The Voice kicked off Season 6 with a wealth of talent last night, with Adam Levine seeking his third title and Blake Shelton his fourth on the NBC show. Adam may have the upper hand, having snagged Christina Grimmie and Dawn & Hawkes, but Usher secured a key team member Monday as well. Bria Kelly, 17, threw it DOWN with a growling version of James Taylor’s “Steamroller Blues” that had all four judges vying for her. According to LA Times: Clive Davis typically has many irons in many fires. So even though he’s holed up in an elegant Beverly Hills Hotel bungalow he’s had at his disposal “forever” — the veteran producer and record executive makes a point of talking about a project especially close to his heart: a Whitney Houston live album. “Whitney never had a live album,” he said. “I really want everyone to know … exactly why during her time she was considered the greatest contemporary singer in the world. It was two years ago, on the afternoon of his Grammy eve bash, that he and the rest of the world got the word that Houston died in the very hotel where the party was being readied. “It’s a revelation to hear her,” he said, “but listening to her, the tragedy hits you again, so there are a lot of mixed emotions this brings up. “I’m going through all these recordings of her performances now, many of which I wasn’t at, such as when she was in South Africa,” said Davis, 81, dressed business casual this week in a navy V-neck sweater over a white oxford shirt and tie. “It’s a revelation: You really hear how astonishing and powerful and compelling she was in a way that wasn’t captured on the studio albums or in her movie performances.” Davis said he expects the album to be released this year. Remember when Shia LaBeouf said he was retiring from the public eye? That was SO three days ago. Following a pretty hilarious diss by Jim Carrey at the 2014 Golden Globes , LaBeouf tried to start a Twitter war with the comedian last night… only to eventually backtrack and come across like a bigger douchebag than before. It all started when Carrey mocked LaBeouf’s plagiarism scandal on stage last night, saying that “dying is easy, comedy is hard” and then adding “I believe it was Shia LaBeouf who said that. So young, so wise.” The 27-year-old actor then took to the Internet and wrote: “If you explain @JimCarrey you’ve killed him, Nobody knows if it’s for real or not. That way he’s immortal.” Ummm… okay. We guess. LaBeouf then posted a YouTube video of Jim’s daughter’s band, The Jane Carrey Band, and called the elder Carrey out for being a bad father. “At least I don’t get arrested for indecency on major LA highways! Or abandon love child’s,” Shia wrote, using improper grammar. HOWEVER, LaBeouf then did a 180, Tweeting later on that “Jim Carrey states that he is deeply involved in his daughter’s life—I accept that. Regret tweet on the matter. Apologies to both parents.” The Transformers star concluded: “I am not famous anymore.” God, how we wish that were true.
Nadya Suleman is facing eviction from her Orange County residence. But the state of California may soon have a new place for the Octomom to live: prison. Sources confirm that the mother of 14 has been charged with 14 counts of welfare fraud and faces over five years behind bars if convicted across the board. The Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office filed the count this afternoon, coming down on the amateur porn star for one count of aid by misrepresentation and two counts of perjury by false application for aid. Overall, Suleman failed to report approximately $30,000 in earnings between January and June of last year. An investigation into these welfare charges began in August and included authorities seizing payments record from Vivid, the company that produced the Octomom sex tape and, of course, paid Nadya for her naked efforts. The District Attonry is asking the judge to set bail at $25,000. We’ll update this story as news breaks.
Earlier today, we recounted the Golden Globes Best & Worst Dressed via a photo montage of stars on the red carpet. However, Lady Victoria Hervey was not included in that collection of photos because she wasn’t actually invited to the event. But also because her outfit deserves its own article. The British model and socialite attended a Golden Globes after-party hosted by Netflix and The Weinstein Company and wore a sheer dress that left VERY little to the imagination. It’s a good week to be Michael Douglas. The actor earned a Golden Globe last night for his role in HBO’s Behind the Candleabra, and he’s signed on for an even bigger movie role. Marvel insiders confirm that the veteran actor will star opposite Paul Rudd as Ant-Man in the big screen adaption of this comic. He will play the villainous Hank Pym. “With Hank Pym’s rich history in the Marvel Universe, we knew we needed an actor capable of bringing the weight and stature to the role that the character deserves,” said Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige in a statement. He continued: “We felt incredibly relieved when Michael Douglas agreed to step into the part with the charm and fortitude he brings to every character he inhabits, and couldn’t be more excited to see what he will do to bring Hank Pym to life.” Ant-Man will be released in July 2015. Orlando Bloom and Miranda Kerr have been separated and will be getting a divorce after three years of marriage, the couple has surprisingly confirmed. “In a joint statement, Orlando Bloom and Miranda Kerr have announced that they have been amicably separated for the past few months,” his rep said. Orlando Bloom and Miranda Kerr Split The British actor, 36, and Australian supermodel, 30, began dating in 2007 and quietly married in July 2010. But it’s over now and it looks like for good. The statement continued, “Despite this being the end of their marriage, they love, support and respect each other as both parents of their son and as family.” “After six years together, they have recently decided to formalize their separation.” The couple has one son, Flynn, born on January 6, 2011. They were last photographed together on October 8. Their last public appearance was at the opening of Romeo and Juliet on Broadway on September 19. Orlando Bloom and Miranda Kerr looked every bit the happy family then, so we can imagine that they will carry on through the split with their usual privacy and class. Still sad, though, and quite unexpected.
