She notably made her Brooklyn debut last year to much fan fair and now singing diva Barbra Streisand will make her way to the Academy Awards telecast for a return. [ Related: Norah Jones To Perform ‘Ted’ Oscar-Nominated Song At Academy Awards ] The two-time Academy Award-winner has only lent her voice to the Oscars once before back in March 28, 1977 when she sang the them song from “A Star Is Born.” Streisand won the Oscar for Best Original Song that same night for Evergreen . Streisand won her first Oscar for Best Actress in Funny Girl (1968), and was nominated again in 1973 for her lead performance in The Way We Were . She was also nominated for producing the Best Picture nominee The Prince of Tides (1991), which she also directed, and for co-writing the original song “I Finally Found Someone” from The Mirror Has Two Faces (1996). “In an evening that celebrates the artistry of movies and music,” said producers Craig Zadan and Neil Meron in a statement, adding, “How could the telecast be complete without Barbra Streisand? We are honored that she has agreed to do a very special performance on this year’s Oscars, her first time singing on the show in 36 years.” The 85th Academy Awards takes place February 24th in Hollywood. Seth MacFarlane will host the live event, which will be broadcast on ABC.

On January 12 2013, I met Justin. It was honestly the best thing that could have ever happened to me. Basically I love Justin with all my heart and have been a Belieber since the end of 2008. Entering the fandom was another family to have and I am so blessed to be able to say I am a belieber and I’m proud. Justin was scheduled to come to San Antonio, Texas (my hometown) on January 12 for the Believe Tour. I looked up the prices but they were outrageous but I would do anything to just be able to go. I had my parents get a hold of one of their friends to get me tickets. The tickets were on the floor for $800 which was pretty good but I still didn’t want my parents to spend that much. We asked my cousin who is Usher’s guitarist for already 12 years a favor, to see if he could get tickets. We asked him in October and it was really early for him to find out so I waited and waited. He didn’t really promise that he was going to get them but I was hoping he would. He came in December from LA to spend time with the family and when I saw him, we started talking about how he was going to get me tickets and that he knew Scooter and Justin! On the 30th of December my cousin called me and he told me that I was going to meet Justin and that he gotten me tickets! I honestly couldn’t stop shaking and I wasn’t able to breathe. It was the best feeling that you could ever manage to think about especially since I waited 4 years for that moment. On the day of, I made my mom take me there at 2:30 p.m. because we were suppose to be there at 3:30. When I was entering the building Dan Kanter came out of the elevator. I wasn’t really thinking straight so I turned around and screamed “Dan!!!” I started crying and shaking and my mom and cousins were looking at me like I was crazy. I told them that he was Justin’s guitarist and they told me to get a grip haha! We walked into the elevator and were taken to a different floor. Once I stepped out, Kenny was coming my way! Then while we were waiting in line, Dan Kanter was coming down the aisle. I started shaking again and I talked in my normal voice and said “Dan!” He looked at me and smiled but that’s it. Then my cousin said to him, “Hey Dan. Do you know Natural?” (Natural is what they call my cousin) Dan immediately turned around and was like, “Yeah! How do you know him?” I was shaking and on the verge of crying. My cousin on the other hand told him, “I’m his sister and this is his niece and cousin.” Dan looked at me and said, “No way! I look up to your brother, he’s an amazing guitarist!” Again I was shaking and then he turned to me and said, “Hi nice to meet you.” I was like in shock then I asked him for a picture and he said sure. Then 15 minutes later, Kenny came walking towards my direction. I asked him for a picture and he smiled at me but said that he could get in trouble because he had to get the line moving. We were almost to where Justin was, and he was on vocal rest because he wasn’t feeling that good. They had announced that if he didn’t talk much, it was because of that and not to have our feelings hurt. We finally got to the entrance of the room and I tried to stay calm and promised myself that I wasn’t going to cry in front of him. I asked Kenny for a picture again but I just started taking a lot of pictures of him when he wasn’t looking until he saw me and smiled at my phone. My cousin then asked him if he knew Natural and he thought about it for a minute and was like yeah how do you know him? Then she told him and he shook my hand and asked me what my name was. He continued to talk to us until another guy asked us where was our groups of 6. Kenny told him that it was fine and to leave it. When it was out turn, my heart was racing at 43729020 miles per hour and I felt like I was going to pass out. They had said to put your phones and cameras away so I did but I put my phone on record so I could have the conversation we had when we met saved. They said next once again and it was like everything I’ve been wishing for. I took a step into the “room” and I couldn’t breathe once I laid my eyes on his face, his beautiful hazel eyes and his hair and lips and everything of him was perfect and he was so flawless. The guy told me to move to my right and make my way towards Justin so I did exactly what he said. Once I was in front of him, I looked in his eyes and he held his hand out in front of me and told me “Hi, whats your name?” The emotions I was feeling were indescribable and the butterflies in my stomach were flips that not even gymnasts do. I told him my name was Gaby and he said nice to meet you. His hand was so big and he was just so perfect. I didn’t even look at his outfit, I wasn’t able to speak. He tried to shake my cousin’s hands and my mom’s but the guards were telling him to hurry up. I didn’t even realize Kenny followed us in the “room” until he spoke up and said, “Yo bro.” Justin told him, “Whats up” and Kenny was like, “That’s Natural’s sister, niece, and cousin.” Justin was like “No way,” and I was in shock . After taking the picture and wanting to stay with him forever, I turned to him and told him “Can I hug you?” He was like “Yeah of course.” I said, “Thank you for everything, and rest your voice.” He smiled at me and thanked me. I counted in my head that we hugged for 3 seconds and said “I love you.” When I walked out, Kenny was standing right in front of me. I looked at him and he smiled. I started crying and shaking so much. It was everything I could’ve imagined and more once. I will never forget that day, he made me smile at times when I was sad, he made me laugh at times when I felt like no one cared, and even though he didn’t know me, I acted like we knew each other. I am so grateful for that experience and it was all thanks to my cousin who didn’t even have to do it, yet he did. If you need further evidence that Marvel is winning the battle against DC on the comic-book movie front, consider the latest Internet chatter about the Guardians of the Galaxy movie. Latino Review , which knows how to work that fan boy beat, reports that Marvel has inquired about the availability of both Jim Carrey and Adam Sandler for the movie, which is slated to hit theaters on Aug. 1, 2014. It’s unclear what roles Marvel envisions these actors playing, but Latino Review and other blogs have been guessing Rocket Raccoon (whose creation was inspired by the Beatles’s White Album song “Rocky Raccoon”) and the tree-like Groot are the most plausible, since both are reportedly in the Guardians of the Galaxy script. Given these two superheroes’ non-human appearances, they’ll probably exist as computer-generated characters , and if I’m doing the casting, I’d want the shape-shifting Carrey to play Groot because the character bears a resemblance to the Grinch, which the actor already played (in Ron Howard’s obnoxious adaptation of the Dr. Seuss book), and Sandler as Rocket. Sandler’s biggest hit in a long time was as the voice of the CGI Count Dracula in Hotel Transylvania last year, so I suspect he’ll be up for the gig. Even if Marvel casts just one of these guys, or some equally funny dude, it’s an astute move because, while the costumes and action sequences in these comic-book movies are fun, it’s the humor that gives them soul and makes them — so far — superior to the DC equivalent. Yes, Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight trilogy was exceptional, but, given the choice, I’ll take Robert Downey Jr.’s satisfyingly smart-ass portrayal of Tony Stark and Iron Man every time. In anticipation of his interview with Katie Couric, Manti Te’o has released a trio of voicemails to the talk show host, all of which feature a female voice he believed at the time to be girlfriend Lennay Kekua. It has since been confirmed the calls were instead made by Ronaiah Tuiasosopo . Manti Te’o Voicemails In the first, obtained by TMZ and allegedly left right before “Lennay” started chemotherapy, the individual simply says: “Just wanted to call you and keep you posted… I miss you, I love you… bye.” In the second, the individual is crying, seemingly because another woman is spending time with Te’o. “I don’t know who answered your phone and I don’t care,” the voice says. “This is my last time trying … you made it clear what you want.” Finally, the third voicemail was reportedly left on September 12, the day Kekua “died.” “I know that you’re probably doing homework or you’re with the boys, or a girl maybe, just razzing,” it says. “I just want to say I love you and goodnight and I’ll be okay tonight, I’ll do my best. So, yeah, get your rest and I’ll talk to you tomorrow. I love you so much hun, sweet dreams.” Te’o’s interview with Couric will soon air in many markets and we’ll file a complete report once it is over.
