Clipse’s Pusha T Readying Solo Mixtape Fear of God

The Virgina rapper will drop a tape on September 14, as rumors swirl that he’ll also join Kanye West’s G.O.O.D. Music collective. By Mawuse Ziegbe Pusha T Photo: Neilson Barnard/ Getty Images Clipse’s Pusha T is preparing to make a move as a solo artist with the release of a new mixtape set to drop in the fall. Clipse manager Steve Victor confirmed to MissInfo.tv that Pusha has set a September 14 release date for his solo tape. The Virginia MC even shouts out the title, Fear of God, in his “Bidding War” freestyle, which recently surfaced on the Web. The mixtape due date is an intriguing choice as rumors have been swirling that Push might be joining Kanye West’s G.O.O.D. music collective, many of whom — ‘Ye, Kid Cudi, Consequence and Big Sean — are dropping albums on the same day. Pusha T, with his brother and partner-in-rhyme, Malice, dropped their latest album, Til the Casket Drops, on December 8, 2009 , a date also crowded by a spate of new hip-hop releases from artists such as Gucci Mane and Snoop Dogg. While readying the release of Casket, Push opened up to MTV News about his favorite track on the album. ” ‘Freedom’ is a redemption song,” Push told us. “It’s an apology; it gives a rhyme and reason for some of the things and some of the attitudes of the Clipse. It says ‘sorry’ just as much as it says we’re better [than other rappers], and we’re still the best … ever.” Malice has also been keeping busy. The MC recently released the video short “This Is Only a Test,” in which he weaves spiritual rhetoric into his narrative about a man grappling with street life. Clipse are also scheduled to hit the stage at this year’s Rock the Bells Tour , kicking off August 21. Are you surprised Pusha T is going solo on his next effort? Tell us in the comments! LeBron James Heads To Miami Heat

The NBA Superstar announces long-awaited decision, saying decision to leave hometown Cleveland motivated by desire ‘to win.’ By Kelley L. Carter LeBron James announces that he will play for the Miami Heat on ESPN July 8 Photo: ESPN It was a move that will surely go down in sports history. But after a protracted wait, King James finally announced, at 9:27 p.m. ET, he’d be joining the Miami Heat. LeBron James’ decision to televise his decision became an event that seemed as if it could have been ripped from the pages of a screenplay. Sitting before ESPN cameras, the former Cleveland Cavaliers forward had millions of viewers anticipating his final choice with baited breath. “I feel like this is going to give me the best opportunity to win — and to win for multiple years. I want to be able to win championships,” he said, explaining what motivated him to venture to Miami. “This process has been everything I thought and more. I put myself in the position to have this process, where I could hear teams’ pitches and figure out what was the best possibility for me to win … and be happy,” James said during an interview before his big announcement. The 25-year-old revealed that it was a really humbling experience to be in the position he’d found himself in, as multiple teams vied for his attention. James thanked all of those teams, saying he’d made the decision earlier Thursday morning (July 8) and adding that in the preceding weeks, he often changed his mind on a day-to-day basis. “I woke up, had a great conversation with my mom, once I had that conversation with her, I was set,” he said. James is considered to be the most prized free agent in league history, and he was the last of the top free agents to announce where he’d land. The major factor in his decision, he said, was the best opportunity for him to win, both now and in the future. “Every since I was a rookie or in high school … that was the number one thing for me,” he said. “I’ve done some great things in my seven years and I want to continue to do that,” he continued about his tenure in Cleveland. The announcement comes after what felt like an eternity of a waiting period, with the two-time NBA MVP finally ending months of speculation about where he would play basketball next season. (James is only one of two players to earn the MVP accolade twice by the age of 25; Kareem Abdul-Jabbar is the other.) Diehard NBA fans and casual watchers alike had been guessing about where James would go in 2010, many since the NBA superstar signed his last contract back in 2007. Before his announcement, speculation was heavy: Would he break his hometown, Cleveland’s, heart? Would he go to Miami and join his former U.S. Olympic teammates Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh? Or would he go to New York or Chicago? Hours before the announcement on Thursday, James made an appearance at his basketball camp, arriving mid-afternoon with former teammate Damon Jones. Others in attendance included top college coaches, including Duke’s Mike Krzyzewski, North Carolina’s Roy Williams, West Virginia’s Bob Huggins and Syracuse’s Jim Boeheim. James gave his decision during an hourlong broadcast that aired live ESPN from a Boys & Girls Club in Greenwich, Connecticut. The aim of the special program, James’ said, was also to raise at least $1 million to aid James’ foundation. What do you think of LeBron’s decision to go to Miami? Did he make the right choice? But there’s gossip, and there’s deliberately and wholly inventing cover stories, misleading readers with vague text and exclamation points. Would you believe that the same story was reported almost verbatim last week, only about Jennifer Aniston ? It’s true! Doubly joyful news! CONFIRMED : OK! wrote a cover story! Consider it REVEALED! According to this fine publication, as Jessica nears her 30th birthday this week, she has a new man ( Eric Johnson ) and a new plan – to become a mother! The first part of that is true, at least. But then there’s this line: “Enjoying an early birthday celebration at the Greenbrier Casino Club gala opening in West Virginia on July 4, Jess caused a stir with her visible bump !” No word if they mean a visible bump on her head or knee. Seriously, time to get a little more creative with your made-up nonsense, guys. You’re going to be labeled the magazine that cried fake-pregnant wolf.

Virginia Madsen on Scoundrels, Her Most Disappointing ’60s Experience and Her Lust For ‘Real Men’

After earning an Oscar nomination as the sultry object of a wine aficionado’s affection in Sideways , Virginia Madsen realized that there still weren’t many good film roles left for actresses. That’s why the 80’s sex symbol made the transition from the multiplex to mainstream television, and in her second-ever regular role on a network series, Madsen is tackling one of the biggest challenges of her career: balancing her well-honed dramatic talents while discovering comedy. The satisfying role is courtesy of ABC’ s summer dramedy Scoundrels , where Madsen stars as a headstrong mother of four who is determined to give her family an honest life after her husband (David James Elliott) is sentenced to prison. Last week, Madsen phoned Movieline to explain why actresses are fleeing to television, the time her brain literally exploded, and her secret to great onscreen (and offscreen) chemistry.

As Much on Byrd’s Fiddle Playing as Klan Days; ‘Like Constitution and Bible, Permanent Fixture of the Senate’

The networks Monday night skipped lightly over the late Senator Robert Byrd’s segregationist and racist record, devoting as much time to the Democrat’s fiddle-playing prowess as his years in the Ku Klux Klan, which CBS’s Chip Reid excused as “an effort to help his political career.” Leading into file video of Byrd playing his fiddle, ABC anchor Diane Sawyer declared “Byrd was a powerhouse and old-fashioned crowd-pleaser on the stump, whipping out his fiddle.” Though Byrd is the only Senator to have voted against both Thurgood Marshall and Clarence Thomas, Cokie Roberts asserted that “as the country changed, Robert Byrd changed with it. He readily endorsed Barack Obama for President.” After touting how by “writing several volumes of Senate history” Byrd had followed in Caesar’s “footsteps,” she concluded: “Like the Constitution and the bible, Robert Byrd will be a permanent fixture of the Senate.” On CBS, Reid also stressed the fiddle-playing: “Byrd grew up in poverty in the coal fields of West Virginia where he learned to play the fiddle. For decades, he used it to entertain audiences on the campaign trail.” Reid later recalled: His life was not without mistakes. He joined the Ku Klux Klan as a young man, an effort to help his political career — a decision that haunted him all his life. He also participated in the historic filibuster against the Civil Rights Act of 1964. He later apologized for both actions and became a strong advocate of civil rights. Since he’s a Democrat, all is forgiven. The full coverage on the Monday, June 28 World News on ABC: DIANE SAWYER: An historic passing to note. On the same day Alaska became a state, Robert Byrd of West Virginia was sworn in as a U.S. Senator. Byrd died early today at the age of 92, the longest-serving member of Congress in history. His Senate desk draped in black bunting. Byrd was a powerhouse and old-fashioned crowd pleaser on the stump, whipping out his fiddle. Our Cokie Roberts remembers an icon now. COKIE ROBERTS: Though most politicians tout their humble beginnings, Robert Byrd was the real deal. An orphan raised dirt poor who never went to college, but went to Congress. In early days, he was a member of the Ku Klux Klan and filibustered against civil rights. He later apologized for his Klan membership. ROBERT BYRD: It was a mistake and one that I have greatly regretted over the years. ROBERTS: And as the country changed, Robert Byrd changed with it. He readily endorsed Barack Obama for President. And though he had supported the Vietnam war he became a forceful voice against the Iraq war. BYRD: Why is war being dealt with not as a last resort but as a first resort? ROBERTS: He never forgot the voters of West Virginia who saw more than $3 billion in federal funds come their way. It was, however, the United States Senate that mattered most to Byrd. He lauded the institution and often lectured it. BYRD: Caesar showed himself at this time to be also a historian. ROBERTS: Byrd followed in the Roman’s footsteps, writing several volumes of Senate history, reminding his colleagues and the country that the institution is more important than politics or Presidents. That’s why he always carried the Constitution, which names Byrd’s beloved Congress as the first branch of government. BYRD: I say we ought to read the Constitution more. ROBERTS: And, like the Constitution and the bible, Robert Byrd will be a permanent fixture of the Senate.

Lumenhaus From Virginia Tech Wins Solar Decathlon Europe

image via inhabitat inhabitat cheers USA! USA! as Virginia Tech wins the Solar Decathlon over some tough competition. It is a surprising win for a number of reasons; the unit was in the Solar Decathlon 2009 and did not win there.
