Katy Perry, Diego Luna Break Up In ‘One That Got Away’ Tease

Preview clip for Perry’s Teenage Dream ballad hints at ‘11.11.11’ release date. By Jocelyn Vena Diego Luna and Katy Perry in “The One That Got Away” music video Photo: Jive For anyone wondering who Katy Perry is pining over on her song “The One That Got Away,” it seems the video may have the answer. The songstress has enlisted Mexican movie star Diego Luna to play the male lead. In a teaser posted by the singer, Luna and Perry embrace and share longing looks and some flirty moments as a voice narrates the story. “The past is like a handful of dust,” the voice-over says. “It filters through your fingers, disappearing little by little.” Of course, it’s not all romantic: As a car zooms down a highway, a montage of the good and the bad times — there’s fighting and Luna leaving Perry behind — helps tease a bit more about Perry and Luna’s love affair. “I wish, for one day, I could go back,” the voice-over continues, “In another life, I would do things differently.” At the end of the preview, the date “11/11/11” flashes, signifying a possible release date for the video. (A rep for the singer hadn’t responded to MTV News’ request for confirmation by press time.) “I’m so pleased to select ‘The One That Got Away’ as my sixth single because this song shows a very different side of me that I haven’t shown with my past singles on this record. I think that everyone can relate to this song,” Perry has previously said about the Teenage Dream ballad. “I wrote this song about when you promise someone forever, but you end up not being able to follow through. It’s a bittersweet story — hopefully, the listener learns from hearing it and never has to say they had ‘The One’ get away.” It’s certainly an on-trend video idea to use sweeping story lines to help shape the visual elements of tracks about the ups and downs of love. Joe Jonas made a similar move for his Parisian-set clip for “Just in Love With You” and Rihanna also explored Some more serious story lines for her racy “We Found Love” clip. Why Did Michael Jackson’s Doctor Talk To Police?

Before verdict is returned, we look at a turning point in the investigation of Dr. Conrad Murray. By Gil Kaufman Dr. Conrad Murray Photo: Pool/ Getty Images It was one of the most confounding decisions in the recent annals of criminal justice: Why did Dr. Conrad Murray’s lawyers counsel him to sit down for a no-holds-barred interview with police just two days after the death of Michael Jackson on June 25, 2009. The tell-all interview went against just about all the logic you’ve seen in countless movies and TV procedurals, where the potential defendant’s lawyer adamantly tells his client not to say a single thing to the cops. With the involuntary manslaughter trial of former Jackson doctor Murray in the jury’s hands, we asked a lawyer if that fateful interview was the first, and biggest, mistake Murray’s legal team made in their defense. MTV News spoke to Los Angeles criminal defense attorney Mike Cavalluzzi, who said the very first decision criminal lawyers often have to make is whether to allow their client to speak to the police before a formal prosecution against them has begun. Cavalluzzi, who does not have firsthand knowledge of the case but who has worked a range of criminal matters in L.A. courts from misdemeanor battery to homicide, said very often a defense attorney will choose to make their client clam up and not speak to police at all. “However, there is a unique advantage to be gained by allowing your client to speak to the police if you think they are going to do well,” he said of the possible reasoning behind the unusual tactic. That choice might have helped Murray during the trial, where he was able to avoid testifying and submitting himself to the rigorous cross-examination from the prosecutor because his voice had already been heard. “He has said what he needs to say, and the jury is hearing that without the prosecution having the benefit of cross-examining him,” Cavalluzzi said. “In this case, it could actually benefit him.” Then again, he added, the move was risky because at the time Murray spoke to police, the doctor’s lawyers had no idea about the state of the investigation into Jackson’s death or what evidence had been uncovered. “By the time you’re at trial, you can respond to all the evidence, as opposed to speaking to evidence you don’t know about yet,” he said. Stanford University law professor Robert Weisberg told MTV News that the decision to have Murray talk to police before they’d charged him was “pretty bizarre,” though he suspected the doctor’s lawyers had some reason for taking that step. “I always tell my students to be careful about believing what they see on ‘Law & Order,’ ” said Weisberg, who also was not directly involved in the case. “In those shows, you always have the suspect blabbing to police in the presence of their lawyer and the lawyer is trying to tell them to shut up. The first thing a lawyer does is tell them to shut up. And when they do talk to police, it’s in a highly orchestrated situation where the lawyer is present.” Though he speculated that Murray’s lawyers had thought long and hard about talking to police, Weisberg said it was still unusual. “Maybe the lawyer thought that on balance, it was a good strategy, or that it might persuade police to drop the investigation or that he would do such a good job that he wouldn’t incriminate himself,” Weisberg said. And even though the interview became one of the focal points of the prosecution’s case and provided some damaging evidence against Murray, Weisberg said that doesn’t in itself mean it was a bad idea. “It led to a lot of agonizing over whether Murray would testify, which a criminal defendant in a trial does not have to do.” Weisberg said the high drama that surrounded the announcement of whether Murray would testify near the end of the trial was also out of the ordinary. “I’m not sure why they had a virtual press conference in court announcing he was not testifying; that seemed odd to me.” Then again, it might also have been another sly legal tactic. “Maybe the defense thought it could be an emotionally poignant moment that would play with the jury,” he said. Dr. Conrad Murray Shopping Documentary Film

Just hours before closing arguments in Dr. Conrad Murray’s involuntary manslaughter trial, a documentary about the embattled physician is being shopped to networks . Murray, who faces up to four years in prison in the death of Michael Jackson, has been a part of filming the documentary since being charged earlier this year. Dr. Murray, as we know, has decided not to take the stand at his trial, but has given long in depth interviews to the film crew … for whatever that’s worth. “This project has been in the works since Murray’s arrest,” says a source. “It was originally conceived to help him get his reputation back following the case.” “However, another primary driving force of it is to generate money so that Murray can pay his lawyers and experts,” the source close to Murray confided. The N.Y. Post broke the story and says Dr. Conrad Murray is hoping the documentary will earn at least a million dollars. That may be wishful thinking. Our source says, “Dr. Murray and his lawyers were hoping it would sell for a million, but it looks like the max a network would pay is around $250K.” If Dr. Murray is convicted, that price could go up … or down. Closing arguments are set to begin tomorrow morning at 9.

Lisa Vanderpump "Sings" Debut Single: Try Not to Listen Now!

Lisa Vanderpump is the latest member of the Real Housewives franchise to try her voice at a singing career. And we use the term singing as loosely as Lindsay Lohan uses her vagina. The reality star appeared on Ryan Seacrest’s radio program this morning, rambled on for five minutes about her role on The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills and then launched into a version of “Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow” that makes Kim Zolciak’s Tardy for the Party sound like a Grammy nominee. We’ve posted the video below and it really only leaves one question: Should we blame Seacrest more for actually airing this nonsense, or for unleashing Kim Kardashian and kompany on E! viewers? Donald Trump Accuses Jon Stewart of "Racist Rant" Against Herman Cain

Jon Stewart is facing Donald Trump’s wrath (been too long since we heard from him on political matters) after making what the latter calls a “racist rant” about Herman Cain. Specifically, Trump took issue with the comedian’s commentary on the GOP presidential candidate’s confusing denial of sexual harassment charges during the 1990s. Stewart likened Cain’s answer to being asked “Have you ever kidnapped a baby?” only to respond, “No. Well, other than the Lindbergh baby.” Funny? Not to Trump … Donald Trump Goes Off on Jon Stewart Trump was upset about Stewart’s imitation of Herman Cain, saying, “It’s not what he said, but the way he said. The tone of his voice, the inflection. Unbelievable.” He called out officials saying they’re letting Stewart “get away” with it. “Other people get taken off the air, and when he [Stewart] says it, people smile and sort of say, ‘Wow, I can’t believe he gets away with that,'” Trump explained. Trump said others are lambasted for non-political correctness, but never Stewart, even if he does “a horrible, horrible thing to the African-American community.” Jon Stewart Goes Off on Herman Cain Whether or not this constitutes “horrible” is a matter of opinion, clearly. But maybe Don should look back at a certain pot-stirring crusade he waged not long ago. On the flip side, Stewart does go after certain people harder than others, and with a very different style. If that’s the Donald’s point, it’s not totally off base. Jon’s primary target seems to be media coverage of Cain, not the Republican candidate himself, though. Is Trump overreacting or was Stewart just offensive? Tell us what you think by hitting the comments and the poll below …

Adele DFY After Throat Surgery

Adele’s vocal cords are in bad shape. After a year plagued with canceled tour dates and serious bouts of laryngitis, the British singer is on the shelf for the remainder of 2011 after throat surgery. Her record company announced the news with “deep regret,” confirming that all Adele’s concert dates and promotional appearances are cancelled until 2012. Adele’s label said in a statement : “She is to undergo surgery to alleviate the current issues with her throat and a full recovery is expected. As a result, doctors have ordered her to rest her voice and completely recuperate before looking to schedule any work commitments.” It’s unclear when the 23-year-old – whose 21 is currently the bestselling album of the year – is expected to return, but the surgery will not impact her voice. No 2012 appearances have yet been set, but the Grammys are set for February 12. That would seem like an appropriate time and place for a comeback. Unlike the reaction of most Red Sox fans when they heard John Lackey will miss all of 2012 with Tommy John Surgery, here’s hoping Adele returns ASAP!

John Mayer Undergoes Throat Surgery

Grammy winner announces granuloma diagnosis following series of concert cancellations By Gil Kaufman John Mayer Photo: Getty Images Singer/guitarist John Mayer has enjoyed a long, Grammy-filled career thanks to his bluesy rasp. But after canceling a series of recent performances to rest his voice, Mayer announced that he had gone under the knife to correct a throat problem that had laid him low. Mayer was diagnosed with granuloma (throat inflammation) just above his vocal cord last month and has been ordered to take complete vocal rest for at least a month following the surgery. “I wanted to give you an update on the granuloma just above my vocal cord,” Mayer wrote on his Tumblr . “I had surgery this afternoon to remove it and am now on complete vocal rest for a month or more. It’s been a very long process in waiting to see if time was an alternative to surgery, but even given two weeks’ voice rest (along with many other approaches), there was no change for the better.” Mayer canceled some performances last month, including an appearance at the first-ever iHeartRadio Music Festival in Las Vegas as well as a show with Tony Bennett in Los Angeles. In addition, his upcoming fifth album, Born and Raised, which was originally slated for release this fall, has been pushed back to next year. “I should be frustrated but I can’t seem to stop thinking about beautiful things,” Mayer continued. “I never thought I’d be wishing I could do what I love again; I stay in at night, picking guitar parts off of records and dreaming of playing on the big stage. The only difference between now and when I was 18 is that now I have this beautiful, meaningful record waiting for me when I can sing it.” Related Artists John Mayer

We have been beliebers since day ONE. Justin is our biggest…

We have been beliebers since day ONE. Justin is our biggest inspiration, we always read this page dreaming that someday we could have our own bieberexperience , and the day is here! We have two mybieberexperience’s and we want to share it with you! The first took place at  The Bahamas; June 12, 2010. W e went there for our first JB concert. We were staying at the same hotel as Justin. We were dying   through the whole concert and cried the whole time because it was the best day of our lives. It was about to get better Justin told us to check Twitter for an afterparty. We thought he was kidding but   anyway we did everything he said and at the end, he tweeted  “Club Rush is open till two for the after party”. We ran like never before, there was a pretty big line to get in   and we were the last ones to go inside. We went upstairs. The place was really small there and the music was good but Justin wasn’t there until 5 seconds later. The girls started to scream and then we saw him   standing in front of us! I couldn’t believe it,   he talked to us, then he started dancing just like a normal teenager. We will never forget that day, it was amazing but we didn’t get to take a picture with him. We went back home and just kept supporting him. Then just a few months ago,  we were on vacation when they announced that Justin was coming to our country. We thought that was the best thing ever happening but we were wrong. Both of us had really good tickets like row 6 but that wasn’t enough, we really wanted to meet him! We saw that  bieberfever.com  was having a contest to meet Justin and we couldn’t loose the opportunity. We worked REALLY hard on our video for the contest but we never thought we were going to win because there were many other videos. On October 18th, we were at the airport waiting for Justin to arrive and suddenly Gaby’s mum called us. She told us that we won the M&G passes. We couldn’t believe it so we needed to check, ”Congratulations, Gabriela! You’re officially invited to attend the photo meet and greet TOMORROW, OCTOBER 19th in CARACAS!” It was true, we started to cry and scream, THAT was the best thing ever happened to us. It was October 19th, the day of the concert and we couldn’t think about anything else our dream was almost there! (Meeting Justin). We were on the way to the concert, really nervous and when we arrived we started to look for our passes. There was a women with a little list, we told her our names and she gave us our bracelets  and told us to be back at 6pm next to the stage. There are no words to describe the feeling of meeting Justin, it was something UNREAL. He is perfect, his voice his face, everything we were speechless I couldn’t breathe, we gave him some Sour Patch Kids. He got really excited and then he said, “Thank You Very Much, GRACIAS, how are you girls?” He was really nice. We were paralyzed and we couldn’t believe what was happening. He grabbed us from our hips and they took the picture. Kenny was there too! The second after we said goodbye, we both started to cry really hard. Then the concert was WOW! We got to be in the 1 st  row . We talked to Alfredo and Pattie . A day we will never forget, DREAMS DO COME TRUE FOLLOW YOUR DREAMS & NEVER SAY NEVER! – Gaby & Isa  Here is the original post: We have been beliebers since day ONE. Justin is our biggest…
