spoke to reporters, but that’s no excuse. Yeah it is, Ben, for what’s the point of talking to the press if they’re going to just make stuff up? Of course, this is the kind of yellow journalism by “impotent, limp, gutless reporters” Palin ridiculed while chatting with Sean Hannity Wednesday, and is why it’s difficult to believe any of the nonsense about her in the media. Vanity Fair should be so proud of itself.

Vanity Fair’s Palin Antagonist: ‘I Have a Lot in Common with this Woman’

The author of a  10,600-word Vanity Fair hit piec e on Sarah Palin is defending his work, claiming he set out to defend the former Alaska governor and vice presidential candidate, but that the resulting article “was forced on me by the facts.” Michael Gross appeared on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” Sept. 2 to discuss his article in the October issue of Vanity Fair. The piece depicts Palin as a volatile, vengeful, mean-spirited figure, although Gross  only managed to find one person  willing to speak critically of Palin on the record. “The worst stuff isn’t even in there,” Gross said on “Morning Joe” when asked about the extreme picture he paints of Palin. “You know, I couldn’t believe these stories either when I first heard them and I started the story with the prejudice in her favor. I have a lot in common with this woman. I’m a small town person, I’m a Christian. I think that a lot of her criticisms of the media actually have something to them and I figured she’d gotten a bum ride but everybody close to her tells the same story.” Yet for someone so supposedly enamored with Palin, Gross sure turned quickly. He said Palin is “a person for whom there is no topic too small to lie about,” citing a speech in Wichita in which Palin contradicted other statements she’d made about finding out her son, Trig, would have special needs. “She lies about everything,” Gross continued, without offering other examples. “She lies about her personal life. She lies about, she lies about …” At one point, Gross said that “if we start returning to the standard that … a politician has to tell the truth, then she is out of here because she can’t stand up to that.” When host Willie Geist pressed Gross on criticism that his piece is a hatchet job, the author maintained that “it’s exactly the opposite. As I said before, I started this with every good intention toward her. I was just shocked and appalled at every step at what I found and I wrote this story, you know, sort of against my will. It wasn’t what I wanted to write, it wasn’t what I wanted to find. It was forced on me by the facts.”  Like this article?
