Folks who didn’t watch the VMAs on Sunday because they were too busy watching relatives bone on Game of Thrones or escaping rising floodwaters, answer this: What did you hear, after-the-fact, about Katy Perry? Katy Perry was the host, and she was just … not overwhelming. No huge controversies, sure, but not even Katy’s terrible opening monologue was especially memorable. That’s a problem for Katy, but it might be an even bigger problem for American Idol producers, who are reportedly very concerned that they’re paying $25 million to Katy Perry to be a judge only for her to flop. On Sunday, I had friends over, and they mentioned that traffic was especially slow near my home. Why? Because American Idol auditions were in town. Yes, in case you’ve managed to forget, American Idol is coming back, like some archetypal horde that people thought had been defeated. The biggest stir of publicity about it is Katy Perry’s salary of $25 million. Don’t get us wrong, she’s a big-time celebrity who’s hosted the Superbowl, which is probably what the American Idol producers and the network were thinking when they hired her. What they clearly weren’t thinking about: One, that Katy Perry was singing for her Superbowl Halftime show, which is very different from sitting at a table and talking and judging. Two, that Katy Perry was pretty famously upstaged at that show by Left Shark . You didn’t forget Left Shark, did you? Well now, RadarOnline is reporting that ABC higher ups and American Idol showrunners are worried that they made a mistake by hiring Katy Perry to be a judge. It sounds like they’re panicking, actually. RadarOnline ‘s source reports that her lackluster hosting over the weekend is what has them so concerned. “They are paying her $25 million and she was a total dud [on the VMAs].” You might be wondering how they didn’t catch it earlier, right? Here’s how: “No one ever auditioned her for the new Idol job and they are freaking out that they hired someone who is terrible on live television.” Oh dear! Usually, if you get a job without applying for it (or auditioning, in this case), it’s because someone who’s seen your work up close before (maybe a coworker or a former boss) is either doing the hiring or has vouched for you. It sounds like Katy was just offered the gig, sight unseen. ABC had already had concerns, RadarOnline had previously reported, that Katy Perry might upstage contestants. (Like Mariah Carey) Or that she might just need to tone down … not her look, but her very attention-grabbing personality. (As far as we can tell, that’s not a euphemism for her boobs) Judges are supposed to evaluate contestants, not overshadow them. Now, though, it sounds like ABC and American Idol are afraid that Katy’s just going to fall flat like she did at the VMAs. Just because someone is good at singing and performing doesn’t mean that they’re good at talking on camera. Similarly, like, just because someone’s great at giving interview or interviewing people doesn’t mean that they have a dazzling singing voice or would make an amazing performer. This should be a lesson to us all, we suppose: make sure that you hire the best and most highly recommended babysitter or dog-walker or whatever. Not just the one who happens to be hot. You know how Farrah Abraham is shamelessly plugging vaginal rejuvenation on Instagram? In addition to questions over why the 26-year-old would possibly need the procedure (leading some to wonder if she might be having incontinence issues), the fact that Farrah was posting about it at all stirred up controversy. Well, now Farrah’s responded to the backlash, so … brace yourselves. Okay, so as we mentioned, Farrah posted a little video of herself consulting with a conspicuously made up doctor who talked to her about the procedure. The procedure involves moving a wand of sorts in and out of Farrah’s vagina for several minutes. This isn’t the first time that Farrah Abraham’s gotten her vagina rejuvenated , folks. “What this does is distributes little wounds through radio frequency which kind of breaks up the collagen and forces it to restore during that healing process, so everything becomes tighter and you actually experience …” And then Farrah Abraham, to our cringing horror, says “Like I’m 16 again!” (Let’s not hold up 16-year-old girls as some sort of sexual ideal, because that is incredibly gross, folks) Folks on the interwebs did not hold back their thoughts about Farrah, either, even criticizing her in the context of being a mother. Though the procedure described was not surgical, one follower thought that it set a bad example for Farrah’s 8-year-old. “My god … poor little Sophia. A mother who ‘loves’ her body so much she altered every bit of it. Great example. I hope Sophia will grow into a strong and independent woman who does not need her ‘mother’ to be around.” Again, this is not the same as a boob job or a nose job, though there are surgical forms of vaginal rejuvenation. “Farrah why? I understand you’re a mom and need the procedure for personal reasons but why make it public? Have respect as a mother for your child and for others.” As we mentioned, though vaginas almost always revert to their previous size after childbirth, the treatment that Farrah received could be used to attempt to treat postpartum incontinence. Another was perplexed why a woman Farrah’s age would need any sort of “rejuvenation.” “Aren’t you like 25? Why do you need this?” Farrah is 26, but that is “like 25” and the question remains reasonable. But Farrah spoke out against the controversy that she herself created with her posts. “My lady parts are happy.” How nice for them? “I don’t know. I just like to share things, especially if it’s good and health related and I don’t know. Today though it’s just about fashion, Sophia and I’m just proud of this little baby boss.” Before she deflects to her daughter (yeah, we saw that), Farrah explains what looks like a clear advertisement as part of her fondness for sharing things. One, it was probably an ad. Two, it seems like she loves negative attention. “I think it’s just best to ignore negativity and only welcome positivity in your life and I think that shows for Sophia and hopefully myself over the years and I’m just really happy about that.” That sounds like a positive message. If you’re thinking that Farrah sounds like a great mom, though, remember that she admitted to forgetting Sophia in a store . Which is difficult to imagine. “I would say I do that by complimenting her and making sure she feels secure — whether it’s with her eyebrows or whatever it may be.” Didn’t Farrah pluck and wax her daughter’s unibrow when Sophia was still preschool aged? If Sophia has insecurities about her eyebrows, we think that we can identify their source. Now, there’s a lot to criticize about Farrah that’s totally fair game. But, though nobody wants to hear about it, she can alter her flesh prison as much as she likes. If we want to have choice words about Farrah Abraham, we can talk about how obnoxious she can be. Or about how she sets feminism back by another year every time that she tries to mask her Lena Dunham-like quest for negative attention by wrapping it in the flag of female empowerment. Or, better yet, you can raise hell about Farrah Abraham’s disgusting and racist antics on reality television. What she does with her vagina, though, is pretty much up to her. Along with music, Hov has released music videos, short doc “Footnotes,” as well as a detailed interview on Rap Radar’s podcast. It’s no surprise if the people Jigga talks about on the project will have something to say. Apparently, one of these people was his mom. Jigga raps about his mom’s sexuality on the track “Smile,” spitting, ““Mama had four kids, but she’s a lesbian / Had to pretend so long that she’s a thespian.” According to Jay-Z, Ms. Gloria Carter wasn’t happy about her personal life being spilled on wax. Jigga talked about it on Rap Radar, saying, “We had a beautiful conversation that led to me making that song and I didn’t have permission to make that song. When she first heard the song, she was like, ‘Absolutely not.’ I was like, ‘This is so important. So many people in the world are hiding. Or, perhaps we should more accurately say, it’s a different artist’s fan base. On Friday afternoon, Swift unveiled a music video teaser for “Look at What You Made Me Do,” two days ahead of when the full video will premiere at the MTV Video Music Awards. You can check it out HERE . It doesn’t reveal very much. But it has revealed enough to severely anger the Beyhive, the loyal group of Beyonce fans who worship at the feet of the world’s most popular solo singer… … and who have now set their sights on Swift. Taylor Swift – “Look at What You Made Me Do” In one frame from her video teaser, Swift is dressed in a black leotard and fishnet tights while leading a group of male dancers who are all rocking similar looks. The footage appears to be set in an ornate ballroom. Critics, meanwhile, are pointing to Beyonce’s Lemonade visual album as a comparison. In the video for the Beyonce track “Sorry,” the superstar and Serena Williams dance in the halls of a lavish Louisiana plantation… while wearing – you guessed it! – black leotards. Queen Bey also donned the look with a contingent of similarly dressed backup dancers during her performance of “Formation” at Super Bowl 50. One fan tweeted side-by-side screen shots of Swift’s “Look What You Made Me Do” teaser and video from Lemonade, captioning it “Lemonade and Minute Maid.” Ouch. That’s harsh. But is it fair? Added Beyonce fan added: “Taylor Swift wanna be Beyoncé so bad.” Taylor has received A LOT backlash for this new single, which many Internet users believe to be petty and simply not very catchy. It also has a very dark tone. Kylie Jenner … well, the girl has been a little difficult lately. Or, at the very least, it’s been difficult to find any redeeming qualities about her lately. Besides, you know, her hot bod and all. It’s not that Kylie has ever been super likeable or anything — and that’s not shade, that’s a fact — but things have gotten worse since her reality show, Life of Kylie, began airing. In many scenes in the show, she comes off like an ungrateful, whiny brat, to be honest. Remember that time that she explained that she felt like an outcast ? Even though she’s insanely popular and beloved by youths all around the world? Or how about the time that she whined about how everyone copied her fun hair colors — that was tough to watch, wasn’t it? There was also that time that she laid in bed moaning about how the tabloids dared to discuss her dating life. How dare they? It’s not like she’s intentionally putting her personal life out there for everyone to … oh, wait, that’s exactly what she’d doing. It’s just exhausting, and the show just began airing recently. But, judging by this new interview she did with V magazine to accompany those “nude” photos , she’s not saving all the complaining for television! About those photos, Kylie says “That was actually my first super nude shoot. I always post sexy pictures, but have never really gone nude.” Though the shoot is pretty scandalous, and you definitely get an eye-full of bare boob underneath sheer lingerie, we’d argue that she’s still not “super nude” in the pics. It’s still cool though, so she gets a pass so far. But then she’s asked about her many, many wigs, and she says “All I know is that when I go into weave stores, they have colors that I’ve worn, which is cool.” And we already have to stop her. Girl, stop acting like you invented blue hair. Just stop. It’s embarrassing. There’s no denying that she’s a trendsetter, but so are many, many other celebrities who’ve dared to rock hair that isn’t blonde, brown, or black. Still, she says that “Back then, I dyed my hair blue and teal and other colors. I would do meet and greets and every other girl — even guys — had teal hair.” “They’d be like, ‘I did this because of you! Everyone has teal hair now!'” In addition to inventing teal hair, Kylie is also responsible for the careers of countless rappers and singers. “Other artists shout me out that I’ve never met before,” she explains, “like, ‘I owe this to Kylie for putting this on her Snapchat.'” “And meeting new artists in person and them saying, ‘This was a big help from you, you playing my song’ — it’s just really cool.” She then tells the story behind one of her many tiny tattoos — the one on her hip of the phonetic spelling of the word “sanity.” She says that when she got the tattoo “that I felt a little bit like I was going insane. Or, I was going to.” It was right about the time she turned 18 when she got the tattoo, and to be fair, it did seem to be a pretty intense time for her. “I thought about it for a while,” she adds. “I just like the word ‘sanity’ — just stay sane through it all.” “A lot of young stars who grow up in the spotlight have a really hard time. I didn’t want that to be me.” And speaking of the spotlight, it sounds like she’s getting a little sick of it. “I just want a lot of property,” Kylie says about her future retirement. “That seems like the best life ever: horses and a farm and a garden.” It sounds like she might even pull a Michael Jackson and get a house in Bahrain! Or, well, she says “I don’t know about Bahrain, but I would be down for something. It would be a good feeling to just live a normal life for a second.” “I don’t know what it’s like to not be in the spotlight,” she continues. “That’s normal to me.
