Midnight Train Cancellation: Gladys Knight Is Getting DRAGGED For Agreeing To Sing The National Anthem At The Super Bowl

Source: Kevork Djansezian/AMA2018 / Getty Gladys Knight’s Fans Aren’t Happy That She’s Agreeing To Perform At The Super Bowl According to TMZ , Gladys Knight is hoping her performance at the Super Bowl can “unite the country” and her fans are NOT happy. The legendary singer signed on to sing the National Anthem before kickoff during a time when many artists are distancing themselves as a sign of solidarity with Colin Kaepernick. “I understand that Mr. Kaepernick is protesting two things and they are police violence and injustice,” she said in a statement. “It is unfortunate that our National Anthem has been dragged into this debate when the distinctive senses of the National Anthem and fighting for justice should each stand alone.” Kaep notorious cause a huge media-storm when he took part in the silent protest of taking a knee during the anthem to put a spotlight on police violence against minorities, but was later black-balled from the league. “I am here today and on Sunday, Feb. 3 to give the Anthem back its voice, to stand for that historic choice of words, the way it unites us when we hear it and to free it from the same prejudices and struggles I have fought long and hard for all my life, from walking back hallways, from marching with our social leaders, from using my voice for good…I have been in the forefront of this battle longer than most of those voicing their opinions to win the right to sing our country’s Anthem on a stage as large as the Super Bowl LIII…No matter who chooses to deflect with this narrative and continue to mix these two in the same message, it is not so and cannot be made so by anyone speaking it…I pray that this National Anthem will bring us all together in a way never before witnessed and we can move forward and untangle these truths which mean so much to all of us.” Accompanying Knight are Travis Scott & Outkast’s Big Boi , both have also received heat for standing with the NFL to perform during half-time.   News: “Gladys Knight Will Perform The National Anthem” Blacks: “GLAAAAAADDDYYYYSSS??” pic.twitter.com/N7v5V7tm5R — Broke & Busy (@mississippiGFM) January 17, 2019   Just because I love & respect someone doesn’t mean I like their choices. Kevin Hart: I Will NEVER Host the Oscars!

Why couldn’t we leave Kevin Hart in 2018? If not the whole man, why couldn’t we just leave that awful story about him losing the Oscars hosting gig because of his many homophobic comments? It would have been so nice not to have to recount his ridiculously ignorant “jokes” in this new year, but unfortunately, here we are. So let’s push through, OK? If you missed this mess, it was announced in December that Kevin would act as the host for this year’s Academy Awards. As soon as the news was announced, lots of people went “Wait, he’s made tons of offensive comments about the LGBT community, this isn’t cool.” And it’s true — he really has said some terrible things. Like, a few years ago he tweeted “If my son comes home & try’s 2 play with my daughters doll house I’m going 2 break it over his head & say n my voice ‘stop that’s gay.'” He used to have a real big habit of tweeting things like that — he called tons of people “f-g,” used “gay” as insult, that sort of thing. Once, he told someone that he looked like a “gay bill board for AIDS.” Then, in one of his comedy specials, he said that “One of my biggest fears is my son growing up and being gay. That’s a fear.” “Keep in mind, I’m not homophobic,” he insisted. “Be happy. Do what you want to do.” “But me, as a heterosexual male, if I can prevent my son from being gay, I will.” So all of those are jokes, OK? And we’re sure he thought they were all just super hilarious. But lots of people didn’t, and when those people complained about them after he became the Oscars host, Kevin turned the blame around on them by telling them to “Stop looking for reasons to be negative.” Sure, Kevin. Sure. Shortly after he said, that, he posted a video on Instagram in which he explained that the people from the Academy had called him up and basically told him to apologize or he’d be fired. Kevin Hart: I Won’t Apologize for Homophobic Jokes! He refused to apologize. His stance at the time was that he’d apologized for those kinds of statements several times already, except, oddly enough, no one has been able to find a record of that anywhere. He’s acknowledged it, sure, but just with comments like “funny is funny,” which most people with the slightest bit of awareness can agree is very far from an apology. So that was that — he stepped down from the job, and we still don’t know who the host will be . All of this was old news, except Ellen DeGeneres brought everything back up when she had Kevin on her show yesterday. In that interview, she said that she still wanted him to host because people change, even though the haters refuse to accept that. But in another new interview, this one with Variety, Kevin is making it clear that he won’t be hosting the Oscars. Not now. Not ever. “Would I ever do it?” he asked himself. “No, it’s done. It’s done.” “The moment came and it was a blessing and I was excited at the opportunity and I still am,” he said. “In my mind I got the job, it was a dream job, and things came up that simply prohibited it from happening. But I don’t believe in going backwards.” So now, he said, “When I go on that stage, it will be because I’ve somehow figured out a way to win the Oscar.” “Somehow I’ll get to the stage but it’s not going to be in this way because it just comes with such a weird clout at this point.” And then he blamed “trolls” for digging up all those horrible things he said without bothering to find the apology he made about those things as well. Because he’s still insisting he made an apology. According to him, at some point in 2011, “I had to say to a person in the LGBTQ community, ‘Hey, I understand. And you know what? I’m wrong.'” He told that person “I can’t do nothing about that joke because it was done. I can’t do nothing about the tweets because they’re out there. I was wrong. It’ll never happen again and I’m sorry.” … Did he just say that to a random person? Is that his big apology that he expects people to know about? The thing is, if he was truly sorry for saying those things, there’s no reason why he shouldn’t be able to apologize again. Maybe he doesn’t want to offer an apology in every interview he does for the rest of his life, but for big instances like this, what would it hurt to make it known that you’ve changed your ignorant views? As he explained it, “I can’t put that energy into something that’s in my past. I can’t put that energy into negativity.” View Slideshow: Ellen DeGeneres Defends Kevin Hart, Gets BLASTED on Twitter Whatever, Kevin. Have it your way.

A “Lil Positivity”: LeBron James Named AP Male Athlete Of The Year

Source: Jim McIsaac / Getty LeBron James Named AP Male Athlete Of The Year 2018 marks the third time that LeBron James has been crowned “Male Athlete Of The Year” by the AP . This past year James made 8th consecutive trip to the NBA Finals, made business moves off the court producing content like The Shop for HBO, released his socio-political documentary about athletes, Shut Up And Dribble , on Showtime, and most importantly, saw the opening of the “I Promise” school in his hometown of Akron, Ohio. For the third time, @KingJames is AP Male Athlete of the year as selected by AP members and editors. Even without a title, 2018 a big year as he opened his 'I Promise' school and furthered using his voice as an activist. @ByTimReynolds : https://t.co/ZgxGHAT3Qh pic.twitter.com/rNEOeDPmEW — AP Sports (@AP_Sports) December 27, 2018 “I would describe it as a success because I was able to inspire so many people throughout the year,” James said. “I got to go back to China, to Paris, to Berlin, I opened up a school. And all these kids I was able to see, all over the world and in my hometown, I was able to inspire, to make them think they can be so much more than what they think they’re capable of being. That was my outlook for 2018.” LeBron joins Michael Jordan, Tiger Woods, and Lance Armstrong on a shortlist of men who have won the award at least three times with Woods and Armstrong winning four times each. Thank you “AP” for the award. Obviously this isn’t for me, it’s for all my @IPROMISESchool kids, kids all over the world and adults as well that allow me to talk for them, lead them, dream with them and inspire them every single day! Bye Marlo! Here’s What Shamari Thought About Marlo’s Messy Makeover Help On #RHOA

Source: BravoTV.com/RHOA / BravotTV.com/RHOA Sit down hater… Shamari Devoe Reacts To Marlo Hampton’s Makeover On RHOA If you watched the most recent episode of RHOA then you no doubt saw Shamari Devoe get some unsolicited fashion advice from Marlo Hampton who dug through her closet and gave her a makeover. Things later reached a fever pitch when Shamari accused Marlo of being messy by targeting her wardrobe and a “b***/”yo mama” argument ensued. According to Shamari it’s pretty clear that Marlo was being shady and she’s once again reiterating that she dresses JUST fine. Via BravoTV: Bravotv.com: What did you think of Marlo’s makeover advice? Shamari DeVoe: Unsolicited and uncomfortable advice. I think she probably thought she was doing a nice thing for me, but it’s insulting to forcefully engage someone into a “makeover” first thing in the morning. Especially when they don’t know you well… Marlo’s style is known as being very fashionable, and I will never take that away from her. But I was put off at her approach and the fact that she basically was trying to make me a carbon copy of herself. I have said it 1,000 times and I will keep saying it: “I wear what I want!” She also added that she got pissed at dinner when she once again had to defend her style choices. Not only that she’s adamant that Marlo can’t be serious about shading her voice when she has platinum record sales under her belt. “Bravotv.com: What was going through your mind when things got heated with Marlo? At this point, I was just annoyed that grown women were so focused on what clothes I decide to put on my own body. I was originally just trying to express to Marlo and everyone else my feelings on her critique of my fashions. Once Marlo started taking jabs at me, the gloves were off! I can go back and forth with the best of them, but a line that should never be crossed is bringing my mother into our argument! And as far as her saying my voice is “awful”… child, I am not even going to entertain that foolishness. Tell that to those platinum record sales I have under my belt.” Do YOU think Shamari’s style needs help? Porsha previously said she needed to be open to a stylist and Cynthia called her clothes “dated.” More Shamari on the flip.

Bossip Exclusive: Michelle Obama Surprises 18 Male Students Of Color From Wayne State At Motown Museum In Detroit

Source: Julia Marie Burton / Bossip/Julia Marie Burton Bossip’s Exclusive Report From Michelle Obama’s Motown Museum Surprise Pop-Up BOSSIP was on-hand in Detroit, Michigan at the Motown Museum inside of Hitsville, USA when our forever FLOTUS Michelle Obama surprised a group of 18 male students of color from Wayne State for an event produced by her Reach Higher initiative. The young men believed that they were solely there to take part in a roundtable discussion about life, school and career paths with Keegan-Michael Key (Key & Peele) and Mrs. Obama’s brother and NBA coach Craig Robinson. Source: Julia Marie Burton / Bossip/Julia Marie Burton The energy in the room was unlike anything we’ve ever experienced being that WE knew at any minute during the conversation, Michelle Obama was going to burst into the room and leave us and the students with our eyes wide, picking our jaws off the floor. It was a glorious moment. Yes, she really said “you know how I do” in response to the idea that this was a “boys only” meeting. God, we love this woman. Mrs. Obama was in the “D” as part of the nationwide Live Nation tour for her best-selling book Becoming , but she wanted to take the opportunity to speak specifically to a group of minority men for the first time and give them encouragement and insight into being successful students, professionals, and people. FLOTUS went on to say that part of letting go of that fear and embracing discomfort, is not being ashamed of hardships and life struggles that you may have endured. “Put it on the table”, as she so eloquently states, “let folks deal with it.” Motown Records is a sponsor of the Fall 2018 Becoming: An Intimate Conversation With Michelle Obama tour. Motown President Ethiopia Habtemariam spoke about their role in spreading and supporting FLOTUS’ message: “We’ve established this partnership because Motown’s continued growth and evolution over decades embodies the message of Mrs. Michelle Obama’s new book, Becoming. The playlist reflects our past dedication and continued commitment to remain the voice of today and tomorrow. Like Mrs. Obama, some of our artists experienced Hitsville for the first time and stand on the same ground that Motown artists and staff built into the iconic emblem that is globally recognized and loved by so many today.” It was surreal to be just mere feet from the woman that has inspired us along with millions and millions of others. If you haven’t picked up a copy of Becoming, then congratulations, you are playing yourself in a way that would make DJ Khaled ashamed. Pick up one for yourself and someone you love for Christmas, Michelle Obama has written an amazing gift. Continue reading

Hailee Steinfeld Is Cutie But Can She Sing?

So I believe that Hailee Steinfeld is in the new Bumble Bee movie and also sings a song for it. Here she is performing it on the Voice and it is one boring tune. I don’t even think she is singing. If she is, it’s under a main track. Who knows? Anyway, good thing she is cute because her music needs better songwriting. This just doesn’t cut it.

Ryan Edwards: Back on Tinder After Rehab AND New Baby?!

You know how Ryan Edwards just got out of a long stay in rehab and everybody had high hopes that he could actually turn his life around this time? Yeah, about that … See, Ryan's done a lot of not-so-great things over the years. Lots and lots of them. One of those things is that he made a Tinder profile and tried to hook up with girls while married to Mackenzie Standifer. He's done that a couple of times, and now? Well, it looks like he's gone and done it again. 1. Dang It, Ryan 2018 just hasn’t been Ryan’s year, let’s be honest. 2. Huh But if 2018 hasn’t been his year … what year HAS been good for him? 3. Real Talk Ryan’s always been kind of a mess, right? Nearly 10 years ago when Maci was 16 and Pregnant, we saw him be pretty rude and indifferent about everything, and not much has changed since then. 4. Yup He’s never been a super active father, he’s never gone out of his way to get along with Maci, or with anyone, really. 5. There It Is But a couple of years ago, it became increasingly clear that Ryan seemed to be suffering from some kind of substance abuse problem. 6. Awww Last year, Maci confirmed that he had a drug problem on Teen Mom OG, and while she didn’t say what his drug of choice was, she did say that she’d heard from mutual friends that things had taken a terrifying turn. Miley Cyrus Risks Catastrophic Nip-Slip on Saturday Night Live

Miley Cyrus was Saturday Night Live 's musical guest. But it was not her voice or song selection that turned heads. No — Twitter made it very clear that her eye-catching wardrobe choice was driving viewers to distraction. She wore a very shiny jacket … and nothing underneath. No shirt and no bra. Miley did not have a nip slip, thanks to some very praise-worthy wardrobe choices. But audiences weren't so confident of that, and they kept their eyes glued in awe and nervousness during Miley's performance. Take a look: 1. First, here was her look She looks great as she performs beside Mark Ronson. But was she courting disaster? 2. Viewers were amazed Anyone else old enough to be having flashbacks to Jennifer Lopez’s infamous dress? If you’re ready to feel ancient, know that J Lo’s dress was at the Grammy Awards in 2000. 3. It was distracting Distracting, in this case, refers to the tension as the audience wondered if her boob was going to pop out on live television. 4. Others vowed to remain focused Even the people concentrating on her voice had to acknowledge that she pulled off one hell of a look. 5. People watched in wonder We should point out that, if your nipples are capable of grasping and clinging to fabric, you may want to talk to a doctor. 6. Of course, how she did it is no real mystery Ever since the J Lo incident — which was nearly 19 years ago — people have known that double-sided tape is usually the trick. View Slideshow

The Voice Recap: Did Adam Levine Address the Elephant in the Room?

Adam Levine found himself in the hot seat on Monday night.  The longtime coach on The Voice felt the ire of the internet last week when he urged viewers to vote to save Reagan Strange, despite her not being well enough to perform in the sing-off.  In the process, he threw his other act, DeAndre Nico, under the bus, and everyone seemed mad at him.  Last week “was a strange week, but it’s over now,” Adam said to Reagan. “DeAndre’s my boy. I love him. We talked. It’s all good.” Viewers later got to witness a video call between DeAndre and Reagan later in the night; the former had nothing but praise for his 14-year-old former teammate.  “Do your best, man,” DeAndre said, “and stay positive.” It’s classy for DeAndre to throw some support Reagan’s way, especially when you consider the backlash to this whole thing that could have been avoided.  If you thought Adam was ready to say anything else about it, you were wrong. Carson Daly seemingly decided against asking him much about the performers.  As for Reagan Strange’s big performance? It was meh.  The youngster went with Calum Scott’s “You Are the Reason,” and while the youngster has proven to have a solid voice, this was not the best song for her.  It was just all over the place, and her nerves were also to blame. By this stage of the game, you should be acclimated with performing live.  It makes sense that viewers wanted Reagan gone for that reason, but it remains to be seen whether Tuesday will be her big goodbye.  The best performance of the night was Kennedy Holmes and her rendition of “This Is Me.” She pulled out all the stops to ensure this Greatest Showman song was performed perfectly. She even put her own spin on it, to boot.  Whether viewers will vote for her is another story because, well, the viewer vote is never a sign of quality.  As for the worst performance of the night? That honor goes to Sarah Grace who went with “Sign of the Times” by Harry Styles.  There wasn’t anything remotely likable about this number. From shaky vocals to awkward moves, there was something off about the rendition from the get-go.  The true test will be whether she winds up in the bottom three, which could really go either way.  Who did you like best on the night?  Did Adam Levine make a mistake? Hit the comments below.  The Voice continues Tuesday at 8/7c.  View Slideshow: The Voice Winners: RANKED!

Will New Professional Football League Allow Players To Kneel In Protest Of Racism?

Follow this link:

A new professional football league apparently spearheaded by former Black players was announced Thursday, amid turmoil in the National Football League over its athletes protesting racism by kneeling during the national anthem. See Also: NFL Makes New Rule That Players Can’t Kneel Against Racism, Or Else Former NFL running back Ricky Williams broke the news about the Freedom Football League on ESPN’s “Outside the Lines.” Approximately 100 “stakeholders,” including 50 former NFL players, are starting the league. The owners include Terrell Owens , Simeon Rice  and Mike Alstott , ESPN reported. In describing the mission of the league, Williams hinted that it would permit players to protest. “We’re trying to develop young men. You can’t take away their voice and expect them to develop. … When I grew up watching football, I really wanted to be like Jim Brown , not because of what he did on a field, but because he could take that platform and have a voice. And so, when I got to the NFL, expecting that to be the case, anytime a big social issue came up, we were told, ‘Be quiet. … It’s a distraction.’ And so, really, [we’re] changing the conversation,” he said. BREAKING: Former Pro Bowler Ricky Williams announces new Freedom Football League, founded in part by former NFL players. Teams will be “partly owned by the players, partly owned by the fans, and partly owned by the operators.” pic.twitter.com/sEonBKygr9 — Outside The Lines (@OTLonESPN) December 6, 2018 Former NFL quarterback Colin Kaepernick was the first to take a knee during the national anthem in 2016 to protest racism in the criminal justice system. He started a movement at the expense of his professional football career. In response to the backlash from many fans, the NFL announced in May 2018 a ban on players kneeling during the national anthem, but later suspended enforcement of new rules. It’s not clear how the Freedom Football League will manage that issue. But Williams offered a clue. “The purpose of this league … is about community and the development of players,” Williams stated. “… In thinking about creating this league, I wanted to create a league that I could have stayed in and been comfortable and really thrived. The NFL started a long time ago, and since then a lot of things have changed. And we want to create a league that’s ready for that change and invite some more of it.” The new league is slated to have 10 teams that would play in the spring and summer. It wants to attract high-quality players from college, high school and international leagues—as well as NFL defectors. Funding for the Freedom League would come from private and public sources, which enables fans to become part owners.
