Emily VanCamp Covers Lucky, Hates Stoners

Beautiful Revenge star Emily VanCamp covers the new issue of Lucky … but don’t even think about getting lucky with her if you’re some lazy dude. “I’ll tell you one thing I don’t want [in a man],” the actress says in the June issue. “A guy who sits around and plays video games and smokes pot.” VanCamp does reveal she’s attracted to a paternal kind of guy. “I think women look for that quality in a man of being a good dad whether they’re immediately wanting to be a parent or not,” the 25-year-old says. “It’s important to me that a man is good at taking care of people.” If any non-stoner, potential dads-of-the-year are interested, they should know that VanCamp is unwittingly becoming a celebrity gossip stable. “It’s so great to have all this stuff happen to you,” she says of her success. “But to all of a sudden have photographers snapping photos of you, it’s a big change. You know, I see pictures of myself I had no idea were being taken. I’m generally very aware of what’s going on around me. I really don’t know where they hide.” Speaking of shady people hiding things … follow the link for Revenge spoilers !

The 10 Most Influential Film Personalities on Time’s 100 Most Influential List, In Order

For the 14th consecutive year, the folks at Time Magazine have once again passed me over when considering their annual roster of the world’s 100 Most Influential People . Heretics! So be it — even an incomplete list is worth visiting judgment upon. Let’s check out (and rank, naturally) the film personalities included this year. And to my publicist: You’re fired! 10. Chelsea Handler * 9. Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy 8. Asghar Farhadi 7. Claire Danes 6. Jessica Chastain 5. Viola Davis 4. Kristen Wiig 3. Louis C.K. 2. Tilda Swinton 1. Harvey Weinstein As for the rest of the list? I defer to Harvey . *: As long as Chelsea Handler makes terrible ethnic jokes at mainstream movie junkets, she will be a film personality. And the least-influential to boot. Follow S.T. VanAirsdale on Twitter . Follow Movieline on Twitter .

Wreck-It Ralph Teaser Poster: 8-Bit Baddie Goes Good

Video games have inspired many a movie in the post-Atari age, but Disney’s CG-animated November adventure Wreck-It Ralph puts a spin on things: It follows an 8-bit villain named Wreck-It Ralph (voiced by John C. Reilly) who escapes the confines of his video game and journeys through the arcade to prove he’s got what it takes to be a hero. As such, the early art work has been retro-tastic, and this week’s new teaser poster is no different. Take a gander and get ready to explain to the iPhone-toting, Tweet-happy kiddies what “8-bit” means. The synopsis: Walt Disney Animation Studios and Emmy®-winning director Rich Moore (TV’s “The Simpsons,” “Futurama”) take moviegoers on a hilarious, arcade-game-hopping journey in “Wreck-It Ralph.” Ralph (voice of John C. Reilly, “Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby,” “Step Brothers”) is tired of being overshadowed by Fix-It Felix (voice of Jack McBrayer, “30 Rock”), the “good guy” star of their game who always gets to save the day. But after decades doing the same thing andseeing all the glory go to Felix, Ralph decides he’s tired of playing the role of a bad guy. He takes matters into his own massive hands and sets off on a game-hopping journey across the arcade through every generation of video games to prove he’s got what it takes to be a hero. On his quest, he meets the tough-as-nails Sergeant Calhoun (voice of Jane Lynch, TV’s “Glee”) from the first-person action game Hero’s Duty. But it’s the feisty misfit Vanellope von Schweetz (voice of Sarah Silverman, “The Sarah Silverman Program”) from the candy-coated cart racing game, Sugar Rush, whose world is threatened when Ralph accidentally unleashes a deadly enemy that threatens the entire arcade. Will Ralph realize his dream and save the day before it’s too late? Wreck-It Ralph hits theaters on November 2. Follow Jen Yamato on Twitter . Follow Movieline on Twitter .

Embattled pop princess Lana Del Rey ‘s performance of “Video Games,” a track off her debut album, Born to Die , was featured on Thursday’s “American Idol” . Supposed Expose Movie Obama College Years Turns Out Dud! [Video]

SMH@This movie maker: Andrew Breitbart’s promised video of Barack Obama’s college days at Harvard University was released in full on Sean Hannity’s Fox News show on Wednesday night—and unlike the late conservative provocateur’s other video hits, this one appears to be a bit of a dud. The video—which sent some conservatives into a frenzy when Breitbart told an audience at the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) last month that he had the footage—shows Obama, then a Harvard law student, introducing former Harvard Law Professor Derrick Bell, who Breitbart.com editor-in-chief Joel Pollak called the “Jeremiah Wright of academia.” Harvard law professor Charles Ogletree had the footage from 1990 and is shown presenting it to an audience after the 2008 election. “We hid this during the 2008 campaign,” Ogletree can be heard saying. “I don’t care if they find it now.” Pollak and conservatives contend that the video is another example of Obama’s history of chumminess with radicals, and the proof of the left’s continuing efforts to cover it up. But as PBS’ Andrew Golis noted, “there’s nothing new about the clip or Obama’s role in the controversy at Harvard Law School.” “In 2008, as a part of our quadrennial election special The Choice 2008,” Golis wrote, “Frontline ran the same footage of the speech as a part of an exploration of Obama’s time at Harvard Law School, where he graduated in 1991. It’s been online at our site and on YouTube since then.” Golis added that Frontline obtained the footage from the archives of WGBH, PBS’ Boston affiliate. (More on the back story.) “Is that it?” Soledad O’Brien asked Pollak in an interview on Thursday morning. “What part of that was the bombshell? Because I missed it.” Pollack responded: “The bombshell is the revelation of the relationship between Obama and Derrick Bell … [Derrick Bell] passed away last year, but during his lifetime he developed a theory called critical race theory, which holds that the Civil Rights movement was a sham and that white supremacy is the order and it must be overthrown.” The interview quickly devolved into an argument over the definition of critical race theory, with Jay Thomas, a Sirius radio host and a panelist on O’Brien’s show, jumping into the fray. “Can I say something as a white person?” Thomas asked Pollak. “What are you frightened of? Are you frightened that some black people are going to do something to you? … What do you think Barack Obama’s going to do? Is there a secret black movement that’s going to start killing white people?” The conversation got worse from there. “I’m glad you played the racism card,” Pollak fired back. “You’ve accused me of being a racist. You’ve accused me of being afraid of black people. And it doesn’t deserve a response. But let me respond anyway. I’m not afraid black people are going to be violent and take over the country. What I’m pointing out is that there’s a pattern in Barack Obama’s associations with Derrick Bell, with Reverend Wright, and it carries over into his governance because his Justice Department won’t treat black civil rights violators the same way it treats white civil rights violators.” Journalists took to Twitter to poke fun at the controversy. “Breitbart’s CPAC speech = Lana Del Ray’s ‘Video Games’ video,” Slate’s Dave Weigel wrote on Twitter. “Actual Obama tape = Lana Del Ray on ‘SNL.’” On CNN, Pollak promised more footage and more bombshells from Breitbart’s archives. “This is the beginning of a vetting process that begins with Andrew Breitbart’s probe into Barack Obama’s time in Chicago and will continue,” he said. This video is comedy…

Lana Del Rey Performs on The Late Show, Does Not Suck

Lana Del Rey set the bar very low for herself on Saturday Night Live a few weeks ago. It may have been an embarrassing setback for the singer – whose debut album dropped on January 31 – but there’s this silver lining on that cloud of stiff singing: at least the burgeoning star can’t ever do worse again. She proved that last night on The Late Show with David Letterman , belting out a rendition of “Video Games” and showing serious improvement. Watch Del Rey in action now and decide: will you purchase her CD? Lana Del Rey – Video Games (The Late Show with David Letterman)

Lana Del Rey Calls Performing On Television ‘Weird’

‘Sometimes it seems more important to me than other times,’ Del Rey told MTV News before her ‘Saturday Night Live’ debut. By James Montgomery Lana Del Rey performs “Video Games” on “SNL” on Saturday Photo: NBC Lana Del Rey’s “Saturday Night Live” performance was divisive, to say the very least, as she seemed to battle nerves (and some rather shaky vocal moments), circumstances that only gave more ammunition to her critics. Of course, to be fair, given her rather meteoric rise to the mainstream, Del Rey hasn’t exactly had a ton of time to develop her stage presence, though, as previous television appearances — like this “Later Live … with Jools Holland” performance from October — prove, she’s certainly capable of much more than she showcased on “SNL” (at least vocally). Still, Del Rey will be the first to admit that she’s yet to truly be at ease when it comes to performing on television. In fact, she finds the entire process to be, well, a little off-putting, as she told MTV News last week. “I find it weird … sometimes. [It] depends on the day,” Del Rey said. “You know, like, [it] depends on what’s going on with my family and everyone around me. If I have other things to think about, or I’m trying to get things done for somebody else, and I’m not in my own way, then … I’m like, ‘This doesn’t really matter.’ Sometimes it seems more important to me than other times, I don’t know.” And though, at the time, she couldn’t have predicted how her “SNL” performance would turn out — she said she wasn’t even sure which songs she’d be singing — Del Rey said that, no matter what happened, and despite how weird she may find the entire TV experience, she’s just trying to enjoy the ride. “Things are cool. They always will be, whether the music goes good or not,” she said. “Like, I consider being able to sing a luxury, it doesn’t run my life, it’s not my main focus. I love it, I feel grateful. I’m honored to be on ‘SNL’ I’m happy to be here, but if I didn’t have it, I’d be happy too.” What did you think of Lana Del Rey’s “SNL” debut? Share your thoughts on our Facebook page. Lana Del Ray Struggles Through Saturday Night Live Performance [Video]

Poor Lana Del Ray. The singer seems perfectly nice, and she clearly has some talent, but the artist was overwhelmed on her Saturday Night Live debut yesterday, shifting awkwardly from foot to foot during a rendition of “Video Games,” randomly rubbing her hip, lacking any and all energy or emotion. Del Ray mumbled in to the microphone and rushed through her lyrics, as the faces of her backup band members even look horrified on her behalf. See the trainwreck for yourself and join us in wishing Lana better luck next time. If there is a next time for her, that is… Lana Del Ray SNL Performance
