Stay classy, Virginia. Black GOP Nominee Says President Obama Is Gay For Supporting Marriage Equality “Bishop’ E.W. The folks over at Think Progress have put together a list of this GOP goon-in-training’s most outrageously offensive, disrespectful and outright prejudice tweets dating back to 2009 where he even goes as far as to imply that America should regard Barack Obama as our first gay president since he supports marriage equality. SMH. Hit the flip to peep all the ridiculousness first hand…. Continue reading

Father With Biracial Daughters Suspected of Kidnapping Them at Walmart

A Virginia couple was both shocked and outraged when the police showed up at their home to establish if they were in fact their children’s parents. Joseph, a white man who didn’t want his last name revealed, and his black wife Keana said this all went down after a trip to their local Walmart. There, a security guard reportedly suspected Joseph, who was walking around with his three young, biracial daughters, of kidnapping them. “He asks us very sincerely , ‘Hey, I was sent here by Walmart security. I just need to make sure that the children that you have are your own,’” Joseph said. Keana was equally perplexed and upset by the question. “I was dumbfounded. I sat there for a minute and thought, ‘Did he just ask us if these were our kids knowing what we went through to have our children?’ The mixed-race couple has been happily married for 10 years; they have a four-year-old daughter and two-year-old twin girls together. Joseph had taken the little girls to a Walmart near their Prince County home to cash a check and left after spending a short time in the parking lot. After speaking with the officer, they called the store demanding an explanation. According to Keana, a customer was alarmed after seeing them. “Well, the customer was concerned because they saw the children with your husband and he didn’t think that they fit,” Keana told the news station. “And I said, ‘What do you mean by they don’t fit?’ And I was trying to get her to just say it. And she says, ‘Well, they just don’t match up.’” As interracial marriage rates increase, the birth of interracial children has soared, with more than seven percent born in the year before the 2010 census. Virginia leads the nation in the percentage of marriages between blacks and whites, making Joseph and Keana not really all that unusual. Though they were upset, the couple said they weren’t surprised by the incident; Walmart issued a statement saying they were looking into the situation.

Bogus Bolitics: Black GOP Nominee Says Gays Are “Sick Perverts” And Democrats Are Worse Than White Hate Groups Trying To Enslave Black People

Is this really what it takes to be black and be down with the GOP?? Black GOP Nominee Says Gays Are ‘Sick’ And Democrats Enslave Black People The Virginia Republican party has reportedly endorsed their first black candidate for lieutenant governor in 25 years…….and surprise, surprise: he thinks gay people are sick perverts, despises all things Democrats, and says President Obama has “muslim sensibilities.” Sigh. via Think Progress The Virginia Republican Party this weekend nominated for lieutenant governor a minister who has a history of virulent anti-gay statements, accuses the Democratic Party of enslaving African Americans, and criticized President Obama for having “Muslim sensibilities.” The former Senate candidate ,who in 2012 garnered less than 5 percent of the vote in the Republican primary, bested six other candidates during the Virginia GOP convention, and will join conservative Virginia Attorney General Ken Cuccinelli on the Republican ticket. He is the first black candidate the state party has endorsed since 1988. Here are some of the most alarming facts you need to know about E.W. Jackson: -He has said gays and lesbians are “very sick people, psychologically and emotionally” whose minds are perverted. -He has also said homosexuality “poisons culture, it destroys families, it destroys societies.” -He called alleged Democratic Party ties to Planned Parenthood “more lethal to black lives than [white hate groups] ever was” and thinks blacks who join the Democratic Party are voluntarily selling themselves into slavery. -He has equated Islam with anti-semitism, and criticized President Obama for having “Muslim sensibilities.” So, is this what it takes for black people the be down with the GOP goons? We’ll pass. AP Continue reading

Chris Brown: Aaliyah to Collaborate on Next Single

Chris Brown, whose new album embodies a “classic essence of R&B and soul with the new age of music now,” will collaborate with Aaliyah on his next single. Wonder how she would feel about that if she were alive. “They Don’t Know” contains previously unheard vocals from the late singer, and Brown shot a music video for the song in Los Angeles last weekend. “I shot it in the hood. I went to 60th Street and Cedar Block,” Brown said. “[I’m] bringing worlds together and trying to uplift the poverty side of the community and show them where I’m from. I’m from Virginia, but everybody comes from a broken home or being broke.” “I remember when I was.” “They Don’t Know” will be on CB’s upcoming album, X , due out July 16. It’ll feature guests like Nicki Minaj and Kendrick Lamar, among others. “Making X , I found out who I am,” Brown said in March. “This album has a lot of substance, from the subject matter and the situations to how it deals with love.” “It’s really derived from personal experiences,” the ex-boyfriend of Rihanna and rival of Drake said. “Then again, I always like mixing reality with art.” Speaking of Aaliyah and Drake , the Canadian rapper is working on his own Aaliyah album and has already posted a track called “Enough Said.” Aaliyah died in a 2001 plane crash in the Bahamas.

Kermit Gosnell Trial: Doctor Charged in Eight Deaths From Abortion "House of Horrors"

Kermit Gosnell, a Philadelphia doctor, is on trial for performing gruesome, illegal late-term abortions that led to the death of a woman and seven infants. In Pennsylvania, abortions after 24 weeks of gestation are against the law. Gosnell regularly performed the procedure at 30 weeks of gestation or later. Gosnell’s clinic has been labeled a “house of horrors” and is beyond sickening, no matter where you stand on the issue of abortion rights’ legality. The case has already had a profound effect politically. Anti-abortion advocates are using the high-profile case, which first made headlines in 2010, to boost support for new restrictions nationwide. One of those is TRAP (Targeted Regulation of Abortion Providers) laws imposing strict architectural standards on clinics that perform only first-trimester abortions. Marjorie Dannenfelser, president of the Susan B. Anthony List, implied on Friday that TRAP laws are all directly inspired by the Kermit Gosnell case. Dannenfelser said in a statement about Virginia’s new regulations: “Since Kermit Gosnell’s ‘house of horrors’ clinic was discovered in 2010, several states have enacted measures to ensure women going into abortion facilities are treated with basic dignity and respect.” Not surprisingly, the doctor has galvanized the pro-life movement with his misdeeds. The images (not shown here) from his trial are graphic and horrific. But others, like Ilyse Hogue, president of NARAL Pro-Choice America, argue that abortion rights opponents are drawing the wrong lesson from the case. Hogue argued that the TRAP regulations could shut down many safe and legal abortion clinics by requiring them to undergo cost-prohibitive renovations. That, she said, could increase the chances of another Gosnell. “Kermit Gosnell’s so-called clinic is a peek into the world before Roe v. Wade,” she said, “and this is exactly what our opponents are driving us to.” Instead of encouraging more restrictions on rights, Hogue said the Gosnell trial should remind people of the need for safe and affordable abortion care: “This is exactly what happens when you place undue restrictions and you try to shame women to keep them from exercising their constitutional right to safe and legal abortions.” “You make them victims to people like Gosnell, because in desperation they’ll turn anywhere.” “You want to drive people like Gosnell out of business? Then you actually support medical facilities and the right of women to safe and legal abortion.”

‘Only God Forgives’ Red Band Trailer: The Zen Of Ryan

To counter the operatic heat of Baz Luhrmann’s The Great Gatsby , I now bring you the cinematic cool of Nicolas Winding Refn   and Ryan Gosling . A zen-like calm dominates this red band trailer for Only God Forgives , despite some very violent shit going down. In the filmmaking duo’s follow-up to the similarly cool Drive , Gosling reportedly plays a drug smuggler who descends into Bangkok underworld to avenge his brother’s death, and production stills of a battered Gosling certainly suggest that brutality will rule the day. The red band trailer  contains plenty of mayhem, to, but with Gosling playing calm, cool-and-lethal — ” wanna fight?” is going to get a lot of usage in the weeks to come — that song with the music-box chimes playing over a lot of the action, even the scene where the guy gets his hands knifed to the restaurant table seem, well, all part of God’s beautiful plan, man. Twilight Of ‘The Host’: A Sequel Is Not Likely

Has  The Host   already entered its twilight as a potential film franchise? Stephenie Meyer has said she envisions her sci-fi follow-up to the blockbuster Twilight novel franchise, as a three-novel story arc , but the probability of those future books translating into a movie trilogy is looking iffy at best. A spokeswoman for  The Host  says information regarding the probability of a sequel “is not available at this time,” but the film’s dismal opening weekend  does not bode well for a follow-up.  The hordes who swarmed the film adaptations of Meyer’s Twilight saga apparently did not find a romance about a parasitic alien nearly as compelling because they did not show up at the cineplex last weekend. The Host ‘s Box Office Sales Were Dismal According to Box Office Mojo , The Host did $10.6 million its opening weekend, and as of April 2, it has made only $23.5 million worldwide — little more than half of its $40-million production budget. International box office results, which have become increasingly important, also lagged behind domestic. (In comparison, G.I. Joe: Retaliation , which is getting a sequel, has grossed almost $140 million worldwide at the box office as of April 2.) But that’s not the only factor that makes a sequel unlikely. At the Los Angeles premiere of The Host  on March 19, Meyer told EW.com that she was still working on the second novel.  (The movie’s director Andrew Niccol, who expressed interested in helming a sequel even cracked, “Show me the book, Stephenie….You shouldn’t be here. You should be home writing.” The Follow-Up Novel Isn’t Finished The longer Meyer takes to finish the book, the greater the likelihood that the already meager interest in the movie version of  The Host — and any sequel it might spawn — will dissipate further, while the first film’s cast members, who’ve expressed an interest in doing a sequel, grow older and commit to other films. In other words, you have a better chance of contracting a tapeworm than seeing a sequel to The Host . [ Box Office Mojo , EW.com ] Follow Frank DiGiacomo on  Twitter. Follow Movieline on  Twitter.
