Gay: Lance Bass On Chris Brown “Being A Black Man He Should Know The ‘F’ Word Is Just Like Calling You The ‘N’ Word!!!”

Former N’Sync singer Lance Bass is calling Breezy out for being a gay hater . Via Celebuzz reports : Lance Bass is calling Chris Brown out — about a certain word the R&B star should toss from his vernacular. After a history of the letting the word “f**got” fly, whether it be in his hit “Look At Me Now” or an alleged attack on a fan, Brown has again come under fire for the homophobic slur. In the wake of Brown’s brawl with hip-hop artist Frank Ocean in late January, Ocean — who came out in late July — revealed to investigators that he was called the “f” word by a member of Breezy’s crew during the fray. And that simply doesn’t sit well with the openly gay Bass. “Calling people fa**ot and that stuff, I mean, he may not even mean what he means, but it’s a derogatory term that people throw out there and without even knowing why they are saying it,” Bass told Celebuzz. “But when it comes to Frank Ocean and knowing that he’s … very out … it was definitely meant to hurt him. It’s never good to throw those words out there that mean so much.” And it upsets Bass all the more that the slur is being thrown around by a minority. “[Brown] should understand that being a black man himself. He should know that the F word is just like calling you the N word in a very derogatory way,” Bass said. “When you come from a minority like that, being gay or black or whatever, it’s like there should be an understanding, like we all get each other. But you don’t see that a lot, which is really sad.” Given Brown’s brushes with the law — dating back to his 2009 felony assault of recently reconciled girlfriendRihanna — Bass sees the singer striding down a bad path. “I think there are a lot of people out there that have anger issues, and you can definitely see that in Chris Brown. I hope he gets the help he needs,” said the former ‘N Sync member, who now hosts a live SiriusXM radio show called Dirty Pop with Lance Bass. “I hope Rihanna understands what she is in. I see it happen so many times in couples, where it’s like an abusive relationship and you don’t know it’s an abusive relationship.” “I know he’s just doing some dumb moves right now,” Bass continued. “I think he needs to take responsibility for it. I don’t know if it’s drugs and alcohol and that type of stuff, but I really hope he comes to think that he’s really making dumb decisions right now.” “I think everyone can change, [and] I hope that he can change his tune. [But] we have all seen he hasn’t rehabilitated himself whatsoever,” Bass said. “But you look at Lindsay Lohan and different celebrities that keep getting in trouble and keep getting in trouble. There is obviously a problem there. Really, the only way to solve that is, you are going to have to go to jail. They are going to put you locked up for a long time for you to really learn a lesson.” Lance does have a point. Breezy, do you hear him though? He’s saying you are in the same league as Lindsay Lohan! WENN

Jigga What? Harvard University Tells Black Girl She Can’t List Jay-Z As A Role Model On College Application, Can Rappers Be Role Models?

Harvard better expect an open letter from Bey very soon… Harvard Tells Black Girl Can’t She List Jay-Z As A Role Model Via BusinessInsider : Back in 2005, a Harvard freshman filling out a profile for an on-campus recruiting program listed Jay-Z as her business role-model. Chanequa Campbell was promptly called into the Office of Career Services and told to name someone else. “It’s not appropriate. I don’t think people will respond well to this,” the career counselor told her. Campbell, who grew up seven blocks from Jay-Z in Brooklyn and idolized the drug-dealer turned rapper turned entrepreneur, refused to name someone else. She argued with the career counselor awhile longer, finally offering as a small concession to use her role model’s given name, Sean Carter. “I know his resume,” Campbell told me. “He made most of his major respect—Wall Street respect—since ’04.” Seven years later Campbell, who ended up getting kicked out of Harvard, still gets upset telling how Harvard didn’t respect the businessman from her community. “Most of Jay-Z’s songs, if you understand his vernacular, he’s telling you how to be cool, how to be good at life,” Campbell says. “He’s promoting things of content, things to aspire to. He mentions Warhol, he mentions Basquiat. He mentions people you’ve never heard of. He brings this light to our normal conversation.” Hov hangs out with Barack Obama and parties with Warren Buffett. He trails only Sean “Diddy” Combs on the Forbes’ list of Future Hip-Hop Billionaires. If either makes the cut, he will join the short list of currently only five black billionaires in the world. Did Harvard get it wrong? Can rappers be role models too?

UsWeekly Magazine announced the winners of their Most Stylish New Yorkers of 2011 competition. And among them were Lala Vazquez and her hubby Carmelo Anthony, super-producer Pharrell, singers Ashanti and Estelle, actress Taraji P. Henson and the entire band The Roots. Here’s what they had to say about their style: Ashanti: “Being on stage, I used to feel more comfortable with jeans, boots and a top. But now it’s nice to show the legs a little bit. Especially if I’m going to the gym, I might as well show it!” Estelle: “I love by legs and my boobs. I love my arms. I’m an equal opportunity lover of my entire body. I’m not egotistical about it. I put it all out there.” Taraji P. Henson: “People that dress me call me a paper doll, because I’m open to everything. I like to have fun!” Pharrell: “I prize all of my clothes in the same way because they’re each different modes of expression. Trying to choose a favorite is like asking what part of your vernacular is worth more than the other. Words are words and they help you to express yourself, and the same is true for a piece of clothing.” Questlove: “For every sharp-dressed man, there is a woman influencing his fashion.” Carmelo Anthony: “In New York I can really express myself in the way I dress. The city inspires my creativity.” Who do you think looked best? Who do you think was robbed? Stars Shine At Fashion’s Night Out 2011 [PHOTOS]

Die Antwoord Call Major-Label Debut $O$ ‘Too Fast, Too Furious’

‘Our style is incredibly, like, WWF,’ rapper Ninja tells MTV News. By Rya Backer Die Antwoord Photo: MTV News South Africa’s Die Antwoord first made a splash in the States earlier this year with their stunningly edited, sometimes-creepy video for “Enter the Ninja.” The song, a mix of rave, rap and the uniquely childlike voice of the duo’s female contingency, Yo-Landi Vi$$er, was only an introduction into their world. “Our style is incredibly, like, WWF, too fast, too furious, but the ingredients are South African,” rapper Ninja told MTV News about the band’s sound and aesthetic. They’re also heavily rooted in the Zef subculture. “Zef is, like, a style,” he explained, “but it’s got a lot of … it’s got like a look. It’s a South African style that we just kind of … it’s broken around and we kind of stuck it together. But there’s a whole Zef language.” The slang is an integral part of the Die Antwoord canon and is featured heavily throughout their major-label debut, $O$. Because their American fans — they admit they first broke out Stateside before their popularity grew back home — aren’t privy to some of the vernacular, we had them translate some popular Zef words and phrases. ” ‘Vat pomp’: When you say ‘what’s up,’ like, ‘hello,’ we say ‘vat pomp.’ It means, like, ‘What’s pumping?’ ” Ninja explained. “But they’re not actual words. They’re slang words, but there’s lots of them.” The band has pitched in to make sure nothing gets lost in translation. “We started to notice that the Zef slang is kind of like — if you know ‘Lord of the Rings,’ it’s kind of like learning the Elvish alphabet,” Ninja said. “So we put all our translations, ’cause people always don’t know what we’re talking about … [on] our interwebs on DieAntwoord.com . It’s all our lyrics with Zef translations to help people understand. People enjoy that kind of thing. It’s like a whole world opens up.” What do you think of Die Antwoord?
