Leah Messer: Yup, I’m a Hot Mess Mom!

Leah Messer’s drama-filled days are well and truly behind her and the Teen Mom 2 star is looking to the future as she continues to change her life. For the better. If you told us a year ago that Leah would be turning her life around, we would have definitely laughed it off because of all the crazy things she was doing.  Leah recently took to Instagram  to reveal that her children had tired her out during their visit and admitted that she’s a “hot mess mom.” The part in which she calls herself a “hot mess mom” probably refers to how tired she was after the visit. Well, we hope that’s what she meant by it.  Leah revealed on Instagram: “This was after all the kiddos left. This momma was exhausted, but so happy they all had a great time at their slumber/birthday party!”  Sounds like things are going well, which is certainly a refreshing change of pace for the West Virginia native after the events of the past year. Ever since  Teen Mom 2 Season 7 aired, fans have questioned Leah’s parenting after a string of events that played out on the show.  One of them involved Leah allegedly not feeding her children breakfast before school, while others involved conflict with her ex-husbands. It sounds completely terrible, but Leah seemed to think all of this hate was down to the editing done by MTV producers. Does she have a point? The reality TV cameras probably film her for many hours a day, so producers will want to make a story out of that footage.  It appears as though Leah’s story for that season was to show off that she was a terrible mother and portray only one side of her. She’s not alone in this argument. View Slideshow: Leah Messer Bad Parenting Excuse Hall of Fame If you recall, Jenelle Evans has also blasted the editing in the Teen Mom franchise over the course of the past several years. With Leah turning her life around, she recently confirmed that there would be little to no drama for her on the upcoming season of the hit series.  Messer will be returning to school at some point in 2017.  On top of that, she is launching a new business with two friends. That business will be in the lipstick industry.  Leah took to Instagram to show off just how resilient the lipstick is. What do you think about all of this? Sound off below! Demi Lovato Announces Retirement in Wake of Taylor Swift Controversy

Demi Lovato announced today that she’ll be stepping away from the spotlight, seemingly in response to criticism over comments she made about fellow singer Taylor Swift in a recent interview with Cosmo . Lovato has been feuding with Swift for several months now, and while Taylor has refrained from addressing the beef publicly, Lovato has taken every opportunity to make her feelings known. It all started when Lovato slammed Swift as a “fake feminist”  back in February. In the months that followed, Lovato passed on opportunities to apologize, telling Refinery 29 in May that she simply doesn’t “get along with” the 26-year-old pop icon. Today, Demi doubled-down on her remarks, once again accusing Taylor of “branding” herself a feminist but failing to put her beliefs into practice. She followed that up with a bizarre attack on the physiques of Taylor’s “squad” members . “I don’t see anybody in any sort of squad that has a normal body,” Demi said. “It’s kind of this false image of what people should look like. And what they should be like, and it’s not real.” Naturally, Swift devotees were quick to attack on social media, but Demi refused to back down” “I get asked questions. I answer them. Sue me,” the 24-year-old singer tweeted this afternoon. “Also, don’t forget that words can be taken out of context when doing interviews.” She later added: “I don’t understand why people care so much about what I say in interviews? Do y’all watch the news? Don’t y’all got shit to worry about?” Yes, the old ” How dare you people have an opinion on this public thing I did! ” argument. Usually a sure sign that a celeb is feeling to pressure to issue a retraction. It seems Demi is sticking to the “sorry, not sorry” script, however, as it appears she choosing to (at least temporarily) step away from music rather than kowtow to Swift’s legion of angry fans: “So excited for 2017. Taking a break from music and the spotlight,” Demi tweeted moments ago. “I am not meant for this business and the media.” View Slideshow: 22 Times Demi Lovato Has Kept It Real Historically, young musicians have all the resolve of Brett Favre when it comes to sticking to a retirement plan, especially when the decision is made in haste. Lovato is likely to some flak if she returns to the industry within the next few weeks, but know millions of fans are hoping she won’t be gone for long.

Vice Presidential Debate 2016: Who Won, Tim Kaine or Mike Pence?!

Democrat Tim Kaine and Republican Mike Pence went toe-to-toe on the debate stage for the first and only time Tuesday night.  As the major parties’ Vice Presidential candidates sought to make their case for their respective tickets, the stakes could not be higher. And the Winner is? Tim Kaine Click Here To Vote for Tim Mike Pence Click Here To Vote for Mike Tim Kaine or Mike Pence? Which Vice Presidential candidate won his first and only debate of 2016?   View Poll » Last Monday, after many months of hype,  Donald Trump met Hillary Clinton in the most-watched presidential debate in history. Trump’s dutiful cable TV minions and unscientific,  unreliable online polls aside, the consensus was that the Donald imploded. He came in virtually tied with the Democratic standard bearer, only to derail his White House bid with 90 minutes of word vomit. The bad news for Mike Pence, the Indiana Governor and #2 man on the Republican ticket? He has to clean up after this disaster. The good news? Trump is still only 4-5 points down and has bounced back multiple times before after pundits stuck a fork in him. You can’t shake a political juggernaut this YUGE easily, people! Compared to the presidential debates, this showdown is bound to be boring. Stiff. Wooden. Mind-numbingly focused on policy. Good for the American people, albeit not for TV fireworks. With Pence and U.S. Senator Tim Kaine of Virginia, Trump and Clinton picked V.P. choices you pretty much can’t help but like. Sure, ideological and political differences abound, but darned if you wouldn’t like Pence or Kaine as your next door neighbor. In fact, the takeaway of viewers who sit through this event may be disappointment … that this wasn’t the presidential debate. Pence’s goal, heading into the night? Try to mitigate the damage caused by the top of his own ticket with calm and competence. A longtime conservative favorite, he’ll no doubt assuage some concerns among Trump’s base by virtue of merely showing up. Kaine’s objective? Be his similarly decent, affable, and qualified self while portraying Clinton as the steady hand America needs. Oh, and sandbag Pence with Trump quotes every 10 seconds. Which of the two was able to pull it off? Did they fight to a snooze-fest of a draw, as many observers predicted before the event? You tell us: Who won the great V.P. debate of 2016? Hit the comments and vote about to let us know .

Earl Valentine Confesses On Facebook Live To Killing Wife & Son Before Committing Suicide [Video]

WashingtonPost : Earl Valentine had just critically injured his ex-wife and killed his namesake son in North Carolina, authorities said. He was somewhere on a dark road, possibly driving to Richmond to kill his former in-laws. That’s when Valentine went on Facebook and started broadcasting live. “She lied on me, had warrants taken out on me,” he told the camera early Tuesday, as he divided his gaze between the phone and the road. “She drug me all the way down to nothing. I loved my wife, but she deserved what she had coming.” In his chilling Facebook livestream, which was later reposted on YouTube, Valentine acknowledged that the violent chain of events he started could end in his own death. “Pleasure knowing all y’all,” he said. “I’ve been very sick for months. And this is something that I could not help. So I don’t know if I’m gonna make it where I’m going, but if I don’t, I wish all of you a good life.” Police in Norlina, a town of 1,100 people just south of the North Carolina-Virginia state line, spent Tuesday and Wednesday trying to unravel what caused Valentine allegedly to kick in the door of his ex-wife’s single-story home and open fire — and then admit to the crime on social media. But more than anything, they wanted to find Earl Valentine. Authorities from the FBI and the U.S. Marshals Service joined local and regional law enforcement agencies in a manhunt stretching from Virginia to South Carolina, Norlina Police Chief Taylor Bartholomew told The Washington Post on Wednesday afternoon. Within hours, authorities located Valentine at a motel in Columbia, S.C., about 280 miles south of Norlina. Officials said Valentine committed suicide after being surrounded. He was pronounced dead at the scene. “He shot himself in the head,” Bartholomew told CBS affiliate WLTX. “Think he felt the pressure of being surrounded by marshals. He died alone. At the end of the day, he is a coward.” Hours earlier, Bartholomew said he had talked to Valentine on the phone; the Norlina police chief described the suspected killer as “cold and callous,” saying he showed no remorse for the shootings. “For somebody that had just done something like that, he was calm but he was aggressive,” Bartholomew told The Post on Wednesday. “He was trying to pump me for information. His main focus was to make sure his ex-wife was dead.” Bartholomew quoted Valentine as saying that he wouldn’t be taken alive and that he planned to kill his in-laws, then himself. Police said later that Valentine drove to Richmond after killing his son and injuring his ex-wife, then turned around and drove south, to Columbia. Keisha Valentine and her teenage son had moved to Norlina nearly nine months ago to get away from her abusive ex-husband, Bartholomew said. She was granted a year-long domestic violence restraining order, but it expired last month. The police chief said there’s evidence that Earl Valentine had exchanged heated words with his ex-wife’s family on Facebook. Still, it’s unclear what prompted Tuesday morning’s assault on Hyco Street. About 1:30 a.m., Earl Valentine burst through the front door of the house and marched to his ex-wife’s bedroom, Bartholomew said. Keisha Valentine leaned against the door, trying to keep him out, but he managed to shoot her anyway. Their son, awakened by the commotion, confronted his father. But the teenager fell to the floor and was shot in the chest. Before he died, he called police and told them what had happened. If he had been captured alive, Earl Valentine faced a first-degree murder charge in his son’s death, Bartholomew said. Since Facebook Live launched in April, millions have used the service to offer a glimpse into the big moments and small details of their lives. The view isn’t always pretty. Earl Valentine is the latest example of a person using Facebook Live to discuss a violent act — or to showcase the act itself. WashingtonPost Continue reading

Virginia Governor Signs Executive Order That Allows Felons To Vote

Virginia Governor Signs Executive Order That Allows Felons To Vote Again Rather than having Republicans shut down the idea of restoring felons their voting rights, Virginia governor Terry McAuliffe used his executive power and restored voting rights to hundreds of thousands of felons on Friday. From the New York Times : Gov. Terry McAuliffe of Virginia used his executive power on Friday to restore voting rights to more than 200,000 convicted felons, circumventing the Republican-run legislature. The action effectively overturns a Civil War-era provision in the state’s Constitution aimed, he said, at disenfranchising African-Americans. The sweeping order, in a swing state that could play a role in deciding the November presidential election, will enable all felons who have served their prison time and finished parole or probation to register to vote. Most are African-Americans, a core constituency of Democrats, Mr. McAuliffe’s political party. Amid intensifying national attention over harsh sentencing policies that have disproportionately affected African-Americans, governors and legislatures around the nation have been debating — and often fighting over — moves to restore voting rights for convicted felons. Virginia imposes especially harsh restrictions, barring felons from voting for life. “There’s no question that we’ve had a horrible history in voting rights as relates to African-Americans — we should remedy it,” Mr. McAuliffe said in an interview Thursday, previewing the announcement he made on the steps of Virginia’s Capitol, just yards from where President Abraham Lincoln once addressed freed slaves. “We should do it as soon as we possibly can.” It’s said that an estimated 5.84 million Americans are denied the right to vote because of felony convictions.
