Manchester Attack: Once Upon a Time Cast Pays Tribute to Georgina Callander

With news continuing to leak out concerning the Manchester terrorist attack on Monday night at an Ariana Grande concert, we’ve come across the following unique piece of information: One of the 22 victims who died in a bomb set off by Salman Abedi had recently met members of the Once Upon a Time cast. Georgina Callander, 18, was identified earlier on Tuesday as an attendee at the aforementioned Grande concert. Around 10:30 p.m., just after Grande has finished her set and fans were making their way to the exists, Abedi blew himself and nearly two dozen others up via what authorities have described as a “nail bomb.” Callander was one of the fatalities. We learned afterward that she had met Grande two years ago, Tweeting a photo of herself and the singer (below) in anticipation of seeing Ariana perform in Manchester on Monday evening. Now, she’s dead. Callander, meanwhile, also spent time with a number of Once Upon a Time stars at a fan convention just a few weeks ago. Once these actors and actresses learned of this connection, they took to social media to express their show and sorrow. “RIP @emiliesatwell remember meeting her last month. Beautiful, sweet girl,” wrote Emilie de Ravin on Twitter, adding: “She gave me the most lovely letter…at a loss 4 words #Manchester.” The former Lost actress also wrote the following on Instagram:  “RIP Georgina you beautiful soul…words can’t express my anger and sadness towards the people involved in planning and carrying out the attack last night in #Manchester.” Concluded de Ravin: “My love and courage goes out to Georgina’s family and friends and to all the families and friends of the victims last night. Praying for eternal peace for Georgina and all involved.” Rebecca Mader, who also appeared on Lost with de Ravin, Tweeted the following photo of herself and Callander and sent along her condolences as well: “I am heartbroken to wake up to learn Georgina was taken from us in Manchester. R.I.P Georgina. You were such a special girl. I’ll miss you.” And then there was Lana Parilla, who also met Callander. A photo of the veteran actress and the late teenager is below, while Parilla wrote on social media: “We lost a ONCE fan, @emiliesatwell , in the #manchesterexplosion last night. Devestating. RIP sweet Georgina.”  ISIS has claimed responsibility for this heinous act of violence, as British authorities continue to delve deeply into what transpired and who, specifically, was behind it. Earlier today, an unnamed 23-year old has been arrested in conjunction with the horrible crime. Along with these Once Upon a Time stars, numerous celebrities in Hollywood and members of the Royal Family have spoken out on the bombing. Karen David, another series cast member who met Callander, penned this tribute on Instagead: “I’m deeply saddened to hear that this sweet, and beautiful lady, Georgina, who I had the pleasure of meeting and talking to for awhile, only a couple of weeks ago at #SBUK3 was one of the innocent victims in tonight’s atrocity in Manchester. “It’s not fair, it’s not right. It makes me so angry and it breaks my heart that such a young and promising life has been stolen away! But I refuse to give in to hatred. I continue to choose love. I continue to choose unity because when we join together, we are strong! We will not be afraid. Dearest Georgina, may your kind soul rest in peace. “Heaven has gained an angel… My thoughts and prayers are with you, your family, and your friends.” Added Colin O’Donoghue, who plays Hook on Once Upon a Time: “Saddened to hear about the death of Oncer @emiliesatwell last night!! No words! #thoughtswithmanchester.” A GoFundMe page has been set up in tribute to Callandar and to help her family deal with this unimaginable loss. Donate to it HERE and join us in sending your heartfelt condolences to the Callandar family.

The Voice Recap: Battling for a Spot

After the very long Blind Auditions stage of this veteran NBC reality series, it was time for the singers to go head-to-head on Monday night to come out as the best of the rest.  Who never made much of an impact at this stage of the competition? Who sang higher than the rest? It’s time to run down the latest episode of this NBC smash… Brennley Brown vs. Lauren Duski Blake Shelton’s Country singers went head-to-head and sang “Better Man” by Little Big Town. The interesting thing about this performance was that it was a tough decision to decide which one of them should be saved.  Their vocals were excellent. It was most definitely not the easiest decision, but Blake decided to keep Lauren Duski. Unfortunately for Brennley Brown, Gwen Stefani wanted to take on some cast-offs from her boyfriend’s team.  JChosen vs. Kenny P Remember how we were ecstatic about the addition of JChosen a few weeks back? It turns out, we were right. Battling Kenny P for supremacy as they sang “I Was Made to Love You” by Stevie Wonder was the best way to benchmark the two voices.  JChosen emerged as the winner, but that was obviously going to happen from the get-go. His personality, voice and sheer determination helped him eke out the victory.  As expected, JChosen advanced to the next stage. Kenny P’s voice was no match, and there was no steal. That meant it was the end of the line for Kenny P.  Anatalia  Villaranda vs. Missy Robinson Do you ever feel like producers pick songs that will benefit who they want to make it further into the competition? Anatalia and Missy performed “Tightrope” by Janelle Monae, but only Anatalia seemed to know the song.  Missy’s performance was just all over the place, and it was sad considering how well she performed at her audition. Alicia was put in a tough spot and ultimately stuck with Anatalia.  Missy was eliminated and sent home.  Gaby Borromeo and Mark Isaiah Gaby and Mark battled to “Pillowtalk” by Zayn Malik, and it was surprisingly very close. It seemed like a song made for Mark, but it was so much more than that. It was interesting to watch them both go at it to try and stay in the game. Sadly, Adam seemed to think Mark was the clear winner here and kept Mark in the process.  Gaby was sent packing, and we actually felt bad for her. She deserved so much better. She would have been better suited with the likes of Alicia.  Felicia Temple vs. Quizz Swanigan “Titanium” by David Guetta is not the best song to sing during a competition, but Alicia did not seem to get the memo. It was blatantly obvious Alicia kept Quizz because he’s known as the youngest contestant in the competition.  Quizz is good, but it seemed like Alicia never really thought it through. Thankfully, Felicia found a place on Team Blake, so we’re happy about that.  Ashley Levin vs. Casi Joy The show saved the best performance for last, with both women going head-to-head with a rendition of “How Blue by Reba McEntire. Pitting the two women against each other was always going to be difficult when you consider just how AMAZING they both sound.  The performance was something you would expect from finale night. It really had everything, but Blake could only keep one of the women. He kept Casi Joy.  But that resulted in some sort of bidding war between the other three coaches. Alicia took the win and added one of the most promising contestants to her team.  That’s a wrap on Part 1 of the Battle Rounds. What did you think of the decisions? Hit the comments! Warren Frost Dies; Veteran TV Star Was 91

Warren Frost, a veteran television star best known for his roles on Twin Peaks and Seinfeld, died on Friday in Middlebury, Vermont following a lengthy illness. He was 91 years old. Showtime confirmed this sad news in a statement, while Twin Peaks co-creator Mark Frost, Warren’s son, relayed the following to fans: “We’re saddened today to announce the passing of our dear old dad, Warren Frost. “From the Normandy shores on D-Day to his 50-year career on stage and screen, he remained the same humble guy from Vermont who taught us that a life devoted to telling the right kind of truths can make a real difference in the lives of others.” “We’re grateful to have shared him with the world for as long as we did.” Frost portrayed Dr. Will Hayward, the coroner who refused to perform Laura Palmer’s autopsy on the original ABC run of Twin Peaks. He came out of retirement to reprise the role in Showtime’s upcoming revival, which is scheduled to air later this year. The actor, who was born in Massachusetts, also served in the Navy during World War II and appeared on five episodes of Seinfeld as Susan Ross’ father-in-law, who often clashed with George Costanza. You may remember him as the man who went toe-to-toe with George over the existence of George’s supposed cabin in upstate New York. After breaking into the entertainment industry in New York City, Frost moved to Los Angeles in 1958 to continue working in TV, guest-starring on episodes of such hit series as Perry Mason and Dragnet. He also had roles in movies such as The Mating Game, It Started with a Kiss and Slaughterhouse-Five. In 1990, Frost joined the cast of Twin Peaks. Two years later, it was on to Seinfeld. The beloved actor also recurred on Matlock, and made a multitude appearances on shows like The Larry Sanders Show, Murphy Brown, Life Goes On, and L.A. Law. Frost retired in 2000 and moved back to Vermont, yet returned to acting to appear in the upcoming Twin Peaks revival. It debuts in May. Along with his son, Frost is survived by his wife of 68 years, Virginia, and his three kids: Mark, novelist and photographer Scott Frost, and actress and artist Lindsay Frost; as well as three grandchildren. Al Roker Bids Emotional Farewell to Tamron Hall

Well, that escalated quickly. And, based on what we've been hearing via the rumor mill, it also escalated in rather bitter fashion. Just a few weeks ago, Megyn Kelly left Fox News and joined NBC. Both the journalist and network executives then confirmed that Kelly would be hosting some kind of five-days-a-week series for her new home… and that it would air each morning, disrupting the four-hour block of Today Show programming that has been in place for yeas. Whether Kelly's show airs at 9am or 10am, it became public knowledge that Tamron Hall and Al Roker would no longer anchor their very own hour. Therefore, in response, Hall chose not to sign a new contract with NBC. “The last 10 years have been beyond anything I could have imagined, and I'm grateful. I'm also very excited about the next chapter,” Hall said via statement, adding: “To all my great colleagues, I will miss you and I will be rooting for you.” With Hall already gone from Today, Roker took a few moments this morning to address the awkward and unfortunate turn of events. “As some of you may have heard by now, our good friend Tamron Hall has decided to leave NBC News,” said the veteran weatherman. “Personally, Tamron has been not just a cohost on Today for the past three years, but a good friend – and to not just me, but to all of us here. “We want to wish her nothing but the best, much continued success, and we cannot wait to see what her next chapter is.” Watch Roker's full message in support of Hall below:

Military Veteran Fired For Missing Work To Attend Birth Of Baby Boy

Military Veteran Fired For Missing Work To Attend Birth Of Baby A military vet was fired last week after missing work to watch the birth of his baby boy reports The Concord Monitor . Lamar Austin, the former part-time security guard, was fired because he was expected to be on call 24/7 reports the news outlet. Because New Hampshire is an “at-will” employment state, an employer may generally terminate an employment relationship for part-time or full-time workers at any time and for any reason, with a few exceptions. That means Austin has little in the way of legal protection, no matter how good an excuse the birth of a child may seem, legal experts said. Sara Persechino, a mother of two in Hopkinton, doesn’t think that’s fair. Persechino was on the Hopkinton select board in 2014 when it unanimously voted in favor of paid family leave for town employees. Thankfully, generous people have come together to get money and a new job for the veteran. Check out the GoFundMe below: You can donate to the family by clicking HERE . GoFundMe/Leah Willingham
