Jeffrey Ross Dreses Like Joe Paterno, Cracks Colorado Shooting Jokes at Comedy Central Roast

Jeffrey Ross arrived for the Comedy Central Roast of Roseanne Barr yesterday dressed as Joe Paterno and accompanied by two young boys in only Penn State helmets and a towel. To many, though, this get-up was actually NOT the most offensive act by the comedian during the event. Still wearing his costume, Ross took to the podium and addressed a red-haired Seth Greene with a clear reference to alleged Colorado shooter James Holmes : “Congratulations,” Ross said to Green. “This is actually a really big night for you. You haven’t gotten this much attention since you shot all those people in Aurora.” To a mixture of boos and scattered applause, Ross then added: “I’m kidding! You’re not like James Holmes. At least he’s doing something in a movie theater that people remember.” Zing … ouch … and totally inappropriate ? Ross’ attempt at humor came a week after Dane Cook also made a stand-up joke about the incident, although at least Ross focused his quips on Holmes. Cook actually made fun of the victims. Still, even Roseanne herself said afterward that Ross “crossed the line,” adding: “But comedy is about moving the line… And where is the line in a country that has freedom of speech? Maybe there isn’t one.” Do you agree? What do you think of Ross’ jokes?

While under the influence of PAINT THINNER, allegedly. More than half a year after the January 15 incident, TMZ says prosecutors finally decided there was evidence to charge Kasey Kahl with felony assault. Kahl, who also starred on 2011’s Bachelor Pad 2, has been charged with felony assault, battery with serious bodily injury, and drunken disorderliness . Police believe Kahl was under the influence of both alcohol and a drug called toluene – an inhalant associated with paint thinners – during the attack. Reps for the ex of Vienna Girardi have maintained he’s innocent and say the victims are “antagonizing” him in a bid to get “15 minutes of fame.”

Christopher Nolan Responds to Dark Knight Rises Tragedy, Expresses "Profound Sorrow"

For the time time since the deadly Colorado shooting that took 12 lives, someone associated with The Dark Knight Rises has spoken out. And that someone is director Christopher Nolan. “Speaking on behalf of the cast and crew of The Dark Knight Rises , I would like to express our profound sorrow at the senseless tragedy that has befallen the entire Aurora community,” Nolan said, adding: “I would not presume to know anything about the victims of the shooting, but that they were there last night to watch a movie. “I believe movies are one of the great American art forms and the shared experience of watching a story unfold on screen is an important and joyful pastime. The movie theatre is my home, and the idea that someone would violate that innocent and hopeful place in such an unbearably savage way is devastating to me. Nothing any of us can say could ever adequately express our feelings for the innocent victims of this appalling crime, but our thoughts are with them and their families.” James Holmes is in custody for the crime, which tragically took place just miles from the 1999 school shooting incident in Columbine, Colorado.

Stars React to Colorado Shooting, Push for Gun Control Laws

Amidst the sadness and shock over the fatal Aurora, Colorado shooting at a Dark Knight Rises screening early Friday morning, many celebrities have taken to Twitter to express their sympathy for the victims and their families. Many have also used this as an opportunity to push for stricter gun laws, an area in which President Barack Obama has been considered a total failure by The Brady Center to Prevent Gun Violence. Here is a sampling of star Tweets on the matter. Read through them and share your take with us now: Cory Monteith : guns don’t kill people, people do etc.. but until we can fix society somehow you probably shouldn’t be able to buy AR-15’s at a fishing shop … such a senseless tragedy. when are we going to reconsider the role of guns in society? how many more times does this have to happen? Susan Sarandon : The right to bear arms was referring to muskets. Maybe it’s time to re-think our gun policy on this day of slaughter in Colorado. Piers Morgan : Lunatics like this will always try and get guns. It should be 100,000 times harder than it is for them to do so. That’s my point. Miley Cyrus (in a retweet): Less guns = less psychopaths who can get guns = less innocent lives lost….seems pretty obvious to me. Chris Daughtry : Stricter gun laws will not stop SICK people from getting access to guns…Laws & rules are not in the forefront of the mind of a criminal. John Leguizamo : My heart goes 2 all the victims families in colorado. No one should have to go thru that. When r we gonna get guns removed in this country?! Bryan Greenberg : People against gun control are you kidding me?! Don’t even try to justify having a AR-15 for personal use. Not necessary!! Josh Hopkins : Dear news media, In reporting about tragedy in Colorado please do less about ‘does Batman promote violence’ & more about gun control. Thanks.

James Holmes to Police: I’m The Joker

We have a disturbing update on James Holmes , the 24-year old suspected of killing 12 people and injuring dozens more inside an Aurora, Colorado movie theater this morning. The shooting took place at approximately 12:38 a.m. local time. Holmes protected himself with a ballistic helmet, a vest, a throat protector, a gas mask and black tactical gloves Officials believe Holmes acted on his own: “We are not looking for any other suspects,” said Oates. “We are confident he acted alone.” Holmes possessed three weapons when he was arrested behind the theater: an AR-15 assault rifle, a Remington shotgun and a 40-caliber Glock handgun. All were purchased legally. Holmes’ hair was painted red and he told police, upon being apprehended, that he was “The Joker.” At last count, 71 people were wounded in this gunman’s attack . President Obama addressed the nation earlier today, honoring the victims and asking America’s to treasure the fragility of life . Mitt Romney, meanwhile, has also made a speech in which he offered his “deepest condolences” to those affected by the tragedy and added: “I stand before you today not as a man running for office but as a father and grandfather, a husband, an American. This is a time for each of us to look into our hearts and remember how much we love one another and how much we love and how much we care for our great country. There’s so much love and goodness in the heart of America.”
