Diddy Says G. Dep ‘Did The Right Thing’ In Confession

‘You could always feel that … maybe something was troubling his soul,’ Bad Boy mogul says of his former artist copping to 1993 shooting. By Paul Cantor Diddy Photo: Statia Photography/ Getty Images Diddy called into Sirius’ Shade 45 radio show on Tuesday (December 22) morning to talk up his latest effort, Last Train to Paris. But the rap mogul also commented on his onetime Bad Boy artist, G. Dep , who has made headlines in the last week. G. Dep (born Trevell Coleman) , recently confessed to a shooting and botched robbery attempt in 1993, only to discover from the New York Police Department that his victim, John Henkel, had died. Thirty-six-year-old G. Dep is now facing murder charges for the 17-year-old crime and was indicted on Tuesday. “You could always feel that if you knew G. Dep, and I can’t say it was that, maybe something was troubling his soul,” Diddy said. ” ‘Cause he was real quiet. He’s the type of guy who wouldn’t hurt a fly. I don’t know what happened in that instance but he did the right thing and manned up to it.” Diddy also speculated on what G. Dep’s state of mind may have been back in 1993, not long before he signed to Diddy’s record label. “He had a real bad drug problem and that could have caused the situation,” Diddy said. “As a person, that wasn’t nothing that he would do. Drugs sometimes make people slip up and make mistakes.” Dep’s drug problem may have been a motivating factor behind his startling confession to a crime that he had essentially gotten away with. On Tuesday, the New York Daily News reported that his lawyer, Michael Alperstein, indicated the confession was in step with a 12-step Narcotics Anonymous detox program in which the rapper was taking part. “The power of the 12-step program and making amends,” his lawyer said. “He’s trying to remake his life. He’s trying to clean up.” Alperstein said Dep had twice tried to confess in the past, but that cops didn’t take him seriously and asked him to come back. A police source disputed that notion, saying that Dep was “high as a kite” when he first attempted to confess over the summer, and that interviews with him had been unsuccessful. Diddy remembered G. Dep as an artist who showed real promise. “Dep was definitely one of the favorite artists I signed to Bad Boy,” he said. “That’s something I really wanted to work out, but that was just like he had personal things he was dealing with and we tried our best with that.” Related Artists Diddy G. Heidi Montag: Literally Scarred For Life!

The Hills star Heidi Montag sought perfection when she underwent 10 plastic surgery procedures in one day late last year. Safe to say that didn’t work out. “Parts of my body definitely look worse than they did presurgery,” she tells Life & Style in the tabloid’s new cover story. “This is not what I signed up for.” That’s just too bad… except that it’s EXACTLY WHAT SHE SIGNED UP FOR. You don’t go for a routine physical and stumble into this by accident, idiot. Look what they did to me! Feel sorry for me! Only Heidi Montag would try to have a plastic surgeon make her into a human Barbie doll , then decide that might have been going a little overboard, then try to play the victim and milk it for even more publicity and money later. Makes it difficult to feel very sympathetic, we’ll be honest. In the magazine, she details her plastic surgery disaster : Unsightly scars. Red inflammation. Uneven body parts. Lumpy legs. Jagged marks. Botched liposuction. For Heidi, this decision has left indelible marks. LITERALLY. “The big dark mark from my chin reduction is probably the most noticeable. The absolute worst is on my breasts, and the scariest is below my butt cheeks,” Heidi says. “People have fewer scars from car accidents than I have on my body.” The only difference? No one gets into car accidents on purpose. At least she admits, to her credit, that she really blew it: “I would love to not be ‘plastic girl’ or whatever they call me. Surgery ruined my career and my personal life and just brought a lot of negativity into my world. I wish I could jump into a time machine and take it all back,” the ‘Tag laments. “Instead, I’m always going to feel like Edward Scissorhands.” Don’t be so dramatic, Heids … the career was already over .

Lindsay Lohan Plays Victim Card in Rehab Brawl; Dawn Holland Fired By Betty Ford

Lindsay Lohan claims the Betty Ford staff member who alleges battery by the star “had it out for her” and was so abusive that she made Lohan cry. Dawn Holland, who was just fired, says otherwise. A chemical dependency technician, Holland says Lindsay attacked her physically and caused her to sprain her arm so severely she’s on workers’ comp. Lindsay is telling her friends and family, when she returned to the house, Holland grabbed her abruptly and pushed her so hard, Lindsay began to cry. AS ALWAYS : Lindsay Lohan is the victim! [Photo: Pacific Coast News] Lohan also notes, for starters, that she wasn’t even with her two roommates hours before the incident that triggered the staffer’s battery allegation. Lindsay says was out getting her hair done … around midnight. That’s obviously true. Wherever she was, she broke curfew and all hell broke loose. Holland says Lohan refused to take a breathalyzer, whereas the troubled star says she actually asked Holland to give her a test but Holland refused. That’s when things got really heated . Holland says in the heat of the argument, Lindsay “threw the phone … I threw up my left hand to block it and then she grabbed my right hand and tried to snatch the phone that I had up to my ear, then called me a ‘C**T B***H.'” Holland says she told Lindsay, whose code name at the clinic is Bella G., “You know I could press charges against you for putting your hands on me.” “And she replied ‘Oh, you just want money.'” Lindsay Lohan claims there were not only witnesses that saw it, there are surveillance cameras to prove her story. Time will tell if that’s the case. For what it’s worth, Dawn Holland was embroiled in a bitter divorce last year. Her husband accused her of battery following allegations of cheating. Dawn’s husband claims she “lost control, broke up a lot of my personal property and attacked me, kicking me in the leg and causing a contusion.” For her part, Dawn claims her hubby viciously attacked her on several occasions. Now divorced, she has a restraining order against her ex-husband.

G. Dep Says He Didn’t Know Shooting Victim Died

The former Bad Boy rapper says he didn’t think the man he confessed to shooting 17 years ago died from his injuries. By Paul Cantor G. Dep Photo: Denise Truscello/WireImage Just days after confessing to committing a murder 17 years ago, rapper G.Dep said he didn’t know his victim, 32-year-old John Henkel, who he shot three times after a botched robbery attempt back in 1993, had actually died. In an interview with The New York Post , Dep, born Trevell Coleman, said the police informed him of this fact when he walked into the 25th precinct to confess on Wednesday. “I was surprised — for some reason, I really didn’t think that he died,” Dep told the Post from jail. “When they told me, I was like, ‘Oh, I’m not going home after this.’ ” Manhattan District Attorney’s Office spokesperson Erin Duggan said Dep is charged with murder, and faces life in prison if convicted. Dep maintained that guilt drove him to confess to a crime that he initially appeared to get away with. “I didn’t think about it,” he said of his thought process at the time of the shooting. “That’s just the life I was living back then. [But] I started to wonder if all the bad things that happened to me in my life were karma for what I did . . . you start to think ‘My happiness is because of someone else’s sadness.’ I thought that if I turned myself in, it might give me closure.” By confessing, Dep went against the wishes of his family, and left others puzzled by his logic. “I told my mom and my girlfriend that I wanted to confess, and they both told me to leave it in the past,” he said. “People in [jail] don’t understand how you can confess. I’m just trying to get right with God. The only thing I regret is that I have to leave my kids.” NYPD Commissioner Ray Kelly wasn’t wholly convinced. “Maybe he had a pang of conscience,” he said. “We’ll take it any way we can get it.” Citing law enforcement officials, the Post reports that Dep has been arrested over 30 times, most recently for trespassing with drugs on city housing property in November. Dep has also reportedly battled drug addiction. After his grandmother died four years ago, Dep is said to have turned to the drug PCP to help him cope. In September, he detailed his struggles with drug addiction in an interview with XXL magazine. “Things were going wild with the label,” he said. “I just kind of fell back into street mode. I can’t fault anybody. I just fell victim to my own gluttony.” The rapper was once part of the stable of artists on Diddy’s Bad Boy Records. He released his debut LP, Child of the Ghetto, in 2001, but was dropped a few years later. In 2004 he dropped a mixtape, The Deputy: The Sheriff Is Back in Town Volume 1, but has since maintained a low profile in the music scene. Related Artists G. Dep

Woman flogged in Sudan by laughing policeman cause outrage

Sudan's judiciary has launched an investigation into the public flogging of a woman after footage of her being whipped repeatedly by laughing policemen was posted on the web.The YouTube video shows an unidentified woman in a long black dress and a headscarf being ordered to sit down in a parking lot surrounded by policemen and bystanders who do not intervene.A uniformed policeman proceeds to whip her all over her body as she screams in pain and begs them to stop. A second officer laughs when he realises he is being filmed, before joining in whipping the woman, the punishment lasts a minute and a half.Flogging is fairly common is northern Sudan, where sharia law is often enforced arbitrarily. But the cruel and nonchalant behaviour of the security forces and the distress of the victim in this case caused a stir in the country and amongst Sudanese in exile, it has even attracted condemnation in some pro-government newspapers. added by: sbacker
