Pusha T Set To Drop Fear of God 2 In June

Along with an EP follow-up to his new mixtape, Push promises MTV News more Re-Up Gang offerings. By Alvin Blanco, with reporting by Rahman Dukes Pusha T Photo: MTV News Pusha T is getting over any trepidation he had before the release of his Fear of God mixtape . On June 21, the younger member of heralded Virginia rap duo the Clipse will release Fear of God 2: Let Us Pray, an EP version of his tape. The eight-track EP is set to feature bonus material, surprise guests and is being released in a partnership between G.O.O.D. Music and Re-Up Gang via Decon Records. Push A Ton first announced the news on Monday via Twitter as he dropped the video for the Hitboy-produced “My God.” Fear of God is Pusha T’s first solo venture and he told MTV News about the set’s objectives before its release. “I came up with the title because that’s what I intend to evoke out of the competition, lyrically, the fear of God,” Pusha told us. “At the same time, when I started the mixtape and realized that my brother wasn’t there with me the whole way, I sort of felt the fear of God myself.” Malice, the other side of the Clipse equation, is not part of the G.O.O.D. Music roster but has been busy promoting his just-published book, “Wretched, Pitiful, Poor, Blind and Naked.” However, Pusha confirmed that a new Clipse album will be forthcoming, but only after his solo offerings have dropped as well as a new Re-Up Gang mixtape titled Long Live the Cane. The time was just right for a Pusha solo project. “I think everything is about timing,” Pusha said. “We’ve always been trying to stay true to what the Clipse wanted, then we also had the Re-Up Gang projects that we always been working on as far as the mixtapes and the streets and Ab-Liva. I just think it’s time now.” Clipse and Re-Up Gang fans need not worry about Pusha softening up his style now that he’s asserting himself as a soloist and in league with Kanye West and company. “G.O.O.D. Music and Kanye in particular, he definitely wants me to be me and that’s what I bring to the G.O.O.D. Music fold,” Pusha said. “Everybody on G.O.O.D Music has their own specific lane and mine is definitely going to be street hip-hop to the core.” Pusha has already started preparing his proper solo debut album, due sometime in the fall. “We got five joints, Kanye West-produced, amazing, amazing records,” Pusha said. “Only thing we don’t have is the title yet.” What do you think of Pusha’s Fear of God mixtape? Justin Bieber Calls Israel Concert ‘Amazing Night’

‘Never going to forget this one,’ singer tweets after Tel Aviv show. By Jocelyn Vena Justin Bieber performs in Tel Aviv on Thursday Photo: Jack Guez/ AFP It’s been a trying week for Justin Bieber . After criticizing the paparazzi in Israel on his Twitter account, he then vowed to take a break from tweeting so that he could vacation with his family before his performance there on Thursday. Let’s not forget he had to cancel his meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu as well. But on Thursday Bieber finally hit the stage without a hitch. “Well hello there,” he tweeted before he took the stage at Tel Aviv’s Hayarkon Park. “Time to do what i love best … perform for the fans. Israel … its almost time. #myworldtour.” According to a concert review in The Hollywood Reporter, Bieber took the stage at 8:00 p.m. to play to an estimated 35,000 fans. While most of the show sounded like standard Bieber fare, at one point Bieber’s music director, Dan Kanter, played the country’s national anthem, “Hatikva.” Bieber then played his inspirational track “Pray,” and even paid homage to manager Scooter Braun’s grandmother, a Holocaust survivor who was in the audience. “It was perhaps the one awkward moment in the show, if only because the next line he uttered enthusiastically was, ‘Who wants to be my ‘Baby?!’ ” the writer noted in her review. After his show, he seemed as happy about the performance as his fans. “AMAZING NIGHT … AMAZING PLACE … AMAZING SHOW!!” he tweeted. “NEVER GOING TO FORGET THIS ONE. #BLESSED” Next up Bieber takes his act to the Singapore Indoor Stadium. He has shows booked abroad through May. Related Artists Justin Bieber

Chris Brown Talks Snapbacks, N.W.A And The New West

‘I’m just a product of all that; all the hip-hop that I grew up seeing,’ Breezy tells MTV News about the Cali rap scene. By Rebecca Thomas Chris Brown Photo: MTV News Chris Brown may hail from a little town called Tappahannock in VA, but when it comes to his swag, these days it’s L.A. every day for the F.A.M.E. star. Whether he’s doing the “Cat Daddy” with Los Angeles trio the Rej3ctz in their colorful clip or teaming up with Compton-born Young Money MC Tyga for the wildly successful Fan of a Fan mixtape, C.Breezy reps for the region. As we gear up for our New West Week on Monday — MTV News’ must-follow series on the upstarts breathing new life into the Left Coast rap landscape, from Odd Future to Dom Kennedy — we spoke to Chris about why he lays his broad-brimmed snapback in La-La Land. “I been out in L.A. for a while but I think it’s just, with me, my style is just me,” he said when we asked how he’d been influenced by the City of Angels. With the exception of standard-bearer Snoop Dogg , energetic efforts from Game and the enduring influence of super-producer Dr. Dre, the West Coast took a backseat in the last decade after the Chronic -fueled dominance of gangsta rap subsided. But although that indelible sound gave way to a scene that’s now varied enough to count groups like Black Hippy and Pac Div, as well as Nipsey Hussle and Tyga among its corps, Brown said he was nostalgic for the Chucks-and-Dickies look of Ruthless Records-era N.W.A. “I’m just a product of all that; all the hip-hop that I grew up seeing … I’m inspired by everything,” the “Look At Me Now” singer said. “And I think fashion kind of goes with me as a creative artist. “The L.A. scene now is kinda poppin’,” he continued. “We brought the snapbacks back … me and Tyga,” he claimed about the trendsetting head gear. “Nobody was really wearing it, it was a handful of people: It was Omarion, it was Tyga, me and Big Sean wearing snapbacks. And we was just really wearing that as our own kind of swag ’cause we were looking at N.W.A and looking at how back in the day they used to have Kris Kross and the whole nine, and we wanted to bring that back for the kids.” He quickly added with a laugh, “We ain’t taking credit for it, but you know, everybody’s wearing ’em now, so we did something good.” Breezy did share the sartorial credit, citing fellow Virginia native Pharrell Williams as another major influence on his Angeleno-tinged style. The N.E.R.D. frontman put his stamp on the hip-hop-meets-skate-punk look early on, eventually launching the Billionaire Boys Club line (Chris was outfitted in the collection when he visited the MTV newsroom). “I kind of look at Pharrell as one of the advocates of that [look]. I think a lot of kids, whether it be L.A., whether it be New York, a lot of kids modeled after him when he cut that skater/preppy look, then it was Kanye after and [so on]. Pharell was that guy that really set the tone for us as the kids and the generation now.” Starting Monday, stick with us as MTV News turns the spotlight on the New West, the next wave of hip-hop acts helping to restore faith in the L.A. rap scene. From groups like Odd Future to rising MCs like Dom Kennedy, we’ll bring you up close and personal to these artists as they carve their own lanes in the post-gangsta rap era. Keep it locked here for the next week for more on the West Coast up-and-comers!- Related Videos The New West: An In-Depth Look At L.A. Hip-Hop Related Artists Chris Brown N.W.A.

Bolitics: Will Barack Obama Benefit From An Increase In Minority Population In The 2012 Election??

Looks like we know why the Republicans are so bent on tightening immigration laws… The next America is arriving ahead of schedule. And it could rattle assumptions about the coming presidential election. Last week’s release of national totals from the 2010 census showed that the minority share of the population increased over the past decade in every state, reaching levels higher than demographers anticipated almost everywhere, and in the nation as a whole. If President Obama and Democrats can convert that growth into new voters in 2012, they can get a critical boost in many of the most hotly contested states and also seriously compete for some highly diverse states such as Arizona and Georgia that until now have been reliably red. “One of the strengths of our candidacy in 2008 is, we had a broader battlefield; what these numbers suggest is that those same opportunities are there [for 2012], and there are new ones to consider,” David Axelrod, who is expected to be Obama’s senior campaign strategist, told National Journal. Even as the growing minority population creates new opportunities for Democrats, however, the party faces persistent challenges within the majority-white community. In November’s midterm elections, Republicans won 60 percent of white voters—the highest share of whites they have attracted in any congressional election in the history of modern polling. Since May, Obama’s job-approval rating among whites has exceeded 40 percent only twice in Gallup’s weekly summary of its nightly polling. Unless the economic recovery accelerates, many analysts in both parties believe that Obama could struggle to match the modest 43 percent of white voters he captured in 2008. These twin dynamics suggest that in many states the key question for 2012 may be whether Republicans can increase their advantage among whites enough to overcome what’s likely to be a growing share of the overall vote cast by minorities, who still break preponderantly for Democrats. In Florida, Georgia, Nevada, Virginia, and other key states that have experienced substantial minority growth, a National Journal analysis shows that Obama can win next year with a stunningly small percentage of the white vote—if Democrats can translate the minority-population growth into commensurate increases in the electorate. This election in 2012 is just as big if not bigger than the election in 2008. MAKE SURE YOU GET REGISTERED AND VOTE!!! Source

Elizabeth Taylor Passes Away at 79

Elizabeth Taylor has died at the age of 79. Her cause of death is not immediately known, but Taylor had been treated at L.A.’s Cedars-Sinai Medical Center for congestive heart failure last month. Although she had recently suffered a number of complications, her condition had stabilized and it was hoped that she would be able to return home. Sadly, it was not to be as she passed away. The English-born, American-raised Elizabeth became a star at a very young age and has long been considered one of the greats of Hollywood’s golden age. A two-time Academy Award-winning actress, Elizabeth Taylor later in life became notorious for her seven marriages and sometimes eccentric behavior. She starred in the 1944 smash hit National Velvet at age 12, then won acclaim A Place In The Sun, Cat on a Hot Tin Roof and other works in the ’50s. Taylor won Oscars in the 1960s for roles in Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf and Butterfield 8 , and was often the subject of celebrity gossip fascination. Her tempestuous marriages to Richard Burton, changing appearance, declining health and friendship with Michael Jackson all sparked speculation. May the Dame rest in peace. Here’s a nice tribute of vintage photos … R.I.P. Elizabeth Taylor: A Tribute

Trey Songz Wants To ‘Surprise’ Fans With ‘Love Faces’ Video

‘I think it’s gonna be a lot different than what people expect it to be,’ singer tells MTV News. By Mawuse Ziegbe, with reporting by Rebecca Thomas Trey Songz Photo: MTV News Trey Songz can crank out bedroom burners with ease — this is the same guy behind “I Invented Sex” — but for the visual to his latest single, the Virginia crooner said fans shouldn’t expect the typical Trey treatment. MTV News recently sat down with the singer to chat about the newest video from his Passion, Pain & Pleasure LP, and Trey dished that “Love Faces” may throw fans for a loop. “I love the treatment so much. I think it’s gonna be a lot different than what people expect it to be and a lot of that is contributed to the narrative, and I want people to be surprised when they see it,” he said. “But it’s a great video. It’s shot very well. It’s myself and [director] Justin Francis. We did it in Miami, and it was a two-day shoot and we have a beautiful leading lady. I’ll give away that much.” Trey remained tight-lipped about the details of the visual, but he did break down how the song came together, saying that the track was inspired by another, less sensual track. “When I first wrote the song it was actually a concept I got from a Houston record with … the same name, different kind of faces, and I was like, ‘That’ll be a dope love song,’ ” Trey revealed. The “Bottoms Up” belter added that the song is an ode to the sultry expressions lovers make while in the throes of passion. “I’m sure any man can relate when you look at a beautiful woman and you imagine those things, and I’m sure [women] do those things too when they get into that mental frame when looking at someone,” he said. “So I thought it would be a great concept: Beautiful women make beautiful faces when they making love.” What do you think Trey Songz’s “Love Faces” video will look like? Fight Over Some Chilli Beans Leads To Moms Stabbing & Killing Pops In Front Of Kids! [Video]

Brodnax, VA – A former Virginia Corrections officer is facing murder charges for allegedly killing her husband. And investigators say the fight was all over beans. The crime happened on Wednesday, inside the couple’s home in Brodnax, a small town in Brunswick County, VA. Brunswick Sheriff Brian Roberts says 34-year-old Tiffany Harrison stabbed her husband, 28-year-old William Harrison, after a fight over the beans he brought home from the store. “She said they had been arguing all day and things had gotten greatly aggressive in their argument, while preparing chili and arguing over beans,”said Roberts. Sheriff Roberts says investigators became suspicious of Harrison after she drove her husband to the hospital, dropped him off, then returned home. “She went back to the scene and cleaned up and then came back to the hospital and that’s when we got her and detained her,” says Roberts. William Harrison died shortly after being dropped off at the hospital. Investigators say William and Tiffany Harrison met while she was a corrections officer at the Brunswick Correctional Center. Crazy White Folks Buying More Glock Pistols After Arizona Shooting Spree

SMH: After a Glock-wielding gunman killed six people at a Tucson shopping center on Jan. 8, Greg Wolff, the owner of two Arizona gun shops, told his manager to get ready for a stampede of new customers. Wolff was right. Instead of hurting sales, the massacre had the $499 semi-automatic pistols — popular with police, sport shooters and gangsters — flying out the doors of his Glockmeister stores in Mesa and Phoenix. “We’re at double our volume over what we usually do,” Wolff said two days after the shooting spree that also left 14 wounded, including Democratic Representative Gabrielle Giffords, who remains in critical condition. A national debate over weaknesses in state and federal gun laws stirred by the shooting has stoked fears among gun buyers that stiffer restrictions may be coming from Congress, gun dealers say. The result is that a deadly demonstration of the weapon’s effectiveness has also fired up sales of handguns in Arizona and other states, according to federal law enforcement data. “When something like this happens people get worried that the government is going to ban stuff,” Wolff said. Arizona gun dealers say that among the biggest sellers over the past two days is the Glock 19 made by privately held Glock GmbH, based in Deutsch-Wagram, Austria, the model used in the shooting. Sales Jump One-day sales of handguns in Arizona jumped 60 percent to 263 on Jan. 10 compared with 164 the corresponding Monday a year ago, the second-biggest increase of any state in the country, according to Federal Bureau of Investigation data. Handgun sales rose 65 percent to 395 in Ohio; 16 percent to 672 in California; 38 percent to 348 in Illinois; and 33 percent to 206 in New York, the FBI data show. Sales increased nationally about 5 percent, to 7,906 guns. Federally tracked gun sales, which are drawn from sales in gun stores that require a federal background check, also jumped following the 2007 massacre at Virginia Tech, in which 32 people were killed. “Whenever there is a huge event, especially when it’s close to home, people do tend to run out and buy something to protect their family,” said Don Gallardo, a manager at Arizona Shooter’s World in Phoenix, who said that the number of people signing up for the store’s concealed weapons class doubled over the weekend. Gallardo said he expects handgun sales to climb steadily throughout the week. Permissive Laws Jared Loughner, the 22-year-old accused in the shooting, has a petty criminal record, yet so far there’s no evidence that his background contained anything that would have prevented him from buying a handgun in Arizona, where limits on owning and carrying a gun are among the most permissive in the country, according to the Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence, a gun- control advocacy group. Critics have focused on the extended magazine used in the shooting. It was illegal until 2004 under the expired federal ban on assault weapons. The clip — still banned in some states and popular in Arizona, gun dealers say — allegedly allowed Loughner to fire 33 rounds without reloading. Democratic Representative Carolyn McCarthy of New York said this week that she plans to introduce legislation that would ban the high-capacity magazine. McCarthy’s husband was one of six people shot to death in 1993 by a lone gunman on a Long Island railroad train. Her son was among the 19 people wounded. “The fact that the guy had a magazine that could carry 33 rounds, he was not out to just kill. He was there to do a mass killing,” said Dr. Lawrence Kobilinsky, a forensics expert at John Jay College of Criminal Justice in New York. Virginia Tech Light and easy to use, a Glock 9 mm was also wielded by the Virginia Tech killer, Seung-Hui Cho, in a spree that left 32 people dead. The gun is among the most popular sidearms for U.S. police departments. A negative for law enforcement is that the rifling of the barrel makes it almost impossible to match a bullet to an individual weapon with ballistic tests, Kobilinsky said. “It’s one of the greatest guns made in the history of the world,” said Wolff, whose two stores sell Glock-made weapons almost exclusively. When Loughner allegedly walked into Tucson’s Sportsman’s Warehouse last November to buy a Glock 19 — favored as a concealed weapon because it is slightly smaller and lighter than similar caliber handguns — federal law would have required a background check via the National Instant Criminal Background Check System, a telephone-based check administered by the FBI. Background Check Loughner would have had to present his driver’s license and answer several questions, including queries on past drug use, domestic violence or felony convictions. Wolff said in most cases the check takes less than five minutes and the number of denials he receives is a tiny fraction of the total. Wolff called the shooting “horrible.” Nonetheless, it has created a surge of publicity for the gun, he said. “It’s in the news now. I’m sure the Green Bay Packers are selling all kinds of jerseys today as well,” he said. “I just think our state embraces guns.” Arizona law allows anyone to carry a gun in public if it’s in full view, making it what’s known as an open-carry state. Until recently, gun store owners say, it was common to see people carrying weapons in grocery stores or coffee shops. That’s less true today, because last year that state passed a law allowing individuals to carry a concealed weapon without a permit. Gun Law Rating Daniel Vise, senior attorney with the Brady Campaign, said Arizona received a score of two out of 100 on the organization’s rating of state gun laws, and that the rate of gun deaths in the state is one and a half times the national average. Brady Campaign spokeswoman Caroline Brewer said that some states require local law enforcement agencies to approve gun permits, a system that would have given authorities a chance to further assess Loughner, whose behavior acquaintances have described as erratic. Loughner tried to buy ammunition the morning of the shooting at a local Wal-Mart Stores Inc. outlet, then left during the sale process, according to a statement by the company. “If a clerk at Wal-Mart picked something up and refused to sell this guy some ammunition, we can certainly imagine that law enforcement would have picked that up as well,” Brewer said.
